  1. I guess it's a good thing that I'm not in charge of...anything, as I would have these asshats, regardless of their agenda, jerked outta there in a New York minute. Those little town blues. Where's Frank Reagan when we need him?

    This is ridiclous.

  2. Well, if it's from the NYTimes...😏

Apparently, the folks that are paid big bux to broadcast this tourament are ignorant as hell (I have often suspected this), as multiple times, one or another of them referred to the AC. 🤷‍♀️

Not sure I even really considered that there would be conventional "air conditioning", as the cost to install and run it would have to be astronomical, but, there are sport stadiums that have it. Since we are apparently hurling toward the time that we shall all spontaneously combust, tptb might want to figure it out.

  3. What next level assholery prompts the USTA or USOpen or whomever decides, to NOT close the roof and put the AC on today?

The outside courts are outside and can benefit if only in small measure from breeze, but it shouldn't be a punishment to rise to AA stadium status.

I'm surprised they aren't carting people off on stretchers, both spectators and players.

Ugh, I do not enjoy watching heatstroke tennis. Is it going to take a player passing out to close the roof and give them some relief. What is the big deal?!

    Jinx, lol!

  4. Party of one here, but I really dislike Ben's braggadocio. It's very off-putting to me. I know that some are drawn to those who call attention to themselves in that manner, but I just don't happen to be one.

Accomplish great tennis, then concentrate on the Instagram theatrics when you can no longer get the ball over the net son.

I'm sure advertisers will be flocking to him, so there will be no escaping it. 😏

Saw Madison’s interview with Chrissy and the other woman whose name I have forgotten.  First question from Chrissy was about her engagement and giant ring.  They asked about the match but also about renovating the new house she bought and how her fiancé coach make it work.  They ended the interview with “congratulations, especially that ring!”  It was horrific.

I could not believe what I was seeing when she snatched Madison's finger to gawk at her ring. Then the comment "I've been married three times and didn't have a ring like that!" (the shot heard all the way to Australia, or perhaps Saudi Arabia). Keep it classy Chris.

  6. I'm imagining a spirited debate; one which pits original against referential. Both things could be considered subjective somewhat, and as others have mentioned, all designs have roots from the work of other people (arguably).

For me, I think I prefer well-crafted but referntial (not talking copy), vs. originality that misses the mark.

I can't think of a single challenge/episode where the designs were universally thought to be adherent to the "rules" laid out for them.

Hate is a strong word, and when you hate someone despite one's success at Cincy or South Bend, it's at the sports level.  Not in real life.

That being said, there are several people who'll pick a champion before the season starts, then they'll be out before Week 2 when things go South right away.  Then there's me, who is still looking forward to this season, and maybe even more!

BK never did anything to me, and one can't hardly argue the good he did for my Irish, but yeah, I enjoyed the hell outta that final score.

    Irrational? Probably

  8. Is it only me that is having trouble hearing the talking heads over the background noise at sporting events? This FL v LSU game is a good example. I get that the crowd is part of the ambience if you will, but if you can't moderate the sound to where I can actually hear your overpaid announcers, why have them there?

I'm noticing this across all networks and events.

  9. I would have traveled to New York and personally nursed Johnny Mac (who I can barely tolerate) back to health had I known that we would be subjected to so much Brad Gilbert.

I want to throw things at my television.

    Make.him.shut.up.

Even Coco couldn't get him to shut his trap, and she's paying him to talk to her.

Any ideas how to simultaneously hold a cat down and inject them? Attempt #1 didn't go well, and may have ended with her leaping off of the bed and the syringe flying out of her scruff, spinning until it landed needle-first into the carpet.

I live alone, and Ginny is too scared of other humans to be able to have somebody come over for her injection.

Of course, now she won't let me near her either. *sigh*

Logistics to work out as far as where to hang it from (closet?), but I can sort of see this working...maybe, lol. Lik Bastet said, maybe keep a favorite treat bag hangieg in front of it, or perhaps some catnip involvement. It doesn't immobilize their head, so don't know if that would be problematic.

Why did Law Roach say he couldn't wear a baseball cap backwards because he was from the South side of Chicago?

I heard that, and wondered as well. My uninformed white girl brain wondered if it was some gang affiliation thing. Probably ignorant, but 'splain yourself, and we won't have to wonder.
