  1. I mean being up after the Olympics makes sense... Pretty sure all of us were expecting it. The yikes is just for the demo not picking back up after the Olympics nothing else, really.
  2. The Lances have weird relationships with each other... By far the most dysfunctional family I've seen on TV and that includes shows like Empire... Laurel tied up Sara like an animal in the basement because she was obsessed with bringing Sara back Sara dates someone that looks like Laurel Quentin is so obsessed with a woman that looks like Laurel but isn't, really, and is being incredibly creepy/psychotic to convince her that she is and semi brain washing her as well to do so Dinah was OK with Sara going on a sex cruise with Oliver fully knowing that Laurel was dating him Like...... Can they all just stop?
  3. Donna is a cocktail waitress but she isn't on the job 24/7. Simple fact of the matter is that she wears tight risque dresses because she likes how she feels in them. It almost has nothing to do with her job. I just don't really understand how the way someone dresses defines their achievements and their status as role models... If the argument was that how the comic industry in general draw women is sexist and should change, then I'd agree. But that's not the argument here. It's that somehow women who wear skimpy clothes (regardless of how sensible/logical it is) can't possibly be role models no matter what they achieve and I think that's a really crummy message to give to girls who sometimes like to express their sexuality in how they dress themselves.
  4. I don't really see how this invalidates the point tbh. Characters comment on how she dresses yet she continues to do so and even then this shouldn't make her less of a role model or have her achievements put down just because she dresses in incredibly risque clothing.
  5. If you want a better comparison between the comics and Arrow then Felicity isn't it, Donna is probably a better example. She is a 45+ year old woman who wears incredibly skimpy outfits with low cuts, short skirts, and are skin tight. This doesn't mean that she's trashy, has zero class, and shouldn't be looked up to. Even though Donna has been shown to be embarrassing at times, even Felicity acknowledges how much her mother had been through, how much her mother worked in order to put Felicity through school. If that's not admirable or if she's not someone you can look up to because of her sense of style then I think that''s wrong. Also... This is pretty much a direct quote from Stephen from the 2013 Fan Expo in Canada: “All the characters are in a different spot in season 2. Felicity… Felicity is a lot sexier. No, really, I’m looking at her wardrobe this year and I went ‘they sexified your wardrobe, didn’t they?’ Yes, they did.”
  6. I don't know if this has been suggested here or not, but this fic is the most delightful fic I've read in a while! AND SHE UPDATES REGULARLY! The Unlikeliest of Places: http://archiveofourown.org/works/13502256/chapters/30966014
  7. Honestly? I'm 32 and what I feel empowered in is mostly stuff that I feel I look good in and that varies. I don't have 1 power outfit. But I have been friends with girls who are comfortable wearing skimpy outfits when they go out and that makes them feel confident and empowered. I guess it varies from person to person depending on their body type as well as their personalities.
  8. I think that we were introduced to a lot of new characters all at once which is why it's difficult to click with it (and Felicity didn't meet Oliver for a while in that chapter)... Hopefully when Oliver/Felicity start to interact more things will fall into place (which I'm sure will because she's awesome)
  9. IDK, I think women can wear whatever they want to feel empowered. I mean we all defend Felicity wearing dresses with short skirts because she likely feels empowered by it... My issue arises because from what I've seen, almost every woman in the comics is drawn to have ample breasts, skin tight clothes, tiny hips etc. It's unrealistic and sexist. If it's geared towards boys then it's giving them unrealistic expectations on what women should look like. It's terrible.
  10. This is so weird
  11. What is happening?!
  12. This can't possibly be a flashback because he's in the bunker and he has is wedding band (insert heart eyes) on... What in the world is happening? Is it a hallucination?
  13. Oliver is wearing the season 1 hood. Oh how I missed it
  14. Basically! And in the end it really doesn't matter what outsiders thought about Iris/Barry because Iris at one point felt that way enough to say that they were like brother and sister. Also, why should we believe 2 men about how Iris feels over idk.... Iris? LOL
  15. What I don't really understand is why people can't let others feel however they want to about this situation. This something that many people will have many varying opinions on considering this isn't black and white. Some people feel squicked out because they feel like the relationship is incestuous due to what they believe and the environment they were raised in. So what? It's not like people can convince them that it isn't incest because like I said, there is no wrong or right answer to this, it's just based on opinion. Blame the writers for putting this idea in people's heads, don't blame the audience for thinking it.
  16. Also, I've seen this argument thrown around a lot but I just really hate the "Barry was 11 when he was taken in which is why he isn't REALLY a brother"! Because it also perpetuates the argument that blended families aren't families or that adoptive siblings aren't siblings... Which isn't true or right at all. Unfortunately, KC said this at one point... So really I don't think this means much.
  17. It's not about first impressions and nowhere have I stated that it is. It's about once the thought of incest is put in people's minds it's hard to take it out and that's what they did with Barry/Iris which is why you still see 'incest' comments from time to time regarding Westallen.
  18. It literally looks as awkard as 2 cousins being forced to kiss....It's just bad.
  19. I read this comment that is pretty succinct: "once one thinks incest, one cannot simply unthink incest." This is why the biggest mistake they made was make Iris say that one line regardless of what she followed it up with. Once the thought of incest was put in people's minds, then that thought couldn't have been changed or 'fixed'. This isn't the fault of anyone but the writers.
