  1. Just catching up, agree that line was out of character for Aunt Jack as he's become, but it was kinda totally sort of vintage Terry Lester Jackass back in the day. In any event, I loved that scene. They were wailing on each other. It was great entertainment.
  2. I am a bit troubled by the handling of the story.... Alzheimers is a specific type of dementia, one of seven as I recall (there could be more... both my parents died of it, the second in 2013, and they both had different types.) I don't know that Dina was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Maybe I FFd through it. Anyway the typical timeframe to death is about five years from the first appearance of symptoms (on average.) I'd say that was consistent with my experience. Alzheimers, I think, is a linear progression. (Neither of my folks had that type of dementia.) But when Dina called Abby Ashley, that seemed out of synch with where Dina is in her progression, given her other symptoms (which barely existed until a couple of weeks ago.) I just think you don't fuck with the reality of a real disease. $20 there will be a touching death bed scene with some sweet last words from Dina. It doesn't happen that way. By the time dementia kills you you haven't spoken in some time. So it's one thing to be a rotten soap, it's another to mess with a rotten story. They're cherrypicking here and it's kinda... I don't like it. They should stick to their strength, business stories, which they write so well. Aunt Jack's suffering doesn't get my dander up at all, but even I was like EEEEEEEW! at that scene. It was just... dispiriting. Seriously, is that living room painted a shade of purple or a shade of brown? I'm going to Benjamin Moore in the morning. Also too Nikki's hair looked amazeballs.
  3. Dina's Alzheimers seems to be racing along now the cat's out of the bag. Randomly, is the paint in the Abbott's living room purple or brown?
  4. A blast from the past I found on the Youtube... Too lazy to figure out where best to put it. Dina's original recipe return
  5. No... no..... Peaches... wasn't you. I just could not believe show has a nearly eighty year old woman running around slashing people with a table knife, because I thought I knew the definition of stupid. So I was just clarifying that show actually did this. Show deserves to be cancelled. I'd tweet at Angelica McDrivethru but she let this happen so doubt she's smart enough to understand how stupid it i. I feel sorry for Marla Adams... so late in life she gets a shot at working, she comes back, she gets a part AND does something with it and now she's reduced to this... this will be her last part... stabbing people with a table knife. Also, too, what did it take three years to fire Jill fucken Phelps but only one to fire Sally McSnore? She might have been boring, but at least she had some class.
  6. No snark.. please confirm: Dina actually used a knife as a weapon on Nikki? Yes or no.
  7. @bananna.... I hear you... I just don't want the issue presented, properly or at all. Dina's about the most interesting thing on the damn show at present. I'd rather her kicking ass and taking names than losing her memory. But that's not gonna happen. Watching since Mal's improvements to writing and pacing, I realize just how tired these actors and characters are. I was watching 90 year old Nikki, with her I Dream of Jeannie meets Abby do and holes in her elbows, tottering - and I mean tottering (no object, with adverbial Move in a feeble or unsteady way ‘a hunched figure tottering down the path More example sentences 1.1usually as adjective tottering(of a building) shake or rock as if about to collapse.) through her scene and I'm just thinking this whole damn show is played out with no hope. I don't think it can be fixed.
  8. If Juliette is dead - and I think so - they totally blew a good death sequence... does anybody remember 427 BC when a character called Renata died after giving birth - in an apartment tower explosion and fire - on Search for Tomorrow? Now that was a soapy death. A couple of tubes and a shower cap in the dark doesn't really do much.
  9. The Dina story is rapidly losing its charm for me. I didn't find her scenes with Gloria or Nikki particularly amusing because the behaviour is (I assume) part of the disease. We have a dementia patient (and both my parents died of it) acting out... but so what? There's no knowledge of it, anywhere. It's just a hamfisted handling of a sensitive issue. Fail now. Alzheimer's is a dead end story line, absolutely no pun intended. They could have brought back a feisty Dina but I doubt they have the talent or insight to go there now. And they can't just put her on meds and maintain the character... that would be an unfair and unethical message. I am pretty close to giving up again. I guess I will watch to the end of this storyline and then assess.
  10. But they need to do it fast because each day is only an hour long. Less if you're shopping.
  11. Today was appalling. Just pathetic. Almost parody. Watch the decline in viewers speed up.
  12. It's almost like they're going with an episodic approach, which you can do weekly but not daily IMO. And if we've gone from Abbott breakfast mode to lets burn down the Underground (burn up?) you can't sustain that indefinitely... this is like going back to the MAB days where it got so nuts toward the end of her reign. If they want to try to get viewers back they need a thought out, long term strategy to introduce a new core family, flesh out the generational levels of the existing families and integrate them (without having them so intertwined and intermarried it seems incestuous.) I think the Winters clan is spent. Although you could argue the Abbotts could go. (Even the Newmans, but you know what it's like to take out an old tree... the trunk may be easy but the stump is in there tight.) Shows probably doomed in any event (insofar as the next renewal.) I see a sharp drop in what little quality there was just in a few days of all Mal all the time. Sally's time was disappointing to me, but still much better than anything since the Gloria ate the show days.
  13. So is Graham out? Because frankly the guy is such a wooden actor I can't tell if that was a regular scene or his big exit. He seemed to be giving up. I couldn't tell if he was acting giving up.
  14. So I cut GT and Phyllis and what's his name and Billy way more slack than anybody but I found rom com-ing this offensive. He fucked her over big time... and there was never any mischief or fun about it... he just fucked her over. This is not something to have fun with. It should be the death of this unfortunate pairing. This didn't start as fun so you can't turn it into fun. Sucks, Mally, big time. I don't even like Scott but the dead hooker in the bloody bed... that's the start of some soapy goodness. Living nightmare. Interesting. Old school. Actually like it.
  15. When Phyllis finally blew today, I recalled what a good actress Gina is when she's given something to do.
  16. So not to put too fine a point on it but powers of attorney for health are enforceable when the person granting the power is incapacitated. Dina's not. Oi.
  17. so is it right that they are backing away from the lesbian storyline due to viewer backlash? or is this some protracted road to romance? because if it's reaction to viewer feedback it is interesting to me because suggests they don't do much in terms of focus groups in advance because this thing isn't surely getting backlash that wouldn't have surfaced in research too.
  18. Here's mine.... sort of double edged but I couldn't resist: Please keep Marla Adams and the Dina Mergeron character on Y&R. She's an enormously engaging actress and the character is a link to the old days, when the show didn't stink quite so much. I try to keep watching. I need an incentive. Marla Adams has been making me laugh. She's a trouper. Find some soapy wiggle way out of the Alzheimer's story and keep her around to mix it up. Thanks for your consideration. Neither young nor breastless. Does this creature actually exist?
  19. Read on another board - no attribution - but they're planning or at least toying with Grampire and Gloria... which, to be honest, I think would be completely hilarious.
  20. Great article, Twisted.... she seems like a spitfire. I hope they do a rethink and let her stay on... she's fun and spunky.
  21. It struck me today that a big part of what was missing in this reveal - which seemed haphazard to me - was music. Good old rich moving violiny soapy goodness music. Y&R was particularly good at background music and that was missing.
