I can see the need to try to downplay the two year age gap given that, as pretty much everyone has noted, she looks as if she could easily be her mid-thirties, and he looks maybe 14.  Jeremy and Jinger look closer in age.

Of course, I also think that the wiser move here would have been to suggest that they wait until Justin was at least 20, preferably 24 or 25.

She doesn't look anywhere near mid-thirties. She doesn't look like an infant like he does, but she certainly doesn't look old for her age.

The comment about not being "forced" to wear a mask makes me sick. Let's hope none of the guests or bridal party is "forced" into the hospital and onto a ventilator, or worse.

I can't wait to see what Michelle wore to this wedding....and another ill-fitting suit for Jim bob.

Maybe Jim Bob wore Justin's suit, and Justin wore Jim Bob's. We'll know if we see photos of Jim Bob wearing high water pants and a jacket that fails to hide his gut.

I'm not covid shaming here because we all know covid is like a terrorist and can sneak up and attack even the most careful. But we know the Bates have not been careful - at all.

What I don't understand is how the Bates, knowing through personal experience that covid can happen twice, are still not taking precautions. Not only do they know it can happen twice, they know it can result in permanent complications. And their grandmother's husband died from it.

It seems, much like the Duggars, the Bates took covid somewhat seriously for the first two weeks of lockdown, starting mid-March. By April they all acted as if covid didn't exist, even though they were all getting it.

Not counting grandchildren, the Bates, Rods and Duggars add up to 57 Typhoid Marys. Add in the inlaws and the number increases to somewhere around 75. IMO, its because of folks like these the death toll from covid has reached a half million in the US.

I wouldn't be so bothered if they only put themselves at risk. But they're putting innocents, including their own children, at risk, and that's not acceptable. Erin Bates is a moron.

I had covid in November, thanks to maskholes and hoaxers at work. I was careful to the extent that certain people there made fun of me, and I still got it, probably because I had to take my mask off to eat (at my desk). Covid is no joke, contrary to what the Duggars and Bateses and Rods think. I hope the Claritin wedding doesn't turn out to be a super-spreader.

It looks like Claire has a modesty panel up by her collarbone. Odd, since the original neckline isn't that much lower.

I don't know if it's a modesty panel or just a layered effect, like her sleeves. If it is a modesty panel, it's well done.

  5. It makes me so sad that they married off an eighteen-year-old boy. Is this the youngest Duggar marriage since Mullet herself? Weren't the youngest Duggar brides nineteen?

Her hair looks especially pretty, and her dress is stylishly modest. Fundies, take note. Justin -- stop wearing Jim Bob's clothes.

500000 dead people, a city the size of Atlanta or almost the entire population of Wyoming, have passed away from this terrible disease. It's disgusting but I can't say I'm surprised they are doing this at all considering the amount of fucks they have given about it so far.

Almost two and a half million worldwide. But I bet this garbage thinks it's a hoax or no big deal or they have some BS "medical reason" why they can't wear masks, just like the scum I got it from at work.

Topic: I'd like to know what is really going through Jill's tiny little brain. Is she excited or mad? Looking forward to a grandchild or jealous that it isn't her pregnancy?

To the contrary, she was all AMEN! when Nathan gave his sermon about worshipping oneself on social media. She TOTALLY missed the point.

Jill would miss the point if it were a wrecking ball.

If Nathan had any potential to grow a set, the Rods wouldn't have made so many trips to Floriduh already (and vice versa). Jill has practically climbed into the marital bed with Nathan and Nurie.

Super snark -- I hope for its sake that the baby looks like neither parent nor any grandparent. Let's hope there are some deeply recessed genes in the family tree.

She’s understandably overweight but she hasn’t reached that level of obese where she looks permanently pregnant.

I did not say or mean that Ofsmuggar is overweight; l was referring to her shape after six kids.

Mullet isn't obese, but she looked pregnant for years after her last.

Yes, a family of 6 girls, one singleton and a set of quints, on the TLC show Outdaughtered. Not Fundy, but the mom does make quite a few Christian references.

I think the oldest is 9 or 10 and the quints are 5 or 6. All much too young to have their teeth whitened.

There's a special hell for people who monetize their own children AND do shit like that to them. Next stop, rhinoplasty to make them more telegenic?

There's a video showing Anna's midsection. She's pregnant. Anna has given birth in every odd year since they were married.

She's had six kids, and she likely lives on a heavily processed diet. She probably always looks pregnant. Until SHE announces it, it's just more rampant speculation.

She’s full in the face and didn’t post a whole body shot. Confirming her pregnancy.

If Ofsmuggar (or anybody else) had been pregnant every time somebody here claimed she was because she's "full in the face" or whatever, she'd have 12 kids by now.

That said, if she continues on her previous timeline, she'll be announcing sometime this summer or fall. Her kids, except Mackynzie and Michael, have all been two years or two years + a few months apart.

In this crowd, where alcohol is demonized and followers try to prevent its legal sale in local stores, even having a couple of drinks is a big act of rebellion.  For most of us, born to parents who were known to have a drink or two on occasion or even get outright sauced; a couple of beers at a high school party would be par for the course.  Austin was raised in a far more conservative way than most of us and even a couple of drinks would be considered a huge violation of the standards.

I don't know if anyone here ever watched the really awful but snarkable show Seventh Heaven; but there was a plot on the show that demonstrates my point.  The show is about a conservative Christian minister and his wife; I don't think there was a specific denomination.  They had 5 kids, eventually 7, on the show.  The kids were raised in an incredibly sheltered hothouse environment on the show and behaved in ways that normal teenagers do not.  The second oldest was a girl named Mary (played by Jessica Biel, now Mrs Justin Timberlake).  Mary was the family rebel, always getting into trouble.  She was thrown off the girls' basketball team in high school because they TP'd the school gym after the coach cracked down on them for their grades (oh noes!!!).  Mary also had the audacity to date a kid who was a teen father and although he worked and went to school and supported his kid; he was clearly a terrible person for having had THE SEX and the parents hated him.  Eventually, while babysitting for some friends, Mary drank half a beer after the kids were asleep.  That's right, HALF A BEER!  The parents found out and you would've thought she;'d knocked over a liquor store and drank a fifth of vodka in the parking lot.  They immediately sent her to her grandparents in Buffalo (they lived in California) to teach her a lesson and get her back on the straight and narrow.  BTW,  she was a high school graduate and 18 years old when this occurred, but the parents still forced it to happen; going so far as to purchase the plane ticket and drive her to the airport just hours after discovering the transgression.  It was nuts, but I don't doubt the Duggars would react in similar fashion.

ETA: The reason why Mary was written off the show is because Jessica Biel did an interview complete with suggestive photos for Maxim and the producer felt she had insulted the show.  The star of the show, playing the minister, was Stephen Collins who some of you may remember was involved in a sex scandal involving abuse of a 14 year old girl. He remained on the show until the bitter end.

I watched that show on occasion. The scary thing is that in some ways, the Camdens (the minister's family) were almost progressive for fundies. Their oldest son, for instance, married a Jewish girl who was the daughter of a rabbi*. They had an interfaith wedding. Can you imagine being allowed in Duggar World?

*The wedding episode was especially laughable. The bride looked a fair bit like Carlin Bates and even did that stupid open-mouthed, poor acting thing all during her walk down the aisle.

Isn’t he supposed to assume that heart failure is God’s plan for him and just wait for heaven?

A million in donations. Every time I try convince myself that the human species isn’t entirely stupid something like this comes along.

Even if they didn't want to spend it on infidel scum, think of how many fundie families are doing without (despite "gawd will provide") who could really, really use some of that grift money just to feed their kids and keep them warm.

Something tells me that if Voddie Baucham survives his million-dollar heart treatment, he won't come out in favor of an exercise program and plant-based diet, nor will he acknowledge the education and training that allowed his medical team to care for him. He'll give all the credit to gawd and keep asking for donations.

What is weird is how in season 11 it went from never hearing about the center, to all of the sudden Carter is meeting with Anspaugh and they are discussing options on the drawings. Then a couple episodes later he is meeting with Weaver, the drawings are pretty much ready for tender and he is agreeing to pay for the whole thing and set up an endowment to fund operations. Then by the end of the season they have apparently tendered the project signed a contractor and construction is well underway. So they can rush all of those steps (which take time) but actual construction takes 4 years?

As far as fund raising for the rest of your life that doesn't sound that bad. Being the chairman of the Carter Foundation probably pays pretty well. And you get to meet with rich people and go to fancy parties and charity events.

None of which Carter was interested in. He made it clear, over the course of nearly the entire series, that he didn't want the life of John Carter, Rich Man. He wanted to just be John Carter, MD. That was one of the big conflicts between him and Gamma.

Speaking from personal experience (cat rescue), fundraising sucks.

As far as the timeline goes, Uncle Jesse went from paramedic one week to intern the next to doing thoracotomies by himself a few months later, all the while looking like he just got off a three-day bender. Why would the Carter Center's timeline be any more realistic?

I think the Carter Center was going to be free care, and with their service for the underserved patients, and clinics, they would be like St. Jude, where they have a lot of donors, but always need more.

Carter said to Lewis and Weaver in the finale that he'd be fundraising for the rest of his life. He did say at one point, seasons earlier, that his family foundation was covering all the construction costs.

Absolutely not a coincidence. The Bateseseses are just copycats who've never had an original idea of their own. Everything about them is just a ripoff.

Harry and Archie did it much, much better.

Actually, there are certain strains of American Protestants who view that part of Florida as a pilgrimage site.  They view those French Huguenots as some of the first American Martyrs.  I first read about it a couple of years ago when I read Tony Horwitz's A Voyage Long and Strange.  It is possible that Jill knows about it.  The Rods have visited St. Augustine and it's environs more than once.

I doubt someone like Jill Rod is one of them. She's willfully ignorant.

My thoughts exactly.  Did they just think it would make for a cool picture?  I just don't get it.

    Yes, that's what they thought.

My comment about "kids will be kids" meaning only the right kind of kids -- do you think the Rods would be all peachy keen with kids defiling a historic site if those kids were Black, Muslim, LGBTQ+, or otherwise unlike the Rods themselves?
