Dear Maggie: Your three adult children may or may not visit. But it’s at least 90% that they will not visit at the same time. If I were her adult child I would visit . . . infrequently.

Agree that her parents didn’t seem thrilled at her moving to Maratea . And I was surprised they didn’t offer their summer home. She looked older than 40. Her mother looked fantastic! As noted above by @Chit Chat she is in for a lot of work/money with the damp problem. And the lack of central heating.

I loved this couple and found them both brave and generous to adopt three children out of foster care. I hope their family flourishes.

Auckland! My university sent me there for a conference and then I took the bus around the coast to Ninety Mile beach where I stayed for a few days. I’ve lived in/visited a LOT of beautiful places but that coast—ocean/tropical vegetation/mountains—is unforgettable. I was ready to immigrate after 24 hours but was too old (51). But I did keep something of the vitality of New Zealand in my life and work.

I don’t really care who wins this season, having long ago gotten used to bitter, bitter disappointment. But I love Carolyn. She’s so authentic and full of life and her instincts are spot on. I find her both entertaining and inspirational. I’m a swimmer and feel at home in the water and would have no trouble with this challenge. I suspect most swimmers would find it manageable.

NYC to Auckland. Enjoyed seeing New Zealand. Went to a conference in Auckland in 2000 and spent a week traveling around and enjoying Ninety Mile beach. Wanted to immigrate but was already too old. Anyway, residing as always in the shallow end of the pool I must say I HATE the husband’s mustache. (Plus, he’s a total tool.)
