  1. I’m definitely leaning towards this being all an act. He has his own agenda and that little trip he took to his office to “compose himself” was probably to alert his people to go ahead with whatever plans he have/had to take the presidency away from Warner.
  2. Closed captions are my best friend. I don’t watch shows without them and they are a lifesaver. Regarding the episode, one of the show’s best, I thought. The tension was amazing and I was on the edge of my seat until the end.
  3. Well, guess I’ll have to see this at a different date. Best to be safe so as long as I get my money back, can always get a ticket when shows resume. What did you think of the play?
  4. I always forget to post here after seeing a show. I saw Medea two weeks ago which is a modern-day interpretation of the Greek tragedy with Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale (a couple in real-life) and it was an excellent show. Didn't realize my seat was that close to the stage (practically on the stage) and during the show, there were times where I could have reached out my hand and I could have touched the actors. I’m a huge Rose Byrne fan (she has been excellent in everything I’ve seen her in especially Spy and Damages) and she was the reason I went to watch this and she blew me away. Such raw talent and very commanding stage presence. I have forgotten how the story of Medea ends so when THAT happened, I was shook to the core. My show was the last show, but if it wasn’t I would have recommended everyone to go and see this. Up next is The Minutes with Jessie Mueller (I love her) and Arnie Hammer in two weeks. Seeing Jessie back on Broadway and not singing should be interesting.
  5. Also, finally saw To Kill A Mockingbird the last Sunday of 2019 and I think I need to go see it again because my viewing experience was marred by the fact that the guy in front of me leaned forward in his seat the whole time so he was blocking my view of the center stage so I only saw 75% of what was going on onstage. I liked what I heard of the show and the actor playing Dill definitely stole the show. He was fantastic. Up next for me is Medea with Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale next month. I'm a huge fan of Rose so seeing her in person is going to be awesome for me and Bobby is always so great in everything he does. Should be interesting to see this real-life couple interpret this play. I also have tickets for The Minutes for March and Jessie Mueller is the main reason I'm going to see this (pains me that she's not going to be doing any singing here) and Armie Hammer is just the icing on the cake.
  6. Very late reply here as I have been page-catching. I wasn't planning on seeing Alison but her version of SUBTM that was posted somewhere (it might have been Broadway.com) blew me away that I had to go and see her. I have already seen the show multiple times and I think by that time she was my fifth Jenna (after Jessie, Sara, Nicolette, Stephanie) and she was absolutely fantastic. Her version of SUBTM and What Baking Can Do (the two songs that I use as a measure as to how good a Jenna is, vocal-wise) and she blew me away as well. I liked what you wrote about her portrayal about Jenna because, you're right, it definitely had that edge of anger to it which is more overt than with other portrayals. Also agree on what you wrote about Todrick. Absolutely miscast and I thought his personality was overshadowing Ogie (which is hard to do since it's OGIE) and that should never ever happen. I went to stage door after and since it was Colleen and Todrick's last show (I think it might have been Alison's last show, too, I don't remember) it was CHAOS so I didn't even bother. Since that show, I have seen it two more times (Jordin Sparks and Kat McPhee) and I'm proud to say that aside from Betsy Wolfe and Shoshana Bean, I have seen most of the Jennas and as much as I adore Jessie and Sara, Nicolette was, for me, the best Jenna. Last week was the closing show and of course I was there (probably the 15th time I've seen the show) and it was an amazing experience. I've been to the closing shows of Anastasia and Beautiful last year but this one was definitely my favorite. The majority of the audience being repeat visitors helped a lot because they were attuned to the nuances onstage and if anything didn't go as scripted. We all had a laugh at one or two audience members who had never seen the show before and audibly gasped when Jenna said she didn't want to keep the baby. Kat had a few mistakes which she played off masterfully and it was so great to see the audience appreciate each cast member and giving them standing ovations after their respective solos. There were so many memorable moments but I think the most memorable one and my favorite was the extended standing ovation for Stephanie Torns (she would fill in as Jenna in-between the replacements) when she made her appearance as Francine Pomatter. There was not a dry eye in the house. Heck, everyone onstage, including her, were bawling their eyes out. Sara was there at curtain call, of course, along with Diane and the rest of the fantastic creative team. Sara briefly came out at stage door carrying the girl who played Lulu and it was the mos adorable thing. This show (and Sara) turned me into a Broadway fan so I will forever be grateful for that and I also met one of my best friends through this thanks to our love of Sara. Gonna miss this show and this cast and they will always have a special place in my heart.
  7. Just finished the second season and that ending with Fatima and Henry's "It was you" made me go, say what now? But it made me look forward to another season. Is it wrong that the shot at the end with Jenna going to Cleo and then Henry's note in the foreground made me tear up more than the Henry/Cleo scene?
  8. Currently obsessing over this Speechless cover (from Aladdin, originally sung by Naomi Scott) by Siyeon (member of K-pop rock group Dreamcatcher). She sings this effortlessly and every time I watch this video, I get goosebumps. She's someone you would qualify as a natural-born singer. And if anyone is curious about Dreamcatcher, I recommend this.
  9. I highly recommend Miss Sherlock, a brilliant Japanese adaptation wherein Sherlock and Watson are both female characters. Their relationship is as wonderful as the Sherlock/Joan relationship on our beloved Elementary. Watch the trailer here. Thoughts on the finale which I stayed up to watch (I very rarely watch live TV but I felt I had to make an exception and watch the finale in real time): Thank you to the poster who said Joan's kid was named Arthur in honor of ACD. Of course! That was perfect. Definitely bawled my eyes out during the last 15 minutes of the episode and I regret nothing. The Sherlock and Joan relationship was showcased perfectly and THIS is how you write a beautiful relationship between a man and a woman without it turning into a sexual relationship. Elementary is proof that you can make a compelling show and not have the male and female characters be involved. It all comes down to how you write said characters and from the very beginning, this show has excelled in adding in so many layers to this relationship and it has paid off many times over during the show's run. The hug was beautiful and that's when the tears started to flow. I was ready to lose it when we saw the coffin but thank God it was a misdirect. I should have known! I'm happy Joan is cancer-free and has Arthur and now has Sherlock back in her life. The two of them co-parenting Arthur in their own unique way makes me smile. Captain Bell definitely has a nice ring to it. Loved seeing Gregson as well and how he asked Sherlock why he's leaving if the one person he loves the most is in NY. Yeah, I teared up during this part, too. The only thing that I was disappointed with and this has everything to do with getting my hopes up that Moriarty would somehow make an appearance. For all the times they mentioned her name, I really thought she would make a brief appearance. Guess they couldn't get Natalie back at all or maybe her schedule didn't allow her to appear on the show. This is why we should all lower our expectations, kids, because they only lead to disappointment. Thank you to this show for seven absolutely amazing years. It has been a fantastic ride and I'm going to miss the hell out of this show, for sure. I don't think we'll ever get another relationship on TV similar to Joan and Sherlock's relationship. That's the one thing I will surely miss the most.
  10. So we never found out what Sherlock’s tell is when Joan surmised he was lying to her. I wanted to know.
  11. Has anyone seen To Kill A Mockingbird yet? It's my favorite book of all time so I want to see it before it closes (although that might still be a long way off). Tickets are SUPER expensive and you're sure to spend upwards of $200 for one ticket.
  12. Listened to Ed Sheeran’s new collaborations album and the last song on it (with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars) is excellent. The guitars are insane.
  13. I saw Vanessa Carlton on Beautiful two weeks ago. Wasn’t planning on seeing her this early into her run as I wanted her to get settled into the role but didn’t also want to miss Kara Lindsay’s last show before she goes on maternity leave so I decided to buy tickets. I was a bit hesitant when I heard of this casting because Vanessa’s voice doesn’t sound anything like Carole’s and having watched the show, I still feel the same. Vanessa has no acting experience and I thought she did very well especially in the second act. I’ve seen the show five times before and I got ready-eyed at her saying she needs and wants more. The singing was okay and I felt like she was straining her voice a little to sound like Carole but didn’t quite pull it off. I was nervous about Natural Woman but she sounded lovely. Im a huge Vanessa fan so it was awesome to see her onstage and enjoying herself. Too bad it was a two-show day so didn’t end up meeting her after the show. Did get to meet Kara and wish her all the luck on her pregnancy. She is stunning in person.
  14. This is exactly how I feel. Season one showed us how much these two love each other and how much they each meant to each other and seeing that slowly devolve in season two and then have it blown up in season three just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm just going to pretend the show ended in season one. Thanks a lot, writers.
  15. April and May were pretty busy for me, concert-wise. After falling into the Blackpink hole since late last year, I finally got to see the girls live two nights straight when they were in NJ. Definitely the highlight of my year, not even a contest. So much fun and seeing them enjoying themselves was amazing. The vocals, the choreography, their charisma, the atmosphere inside the arena? Unreal. I want to see them again so I hope they don’t wait too long for the next comeback. I didn’t go to Coachella but watched both of their sets during both weekends and I was blown away. First Kpop girl group to play at Coachella and they killed it. I also saw Sara Bareilles before her new album came out in April and she played at this very small club which my friends and I were lucky to even get tickets. I cried when she came out and sang her first song, Orpheus, from the new album. Sara’s vocals just impress me every time and I always am just in awe whenever she opens her mouth to sing. Vocal queen indeed. Then I saw Maren Morris (my third concert in one week after seeing Blackpink two nights earlier) which was beyond amazing. I was so gutted the last time she played NY during the Hero tour because I became a fan of her a week after she already played here. I wasn’t about to miss her again and it was so worth the wait. So much sass and those vocals, wow. Hearing Once, 80s Mercedes, and My Church live is an experience anything else. My next concert is not until October when I go to Boston for Sara Bareilles and then come back home to see her play out to a sold out Madison Square Garden. 😭
