  1. Plus how much makeup do you want a regular to have! The scar and wig are annoying enough. Peter Dinklage put his foot down when it was suggested he wear a green sock on his nose so it could be digitally removed like the book Tyrion. A smart decision. The scars are plenty of work.
  2. Yes and no. They drugged him silly at the end but I think Otto wanted time. Time for Aegon to grow up, time for their dragons to grow more, time to build alliances, etc. Rhyneara wasn't the only one protected by her father. He kept it all stable until he died.
  3. I think they would have all been killed in their beds like Rhynerys could have been. Clearly the small council was prepared to act. The Kingsguard might have made things messy but with enough of Larys' creeps I think everyone but Daemon would have gone down fast. And Daemon isn't superman. People would have grumbled but Aemon is the king's son. And so long as the government functions who cares outside the Red Keep?
  4. Viserys was ill and drug addled but he was never senile. His Long Walk to the throne and speech at dinner indicate a man who had his wits. Paddy was so magnificent. He probably won't win awards but his arc moved me. He went from a hopeful, relatively young man (a summer Lord) to a pain riddled near corpse who knew he had failed but hoped he hadn't. It's a full on tragedy.
  5. Heck, I perked up. He is the closest character to Ser Daavos I have gotten this season. And like Daemon he has battle experience but a cooler head. Rhynaera for all her teenage talk does not seem battle ready . And I don't mean because of her miscarriage. She's not a warrior physically. We haven't seen her maneuver on her dragon. BTW, Dany riding without a saddle always seemed more respectful towards her dragons. A saddle is a human convenience.
  6. Jaime shoved an adorable 8 year old out of a window and had an epic near redemption (enough that he seemed worthy to knight Ser Brienne). For fans of Aemond, I think there's some wiggle room. The actor has tons of charisma which helps a Fandom. He will be great on the Con circuit.
  7. Luce was defending his brother and as the smaller fighter, yeah you take your best shot. Which may have been why his dragon went for the big dragon's eyes too. The only option other than hiding. Which would have been smarter but I think Dany once said dragons always attack, never retreat when attacked. It's instinct. He got his revenge so yes, spiritually he should be good.
  8. Random question but did Jaime ever get justice for his hand? We know Varys got payback for his balls. That was one very cold revenge. .
  9. I haven't read the books so aside from its name, I figured he was wooing a dragon. The show has been good at showing Daemon more in touch with dragon raising than anyone else. And based on Aemond's bonding in the earlier ep, it felt like the same process. Aemon was just, you know, cooler. I did like Rhyneara knew what he was doing. And yeah the downside of dragonriding is you have zero backup on the ground. I thought that immediately. It's why Tyrion and Ser Mormont didn't want Dany flying to The North alone. Dragon or no dragon it just takes one arrow or dagger. Your army can't protect you 100s of miles away.
  10. I am actually way more interested in seeing all the other Houses and finding out how they calculate which side to support. Baratheon's scornful comment about "You Targaryens " was telling. They are still invaders and foreigners, 100+ years in. So as far as we know, only three dragons with riders have battle experience. Daemon's, SeaSmoke, and Aemond's. Also as far as we know, there have never been this many dragons in a war. The Conqeror only had three and it sounds like the three siblings took different parts of Westeros. So maybe too many dragons is a bad thing. Too volatile. Maybe those wild dragons just come out to play like wild cards. I have no idea. But I hope the world widens to include a lot more leads. I want my new Daavos, Brienne, Bronn...
  11. I guess? Tyrion seemed to ride his kin AND queenslaying into a cushy civil servant role. Well technically he didn't kill Dany but he really really encouraged it. I get the feeling the Martells kill each other on the regular too but that's Dorne.
  12. Yes that was the case. Maybe he has dyslexia or poor eyesight or wasn't good with his tutors. He might be good at math or hunting or putting good people in place. I thought it was a nice touch actually.
  13. Well, except we have Larys who assassinates people if Alicent indicates it needs doing. And Larys strongly suggested to Otto he could help him out too. Otto specifically is not to be trusted. He's good at looking respectable on the surface. Seduce a grieving king but make it official. Aegon crowned in the proper way with all the symbols of power. Play nice at a very uncomfortable family dinner. Etc. Rhynaers is lucky he didn't just smother her in the night.
  14. Ditto. Rhyners may be a Queen of Thorns type. Causing issues behind the scenes.
  15. Probably not. But we can hope for those kickass Martells to roll in. GOT never served them well and they're so complex and cool.
  16. I believe Aemond and Helena love each other. I think Alicent loves her children and they respect her but I think it was weird Aemond didn't move to protect her when the dragon roared. Helena seems more annoyed by her mother's inability to listen to her. She gave a perfectly clear warning. Twice now! Good odds really. I think both Alicient and Rhynaera are flawed and capable in different ways. Alicient seems to know how to run a kingdom a bit better- the dull day to day. Rhynaera seems to have a big picture idea of ruling. The destiny piece. If only they teamed up. But that's a different story unfortunately.
  17. Now the season is over, this is my favorite episode. The most balanced in terms of character screen time, nuance, and action.
  18. Summer other than Ghost had the most on screen time. But justice for Lady, Shaggydog, and Greywind too!
  19. That's a fair take. A miscarriage like that is just so physically draining I had a hard time believing she could ride her dragon that soon. She seemed fairly comfortable when she was pregnant. Many women are in the 2nd trimester. I kept thinking about it for the whole ep. I am not sure why the writers thought bookending the first and last eps with dead babies was elegant. The ep 1 death was very necessary. This one was not.
  20. Gossip isn't proof however. This show has a lot of gossip--the parentage of Rhynaera's boys, if Rhynaera had sex or not, all the stories about Aemon, Daemon's dead wife, etc. But yeah it probably won't be a plot point other than how Aemond decides to spin it.
  21. It was another unclaimed dragon. The second largest after Aemond's. Matt Smith is so sexy when he is wooing a CGI creature. And in Valaryian too.
  22. Can't he be both? Bloodthirsty and incompetent but learn from his terrible error? Then again why are we assuming people know what happened? It was cloudy, they were far away. People could assume but there are no eyewitness. And if they were over water, no bodies. All they know for sure is Luke has disappeared. Daemon of all people knows how to dodge a murder rap.
  23. It's a good set up for season 2 but lacked finale energy in my opinion. Eve Best is a sly performer and I find myself not trusting her at all. Did you see her look at Daemon when he automatically counted Melyous in their dragon count. The labor porn was a bit frustrating. And a missed opportunity. I would have preferred to see a fully pregnant Rhynaera going to war at the end. This fully pregnant mother who is seething with revenge. I think Daemon was reminding Rhynaera how fragile she is without the trappings of power. I think that was what the choking meant. That she needs to be a killer or needs to have killers on her side. It's why she married him. Six years of domestic life hasn't changed that reality. It's why Sansa needed Brienne for a while. It's why Arya became a murdering machine. It's why the Tyrells used poison (and the Martells). Which isn't to say diplomacy can't work but wow she blew it with Lord Baratheon. Otto totally outsmarted her and used his extra days well. She's not great with people unfortunately. And that's okay. She can't be perfect. And Emma still plays her just a bit timid other than the furious birthing scenes. She's not a Queen yet. I am all in for season 2.
  24. Very cool. So cool, why an eyepatch? I really wish he had kept a cooler head and was satisfied scaring Luke again. I mean that was all humiliating enough, being outsmarted, having your mother insulted, made to scramble in the hall a bit.
