Sorry Redhead Zombie. I was under the impression it was RHONY-not the Luann special.  Apparently Bravo is going to be running specials about various RH.  I will say the 10 minutes was interesting.  The woman Honey Chile, who was her friend and mentor, was the inspiration for Holly Golightly and the role of Honey Ryder in Dr. No,  played Ursula Andress  (Harry Hamlin's baby mama).  The story Luann tells of their relationship gives some insight why she is so protective of her relationship and women butting in them.

Luann had fabulous hair when she was an Italian TV star.  Genetics.  It is kind of nice getting a little biography instead of gossip about these women's past lives.  I don't know if it will work for all RH, but Luann had an interesting time in her twenties.

Maybe not this part, so much.

"She may not have been the actual prototype of Truman Capote's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" heroine, Holly Golightly, as some said she was rumored to be. If she was not, it was probably because Mr. Capote was only 16 years old in 1941 when Miss Wilder was charging New York night life with her special brand of electricity and decadent antics!"

Yes, I never really got the whole Dorinda love.  They seem to walk on eggshells for her.  She gets a pass on behavior that would be earth shaking and would demand never-ending apologies if Sonja or LuAnn did the same thing.  I find Dorinda to be a classless, clueless, drunk and I don't find her intelligent or interesting, but I guess to each his/her own.  Just think about it ---- if Tom acted the way John did toward Bethenny, there would be hell to pay!!

I'll co-sign that. She should be grateful they give her such a kind edit ... imagine what they could have done with that drunken monologue. Which she shrugs off in her blog as "Well they were an hour late, so what's a girl to do while waiting? Drink martini's (and be drunk and boorish) of course."

I guess it all depends on what you want to be around. Would you rather have to babysit your friend (Sonja) or be afraid your friend is going to choke you out if you say the wrong thing (Dorinda)

Bahahahahaha.... IK, R? Back that shit up!

Of course Luann knew.  That's just silly.  Ha.

Yeah, they can play around with sound very easily.

That's the thing, and it's the reason why I like this cast so very much.  There is REAL stuff going on here, things have happened that impacted their REAL lives.  Sonja shilling for the Shyster and trying to involve Bethenny's REAL business and get her down into the Shyster's mud so he could get free publicity.  Luann going after Carole's REAL relationship and saying vile things.

If it was made up shit I'd be as bored as I was with BH.  It's not.  REAL things happened and in REAL life there are consequences.  People watching may have different opinions on who is right and who is wrong, but at least it's not BS.  I love that so much.

    This.  100 times this.

Yeah, I agree.  They don't all have to film at every event, and really, that almost never happens anyway.  BFD.  That isn't anyone "freezing someone out" and even if it was, so what?  That's REAL.  Act like an asshole?  I don't want to engage with you.

Yes.  Bethenny had no choice about Sonja really.  If she films with her she will give the Shyster cheater brand press.  That will never happen.  Too bad, so sad.  Hope it was worth it to you Sonja.  Luann thinks she can still film with Carole after all the vile things she said?  Well, she's living in UNreality, and Carole's not playing that game.

So Luann can be a complete asshole in REAL and it's Carole that should lose her job?  What?  It's not part of her contract to film with Luann.  It's not part of Bethenny's to give Sonja and the Shyster publicity either.

    --

BTW, I'm really bothered by the "most people feel this way so you should too" that sometimes happens on message boards.  Can we all please simply speak for ourselves without using the "well all my friends think" argument to prove someone is wrong for having a different opinion?  That's where things get personal and messy.

What I love about this cast is it's easy to see why people would have different opinions, it's not black and white, there is tons of grey, because they aren't just filming, they do have real life experiences with one another, and we are seeing the complicated interrelations of women with pasts and futures that don't slide easily into box A or box B.  They are all gloriously messy, just as we all are.  It's why it's working for me this season, and honestly, it's such a gift after the "all fake all the time" BH series.  The REAL exists in this NY cast, and they are all earning every penny.

Well damn. I can't even remember anymore why I disagreed with all your posts in the past, because clearly you have a keen and discerning mind and considered opinions (that are totally in line with my own.) You must hate Kyle or Kenya, or love Brandi. It had to be something heinous. :)

Sorry if it's already been addressed, as I'm only on page 3 of the forum, but is Carol's pronunciation of kitten really odd?  Having been born and raised in New England myself (now a West Coaster), it seems correct to me to say ki'en, bi'en, Manhat'en, etc.. Actually, almost all words with two Ts together, the T's are kinda silent.  I don't even think non Northeasterners pronounce the 2 Ts.  I'll have to pay closer attention.  In any case, it's not a matter of Carole not being able to annunciate, as implied, it's most likely a regional thing.

A DWI isn't defining and shouldn't mean Sonja can't sell liquor. She isn't calling it DWI girl. Plenty of people drink and don't drive, tipsy girl should be more a warning to not drive, IMO. In any case, I'm not into throwing mistakes in people's faces and then telling them they can't do stuff because of their past mistakes. Sonja can do whatever she wants. I think the fact she may have a drinking problem is more concerning than a past DWI in terms of endorsing liquor. But that is her own issue. I really don't care when I buy wine the backstory of the people in the company. I just care if it's a good value and tastes good.

You're defending Sonja when my issue was with the stupidity and shortsightedness of the business owners.

Yes Sonja can do whatever she wants. Except when she can't. Which is why she was arrested. She's did something idiotic, which was to drink alcohol to excess, and then got her dumb, selfish ass behind the wheels of a car. And then drove on a public road. And that's just the time she was caught. I haven't heard a good argument yet as to why that's okay. So yeah I'll throw that particular mistake in her face all day every day and twice on Sundays.

But since this was and is about the business owners decision ... lots of people do care about the backstories, and when you want to capture the biggest market, you would be wise to avoid someone with such a troublesome past with your product. Like, maybe don't have Michael Vicks endorse your chew toys.

  4. Can I just ask ... forget about Bethenny's feelings about the name... did NONE of these business tycoons give any thought to having an effing representative with a DWI on her record as the face of their liquor? "TipsyGirl ... first you drink, then you drive drunk?" GTFOH.

Anytime I feel slightly bad for Sonja I remember that, and then IDGAF anymore.

I thought the same thing - how insensitive, but now I think it may have been the infamous editing monkeys at work.  The scene seemed choppy to me to begin with.

Blogs are still not up, but I found this

The Real Housewives of NY Bus Tour

    Seriously? $49.00?

    O'rlly??

    • See the restaurant where Bethenny's "Get off my jock" was coined (What's it called, 1980?)
    • Pass by Le Cirque, home of the "leg toss heard around the world"
    • Check out the shop where Bethenny invited the girls to let loose and decorate some cupcakes
    • See the hotel where Ramona renewed her vows
    • Drive past the Watch What Happens Live studios
    • Shop at Kelly’s favorite place to buy jewelry
    • Visit the Russian Tea Room where the first season reunion show was filmed

This has to be the weakest tour with the most bullshit reasons to drive by something ever. And I say this as a person who took the TMZ Hollywood tour past the spot where the sign hit Kanye in the head.

The whole slut shaming thing is such a sensitive topic now because the bottom line is that someone's sex life is only the business of the people they're sleeping with. End of story. When you make it a point of argument to refer to someone's sexual preferences or practices as a dig, it's unneeded and says a lot more about the person slinging the mud than the person receiving it. As I said, every single one of them is hypocritical and that's understood but there's nothing more annoying than seeing one hypocrite cry hypocrisy to another hypocrite. Neither Bethenny or Carole think they're a hypocrite despite having episodes where all of their behaviour is of them engaging in hypocritical behaviour. Annoying.

Okay - then that would equally apply to Luann's commentary on Bethenny needing to get laid or Carole sleeping with a child. Because if a full and boisterous sex life is off limits, age of partners (if legal) and a dry spell (if it is one) should be off limits also, under the "not your sex life/not your business" code. Yet there isn't an equal outcry when Ramona is called frigid or says Bethenny needs to get laid, so ... yeah.

And I see you do call them all hypocrites, but not sure if it's because of that reason. (Lord knows there are so many to choose from!)

Telling Luann that she sleeps with a lot of people is stating the facts. That is like saying her hair is short, her voice is deep. Telling her that she fucks everyone is an extreme fabrication meant to shame her. Calling her a whore is definitely shaming. What's worse is that after all of the comments about Luann sleeping around and being a slut, Carole and Bethenny are seen talking about sleeping with a lot of people and about one night stands as if it's some important passage in life. They've obviously created a line in the sand of what constitutes slutty and they've conveniently drawn that line to ensure that they and Luann are standing on opposite sides of it.

But I do agree that they all have horrible elements to their personality so it's hard to feel bad for any of them for too long, if at all. I sometimes feel like a flip flopper because I can't be consistent with saying I like anyone. I agree or disagree based on the situation. They're all far too inconsistent for me to use the term 'like'.

There was a LOT of screaming, so I missed the whore part. She could have done without that. And yes you fuck everyone could either be an exaggeration, or bad grammar (i.e., you'll fuck anyone.)  But mostly I can't get all up in arms about it. She went in mercilessly on Carole on social media for a good while before Carole ever even answered back. IMO "slut" or "whore" isn't worse than "pedophile" or any other insults Luann has used. You either is or you ain't, and who cares anyway? Besides, Luann is a stone bitch when she wants to be. She can act all pearl-clutchy and catch the "well I nevah!" vapors now, but somewhere in Australia, Alex and Simon are giggling their asses off.

  9. This show is officially balls-to-the-wall batshit and I LOVE IT. This is even more fun than Scary Island, because all these bitches can stand for themselves and not be spirited away when it gets too real because "they're fragile."

I could watch them battle it out over and over and eat popcorn doing it, because

    • nobody is getting physically attacked
    • they are all fairly equally heinous and so I don't care who gets verbally shanked, or how, and
    • all their dancing monkey asses could stop anytime they wanted to (see: Heather) but they don't want to. So no reason for me to worry more about them than they do themselves. Dance, monkeys, dance!

UO: "You fuck everyone" = slut shaming? I see the naming ... not so much the shaming. Can't a spade be called a spade anymore? If it's all good then it shouldn't be any different than "you're tall." "your hair is red." "you fuck everyone you date." Just the facts, ma'ams. I mean, sure, that whole "movement" annoys the shit out of me, but I'm uncool enough to believe it's kinda nasty to be all run up and through in the name of "sexual agency." If I were all vag-empowered and shit though, I would *think* I wouldn't care about someone commenting on it.

*Belated props to whoever called it out in last week's thread; I wanted to say something then but the dead horse-ification of Luann's poor maligned virtue drove me away.

Cydney somehow credited Michelle with having a kind and generous heart and giving her a chance to make fire.  Yet Michelle admitted she didn't have any idea there would be a tie!  In fact, Cydney should remember that Michelle told Cydney she didn't need to practice.  Translation Cydney - she was not giving you a chance because she was completely out of touch with that vote.

I've seen a number of variations on the idea that Michelle didn't give Cydney a chance and/or Cydney shouldn't have rewarded her with her vote. While Michelle may not have been aware it would be a tie from the first vote (clearly), she absolutely knew and could have changed her vote for the re-vote. But she didn't. Thus, the idea that Michelle didn't give Cydney a chance has no basis in fact. She gave her a chance by not changing her vote, and allowing Cydney to fight for herself by making fire.

If I'm Cydney and Michelle is in the final? That right there might be worth giving her my vote.

  11. My thinking is, one doesn't need to control THE game to be a deserving winner, they just need to control THEIR game. Michelle did that. She kept herself off the chopping block, she made strategic alliances, she cut them when necessary, won some key immunities and had a bit of luck, too. If some people were bitter on the jury, well that's part of the game too - vote people off in a way that they don't hate or resent you in the end. I really, REALLY don't think this was about "weepy cute girl vs unapologetic smart girl."  That completely discredits Michelle sitting at the final by her own hand, not dragged along as a goat. Like TAR, you don't have to come in first in every leg to win, just the one that counts.

There's no "right" way to win Survivor. Like I always says, sometimes it's a Meryl Streep Oscar season, sometimes it's a Whoopie Goldberg Oscar season. Whattayagonnado.

  12. Wow, what a diss. Since when don't you even SPEAK to the person in the Final Four Jeff, if only to ask your usual "how does it feel to come so close/who did you vote for/who would have voted for (X) had s/he been up here?" Especially when you had a tie for the first time in ages.

Nope, gotta get in your hot stud time, and hot chick time, and wacky character time, and old guy time, and bully time. Hit all the tropes, ignore the players everyone is most invested in because they've been there THE WHOLE EFFIN' GAME.

Exactly. Aubry is not impressing me with her gameplay the last couple of episodes, and she seems to do a lot of projecting. She claimed Debbie was an emotional not a logical player and that Tai is emotionally needy, but this describes her as much as if not more than them. For the reward, she chooses Cydney because she says Tai feels like she betrayed him (uh, maybe because she actually betrayed him?) and so now she needs to lock down F3 with Cydney and vote Tai out. Then Joe says a few nice things about Cydney during the reward and Aubry immediately panics about what a threat Cydney is and how she needs to lock down Tai for F3 and vote Cyd out.

Thank you for this. Aubrey isn't playing like a boss, she's playing emotionally and scared. It's kept her in, no doubt, but IMO her gameplay isn't necessarily better than Tai's or Michelle's or Cydney's. Because they're all still in it, and they're all still making moves in their own ways, not just being dragged along like Joe was.

Given the situation spelt out, that he could end up with kidney problems for life - aside from the fact that the tough old guy was pretty well begging for pain relief - that her mean and/or strategic silence could in a way have killed him, she would have to have a heart of utter stone to not weep at the sadness of that medivac.

I'm surprised people (in general) are surprised Cydney kept her trap shut in the situation. She's the woman who kept her trap shut while those tattooed uggs verbally abused Alecia fairly well non-stop the first X episodes.

I have enjoyed her turning on the thugs and some of her wry observations in talking heads, but to my mind she's not a very pleasant person.

Now what now?? Without any proof at all that she didn't lightly chide "be careful with all that beef Mr. Joe, you could end up with a stomachache" ... Cydney is now a stone cold wannabe killer? If merely not speaking up means you're responsible, then the producers of this segment are really going to hang. I mean, it WAS their mean and strategic serving of meat to an old man who couldn't be expected to be responsible for himself that set in motion the plot to kill old Joe.

Still perplexed that Aubrey hasn't drawn any fire for not being responsible for her second vote's overindulgence. Even though she was there too. And also had to know that much meat to a non-regular meat eater who hadn't eaten in days wouldn't end well. Interesting that she'd want to kill Joe off too by not warning him.

I may be forgetting some of the episodes, but I just can't remember a single one where ANYONE stood up for someone against bad or bullying treatment. And that includes Joe's rude verbally abusive treatment.

Honestly, I think Cydney and Michele, both, have done very little. Cyd's laying low does not equate strong game play to me. Aubry and Tai have really been playing hard the whole time. Cyd and Michele are not as useless as Joe was. They have done some and aren't really goats but Aubry and Tai have really been going hard. Aubry was on the outs early on and should have been sent home many times but she worked it and worked it to stay in the game. Back when Neil got evacuated, she was looking like a lost cause (and was crushed that Neil didn't slip her his idol). I thought she was getting the boot then. Cyd and Michele haven't been on anyone's radar or short list (until Tai recently with his Michele votes). And Tai was loved by all for a while so not on anyone's radar either until he made a bold move to get Scot the boot.

Aubrey has had the benefit of two votes for a long time. Prior to that she did a lot of crying and scrambling to stay in and was lucky when the merge happened and others were targeted. Effective, but not exactly controlling the game. Cydney flipped on her alliance and rallied the girls to vote together, until Julia played both sides. And then she and Aubrey began to work together to control the rest of the game, Cydney via Michelle, and Aubrey via Tai. And Cydney HAS been on the radar; she was mentioned to be voted off several times by the Bully Brigade but each time they went after someone else. IMO they are playing equally strong games in different ways. Of the three women, Michelle has been the weaker player, but still deserving of a win. Aubrey has also benefited from almost twice the interviews focusing on strategy. In reality, Tai has played a little harder than all three of them.

From what I have read on here, it is a Kim Kardashian, app and people actually pay for virtual clothes?  It has to be geared at children because I cannot imagine anyone over the age of 10 paying a $100.00, to see cartoon Kim on the red carpet in a certain dress.   I can see Portia being enamored by the app due to the fact she actually knows the Kardashians and Jenners.

Sadly, it is not just children. That stupid thing made gazillions out of the gate and it was adults raving about how addictive it was. Mmkay.

    Quote

    why-kim-kardashian-hollywood-is-a-200-million-hit-app Forbes.com

The game’s concept is simple:  With Kim Kardashian as their mentor, users work their way up the rungs of Hollywood to become, ultimately, an A List celebrity.

Emy Sebagh, a 20 year old from Los Angeles, ranks as the number one A-Lister in her group (at the time of publishing.)

“Being an A-list celebrity means you get more appearances, shoots and big opportunities such as being the face of a brand. This also means you get more money, which you can use to buy properties and new outfits that will help you level up, and gain more followers. I currently have over 50 million followers.”

While this may seem an unappealing, even objectionable endeavor to those who have grown wary of a culture obsessed with the fast pursuit of fame, these young players say they ‘get’ the game’s humor and – something beloved of their age-group: the irony.

Says Ali, “Kim Kardashian has taken every negative connotation that has ever been made about her and incorporated it into this game. Half the fun is waiting for the little inside jokes like ‘Dating another celebrity will make you more famous.’ And it’s actually quite funny when you come across a character you’re having a faux Twitter war with, or a D-Lister trying to bad mouth you, you think to yourself: Is Kim referring to who I think she is?”

Maybe Cydney saw how happy Joe was about the meat -- he insisted to Jeff that he had to try it because it was steak? -- and didn't want to tell a 72 year bossy guy what to do?

If an adult non-meat eater decides to gorge himself on steak in the last week of the game -is it anyone's problem besides his own? I'm sure if I were in Cydney's shoes I would have been eye-rolling and keeping my trap shut as she did.  And I don't think it's production's fault either, or rewards would be nothing but more mangoes and a few fresh fish bits, with a side of rice.  I'll bet there's lots of "number twos" (as my little nephew calls them) going on out there after they get pizza, wings, burgers or anything else.  The fact that they affected a 72yo with prostate problems differently than most is just one of those things called bad luck.

Exactly. I'm not sure how this suddenly became Cydney's fault. She said she knew from personal experience that much meat would be a bad thing - i.e., he would have some intestinal issues for a bit, not that it would kick start prostate issues and put him out of the game. JOE should have known that much meat wouldn't be good for him. He probably did, he likely thought he'd just be uncomfortable for a while but it was worth it at the time. C'mon. Year after year people watch people drink and gorge, nobody says "hey man, you might not want to do that." They're all starving! Nobody is giving a damn, it's let hungry people eat what the hell they want to.

Why isn't it Aubrey's fault for not advising him not to doit? He's her sidekick and she's the Brain. Cydney's just the Brawn.

On another note, I too dig her respectful ways with Miss Debbie and Mr. Joe.

I was sitting here screaming, Let that man GO! Eff all that yammer, can't you see he doesn't give a damn about a game, all he wants is a jump start, a bathroom, and a plunger?

I'm not finding this season boring at all, I find myself incredibly into it, like watch live each week instead of 2-3 days later. It's unpredictable (for the first time in years) in the best way, and I like it!

Oh well Aubrey, too bad. There goes your  puppet. No disrespect meant, Mr. Joe.
