I guess it was always preachy, but I found the original ok. I started watching the reboot in the hope of seeing something entertaining. Just painful! Bad writing and the acting was horrendous!

See, I think the opposite. The are perfectly matched, in my opinion - both not too bright. I hated Andy, I saw no chemistry whatsoever.

The Annual Golden Globes - General Discussion

Judy’s dress was far more tasteful. I suppose the color was similar. BTW, Judy was the definitive Esther Blogett. Gaga is not in the same league, nor is Barbra. -

I thought Patricia was following the theme. Golden Globes. That was seriously awful. Her boobs were under her chin. -

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Add: "convo". People who chuckle after every sentence. It's cold out today (heh, heh). I should call my mother (heh, heh). Oh, you have a new bracelet (heh, heh). I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow (heh, heh). I'm sure they don't realize what they're doing, but I have asked what was so funny & received a blank stare. -

I don’t know why anyone thinks Andy is a great idea. Cannot stand him. He brings nothing. Anderson (I usually find him fine doing hard news) should be ashamed for taking part in this crap fest. -
The Mary Tyler Moore Show - General Discussion

Classic and professional wardrobe. You could wear a lot of those clothes today, provided you are not into skintight, sleeveless dresses and 5-inch stilettos. This show is just so much better than dreck like the new Murphy Brown. -
Will never understand why this was remade. First one was painful, maybe because Julie Andrews has always made me want to slap her in the face. I suppose this one is directed toward the pre-teen crowd.

I remember her from the "Carry On" movies. She must be the last of them. What, indeed? Like looking for a needle in a haystack trying to navigate these forums. -
I think it's cute, but then I'm partial to plaid. Maybe just the jacket & shoes, tho.

I don't think it has to be balanced. Political humor is fine with me. This show was NOT funny. Bad writing, bad acting, bad direction.

^^^ Only thing is, judging by the comments on FB and elsewhere, nuance and subtlety doesn’t seem to resonate with today’s fans. I believe I’m the demographic they’re preaching to, and I found the show cringe-worthy.

You're really going to hate it when I tell you the show was shot in New York City, even though it takes place in Washington... i·ro·ny /ˈīrənē/ noun the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. "“Don't go overboard with the gratitude,” he rejoined with heavy irony" synonyms:sarcasm, causticity, cynicism, mockery, satire, sardonicism "that note of irony in her voice"

Yes! I demand realism!

That's been the whole problem with this show, this episode was no exception. Just seems very amateurish. Longest half season ever!!!! The Afganistan bit looked so phoney. I thought he was in Fresno. Somebody will have to explain the humor in this show, because I see none. The Ted Cruz "joke" sounded like a joke from The Wolf Network. The secondary characters have been plucked directly from a high school play.

That’s what I’ve been saying! Political is fine, as long as it’s funny, which this show is not. The ‘choir’ wants humor!
-
Yeah, really. The younger demo isn’t watching. As an oldster, I barely tune in. Maybe college students watch soaps, but I don’t get why they would want to watch Hoda and ?
-
And, why not? Why would she show up for a two minute segment? Who the hell is Armie Hammer, anyway?

Soooo predictable. No laughs, either. The only sitcom where I can sit and not even crack a smile. I will say that the dog is a cutie.
