  1. Lovely observation and proof that yes, people can make different choices and move on. Gerri and Frank both of whom I enjoy a lot, chose to stay. And we see Jess finally walk away too. So nice Armstrong gave her that moment.
  2. I agree. Only Leighton and Whitney work for me. Bela has potential if she just dialed it back. But I deeply dislike watching Kimberly. Her entire being and performance annoys me. And I want to like the working class girl from suburbia. She's just so flat and awkward and lacks charisma. Whereas Leighton owns her scenes. She reminds me of Busy Philips.
  3. I don't think making the timeline for this season roughly a week quite worked. I still give Armstrong credit for trying something new but he couldn't quite capture the weird, surreal feeling of losing a parent over the whole season. It felt more like weeks had passed between eps. So when Roman has a freak out and Shiv responds emotionally it makes sense on paper. Their dad died a week ago. They should still be reeliing. But given all the jet setting and location changes, it doesn't feel right. Example: Connor had the apartment ready for tagging 48 hours after the funeral? It was funny and a great set piece but too fast. Could or would Marcia leave that fast? Shiv & Tom's recconciliation and breakup in 24 hours? I really think it was the Norway to LA that was a mistake. Everything that happened in LA could have been in New York. And Caroline's house was in Bermuda which is 2 hours by plane from NYC. A hop for them. But that was 4 separate planes! Oh boy.
  4. Stewy made money, no matter what happened. I think he shook Tom's hand too. That's what I meant.
  5. I don't think anyone died. I remember he was relieved because it was less of a hassle with no fatalities. I could be wrong but pretty sure it was an unmanned rocket.
  6. Armstrong's discipline to avoid melodrama is impressive. That would have been too much. Armstrong said he may never write another show as good as this one. Maybe. I think he should do a proper comedy to clear his head. I would love to see him work with McFayden again.
  7. This is the joy of McFayden in this role. He has had moments of calmness. When the headquarters were raided by the feds and he was talking to advertisers he was steady and charming. He kept his nerve to always back Logan when it always seemed like Logan at best tolerated him. He was calm when Logan had his UTI insanity and calm when Logan died. But McFayden could also make him an idiot too and a bully. His bullying sucks but it feels more like a middle class man striving versus Ken and Roman's nastiness. He is a pain sponge. I think about how he took Karl's brutal assessment of him. How he took Roman's snideness. Kendall's condesation. I am pretty sure Marcia dumped on him once. And he soaked it all up.
  8. To be fair, Connor knew it too. I have hope for Roman. Can a fascist snob evolve? Maybe. He also has humor on his side. Anyone who can laugh at themselves has hope in my opinion. He may never be good, but he can be less awful, less harmful. I really liked his ending. Connor, Roman, Kendall, then Shiv for the rankings. Shiv's dead eyes kind of killed me. I have never liked her, but seeing her blank was depressing.
  9. That poor child is going to be more screwed up than the Roy sibs. If it is a girl, I see Tom spoiling her rotten and transferring all his thrawted love on to her. If it is a boy, Shiv will take an interest and compete for his love. It will be Cersei with her boys. She will undermine Tom's authority all the time. And poor Tom with his normal childhood will be out manuevered. Oh, I see Willa having a kid maybe. It would keep Connor occupied (I think he would be a great, weird dad).
  10. Agreed. Tom is just plausible enough. But I see him let go in a few years. Corporate reshuffling.
  11. They have a British mother. I don't really notice it. I like the dialogue. They sound like real people.
  12. None of the siblings are good people although Kendall is the only one to have knowingly killed a person. That said, I liked this ending for Roman. And Keiran. Connor clearly has the best ending objectively. He even had bonding time with dad. But Keiran got a drink I think was Gerri's preferred cocktail and got to look cool one last time. Shiv looked miserable. As did Kendall. And Tom. Honestly it was a good day to be Karl and Frank and Stewie.
  13. Some people saw it as Kendall popping the stitches open. I think it is deliberately ambiguous. But Roman does calm down immediately.
  14. He needs to reconsider being so method!
  15. Honestly it feels very temporary to me. I see Tom gone in a few years unless he gets stock and a place on the board. He is a hired face.
  16. Actually that reassured me a lot. Colin wouldn't let him die. I actually think Logan liked Willa and he wasn't a man of refined taste. That decor was all Marcia. I loved seeing Connor's video of the dinner. Seeing Kerry snuggle Logan. Gerri being bawdy. Elegant Frank.
  17. I loved this ending for Keiran the actor. He made me adore Roman until the election ep. And I am happy he has less real power. Money yes, power no. A win for the world.
  18. I rewatched again. I had forgotten the moment when Frank asks Roman if he is okay. Frank kind of depresses me. He seems like a good man. He probably IS a good man in general. But he enabled Logan. Maybe he didn't know Logan hit Roman, but he knew he was cruel. I guess the money was good. I also saw Gil (Eric Boransomething) in the audience and a person with a shock of white hair behind him I think is a real writer or journalist. Finally it is interesting Caroline married a man not disimilar to Tom. Peter is eager, awkward, and terribly subservient. I hate the word "agendize"
  19. Greg weirdly seems too obvious. But I can see Jessie Armstrong the satirist being amused about a tall white guy failing upward. Each season Greg rises a little more. He seems to have a nose for the winning side too. What I really want to see is how the kids end up. I think they are a surprisingly tight family and will ultimately stick together once the game is over.
  20. I think Jessie Armstrong doesn't care about real business details. It was all busy work to move the plot. I never bother with it. Whereas I do find the Menken plotline much more vivid and upsetting. Roman caused a riot. Or street protests. Tom said Baltimore was burning too. So it was kind of cool to see Roman literally stepped on by the people he stirred up with his "good night of television". That said, he had to work for that moment! Walk away from security, ignore the cops, jump a barrier and get in someone's face! The world is designed to keep him so safe.
  21. Maybe I've lost track, but wasn't that exactly what Mattson said he was going to do? Yes which is why I think Kendall freaked out a bit. To see Logan's legacy torn to bits. Even though Logan didn't seem to care. I would say nothing lasts but doesn't Japan have businesses that are hundreds of years old? And England? Maybe not media empires...
  22. Ha! I can defend this choice. The show just biffed the execution and the actor was not quite up to the task. Greg winning is too obvious. I think the opening credits have always told us. Geri, Stewie, Frank, and that other person who is clearly not one of the kids. I think Armstrong is the kind of jokester who would just show us.
  23. meatball burger would be a fusion dish in this case American /Italian, which doesn't really work because Matsson is a swede. I thought Swedish meatballs immediately. I love the broken dialogue. It is how real people converse. I do watch with subtitles on because they speak fast.
  24. She is the only Roy who hasn't had a public meltdown. She is the more moderate face of the family too. She also never publically went against her dad other than working in politics which also made her useful connections. She could potentially have Gerri and Karolina on her side. Potentially. She has done nothing to woo them, alas. Ken at least approached Frank, Conner, and Hugo early. I was struck that all four kids stuck close at the funeral and cemetary. The three core kids even drove to the church together despite Ken being furious with Shiv (Roman didn't seem surprised or fussed about her betrayal honestly). Endgame...nobody wins but I can picture the four of them having lunch or drinks together after the dogfight. The Roys are family, survivors of crap parents. Ewan said in season one when Ken asked him to vote against Logan, "He is still my brother." They're horrible, toxic people who might be better humans far far away from each other but they can't quit each other.
  25. Other shows are filled with horrible people but I really don't have anyone I am rooting for other than Jimenez to win the election. It would be nice if Tom got out but he is also horrible. Willa is the least horrible person in the core family other than the grandkids.
