Don't apologize for your compassion!  You sound like a caring person.  I found the cake tasting hard to watch, too, but for different reasons.  I am nauseated easily by seeing food in someone's mouth.  I had to look away when she opened her mouth for another bite, while the current bite was still in there.  I would have been upset at TLC if the cameras had been hidden, paparazzi-style, but Whitney was fully aware that they were there. I would not have acted that way, without cameras, in public or in front of a friend.  At 32, Whitney should have more self-control, and simple table manners, with or without cameras.

She advocates for no body shame, but needs to demonstrate a little self-respect and dignity.  When you show the world that you have no pride in your appearance:  poor grooming, tie-dyed two sizes too small leggings, eating with your mouth open, lying on the floor for strangers to feel your buttocks, you don't send the message that you are trying to command respect.

Mama, I think we are siblings, separated at birth!

It would be easy to stop these things but they don't. They can still keep their mouths shut if they don't want to confront Princess Twit. There doesn't have to be a formal intervention. Just simply stop taking part in her self-destruction.

'Cause if they stop doing those things for her, poof! There goes the show and the TLC Gravy Train....for ALL  of them drawing a paycheck from it.

That preview was just...bizarre.  The pig is humping her leg, and she throws her arms up, and flops back on the couch.  No jumping up, and shaking the pig  off??!!!

Whitney's tears looked real to me when she was talking to Kerryn outside. I can't see how that could be faked. She was probably hired by the show and told to comment on Whitney's fatness since that is the only thing the show cares about now. But I doubt Whitney was in one it.

Her tears probably were real because she's delusional enough to have totally bought into this little story she's built of her life  -- "No one values me as a human because I'm fat! You're all looking at me, or making fun of me, behind my back! I was bullied as a child!!"

She has built up this fantasy world, and I'm pretty convinced she believes it happened. Why did she get bullied as a child? As many have pointed out, she was thin then, and seemed popular.  Part of me wonders if she suffered some type of sexual abuse as a child.  I hear that as a recurring theme with a lot of compulsive eaters. (Not all.)

I am coming to the conclusion that Whitney herself is in on the joke along with the show's producers.  I think she has abandoned any goal of looking good to the world so she doesn't mind if they spin a negative image of her, as long as it's good for ratings.  She's playing a part.  I don't know if this change is TPTB's or hers or both.  Either way, she is not complaining about it and letting it happen.  And they know that the people who buy into the No BS campaign will still like her in spite of the bad image because with that image she validates everything bad about themselves that they don't want to change.

Yes, I find that odd, as well.   How could she NOT be posting somewhere (or having someone post on her behalf) saying to her adoring fans, "I didn't do/say/imply _____________...it was all due to editing, and it's all fake!"  Or...has she done this, and I missed it?  I miss a lot. :)

  8. Shoeless Whitney Way Thore --

Her feet and ankle area looked pretty deformed to me -- I don't know what other word to use.  They look...misshapen.  So perhaps it's not just the fact that she can't physically get them on due to her inability to reach down and tie them, she also can't get them on due to her feet and lower limbs being swollen.

Not to keep mentioning My 600 Pound Life, but there are lots of patients on there whose lower limbs are similar. Maybe it's lymphedema setting in for her. http://www.lymphnet.org/le-faqs/what-is-lymphedema

Another thing that bothered me about Whitney's conversation with the comedian was her whine about having value as a human being etc. Poor Whitney, people think she's subhuman. Barf. No one is saying she doesn't have value. No one is saying she's a lesser human being. In fact  people are saying the exact opposite. They are saying she's important and valuable to them so she needs to worry about her heath and not drop dead before she's 40. Whitney's definition of fat shaming is any time someone tells her something she doesn't want to hear.

Yeah, she's got a huge chip on her shoulder.

Watch her face when shoveling in the cake. It is bizarre. Not a smile or or obvious ecstasy, but it is sort of orgasmic. Her eyes sort of glaze over and stare straight ahead. She almost doesn't even chew. Those producers are showing their hate gradually. It is unravelling before us. Look how we see the hair Velcro extensions. Why does she leave the house like that, though???

So I am overweight. Not obese. I love food. It's my only vice. I love feeling full, but it takes a lot to get there. Just saw a commercial recently for binge eating disorder. Basically eating a lot, quickly, in one sitting. Not feeling full easily. I remember going out to lunch with coworkers and always being finished first, wishing for more. They noticed how quickly I ate. This must be a part of Whitney's issues.( I'm sure there is a funny name for sitting down and clearing the table like the Tasmanian Devil.)

I liked the comedian. LOVED her tweet. I don't care that she was smoking. She freely admitted her addiction, unlike Whitney. Try to make a living going up on stage and try to entertain people, many of whom are drunk. That's stress and pressure. Not a once a week joke job or "teaching" an 8th grade mixer-style dance class. BTW, is the class once a week? I guess all that "dancing" counts as exercise???

Is anyone surprised about Whit threatening to have PA's fired for busting the smoking thing? When I see a flash of anger in those eyes, my heart skips a beat. If you have ever known anyone with a temper and then throw in the intimidation factor of 400 pounds, that is really scary. Please smack her down, Dr.Now. He is from Iran. He won't take her shit either.

Re: Whitney being in an altered state as she eats

I always tell my kids (and remind myself) that it takes 20 minutes from the beginning of eating for your brain to get the message that you are full. http://www.livestrong.com/article/489875-how-does-your-stomach-tell-your-brain-that-youre-full/

  11. Best lines of the night list (paraphrased). Please add yours:

"I'm still trying to find out what his role is."  (comedian referring to Buddy)

"For a happy person, you sure cry a lot."  (comedian referring to Whitney)

    "I don't even like cake." (Whitney, mid-shovel)

"Hey now -- " (Lennie, after Whitney's "I'll never get married" remark)  That one was just plain out of place.

"I don't want to be defined by a number." (Whitney, referring to her disappointing weight gain)

"If you're honest with yourself, you'll admit you have a food addiction." (comedian confronting Whitney)

    "I lost 100 pounds!" (Whitney's infamous wail of self-validation)

First I need to say thanks for all of these comments!  This board really took of this year, I can barely keep up and I love it.

Yes!  Now as a former morbidly obese and now normal weight person, I don't like to see anyone judged on his or her size (look, it's a personal battle and the fat person knows he or she is fat--telling him or her repeatedly doesn't help).  This comedian said pretty much everything I have been thinking for the past two years.

I started watching this show because I thought Twit would make a difference...I even started following her on Facebook.  I soon realized that she is actually making it worse because she is highlighting every stereotypical aspect of being fat, but at least this year they are being up front about it.  Last season I had to stop following her on Facebook because there were absolutely no negative comments and because she "yelled" at me on Facebook for posting a somewhat negative comment (she posted something about Oprah buying Weight Watchers and because of the piss poor way she wrote her comments, she appeared to be for this purchase, so when i called her out on it, she yelled at me to "read what she wrote"--unfollow).  I also couldn't watch her show last season because it was just so fake.  I'm SO GLAD they are calling her out on her bullshit this year.

Buddy's girlfriend has the patience of a saint.  Either that, or she's getting a fat check too.  There is NO WAY in HELL that I would let my boyfriend go to a comedy club with another woman.  But Twit had to take Buddy because Lenny would have sat there all night with absolutely no expression on his face (that we can see anyway).  Lenny is no help.  Lenny also gives absolutely no fucks, as illustrated on the way he dressed for her parent's party.

Whitney may know she's fat (heck, I know I'm fat), but her delusions of being healthy overshadow that knowledge.  Her mantra is, "Yeah, I'm fat, but I'm healthy, and my life is fabulous!"

She's never going to get it, until that delusion is dealt with.

New to this blog....kind of new to the show...    Yes, Whitney's eating is out of control, looks like her life is unraveling and she is the only one that can change that.

The one thing I will say about the comic is that she sure is full of herself-  is she considered a morbid smoker?  Just wondering?

Apparently, Whitney smokes a pack a day, as well.  So add  that to her morbidity list.

I don't know, but I'm starting to get the feeling that this is going to come to an abrupt end - like "Honey BooBoo" did. But not for the same reasons of course. But still a big crash and burn. And we may never know exactly why. Something's gotta give.

I envision the season finale going something like this: Whitney's situation comes to a head....after another collapse and/or family intervention, we see Whitney coming face to face with Dr. Now....to be continued next season.

I think the people around Whitney enable her out of self preservation. She doesn't want to change. She doesn't want to hear any kind of constructive criticism or advice. All it takes is one look at the crappy way she treats Will, as the one person who calls her on her crap, to know that anyone who tries to help her is going to be abused and berated. Why put yourself through it if there is no chance anything you do is going to help her and the consequences are so unpleasant. So they take the path of least resistance. It's still a crappy path but maybe at least a bit more peaceful.

And that's fine -- if she has no intention of ever changing -- she needs to stop lying about it.

OK, but what happened? Seriously. I think if anyone said that, and looked like Whit looks, the natural reaction would be, 'what happened?' Yet, she's so offended by people's responses. She doesn't get that it's no longer a point of pride when you've gained it all back and then some.

Weight control is hard. I'm not shaming or blaming her for gaining the weight, but please shut up about what you did in the past. It no longer matters. It's what you do now that counts - and it looks like you are doing a whole lot of nuthin'.

I've got news for her...it gets a heck of a lot harder to lose weight as you get older.

I love cake but I was disturbed by how rapidly Whitney was inhaling the cake, and by the sheer volume of cake.  A tasting is just that...a tasting!  A bit or two of a few samples.  It's not designed to be a gorge-fest.  When she asked if she could take home the leftovers, that made it worse.

In general, I noticed that Whitney takes HUGE bites and eats very fast.  It's pretty much on every episode.  Not to sound too psycho-babblish, but a little mindful eating practice would be a good idea.  Slow down, taste and enjoy each bit - don't inhale at the speed of light.

    Sad.

Sorry to be repetitive, but that's how all the people on My 600 Pound Life eat.  As if they are eating furtively....afraid someone will snatch the plate out from under them before they can take another bite.  It's like they don't even have time to taste the food, but like they're trying to fill up their stomach as fast as they can.  Whitney makes every event a "once in a lifetime" excuse to eat to oblivion.

  17. "I hate to be defined by a number."

Another delusional statement one makes when one doesn't really wish to face how much weight they've gained due to their unrestrained, gluttonous lifestyle. I hope she enjoys the gravy train, because I have a feeling it's on the road to derailment.

  18. Why did Buddy go with her to the comedy club? Where was Lennie? If I were Buddy's girlfriend, I might find that a tad odd.

Way to hijack your parents special day, and make it all about you, Whitney.

I can't even see this show going for another season UNLESS it's a Dr. Now crossover show.

I was a little alarmed at the huge bites of cake she was taking.  I'm surprised she didn't end up choking.

That was just literally disgusting to watch. And I like cake.  She reminded me of so many of the 600-pound people, shoveling food in their mouths.  And it wasn't just a trick of the camera, or slo-mo....she did the same thing at her parent's birthday dinner. And the last thing I need to see is food plastered all over the inside of Whitney Thore's  mouth.  I don't even understand what that shot was all about. What she laughing, or just showing her food for all interested parties? I feel like I"ll  never eat again.

This is the reason a lot of larger people don't work out. And regular folks for that matter. While by and large most people are focused on their own work outs there's the occasional ass hole who wants to make fun of somebody who isn't as perfect as the asshole thinks they should be.

If someone truly wants to work out, big or small, they will. Even if they do it at home.  Saying you're not going to work out because someone might make fun of you is just a cop out.  You don't need a gym membership to get healthy at home.  But if you are not inclined to work out, no matter what you have, you're not going to use it. I'm mostly talking to myself here, since I have a treadmill, elliptical and total gym downstairs. But am I on it? No. I'm here reading away. :)

It's beyond morbidly obese, she was morbidly obese 200 pounds ago, at this point she is disabled by her obesity, she can't even engage in basic self care. It's honestly very sad to say again it's feeling gross to watch this spectacle of a pathetic woman killing herself with with this kind of delusion.

TLC is taking advantage of her.

You know, I really think we in America (and perhaps other countries as well, too) have absolutely no idea of what "morbidly obese" means.  I found this:

Morbid obesity is a medical term describing people who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40, or of 35 to 40 with significant medical problems caused by or made worse by their weight. BMI of 40 amounts to approximately 100 pounds above ideal weight.https://www.google.com/search?q=morbidly+obese+definition&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

So, a person whose ideal body weight is 130 would be considered morbidly obese at 230.  That's a lot of America.
