  1. Yeah Nora was good in Teenage Wasteland, she did her job well. I loved the meeting of the DAs discussing the case. It’s an interesting case, the perp was evil and I don’t think he even felt remorse over killing a guy for just to see what it felt like, the defense attorney made a good point though that at 18 nothing was certain. It was a very good case, I think the circumstances of the murder probably warranted a death sentence but the defense attorney raised valid points. Yeah Celia should’ve been sent to prison in Phobia, I didn’t get why the DAs offered her a get out of jail free card, she was very selfish and it was her actions that resulted in the murder, she didn’t intend for anyone to die but it doesn’t matter because she set up the kidnapping plot. Celia had some gall to approach the adoptive dad outside the courthouse, Albers would’ve had every right to go off on Celia and tell her to fuck herself. If Celia cared so much about her son she wouldn’t have tried to take him from two loving parents and gotten one of them killed and then left him with a murderer. Fuck Celia. It’s still a great episode and I love Jack’s closing and his cross of the perp and his putting Albers on the stand to counter the defense’s bigotry. Swept Away is a great episode as well - very good plot about the reality show. Van Buren’s “never seen it, already hate it” line was funny. I felt some sympathy for the killer since the murder was an accident and he didn’t know he had been set up to get into a fight with the guy. Season 11 is filled with great episodes.
  2. Season 11 has a slew of awesome episodes - the 3 episodes I just watched, Teenage Wasteland, Phobia and A Losing Season, are great, that’s as strong of a 3 episode run as any in L&O history just about. Teenage Wasteland is gripping and thought provoking episode - I’m honestly not sure if I would’ve voted for the death penalty or not at the end if I were on the jury - the perp was evil and committed a senseless murder just because he wanted to, and I don’t even think he was sorry, he only expressed remorse when it was undeniable he did it, at first he said he didn’t know anything, then he said his friends did the murder, and when he finally said he was sorry it seemed very insincere. But the defense attorney made a very valid point when he said nothing is certain at the age of 18, so there was a possibility of the perp changing in the future. Regardless I don’t think he should ever be free again and I think that influenced the jury’s decision to vote for the death penalty, given that if they didn’t the judge could’ve given him a shot at parole. Jack’s argument was strong as well, and it was chilling how he described the victim’s brutal and senseless death. I loved the scene with all of the DAs discussing their views on the case, I liked seeing Nora call them all together and had them discuss it. The investigation was strong as well, I liked how Briscoe/Green tracked down the teens involved. Phobia is great as well - I loved Jack’s passionate closing to counter the defense’s pathetic and homophobic arguments - the perp was nothing but a murderous gay bashing scumbag, he didn’t give a fuck about his child, he just hated gays. And his lawyer was likely a homophobe as well, it sure seemed like she agreed with her client’s bigotry. Jack’s closing was great, he blatantly called out the defense, saying that they were arguing the victim deserved to die, which is what the defense lawyer was saying when saying the case wasn’t a murder, even though the victim was brutally beaten to death and the autopsy showed he was beaten long after he was able to fight back, Jack pointed this out and then talked about how the victim and his partner cared for child and took it in when no one else would, and that the defense was saying it was that love that justified the victim’s death and then declaring “I hope you’ll decide it deserves better than that” - it’s one of Jack’s best and most effective closings, and I was very glad the jury convicted. Jack getting the perp to basically call the victim a pervert on cross was great as well, and I liked that Jack called the victim’s partner Albers on rebuttal and I liked the testimony he gave and how the guy let the defense lawyer have it saying that the victim had a temper when he had to deal with hate and mean spirited people. I also liked the detective work and how Briscoe/Green tracked down Celia and I liked Anita dealing with the woman who was involved with helping battered women. But I thought Celia got off very easy, no she didn’t intend for the victim to die but she knew her baby daddy hated gays and that was the only reason he would try to help her get the kid, she set the plot in motion and she deserved a prison sentence, I was unsure of why they gave her such a slap on the wrist, maybe they didn’t want the custody issue to take center stage since Celia was on drugs when she signed away her rights, but Celia deserved a prison sentence, and she was whiny and selfish and didn’t even seem that sorry that a man died or that her selfish acts robbed the child of a parent who loved him. I hope Albers kept the child far away from her. A Losing Season is another great one, I love the twists and turns the case took, with it looking like a carjacking then the basketball player became the suspect and it looked like it was about drugs then it became about him being the father of the victim’s child and he didn’t want to pay child support. A lot of good twists. Just a very strong investigation and legal stuff, very good episode all around. Season 11 is a really great season, so many stellar episodes.
  3. Yeah the old guy from Sundown was a nasty person, he didn’t even feel remorse about killing his wife or go for help after attacking her. I didn’t get why his daughter so was attached to him. I liked how Skoda got him to show his true colors, Skoda was awesome. It’s a great episode - I liked the investigation of the different suspects before realizing the husband did it and the daughter was covering for him. The guy stealing hospital food was a funny subplot, I love the colorful red herring suspects like that. Yeah it was a low blow to grill Lennie about his daughter, and I think if the DAs knew the defense would do it they would’ve put Green on the stand instead to avoid that line of questioning. Lennie handled it well though. I love the cast lineup in season 10 - Briscoe/Green are my favorite detective pairing, Abbie was a good ADA and of course Jack, Anita and Adam are awesome. Season 10 was definitely L&O at its top form.
  4. Season 3 has been on ION lately, it’s an awesome season, almost every episode is great. Rossi came on in episode 6, and he’s probably my favorite character, and the BAU team really gelled this season. And there isn’t a weak episode in the season, and some of my all time favorites of CM are in this season - episodes such as Seven Seconds, Lucky, Elephant’s Memory and In Heat - Seven Seconds has great twists and great profiling and two evil villains, one of CM’s best episodes. Lucky has the extremely memorable creepy cannibal unsub and the chilling twist that he fed one victim to the search party. It’s a classic episode and the follow up in season 13 was strong as well. Elephant’s Memory has a very sympathetic unsub and is a great episode for Reid, I loved when he went off on that spineless school principal and later on the cops, and then talking the unsub into surrendering at the end. It’s a great episode. In Heat is another favorite, a lot of great profiling and one of the episodes where both victims and unsub were sympathetic. I loved Rossi and Hotch squaring off against the unsub’s homophobic bully dad and the whole investigation was good. Those 4 are my favorites of season 3 but they are all good - Identity is another excellent episode where they discover the deceased unsub had a partner who was in love with him and carrying on his crimes, Limelight and Damaged are good features for Rossi, A Higher Power is a good case, True Night has one of the most sympathetic unsubs on CM. Season 3 is really great all around.
  5. Sundown is an awesome episode, really strong case with good stuff for each character. I particularly love the scene at the DA’s office with Anita, Abbie, Skoda and ME Rodgers - it was very unique to have those 4 in a scene together. Interesting case about the old guy with Alzheimer’s who killed his wife when he discovered her affair - he was a nasty mean old asshole, I didn’t feel much sympathy for him - he didn’t kill because he had the disease, he would’ve attacked after discovering her affair whether he had Alzheimer’s or not. I liked how Skoda got him to show his true colors when he was questioning him. Jack’s final argument was spot on - he was sane when he murdered his wife, and it would be wrong to let him go just because they felt sorry for him, he was right that it the 8th Amendment didn’t apply because they weren’t inflicting cruel and unusual punishment on him, he would get the same treatment as everyone else. I was glad the judge didn’t dismiss the case. He had to be held accountable and he wasn’t legally insane - the DAs were right to work out a plea where he could live in a more humane place but he had to be punished for the murder. The con artist who was scamming women in support groups was an interesting suspect, and I liked how the investigation progressed until they discovered the husband did it, I liked Rodgers showing them the key clue of the ring impression. The guy stealing hospital food was a really funny plot point, and Rodgers “free javelins” line was great as well. It’s one of my favorite episodes. Loco Parentis is good as well, it was interesting how Adam wanted to hold the dad criminally accountable for his son’s criminal acts. I think Adam was right, the dad was enabling his son’s violent acts, he knew his son was a bully and he encouraged it and bought his son illegal weapons, one of which he used to kill someone. I was glad his wife turned on him. Adam was funny when Jack said maybe he should try the case and Adam said “oh ho ho, do I have to do all the work around here?” just the way he said it was great. It was interesting to see Abbie do some of the questioning at trial. The defense attorney going after Lennie because of his daughter’s death was kind of a low blow, maybe the DAs shouldn’t have put Lennie on the stand, I guess they never considered the defense would bring that up. Regardless Lennie did good by replying he didn’t give his daughter drugs or teach her how to sell them.
  6. That’s a pretty good episode - it was an interesting twist that the death of the mother was an accident and that the dad wasn’t responsible for it, I was certain the dad had killed the shrink because she was about to expose him as a murderer so it was interesting how the episode went in a different direction. I liked the guy with the cat as well, one of those memorable minor characters, and Logan mentioning that they gave the cat some tuna fish or something at the station was funny.
  7. I’ve really been enjoying watching this show on Charge again - just saw a great episode, One and Only from season 5, this is a strong example of one of the great twisted cases they had - about a missing family court judge - they discover the judge had taken out evidence of a DVD in a rape case because the female accomplice of the 2 rapist scumbags was his old high school girlfriend and the judge felt guilty for not running away with her from their rough families when they were teens, and he wanted to help her, it turned out the girl was manipulating him to get out of trouble and they track down the judge in Connecticut where he has killed the girl after realizing she used him and ruined his life - great complex case where I could never tell where it was going - it was tragic that the judge ruined everything he had because of the guilt he felt over his old girlfriend becoming a criminal, he made a huge mistake in tampering with evidence and he realized that and wanted the girl to turn herself in and when she wouldn’t and was fleeing the country instead he killed her, realizing he ruined his life over someone who didn’t even care about him and didn’t care about doing the right thing. A twisted case where an upstanding person went off the rails because of guilt over not being able to help his girlfriend in the past. I loved how this show had cases like this where you could never tell where it was going and whether someone was good or bad - in the end the judge was sort of sympathetic in that he cared and wanted to do the right thing but he made huge mistakes and wound up becoming a killer. Great episode.
  8. Great news that Bruno is a regular - he’s the best thing about modern day SVU and he adds a real spark to his scenes that the show frequently lacks. Bruno is about the only thing almost all SVU viewers agree on it seems - he’s very well liked. Also curious about the new female detective, and I wonder what will happy with Curry now? And will Velasco stick around - he has some potential but they don’t know how to use him well. Anyway I’m glad that Rollins isn’t going to be a regular again - I know some of the more vocal portions of the fanbase want her back but I’ve never liked her. SVU could be good again if Mariska’s ego wasn’t in the way, but Mariska’s demand to be front and center all of the time and to have Benson portrayed as a superhero/holy figure who can do no wrong has made the show a joke much of the time, and I don’t even think Mariska is aware of this.
  9. Hate is a chilling episode, with the young neo Nazi scumbags and their smug bastard leader. It’s a good case with a good investigation, and I enjoyed seeing LaMotte go undercover at the Nazi gathering - it was nice to see a minor character like LaMotte get a feature role. I also liked how they realized one of the perp’s mom was afraid of him and got her to tell the truth, her son was a scary dude. The perps hate was scary, and I appreciated how they didn’t censor the hateful language used by the perps - it showed the depths of their ugly hate and made the episode more effective. The dad who wasn’t having his son spew the Nazi garbage was great, saying his father took a bullet in WWII and he wouldn’t stand for his son being a Nazi. Jack’s cross of the leader was great, especially when the leader said he wanted to eliminate racial hatred and Jack replied “how by eliminating the other races?!” that was a great retort, Adam’s “what’s the matter, they run out of people to hate” line about the Nazis killing the girl was good as well. It’s a strong episode and one of L&O’s most chilling ones. Ramparts is good as well - unusual case in that it was a cold case from 30 years ago. The detectives did a good job cracking the case. I didn’t feel much sympathy for the perp - he killed a kid he didn’t even know just because he was angry at him for being a loud protestor, he only seemed sorry that it turned out the victim was an undercover cop, I don’t even think he would’ve felt remorse otherwise. I thought Jack was right to want to get the police files, and I didn’t care for Abbie here, she came off as authoritarian. Adam seemed to side with Jack. Stephanie was a sociopath and black widow type serial killer, she was only sorry she got caught, I didn’t buy her sudden remorse act after her conviction, she lied constantly and had killed 4 people, she was evil. It’s a good episode and I liked the detective work as well with how they quickly figured out Stephanie did it.
  10. Well there it is. I hope she does a good job - L&O has done a good job of casting with the revival IMO - I really like Mehcad Brooks and Reid Scott as the detectives, so hopefully this will continue a good trend of casting for the police characters. I’ll still miss Dixon, she was a good character.
  11. Agreed, I’m surprised we haven’t heard either, I don’t know if the Mothership has started filming yet or not, I know SVU started this week. I hope we find out soon. Regardless I’ll miss Kate Dixon - she was a good squad leader who added to the show. Really wish it was Maroun who was exiting instead - it’s not a coincidence that most of the episodes that had the legal scenes I enjoyed the most were episodes with minimal Maroun.
  12. SVU has started filming for season 26 this week. I see that both Bruno and Curry are back - I’m very glad Bruno is returning, he’s one of the only good things about modern day SVU and they should bump him up to opening credits. Still not sure if I’ll watch regularly this season as last season was painful at times with the St O worship, I guess I’ll tune in to start the season at least to see if it’s any good.
  13. Yeah that’s the one - Lennie’s “I’m not old enough to be in here” line when they were in the club was particularly great.
  14. Season 5 has such a great cast and a lot of interesting episodes Competence is a great feature for Van Buren, a different type of episode than the norm but very good. It’s really interesting how it was Mike who went to bat for Anita the strongest, Lennie had a few doubts, and it was Mike who pushed for them to look into the matter themselves. I understood everyone’s point of view, those who knew Van Buren knew she was a good cop and a good person, but Adam and Jack were right that they needed to put the case before the grand jury as a delay would make it look like a cover up or preferential treatment. It was nice to see Anita take center stage, she was such an awesome character, and it was interesting seeing her sons. I liked the final scene between Jack and Anita. Precious is one of L&O’s most disturbing episodes, with the loony woman killing her kids, what the fuck was wrong with the husband that he continued to have kids with his psycho wife knowing that she killed them. Even after she was arrested he got her pregnant again! He was just as morally bankrupt and insane as his wife, I have no idea what his problem was, but he was a really pathetic loser. Fuck him and fuck his crazy murderous wife. Virtue is one of my favorites of season 5 - as I’ve said before I think this is when Jack really came into his own as the lead prosecutor, this was an awesome episode for Jack, it was a very creative way to proceed by charging Talbert with larceny for forcing women to have sex or else he would ruin their career. Talbert was a smug scumbag predator and it was satisfying to see him get nailed, and Jack’s closing was awesome, one of his most memorable, I loved how he addressed the jury - “give me the keys to your house, or I’ll charge you with murder: I’m the DA, I can do it” etc, very effective way to show how Talbert abused his power and committed larceny. Great legal stuff all around. Good investigation as well with how they realized Talbert raped the woman who died in the crash and then delved into his history of misconduct.
  15. Season 4 was on BBC America this week Born Bad is a pretty good episode, one of L&O’s sadder cases, given that it was one kid brutally killing another over an argument, it was a senseless murder. It was an interesting twist that the defendant decided to plead guilty and basically give up on his life because he believed his defense’s attorney’s stuff about him being genetically wired to kill. Adam was right that they had to take the plea, he belonged in prison and it wasn’t their job to make the perp feel better or rehabilitate him, but I got that Ben felt guilty that he thought he had driven the kid to give up. The ending was memorable when the perp asked why bother saving his life. It was a tragic case. The detective stuff was good, and I liked how Lennie and Mike figured out the perp and his friend lied. The Pursuit of Happiness is decent, it was pretty obvious from the start that the wife would be involved in the murder but it’s a pretty good case. I liked the deductions at the crime scene by the detectives. The victim was a douche but he didn’t deserve to be shot. The stuff about cross racial identifications that the defense attorney brought up was interesting, and I liked seeing Judge Quinn blatantly call out the defense attorney for his stunts. Adam’s grumbling about the case was funny “quick shut the door, someone might walk in with a case we can win”.
  16. The new seasons of the FBI shows will premiere Tuesday October 15, they just announced that. I look forward to them!
  17. Yeah it’s an awesome episode, it had a lot of players involved but it flowed very well unlike some other season 1 episodes, everything moved smoothly from start to finish and it was a very compelling case. I liked how they got to the bottom of the case and discovered the connection between the first victim and the IRA guy, and the legal stuff was good as well, Ben’s prosecution was great and I liked his compassion with the woman who lost her family and his cross of the perp. Yes both defense attorneys were slimy and one was a blatant bigot. The ending of Adam holding a press conference with all of the people involved was a great way to wrap up the story. The Troubles and Sonata For Solo Organ would definitely be in my top 5 for season 1, Mushrooms is the other that would definitely be in it. Not sure what other two episodes would round out my top 5 of the season.
  18. The Troubles is an interesting case, unique opening with the prisoner being found dead in the van after the transfer. Good investigative work and I liked how they linked the victim to the IRA and got to the bottom of it - It’s interesting how Logan was so off about the perp, he was certain it wasn’t the IRA guy and that the Cuban drug dealer did it, I don’t know if Logan was blinded by his sympathy for the guy’s cause because of their shared heritage or what, but it was the only time Logan was off base on a case - Greevey was spot on about O’Connell being the perp. Strong legal stuff as well - Ben’s prosecution was good, and the testimony of the woman whose family was killed in the bombing was compelling - Ben’s “there’s your human error” line was great. I liked Adam calling the guy from the British consulate to get more background on the case. And the ending with Adam holding a press conference with all of the players in the case was a strong ending. The defense lawyer was a racist asshole, basically saying the victim’s murder shouldn’t matter because he was an “Arab dope peddler”, he seemed like a fanatic just like his client. It’s a great episode, arguably my favorite of season 1 - I would say my favorite from season 1 is either The Troubles or Mushrooms.
  19. Season 24 of L&O will premiere on Thursday October 3, in the usual 8:00 time slot, they announced that today.
  20. They have had too many cases involving the rich and famous, particularly last season.
  21. L&O should never have been cancelled after season 20 that’s for sure. Van Buren was leaving the show regardless after season 20, so that would’ve been a loss for the show, but they definitely could’ve survived it. The main issue with the revival isn’t the characters IMO, although Price and Maroun can be bland and I’m not a fan of Maroun in particular, it’s the writing for the legal scenes - all too often they throw in a twist that makes the DAs look unprepared/sloppy, or they are very predictable with having them lose a motion on very shaky grounds, or just something about the legal writing doesn’t click. That’s the main issue with the revival IMO - the characters are fine overall, I really like the Shaw/Riley detective pairing, Dixon was a good squad leader and while Price/Maroun lack energy much of the time I don’t hate them, although Maroun can annoy me often. But yeah the show was really clicking in season 20 - agreed that Lupo/Bernard were a very strong pairing and I love Connie, plus McCoy was younger and would’ve been in more scenes if the show had stayed on the air then, still I’m glad he came back for the revival to get it going. I really don’t like Cutter most of the time, he was an arrogant jackass. But yeah the writing was strong in season 20 and the show never should’ve been taken off the air, the writing just hasn’t been as good on the revival particularly with the legal stuff although the detective stuff is quite good now. But yeah shame on NBC for cancelling it after season 20 for the LA spinoff which was a disaster.
  22. I would say it took L&O about half a season to get its formula down and run smoothly - in the first episodes the show didn’t flow as smoothly and sometimes the detectives would jump from one lead to the next without explanation and it would take the viewer a minute to catch up, and sometimes in court witnesses would testify out of order (this was especially notable in Prescription for Death, where it seemed like the DAs and defense were alternating calling witnesses) and there was quite a bit of noise from the gallery in a few of the early episodes, something which the judges would quickly shut down as the show went along. The episodes flowed better as season 1 went along and they got things figured out fairly quickly. I really like season 1 despite its flaws, I love Stone and Robinette. I’m not a Greevey fan, he was especially awful in both Prisoner of Love and Life Choice.
  23. Yeah and now that you mention it it was really just Jack’s and Sam’s personal lives that got on my nerves, the others stories were generally fine and didn’t detract from the show but the stuff about Jack’s personal issues and Sam’s love life got old. But yeah it’s an awesome show - I love the cases and the twists they took, you could never tell which direction an episode was going in or if they would find the missing person alive or not.
  24. It’s great to see season 1 back on again on Sundance - I enjoy these early episodes, even if the flow was a bit uneven in the earliest episodes, and I’m not a Max Greevey fan. Indifference was on, that’s a chilling episode, Jacob Lowenstein was such a creepy evil piece of garbage, and his wife was a loony abuser as well. They were both incredibly fucked up trash. I loved Ben’s rage at them, this was one of the only times we saw Ben visibly enraged - he was usually very stoic and much less passionate than Jack was. Prisoner of Love is a good episode as well - I love Cragen’s response when Greevey wanted off the case - Greevey was just insufferable here. Another rather creepy case with the relationship between the arts commissioner and the socialite, that was a creepy relationship with the dude basically being her slave - the socialite was a psycho. Season 1 had a lot of fascinating cases. It took a bit of time for them to get the flow of the episodes figured out, but it was a good season.
  25. I’m glad that this show is airing on Charge for 3 hours each weekday - it had been a long time since I had seen this show before I found it on Charge. It was a great show, I liked the format and cases a lot and how you never seemed to know what direction the case was going in and you didn’t know if the missing person was alive or dead until the end or what led to their vanishing. I liked how we got flashbacks into the missing peoples lives - it allowed the viewers to connect with the characters and be more interested in their fate. A lot of interesting stories. I happened to like all of the main characters as well, even though some of the personal subplots could annoy me - Jack’s marital problems and issues with his kids got old. But it was a strong show and I’m glad it’s being shown on a channel I get, it’s been enjoyable to watch it again.
