  1. Part of the thing with Devon is IMHO he's just boring as a can of paint. Nothing they give him seems to liven him up. Maybe it needs a recast but the actor, while adequate, doesn't seem terribly vital.
  2. They should bring everybody back for Brock's funeral. And have some of them stay. I don't know what there is for Nina to do but I have always found Tricia Cast capable of some of the best and most moving acting on the show. I still recall her goodbye scenes with Ronan. It was good stuff. Agree the Chancellor money going to Devyawn (adore that!) was a big stupid mistake. But there's a good story there. Have some of the Chancellor non heirs sue for a cut. Have Mac abandon granola in favour of cash. Get to a settlement. Imagine Mis Hilary caught up in that fiasco.
  3. Also, if Paul was my weepy, infantilizing brother I'd throw my paints too.
  4. I am literally afraid to say this but I like Jason Thompson as Billy. I think he's handsome, I think his acting is pretty natural, I think he's a good soap actor. I had no idea who he was or what he did on GH or anywhere else, so watching him cold, I like him. I remember Billy Miller always grimacing and making stupid faces (maybe he picked up a few pointers from Sharon Case) but I liked him for being built like a brick shithouse but other than that his range seemed to run from silly grin to brooding scowl. With nothing to judge him on but what he does, I quite like Jason Thompson, with all his scene partners.
  5. Not a spoiler but a speculation that's really a question. Where is all this money coming from to give back the Newmans their fake ranch and the Abbott house its dining room and put Chancellor park under real skies? Is there a cast trim coming? Because I don't get where the money is coming from all of a sudden. Unless it was never that bad and JPF came up with bullshit solutions to save money just to say.
  6. Is Ashley gonna coug Travis? Because Victoria looked like she'd caught Ashley zipping his fly. I hate to say this, but if they're gonna keep bitter Jack scolding Phyllis it's, to quote biscuitbutt, gonna get old real fast. None of this shit is funny. (One thing Y&R doesn't do well is comedy, bar Marge and sometimes Patty.) I wish they'd opted to have Phyllis and Jack do the battling Abbotts in a long, drawn out, bitter divorce that ends in reconciliation. Poor Stitch and Abby.... wanna bet they're moving to... um... Switzerland because Stitch got a job in a clinic there and Max can get a new brain in it.
  7. Surely Alden was around during the pre Abbott/Newman era of Brooks' and Fosters? She might know how to structure the show. The problem is they don't have a strong third and fourth second string family (like the Prentiss' and the Williams,) yet oddly the cast feels too big - probably because they've failed largely to integrate them. Though you could argue the Winters' collective hand wringing about Jack represents an improvement... for once the majority of people in town (save planet Chelsea) are aware/engaged in the biggest story on the canvas. (Much as I loathe Victor, I quite liked him giggling on the sofa when he found out... that was real... didn't advance the story much but it was a nice break from the endless plot movement.) Out there in the ether is Brooks Prentiss, Jennifer Foster, a whole raft of potential relations that could fatten the gene pool and the storylines. Even the Winters' are capable of being made to work under the right circumstances. (Although Devon is a bad actor. Just a wooden, bad actor. Not cringe bad but not very good. He and Hillary were walking all over each other in their Chancellor Cheap Outdoor Furniture, Faux Pottery and Dog Walking Area scenes.) The writing for Jess Walton right now is crap. She is a better actress than the garbage they're giving her. Jill is a pointless meddler. The problem with the scripts to date is they never explore deeply enough the motivations or the conflict for the characters. Why does Jill meddle so with Billy? They came close in the heart attack turned fart scene but they never paid it off fully. (For that matter, why did she give such an intense fig about Jack's feelings in all this mess? She and Jack barely speak and I wouldn't call them ripe with affection for each other.) This mess is ripe for a reflective, revealing scene between Jack and Jill on that time they decided to destroy everyone's lives with a snowy romp in the woods. Like Victor giggling on the couch, it wouldn't accomplish much but would be such a nice touch. Anyway I should trod off to the fix the show thread...
  8. Also, today, I had two laugh out loud moments that were, I thought, just really good, attentive, thoughtful writing. The first was when butt biscuit said to Cane: other than fooling Jill into thinking you were her son, what qualifies you to have a seat at the table? I am meh about butt biscuit and loathe loathe loathe Cane but I thought it was funny. And then, claw my own eyes out, Cane made me laugh like crazy when he told Jill to dial it down and ended with I'm gonna go do some work now, because you know what? I'm the only person doing any work around here. I hate Cane and that guy made me laugh. F
  9. Today I was all happy because I thought briefly that Lauren had gotten a (lovely, modern, flattering, age appropriate) Lady Mary Crawleyish bob; only to realize that even worse than the usual Irish Setter, she had woven it into Anne of Green Gables' braids.
  10. Was there ever any explanation/gossip about the actual JFP firing? How long did she last anyway? How much worse have the ratings gotten? Was it because of the Jeanne Cooper hologram? (Because it bloody well should have been. I could endure her cigar store indian turned GCPD's finest, but that hologram was creepy.)
  11. So, random nothing but I don't get the intense hate of you guys for Billy. I don't particularly like him and I think what he did was shitty.... I didn't know the actor from GH and I know - and agree - most gifts courtesy the unnamed JFP should be returned to sender - but I think he's sometimes an interesting actor and like that in some respects he looks more like Jill than he does John. I guess what I can't get past is I don't particularly like... here come the knives.... Peter Bergman. I don't hate him but I find his style really really hammy no matter what crap they hand him to act with. He's either sounding Joshua's trumpet or soooooooo paiiiiinfulllllly siiiiiinceeeeeeeeere he puts me off. He's over the top. Peter Bergman, who I think is a real gentleman and nice guy, makes me feel like I'm watching a silent movie star too much of the time. I never really buy him and Phyllis as a couple. Wimp, pretendy John Jack could never get, let alone keep, Phyllis (certainly not Xbox Phyllis, but not even I can actually act Phyllis.) He worked for me before with some other actresses, like the Patty shrink chick, but he always seems to be trying so hard to give it that it feels like too much for me. I guess I never really bought that asshole, step mom screwing, secret Jabot stock exchange listing, Diane bonking, virgin bride Patti marrying Jack turned so wholly into pretendy John (who I quite loved overall, save for his sad propensity to marry every stray cat or Les Mis girl logo who showed up at or around 603 Glenwood Drive with a sad story and an ivory dress. But I guess Jill gave him such a good seeing to his judgement was permanently impaired. And of course his circulatory system speaks for itself. So yeah, Billy's been a dick and I don't think Jack should ever really totally forgive him. Who could, in actual life? I'd just like to see Jack talking so fucking much and do something. It was dumb to have him announce he was gonna do in Victor. Just start blood doing it. I was giggling along with Victor. And I hate Victor. Ducks.
  12. At least if they're copying somebody's homework they're copying Gone with the Wind, not Jackie Collins' Lucky Bitches or whatever.
  13. I was getting the Gone with the Wind thing too... I think the show has made a choice... it's Jack and Phyllis. It maybe Christmas before we get there but the actors work well together and there's really no one for PB, unless they're bringing someone in. But if it wasn't supposed to be Jack and Phyllis in the long run, I think they'd be writing it differently. Phyllis would be going all Joan Collins as portrayed by Brenda Dickson. Instead she's all regret. Now be easy enough to get her there but I think they want to milk the drama cow that is J & P.... lots of complications even after they happy couple it again. I just get the feeling the show is working toward telling people stories, not plot.
  14. Come on, ladies... Phyllis won't be exonerating anybody... she's good for at least a week of soapnesia, real and feigned. Although in the previews, she was looking Prince Horning with something akin to disgust and horror, I that.
  15. So in classic soap opera whoopsy... why did Phyllis appear to be topless in the elevator? Was Billy doing VPR? I also suppose today was wiggle room for Jack's about face on Phyllis?
  16. I'm kinda puking at Angelica McDriveThru... she and SteveO were JFarrenShowfukrs biggest boosters for how many years? Yeah, you care soon much.
