I was poking fun at myself too, so it would have been perfectly fine for you to poke fun at me. I was having fun too. :) Nice reference, btw. It did truly go over my head. :)

    Also...politicians.

It must be regional. I joined the United Methodist Church here on the west coast with a minor interview (in which I actually said I was iffy on the divinity of Christ), and no baptismal papers or anything else. They had a class for new members to take, but it was a pretty high level overview of the origins of the church. Both of the churches I was a member of were pretty liberal. I do understand they are far more conservative in the South and maybe the North East(?) As I understand it (I'm no longer a member) the church is very divided and nearly broke apart a year or two ago.

The only time the Catholic Church requires you to take classes is if you weren't born a Catholic and want to convert to Catholicism from a different religion.  Otherwise, you can switch to a different parish if you don't like the one you presently attend.  Happens all the time.

I had a feeling that pilot was dead as soon as he said he had a high school sweetheart he wanted to marry. Turned out he was dead all along.

There is no University of Vancouver. There is a Vancouver Island University and I know this because I went there. The big research Uni in Vancouver is UBC.

Does this show have a military advisor? They do great with jargon but less so with tactics. In this episode it was the endless repeats of "here's a hill, let's climb to the top of it and stand there like idiots." Real elite soldiers do not silhouette themselves against ridgelines! Bad guys have a tendency to shoot at human-shaped things that make themselves obvious!

Yes they do.  One of the producers  is an ex seal.

Way to go show!  Having the highly trained, bad ass female agent have to be rescued by the nebbishy male tech nerd. Welcome to the 19th century!

Can't believe that a Mossad trained agent couldn't have taken the guy down especially since there is a stray lug wrench in the back of the van where she is locked up.

It's worse than that. Liz has been on a slaughter spree with obvious national security implications for weeks now, and yet the FBI gets conveniently stupid enough to leave two defectors unguarded.

If the writers don't care, why should the audience? I think I'm putting this on the hate-watch list, along with Homeland. The acting on The Americans is better, however.

Found it interesting in how Elizabeth knew what window to crawl through.  Could have been the wrong apartment.

Naomie is a very angry young woman, spoiled and with control issues. She needs remedial lessons on how to grab reality TV screen time without coming off like a lunatic. She was completely unhinged at the baby shower. Kathryn-Lite.

When we see her, Danni is always slumped over with messy eyeliner, like she's depressed or something.

Others have said it here - the producer manipulation and staging is off the charts. There is very little organic behavior left on the show. I miss the original format of long chats and lighthearted moments.

When Elizabeth and JD showed up at the shower, it appeared that production pulled them in at the last minute, put them together, and shoved them through Patricia's door. I wonder why Elizabeth went along with it.

Observations: Thomas' dad said he was "moving out of Faber House." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faber-Ward_House

In the midst of his stupid ramblings Thomas said a very smart thing (regarding a marriage and more babies). He stated that he was being very careful to protect his children. I think Ashley is a passing flirtation. Thomas wanted "scion babies," which he already has.

Kathryn seems restrained and awkward with her children. I noticed she said "they were all trying to bond."

Whitney is uncomfortable in his own skin and I assume had a bit of an awkward childhood, trying to fit in. Under those tracksuits he is extremely thin.

The house that his father is moving out of (Faber House) is in such deplorable condition.  Don't go by the picture on the wiki site.  Now being renovated.  Think that the city got on Authur's case about the condition of the property.  He is the most horrible 92 year old looking.  Could have been the hard life he has lived.

Tonight's Jersey girl and her entourage were something else.  The bridesmaid in the too tight gray tshirt looked like a sidewalk Sally with her enormous fake bewbs.  And what's with that generation and their inability to pronounce the letter T in the middle of a word. She kept saying Man ha in instead of Manhatten.  And of course, another bride who insists on being overly sexy. And why was she always holding her bewbs?

And then we had the earthy hicks who are gold miners.  Oy, the father was beyond crude.  But in the end, they seemed like a pretty nice family.

They give the state of New Jersey and the Italian heritage a bad rap for their outlandish behavior.  No one even bother to tell her stomach stuck out in the skin tight dresses she tried on.

  7. Jersey girl with those big overdone lips was horrible.  Wearing a dress where your boobs are falling out is really tasteless, especially if there is going to be a church wedding.  Sooner or later they will have some semblance of a normal person on.

Hard to believe she actually graduated from college.

If she’s losing weight it must be very very very slowly because she looked like she’d gained to me, or maybe it was that poncho thing she was wearing in the opening scenes that did her no favors.

I think that she's getting fatter than ever.

  9. I also never read Goodnight Moon to my son who was born in 1972.  In fact, never heard of it till a few years ago.  Read him alot of other stories though.  Especially liked "The Littlest Angel" which made me cry everytime I read it to him.  Able to find a beautifully illustrated copy of this that I gave to my grandson when he was born.

People may have posted about this already (I’m making my way through the thread), but the thing that sticks in my mind about this episode is Jack’s shoulders and head sort of falling as Rebecca leaves the room to get snacks (as if he knew).

    Brilliant detail!

I went back and rewatched this and maybe this is when he has his deadly heart attack.

Was having only one phone in the house still standard in '98?  Most people I knew had extensions - at least two (one upstairs and one downstairs).  Most homes with teenagers - especially a teenage girl - would have had more than two (because the teenage girl would have asked for one IN HER ROOM).

Extensions already has become very popular by the mid 1960's.

I'm disappointed.  I wanted either of the guys to win.  Anyone but Michelle actually.  She can cook but she's such a self-centered little snot and I imagine she's insufferable now.  I sort of understood why she chose Elise.  Barbie is less talented and a total wild card.  She may have thought Elise wouldn't deliberately make herself look bad during her final appearance.  She was wrong but I can see why she might have gambled on it.  I actually agreed with Elise that Michelle was being obnoxious by repeating everything in her bossy way.  I don't agree with the way she responded though.

Ben has cute, nicely behaved little girls.  Michelle's nephews look like little trolls.  With terrible table manners.

The first part of the final was totally and annoyingly contrived.  First, it was fairly obvious that was a fake awards dinner.  The crowd was too small and there weren't any recognizable California chefs that I could see.   And it was sooooo unexpected that they just happened to have the kitchen set up for three cooks - all of whom somehow changed into chef coats and, in the case of Michelle who was wearing a dress, pants - in moments while the crowd waited.  Then the judging ended up in, quelle surprise, a three-way tie.  I don't know why GR resorts to all that phony drama when the premise of the show is a good one.

I hate this show but I just can't not watch it.

Noticed that there was a previous contestant from Worst Cooks show in the audience (the lady with the short white hair).

She did find a dress in her size-the size 7 fit her well, but it didn't make her happy. (I will say, though, that despite what Kate said in in the present, her teen self was not as thin as present-day Madison, who is extremely thin.)

I don't think that she was ever a size 7.  She looks a lot larger than that.

Yuck.  Ripped up the original floors and put down ugly dark ones.  Painted the existing wood work gray.  Ugly bathroom wallpaper and fugly gold fixtures.

They certainly did a back slide on what they wanted to keep from the original condition of the house.  Ripping out the original floors and putting in those ugly new ones along with the new wrought iron balusters on the steps was a crime along with using termite damage damage as an excuse.  Really - they are in the reno business and didn't have the house inspected before they moved in.  Also thought that the wallpaper in downstairs bathroom didn't look art deco to me.
