All those VSEs kind of fell out of favor, at least in sitcoms, I think post-Seinfeld, where they took the approach of just avoiding any serious topic.  In fact they make light quite often of very serious topics.  I've mentioned it on other threads, you ever consider how often people die on Seinfeld and how many funerals they attend?  Not just George's fiancé susan either, started long before then.  They even joke about Jerry being molested by his dentist/Bryan Cranston.

The current crop of rebooted sitcoms is going back to VSE's, & I hate it.  Now every character is having a #metoo moment (Grace, Murphy).  Not interested.  Leave the teachable moments to daytime TV.  I feel like I'm watching Oprah or Dr Phil.  I miss the Seinfeld sensibility.  I must say that Modern Family seems to have a handle on how to do the serious stuff, for the most part.

  2. I liked both the loft and the brownstone.  First time.  The brownstone was nice, but there's a reason the table is near the kitchen - schlepping food from the kitchen to the dining room.  The loft (even with that horror of a sofa) worked, also.  Maybe, because Thom didn't use wallpaper.  The price of that light fixture was amazing (not in a good way).  What happened to the fish tank?

  3. very special “Murphy Brown”.  Just in case we don’t grasp the gravity of their situations, we have a third rate sitcom to beat us over the head with it.  Preachy, heavy-handed, and no laughs.    😝☹️😝☹️😝☹️😝☹️😝☹️😝☹️😝☹️

NONE of the current panel was on this show during the time that Miles decided to work there. And it's Candice.

Murphy Brown is fiction.  Miles (a fictional character) didn't really work there.

The older episodes are so much better than the new version

Is the "new" version still on?  I'm seeing Gypsy Wedding in that time slot (awful - don't watch).  I wonder if they are re-vamping the new version because it seemed to be universally hated.

to incorporate his well-meaning but often times misguided sense of décor so that he doesn't feel left out

It's really hard with some husbands.  Mine has his taste stuck in the '70s.  I mostly don't pay attention, because as long as he has his giant TV, he's happy.

I enjoyed the episode but the Teaneck rooms just wasn't my taste.  I can appreciate a room that isn't 'my' taste but this one wasn't making it.

I could live with the living room, but that dining room - the gold side table was over $3K ???  I wonder if Thom is going to use wallpaper in all of his rooms.  I actually like wallpaper, but so far haven't been keen on his choices.

After scrolling thru her "fashion" items: they are ugly and cheap looking. For example: $69.00 shoes marked down to $20.00. They aren't nice enough to fetch $20.00 let alone $69.00! Same goes for the other crap that won't sell. So much for that business venture. I'll bet Suzanne is glad she won't have to wear Wendy's clothes anymore!

There are a couple of things that aren’t so bad, but why would anyone want to wear Wendy Williams fashion?  ??. Embarrassing!!

I don't mean to offend anybody who did like it though.

Yes, not my taste either.   The lighting!   I prefer "traditional" - not in the way that designers think is traditional, though.  ;o)

The chairs looked like they belong on a patio

They look like the $5.95 plastic chairs.  I just threw mine out recently - turned yellow & they were ultra-ugly to begin with.

Or, instead of sitting on the sofa and the random chairs (and the floor), they could use the DINING ROOM TABLE!

I was also wondering why they didn’t grab a chair from across the hall.  I thought it was funny that Sheldon & Amy’s mother bonded.  Not feeling the Raj - Anu thing.  But, a pretty decent episode.

Piegate: I'm Team SHS. Who cares if she baked, or bought it and is trying to pass it on as her own?

It was very middle-school of April Ryan to call SHS out on it. Just roll your eyes and make a snarky comment about it to your closest friend, like I do when friends post their homemade food pics on Facebook.

Been there, actually done that.  Nobody cares, petty thing to do.

ganesh isn't talking about this thread.  She (he?) is talking about the episode threads for Doctor Who, where people are supposed to be posting about the specific episodes, not just talking in general terms.

Oh ..... oops.  Excuse me!  Guilty of lack of reading comprehension!
