  1. I just wanted to say that I haven't been around much since Wednesday's episode because I've seen a lot of bitterness on this board, not just confined in the bitterness thread but across all the threads and it's been very disheartening. So I wanted to say good luck to everyone and I'll check back in after things improve and hope that people find their happy again. This is a great board and you all have some great thoughts, but I'm not here to circle the drain about how terrible Arrow has become.
  2. I'm pretty glad they pushed the reunion, to be honest. I would rather they take the time with this even if it means some fans are left feeling unsure. I felt the resolution in s3 was too rushed and I didn't want to see that happen again (nor did I want a reunion over the summer where we wouldn't see it). Then again, I'm an anomaly... an Olicity shipper who doesn't really mind Felicity's boyfriend being a thing and won't mind if/when Oliver dates/kisses/sleeps with someone. I understand that's not exactly common amongst Olicity fans. I don't deny there is wiggle room, I would just wonder if they want to use it to change their original plan. I think the original plan all along is to lay little Olicity nuggets along the road to reunion later in the season. Of course I don't know that for a fact, but everything I've heard till now leads me to believe it's the case.
  3. I can agree with this. I meant major story beats aren't usually changed, but other things are added in. Though I do believe the plan all along was to show the flashforward in 4x10. They knew they "played out" Felicity being in the grave by almost having her die at the end of 4x09 and she was an easy elimination. I do believe Taiana's status as flashback love-interest was severely cut back due to fan reaction in season 4, so there IS that. But I also happen to think they weren't wild about the flashback love interest storyline to begin with and it was only network pressure that caused them to include it in the first place. I think for certain story points they WANT to push through on, there's not much that can dissuade them from doing it, especially if it's already written and filmed. I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my post.
  4. I think this is where I've failed to make my point clearly. I apologize. I'm not saying that fan reactions aren't taken into consideration. I'm saying that I don't think those reactions have a great impact on episodes already filmed (and perhaps those already written). And I think this because of what I've heard these very writers say about their process in writing this show. As for the ratings, that's a whole 'nother can of worms and I don't think it's its a terrible a situation as some are making it out to be.
  5. I doubt they would. They haven't in the past. They've told us countless times that fan reactions during the season/filming isn't a large part of their story decision making process. I think the greatest chance of seeing any change would be in 5b at this point, but I also do think that they have a plan for the season and they intend to stick to it. Basically, if their plan was to have them try to move on with others and then come back together towards the end of the season, I don't see them changing that now, even if a certain segment of fans are upset with how it's done.
  6. No. 5x05 was filmed towards the end of August.
  7. I gotta disagree here. I felt 3x16 especially was a GREAT episode for Oliver and Felicity. Plus 3x18 gave us Mama Smoak telling Felicity she knew she was in love with Oliver and Felicity ditching out on Ray's ILU in favor of getting him jello... Also I really love 3x19 too. She nearly told him she loved him, right there in the street outside Palmer Tech. My heart! So I gotta agree, that sometimes scenes where they're with other people CAN be great. But you have to be open to them being great, at the same time.
  8. Where are these clips? I just heard about them.
  9. I do remember that! You can't really trust them when they say they don't know. I never believed them when they said they didn't know who was dying last season. If I was able to figure out it was LL so early on, safe bet they knew too.
  10. Context is key. ;) And of course Stephen knows. Remember when he said he didn't know if Olicity would get together in season 3 and then after the finale told us he'd known about the drive into the sunset for a whole year? Lying liar who lies. ;) He just wants to keep us guessing. Greg's answer actually made me feel a lot better about a lot of things.
  11. I actually super agree with this. They could have written to KC's strengths as an actress but they seemed to write away from those strengths. It was doomed from the start, and then they brought in CL in s2 and fans embraced her more... At some point you have to wonder if they ever really wanted KC as LL to succeed on that show at all.
  12. I think that's where it comes down to personal preference. Personally, I don't think the road is or has been or will be garbage. DOesn't mean I don't think missteps have been made, but when I sit down and consider the bad and the good, the good far outweighs the bad and I'm overall satisfied with the journey, as it were. Because I agree, I don't think endgame means a lot if you don't enjoy the journey. But I would rather see Arrow fumble through this journey, missteps and all, than, say, ignore Olicity for two more seasons and hurriedly reunite them at the end of the last season (pulling a HIMYM, in a way). I do understand not everyone shares this opinion. I just see a lot of fans who are upset saying all Olicity fans hate this when... not entirely true. I am an Olicity fan and while I acknowledge the missteps, I enjoy the journey overall. At least so far. And yes, I'm allowing for them dating other people in that because I don't feel that particularly ruins anything. At least not for me. Then again, I didn't detest the BMD as much as some did. Was it sloppy? Hell yes. But I could understand it. Compare that to Oliver marrying Nyssa at the end of season 3. I still don't understand why they had to do that. Even just thinking about it gets me all offended all over again. ;)
  13. which just means that they don't intend to drop Olicity. They want us to worry they will, clearly, but it's plain as day to anyone scratching the surface that there will be a reunion at some point. I don't much care when, personally. I'm okay with waiting so long as I still have hope.
  14. More than that, the show had Felicity tell people she didn't want to talk about it. How handy for them, for the character herself to say it wasn't something to talk about. That was in 4x16. Talk about frustrating. We would have liked to see it be discussed, the realities of this stupid situation be brought to light, rip it off like a bandaid so we can HEAL from it, but instead the show chose to sweep it under the rug instead. So.. it's whatever. In making Oliver not look like the bad guy, they've sorta make Felicity look like she IS which only makes fans feel more annoyed.
