  1. John was one of the core Goliath people (with Kara, Dan, Angelina) who hadn't given any indication about flipping, and were the most overtly "Goliath strong." Since there was some real 3D chess here with the idols, the group probably suspected Dan would play his idol on either Angelina (since she was the obvious target) or maybe Kara, his island GF. It's the old strategy of targeting the person in the alliance who isn't the most obvious threat at the moment, a la Edgardo in Fiji.
  2. This episode was severely lacking any scenes with Alison, who was the other Goliath in the Strikeforce. She was apparently cool with just sticking with the majority and blowing up the sub-alliance? We couldn't have seen her and Alec discussing their options?
  3. Oh, it gets better. Scot could've saved himself simply by playing his own idol before the votes were read, since he knew he was getting votes. But nope, he had to be all showboat and count on Tai teaming up with him to create the super-idol.
  4. Mike White, showing the same keen attention to detail that made The Emoji Movie's script such a winner, says "it's not like Carl and Davie will lead an insurrection."
  5. We did see that scene in the show of Carl wanting to get Elizabeth out, so it seems like there's some truth to Elizabeth's story. Seems like a short-sighted move from Carl since now the Davids are in an even bigger numbers hole, though we know so little about what he's doing strategy-wise (same with Davie, who was invisible all episode) that I'm not sure what the plan is. Maybe they're on board with Alec, since Davie already teamed up with him to eliminate Natalia?
  6. It seems like the only "Goliath strong" group is John/Angelina/Kara/Dan, whereas Alec, Alison, and Mike all know what's up and want to break up that core quartet. Nick, Gabby, and Christian might all be safe due to this counter-Goliath plan, and Davie might seems to be on the outs but at least he has his idol. Carl might be an outsider as well though his name wasn't mentioned at all in the episode. Lady OutOfTheQuestion had a theory that people might be wary of Carl since they think HE might have an idol, from his time on the Exile Island.
  7. The little picture of the "here" being under a tree makes me think it's a map. But yeah, I 100 percent think that's a clue to an advantage or an idol.
  8. I thought for sure this was going to be one of those marketing campaign tasks where the experts panned both teams, leading to everyone back in the boardroom. When the best thing you can say about "Manage-Air" is that it can be identified as an airline ad, that's not a good sign. Speaking of poor branding, can we address how "Typhoon" is a godawful team name? It's a natural disaster!
  9. Mike's vote against Lyrsa was a smart one, since it gives him options. If he votes out Angelina, the Goliaths are down 7-6 and he has no guarantee the Davids won't stick together after a merge. With the Goliaths having the 7-6 advantage, however, it gives Mike more flexibility in what he wants to do next since he has some idea of the Goliath group dynamic and can maneuver around within that framework. He and Alison totally don't seem "Goliath strong," and Alec might've put himself on the outs by turning on Natalia.
  10. "I wonder why I haven't seen Luke or Danny in such a long time." "They disappeared when Netfl...uh, Thanos snapped his fingers."
  11. That team already had such a big edge in getting Kayode in the first place that using him in any role is a plus. Having him on massages might've won them the task altogether, since the massage team had such a huge margin over the spray-tan team. (Though that could've also been because massages are a much easier sell than spray tans.) I'm sure there have been instances where this wasn't the case, but it seems like in any task based on pure volume of sales, the team with an extra member is going to have an inherent advantage. When that extra member is the guy who seems to be the best salesman of the bunch, the advantage is magnified.
  12. I know why it can't happen for real-life logistical reasons, but in the wake of Defenders, there's really *no* storyline reason why none of Luke, Jessica, Iron Fist or Punisher showed up to check out this situation. Especially after it seemed like "Daredevil" was running around killing newspaper reporters. Overall, I enjoyed this season quite a bit. There were definitely some plot holes and strange plotting in general along the way, but this is the only Marvel Netflix show where the acting is so good across the board that is really helps to paper over the story problems. Karen in particular has had so much ridiculous stuff attached to her character, yet it somehow works since Deborah Ann Woll is a hell of an actress. The ending felt a bit too pat given how much of a complete hold Fisk seemed to have over everyone. Matt just expects Fisk to keep his word? If anything, you would've thought Matt threatening Vanessa in any way would've made Fisk even more determined to kill him. This might just be something they handwave away since it's a superhero show, but was there ever any explanation given about why Dex has superhuman throwing and aiming abilities?
  13. As we're down to seven Davids and seven Goliaths, it occurred to me that a fun twist in a situation like this would be to have another swap, but switch everyone back to their original tribes. Both tribes have an even number, and it would be interesting to see if old alliances would stick together, or if it would be a freeforall based on new alliances as some people would now be playing for new alliances from the other tribe.
  14. Carl and Davie probably have no long-term allegiance to Elizabeth, since she went against them by voting Jessica out. So Carl/Davie could easily team with Kara and/or Alec to vote Elizabeth out, or stay "David strong" for now to vote out Kara or Alec with Elizabeth as the third vote, OR Elizabeth/Alec/Kara could join forces to eliminate out of Davie or Carl. Whew! I feel like everyone on Goliath knew about Dan's idol thanks to Jeremy, so Alison very likely knows. She might be trying to get him out now because of that idol, and because Alison wasn't part of that couples alliance (Natalia, Alec, Dan, Kara, John, Angelina) that seemed to be in control at Goliath. Then again, Alec quickly voted Natalia out as soon as he could, so that alliance probably wasn't all that strong in the first place. Anyway, I feel like there's been enough telegraphing of Gabby as "the obvious vote" that she actually won't be voted out if the green tribe loses. At least I'm hoping this is the case since I think she's my favourite of the season thus far.
  15. If you're enough of an enthusiast to actually attend a bodybuilding expo, I'd think you'd already have your own home gym equipment. So Sabrina's team perhaps missed a trick there, even if it was technically the best of the three available products. I do feel sorry for the vendors they bring onto this show as options, only to have both teams instantly dismiss their product. The woman selling the bedazzled bikinis was probably looking forward to her big break.
  16. If Simon wears the turkey suit during the goodnights, it will save the entire episode.
  17. I was actually worried that Bi's knee injury is going to force her out of the game, thus dropping the number to an even 16 players. But an MCL sprain isn't necessarily that bad, and people are generally only med-evaced in cases of illness or infection.
  18. I'd imagine it's a bit of a red flag if you're asking one of your tribemates how their name is spelled
  19. From the previous episode, that scene where the three Goliath women are talking about how they each have a guy as their second....was it was Natalie/Alec and Angelina/John, or the other way around?
  20. Frosti from the China season was also supposed to be some kind of parkour whiz, but he was nothing special in challenges.
  21. But what I like about Christian is that he himself isn't trying hard. Cochran was clearly playing up his nerd status and trying to fit as many canned one-liners as he could into his confessionals; Christian just seems to be being himself. In the pro wrestling world, one of the knocks on John Morrison/Nitro/Impact/Mundo/Ultra is that he has kind of a wooden personality, at least by "bombastic wrestler" standards. In this episode at least, he came off as funny and likeable.
  22. It's hard to evaluate "best player ever" (other than Sandra) because the rules change every season, but you can actually make a good case for Michele as one of the best winners. Between her good social game and being good at challenges, she didn't really have any flaws. The fact that two of Aubry's biggest supporters were both medical removals was a lucky break for Michele, but every Survivor winner has been lucky in one way or another, plus Michele was arguably unlucky when the Beauty tribe lost Caleb early on. Let's be honest, if Michele was a guy, Probst would've praised her victory to the hills. Two major statistics in Michele's favor: 1. Between all of her tribe wins, her individual immunity wins, and the large amount of medical evacuations in Kaoh Rong, Michele was only eligible to be eliminated at four tribal councils. That's a extremely underrated achievement in a game with so many wild twists --- Michele simply avoided danger at pretty much all times. 2. Michele, to my recollection, didn't have any idols or special advantages to help her along the way, aside from the "remove a juror" item that ended up not mattering in the vote. If I'm not mistaken, Michele is the only Survivor winner from seasons 26-36 that didn't have a hidden immunity idol to help her in her victory.
  23. Well, the show heavily implied (or basically outright told us) that Mariah was an alcoholic, so Alfre was likely bringing some of that to the performance. As much as the Marvel Netflix and film franchises are firmly kept separate, I admit I kept secretly hoping they'd have a surprise tie-in. Maybe Luke was too busy watching that evening's Harlem's Paradise performer do their soundtrack to help out Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Wong, and Spidey when the spaceship arrived in New York.
  24. John Morrison was a hell of an athlete back in his WWE days. He had kind of a parkour wrestling style, where he was a huge guy but could really fly around the ring. I expect he'll be a real challenge beast if he's on the show.
  25. I have to laugh that so much of Probst's "bitter jury" animosity about Kaoh Rong is directed at Michele.....and seemingly not at Scot or Jason, the two jackasses that actually caused all of the bitterness. God forbid Probst criticize any of his beloved alpha male players. I honestly don't think the new open forum FTC format would've changed any result in Survivor history. Maybe in one of the very early seasons, perhaps --- I could see Thailand swinging differently if the jury had had more time to fully suss out the "Clay said racist comments" situation. As LadyChatts, the game is ultimately just a popularity contest, and jury members almost always have their votes decided long before they get to the final tribal.
