  1. Yeah, but plenty of people-especially the Dylans of the world repeat all those patterns. Dude was a drunk and then an addict self-medicating his traumas, and he could afford to run off and travel the world instead of getting real therapy (not that past lives woowoo bs).
  2. I rather liked Kelly’s hair and makeup (and overall look). It’s like she relies on being a “cute blonde”, but good makeup and decent hairstyling bump her up to beautiful.
  3. I know! I hate this trope SO much. Wasting my time, clothing/grooming budget, and gas for nothing.
  4. And it’s extra-amusing that the mid to late 90s was the height of all the heroin chic and weird-looking models trend, but spazzy mcflailing wasn’t making it work.
  5. To give the writers some credit-this pivotal moment of Cheryl being into Hollywood clubs, movie stars, and Dylan’s Porsche (totally normal for a teen *cough* any girl) gave us YEARS of Brandon/Dylan competition. Especially when Dylan fixes a problem with money and Brandon is bitter- again, and again, and again. The Class Struggle in Beverly Hills indeed.
  6. Isn’t BH it’s own little town within LA? I could totally see them being very NIMBY about an erotica store because of wealth and property values as opposed to feminism/what about the children?. The closest one in my NYC suburb is in a semi-industrial zone right next to a highway on-ramp, but these days you can get toys in Spencer Gifts at the mall.
  7. The show was very cliche and repetitive with Kelly’s dating choices. John Sears was just the “anti-Dylan” BMoC frat guy at the time. Then back to Dylan, preppy Brandon, “artist” Colin, I guess that Doctor circa Single White Tara, more Brandon, Matt, Dylan, Matt, Dylan. If she was real, I’d think being the child of an alcoholic probably subconsciously drew her to these “deep” troubled dramatic guys, while the fatherly abandonment made her seek out the stable white bread guys. She often went for the wholesome-seeming dudes, but she’d get bored and self-sabotage.
  8. Not to defend Kelly, but Val did not have to stick her nose in Donna’s jewelry situation with the implication that Noah doesn’t love her. I don’t know why the writers went back to “scheming gold-digger Val” after that whole trial. Oof.
  9. I went to my 10th and 20th (Class of ‘95) which were both held at local casual bar/restaurants. The “fashionable people” wore heels and such to the 20th, but it wasn’t a semi-formal event at all, so I’m always amused by TV high school reunions where it’s like a wedding. Maybe it’s a rich school thing? But then why have it at the school instead of a banquet hall?
  10. And even if it had been real, didn’t they just have the “stop fixing things with your money” convo like a week ago? Plus, the inappropriately expensive gift post-rape trial has Kobe Bryant written all over it.
  11. Oooh! Maybe our hosts can get a copy for the literature segment, or does it not matter since he’ll be gone soon? Sidebar- I just remembered Vanessa starred in a Prince video in 1994 (and maybe dated him?) which was a huge deal at the time. Weird that she didn’t make a bigger career leap. https://www.google.com/amp/s/people.com/archive/vanessa-marcil-vol-43-no-18/amp/
  12. Laura Leighton was on, but not as Sydney which I found really confusing by the time I got to watch the episodes.
  13. Nah, the Amy Fishers were Drew Barrymore, Alyssa Milano, and Noelle Parker (Brenda’s shoplifting friend from early season 1)- I could swear the big 3 networks even aired them all against each other on the same night?
  14. See also- Foxworth Hall from Flowers in the Attic.
  15. Speaking of kids, whatever happened to Jackie and Erin at this point in the show? It seems bizarre that Kelly wouldn’t discuss this with her own mother.
  16. Yes, Donna’s wardrobe is really on point since she started the design job. I noted her super short suit skirt in a meeting, but I guess Ally McBeal made that a thing.
  17. This is funny because I had thought Val was the Walsh twins’ cousin up until like five years ago. I had always missed the Val and Brandon makeout episode, and thought they were forced to deal with each other out of family loyalty. Her attachment to the gang makes so much less sense when she’s a family/childhood friend they never even saw/visited for the first 4 seasons.
  18. Out of all the 90s looks here, I’ll admit that I love those pearl station necklaces most of the girls are wearing. I don’t like the look of a solid string of pearls/beads, but those are necklace perfection in my opinion.
  19. I’m just learning that a lone guy tried to kidnap Princess Anne in 1974 as well. Must have been a trend. https://m.ranker.com/list/attempted-kidnapping-of-princess-anne/cleo-egnal?ref=collections_btm&l=2631327&collectionId=2447
  20. I just listened last week, but apparently they’re bringing it to TV. http://deadline.com/2018/04/eric-bana-cast-john-meehan-dirty-john-bravo-true-crime-anthology-series-1202357623/
  21. So glad we’ve moved past that French mani in the last photo.
  22. Whew! Glad things turned out the way they did for Coco.
  23. I watched Dr. Quinn too (grew up without cable), must be why he looks so familiar.
  24. I didn’t get a misogynistic vibe, and I think this is realistic in Donna’s case. Her whole virginity stance was largely due to her Catholic upbringing and parental expectations. Once she got over that (hypocritical) mental block, she was free to explore.
  25. Interesting timing that this episode comes right after the Cosby conviction. It was rape in 1998 on a soap opera, but some people are still questioning and victim-blaming 20 years later...the more things change, the more they stay the same.
