  1. Why does it seem that there is something missing from this thought? Sigh, my fingers aren't as fast as my brain so they skip a bit to catch up. Fixed. I am not one to let being miserable get in the way of having a good time.
  2. I watched the Brazil Germany game and the Germans scored so often I missed one and couldn't figure out what happened. I am very surprised that the Brazilian people didn't flip the fuck out and start setting cars on fire and smashing windows. I watched the Argentina Netherlands game and nearly fell asleep during it. It was a lot of fun though high altitudes give me problems There were a lot of bugs and scrapes and scratches but I do believe I am alive and in one piece. Cuz, he was near the beginning of the trail going in one direction and we were near the end of our trail going in the other. ;-)
  3. Hey everyone, how are things? Hey there writingdreamer! Welcome to the board! Happy July 4th everyone! I was backpacking in Colorado last week and missed both the US v Portugal game and the US v Germany game. We ran across a German hiker Friday morning but I totally forgot to ask him. We didn't learn the results until Friday afternoon. I tried to get to Cowboy stadium for the US v Belgium match but traffic was horrendous. I ended up at Gas Monkey Bar and Grill.
  4. Hey everyone, how are things? For some stupid reason I thought the US - Ghana game started at 6:30 CST, and it did not. I was working and I thought I would leave at 6 and get to someplace to watch it and when I checked at 6 to confirm my times, I was flabbergasted to learn that the game was half over and we were winning. It was all in all a kind of yucky day. Is there anything to do in YARRRRRmouth? Or are you going to get there, clear customs, and turn around and come back? Neat, the Space Dandy is kinda cool...
  5. As I read the Forum, I pick up points and questions and address them as I see them. We should, and since the construct never takes off his helmet, I won't have to grind my teeth at a 25 year old playing the part of a 36-44 year old. Remember that Oberyn used a very slow, very painful poison and that the Mountain's screams were heard throughout the castle until Cersei has him sent to the dungeons? the Red Keep? to die. I don't remember where he ended up. And he ended up lasting well into the next book iirc, albeit in pain and never really seen again. Concerning Oberyn Flynning and doing acrobatics etc. in the duel: I originally hated it and thought it was silly and then I as I watched it a second time, it occurred to me, of course Oberyn would do the acrobatics and showy flashy fighting. Who else would do it but him? That is exactly the sort of duelist he would be. And then I started to appreciate all the unnecessary flourishes and spins and things that just wouldn't work in a normal gritty Westeros duel.
  6. No. The Vale, and its castle the Eyrie, are in a mountainous region to the east of the Kingsroad as the road goes north from the Crossroads Inn. Moat Cailin is on the Kingsroad about halfway between Crossroads Inn and Winterfell. When the opening credits are just starting you can see a big white area north of King’s landing. That is the Vale. In this Episode, the Opening credits zoom up the Kingsroad to Moat Cailin and you can see the mountains of the Vale swoosh by on the right. Tsk. Amarsir beat me to it by 15 minutes... Remember they were at the Twins at the time of the Red Wedding, so they had to go all the way back down the Riverlands.
  7. Morning everyone, how are things? It took me longer than it should have to get this...
  8. Hey everyone, How are things? *stacks boxes in a convenient closet* I posted my last at 11:48 EST iirc and I noticed that someone posted a few minutes after me, but having the last post wasn't that important. I think that NBC expected to grow TWOP into some sort of online hub and maybe envisioned it being much larger than it ever got. Whereas it being a small community is much more inline with it is. Hopefully PTV will not grow enticing enough so that another large company thinks it can create an online presence and the whole thing happens again. Not that I begrudge the owners/operators making bank.
  9. Didn't Tyrion in season 2 say that the crown had borrowed a lot of money from the Lannisters? So the Lannisters hold a lot of the crown debt, they aren't really broke, or rather the kingdom is more broke. So have the kingdom borrow enough money from the Iron Bank to pay off the Lannister debt, so that the Lannister's are rich again and then the crown should refinance the debt agreement with the Iron Bank. And if the Iron Bank refuses to refinance then, hey, at least the Lannister's aren't broke. I assume (though that may be stupid) that the Lannister's kingdom operated like all the other kingdoms plus had the gold. Even with war what happened to the centuries of gold mining? Why are the Tyrells richer when they were also at war and didn't have the gold? Remember that Mace Tyrell has been besieging Storm's End with at least some of the Tyrell forces, plus the Tyrells have fielded the army that rescued King's Landing. So even though the Tyrells weren't as heavily vested as the Lannisters in the war, the Lannisters still had their prewar stockpile of treasure. I refuse to believe that Tywin is worse at managing money than Mace. Though the turn around of "Lannisters always paying their debts" and then not being able to does fit in with GRRM's way of messing things up.
  10. They rarely have the big things happen in the last episode, so since the fight between the Mountain and the Viper is epi 8 and Tyrion needs to chill in the cell before he "escapes" I bet that epi 10 will be the death of Shae and Tywin, Arya in Braavos, and the last image will be Lady Stoneheart. IMO I am appalled by the what they have the Eyrie looking like. Straddling two mountains? WTF? and instead of a full day's walk up narrow and dangerous mountain paths it looks like you can just walk up some steps.
  11. Hey everyone. Immigrant (refugee?) from TWOP here. I was a long time poster in the Heroes Meet Mar-heyyyyy... I already know you two. How are things going Spruce, has life been treating you well? I have missed talking to you since forever ago. I had HVGB weather conditions sent to my phone so I could be smug about how less cold it was here. ;-) Hey Mark! Happy April 16.
  12. HURRAY! *Throws streamers and confetti* The episode that Bookwalkers have been waiting for since the announcement that the books would be an HBO series. Though for some reason I thought the reception took place indoors? Just watched the reception for the third time and you can pretty clearly see Olenna snagging the gem from Sansa's necklace. And even comforting Sansa while doing it: "War is war, but killing a man at a wedding, horrid. What sort of monster would do such a thing?" L O L The reception was sooo fantastically awkward, so well done. I dont remember Bronn betraying Tyrion. IIRC since everyone in Westeros and most importantly the Queen thinks Tyrion is guilty, Bronn sees himself in a no-win situation if he fights the Mountain. If he loses he is dead. If he wins he earns the everlasting enmity of Cersei, which is also fatal. So as I remember it, he is disinclined to involve himself in the trial. There were a lot of great one liners in this episode.
  13. Hello, recent immigrant from TWOP Nobody operates at Littlefinger levels of ethics, he is the anchorman at the shit-end of the ethics bell curve.
