It's obviously an alternate universe where the KGB never fell, but I do think it's this century, because, unfortunately, in both universes, the "comedy" stylings of Dane Cook still exist.

Although if his fiancee is the one who figures out he's a fake and has to lead a rescue mission, that might be interesting.

S01.E03: Two Balls / S01.E04: Comedy Gold
CletusMusashi replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Galavant [V]
Yeah, that was a really weird sudden ending. In fact, I thought it had gone to a commercial break plugging the next episode, and was sitting there thinking how odd that was, until a couple minutes went by and I realized they'd simply quit in the middle of the scene and jumped to a new story. -

I partially agree. A lot of supposedly great plays have a lot of mediocre tunes and pathetic comic delivery. But that doesn't make it stop being a bad thing. Bad, hammy satire works best in small doses. If I'm watching an old Simpsons episode, and they show a scene from one of Troy McClure's bad movies, it's funny. For like 45 or 50 seconds. But with the possible exceptions of "The Muppets Go Medieval" and that "Planet of the Apes" musical, watching a full half hour of one of those gags would be kind of painful. And this thing is four hours. Not polishing it up to the next level isn't some deconstructionist stylistic whatchamageniusthingy. It's just laziness. -
Being a "Hitler clone" could also refer to the fact that he's from a line of clones originally given the go-ahead by Hitler. That's kind of a stigma that would be hard to shake no matter what. Even Volkswagens have to deal with it.
-
My problem with the "Hitler clone" idea is that he doesn't look like Hitler. Pick whichever Hitler you want. Actual Hitler: 5'8", blue eyes, very dark brown hair. Pop-culture Hitler: Anywhere from 5'3" all the way down to Stewie Griffin's height, brown eyes, black hair. Krieger and sibs: Probably 6', green eyes, and medium brown hair. I love the idea of him being a Nazi clone. It totally fits the whole batshit mad scientist persona they've written around him. But making clones of a famous person that don't actually look like that person, or at least like what everybody thinks that person looked like, is kind of a confusing choice. Plus, since when is Adolph Hitler himself remembered as an ingenious scientist and inventor? That seems to be the main schtick of the Krieger clones. Not, say, loud angry public speaking. Or violent paranoid insanity. Or a compulsion to make really bad mustache decisions. Cloned from a one of Hitler's rocket scientists or something... now that makes more sense.

I agree. I like Daryl, and so I tend to sort of ignore whatever the fuck is going on with his hair. Just like I force out all thoughts about how godawful Michonne's long spongy locks must reek of zombie gore, because I like Michonne. But at least with Michonne, it's iconically built into the character. With Daryl, not so much. Whenever I watch early seasons, I'm always thrown, time after time, by how much early Daryl looks like how a character with Daryl's background and personality would look. Lack of a weird random greasy dye-job certainly never stopped his character from becoming enormously popular, so it just seems completely pointless.

So who is this Edmund Burke guy that he's cloned from? Wikipeida lists several, but none look like an obvious fit.
-
So a lot of Nazis could still be alive and well too? I admit, that does have possibilities.

My biggest problem was that it's simply too late to have a still physically fit Japanese soldier running around from WWII. He didn't even seem like he was 70, much less like he was in his 90s. Woodhouse's age works because they play it up, Monty Burns style. This, however, was just a potentially good idea that ended up being distractingly flawed.

The Walking Dead Corrupt a Wish Game
CletusMusashi replied to CletusMusashi's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
I wish Axel had lived. He does. Axel and Carol become an item, and Carol is too busy having wild monkey sex to kill Karen and David. Or to spend time with Lizzie. Lizzie, not having anything else to do, takes a pair of wire cutters to the fence and lets in all the zombies. The only survivors are Axel, Lizzie, and Carl's Hat. I wish we knew more about the funeral home. -

I didn't particularly like the music. It seemed like if they simply cut the songs out, the "event" would have been done with in a half hour instead of an hour and would have lost nothing. The lyrics weren't very clever or surprising, and the tunes were pretty much "Generic Show Tune Number 3X5b." But the music didn't make me want to gouge out my ears. It just seemed like a waste. The inability of most of the cast to sell comedy was what really hurt the show for me. The reason I never fully liked the "Producers" remake was that they replaced Gene Wilder's crazed, miserable, disheveled wreck of a character with Mathew Fucking Broderick, who spent the entire movie winking and smirking at the audience while doing jazz hands at random times. I had the same feeling, scene after scene, watching "Galavant," that I had watching "The Producers 2.0" The best way to kill a joke is... to kill it. I can be telling the funniest joke in the world, but if every half sentence or so I have to stop in order to jab you with my elbow and giggle about what a great joke-teller I am, the punchline is going to suffer badly. Strangely, what I liked best was the actual plot. Both episodes featured interesting twists that I did not see coming. The overall outline of what each character does over the course of each show seems like there might be a good story there. I'll actually give it another chance on Sunday, because I actually am wondering what happens next. However, I can't consider the series an actual success when it's trying so hard to be a musical comedy and failing to impress me on either level. -
These have been done for many shows here. I think this one is overdue. Rules: First person makes a wish. Say, for example: "I wish the Karen/David arc had never happened." Next person (whoever responds first) grants the wish in the same way that an evil genie might. And then makes their own wish. Something like: I wish the Karen/David arc had never happened. Wish granted! They die of natural causes, Carol never get exiled. Instead she eventually gets gunned down while shooting Brillip. When eventually the CDB survivors are captured by Termites, there is nobody to rescue them except Tyreese, who is too busy running for his life from Lizzy and her zombie minions. I wish Shane hadn't killed Otis. Or, whatever. Next person corrupts that wish, and then resets the game by making one of their own. OK, here we go for real: I wish that Beth had escaped with Noah.

This was not good. -
And only by one person. Merle knew perfectly well that the Governor would kill him on sight. He was only using Michonne as a tool to get close enough to kill The Governor first. The only one who honestly bought into the idea that they could appease their way to safety by kissing Govern-ass was Rick Grimes.
