Season 13, Ep. 10: Through the Looking Glass, Part 2. 2018.08.07
Monty9 replied to Frozendiva's topic in Face Off [V]
I'm just going to have to Ditto LittleIggy here. The only other thing to say is that I hope that FaceOff will continue, but if not, it's been fun y'all. Thanks for the snarky companionship. See you around the boards. -
from StrippedHalo. I'm on team Walter because while I love Jordan's aesthetic he does too many fake eyes masks in my opinion (which does work at times: see water creatures). I think Walter has shown more of a range. But I get that Walter gives very little emotional/personality/energy output so I understand. carpps Ditto halfway through I was going "That's a beauty make up?" The face looked a bit too hard and robotic rather than a face of a albeit ancient, undead, and hard to kill thing. I don't think this will happen but some little part of my cynical, snarky heart hopes that Battle Royale means that they are bringing back all of the champions from past seasons and have a big all out (probably monster) make-up off for the finale. I can hope for like two more weeks.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
Monty9 replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
It depends on if she documented the crap in it. Like if our shed burned up we'd say we lost a shed, our extra patio chairs, a 6' foldable table, and our lawnmower because we have pictures of the contents in our fire safe. If she did the same she could claim a shed plus couch, chandelier, whatever was in there. She could even argue that she improved the value of the shed. Not that she'd get a ton for painting it or curtains but.... -
(from Little Iggy) Heeeeeee. Late to the party, work is trying to kill me. 1. I need to comment on the beady baseball hat Matt was wearing in the first round. Normally he dresses like a mixture of a sword and sorcerers movie wear and a hard rock musician but that hat was older divorcee hitting up Atlantic City on a weekend. 2. We know another model's name! Cristoph! Who I most remember playing the creepy uncle that resembled the artist's ( including balding head) strangely accurately. He hit that one out of the park and seems like a good guy. 3. I am terrible at art, and I know that it's hard to near-impossible to paint other colors over black, so when she was explaining what she was going to do even I was like "Oh noooo that is NOT a good idea". 4. Count me as another member of team "Walter's was better".

At the start I was thinking Matt's would look more like a older, traditional style of African hairstyle {see:https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/461830136767432495/} and thought it could have looked lovely but the model looked like a deranged mushroom instead. Of course a lot of them looked like ass this week. I agree about the expert not seeming to help at all but I think that muddy paint job ruined it all. Light, pretty colors on the face and improvising instead of an inverted cone to paint the cowl like instead she had long, puffier hair that spread out with some nice "hair" accessories would have saved it. I am glad that they've stopped whining about doing ethnic makeup but still there are those shocked and totally unprepared for beauty makeup? Even after already being on the show before? *harumphs*

I was a bit surprised that Kelly went over Mel given that Kelly's 1. Actually looked like a ghost and 2. You could figure out the concept. It wasn't true to anatomy yes but obviously the judges have a particular trade oriented bug up their butts about that. Plus when Mel said that her maid being strangled and having handprints on her neck was whimsical......that was weird. *Surprised voice* I actually liked a work of Kevon's. Huh. The model did a good job but was Meghan not available that week? If any part called out for Meghan, that was it. That makeup was a bit gross. A little too gross. But he went with it. He also was Yvonne's previous handyman so he has a history of being covered in questionable concepts.

maelstrom Totally, totally agree with you. I thought it looked great. I also thought that while Damien's paint job was amazing and it was an interesting piece of art, I tend to like things that convince me "Ok, that's totally a living creature standing there." But the head was way too 50's cheap alien looking rather than classic or however Glenn described it. Plus I am still confused what is the difference between a makeup vs. a mask/big rubber head.

sourpickles He is wrong. I support you and your choices. I did like most of the contestants they brought back. The 2 person team season had more favorites but I was happy overall with the choices. It was great to see Doug Jones who, if they could get him, should be the permanent 4th chair. Also I am such a Guillermo del Toro apologist that I watched the entirety of "The Strain" (his fx series). So this challenge was great for me. I wish I knew more of the models names (note to self: rewatch spy episode, it listed a lot of them) . I mean I know Matt but he's my boyfriend* after all, he'd be insulted otherwise. *totally not true. electric boogaloo Very true. I loved both Gingerbread men but was meh on the Captain Hooks. mlp Producers! That is such bs! Do something! Fix it!

I liked it, a lot. My nitpick is that Black Lightning seemed to take a long time to get to the motel. He walks to the tailor, they discuss supersuits (without a cape! Edna Mole would have approved), and it's night before he gets there. But I liked the action, the cast was great, he had cool powers, and I really liked the reveal of the older daughters superpowers. [shallow] When the shower scene was happening me: Woo! [/shallow]

Ugh! Zack just....... I mean a young boy with his first crush it's understandable that he wouldn't know that someone being nice to you does not = them liking you in that way. It's even understandable that he might feel like he was mislead given his age and inexperience.(Note those 13 and under are the only ones where this is excusable, unfortunately too many damn "adults" think that being nice to someone/buying them something means that you own someone else's feelings and or body) However, then he let his pet eat her. In a way it would have been a more natural path to eeeeeevil for Zach to have 1. Shot the tiger 2. Fed her to the pet THEN 3. Initiate a nuclear strike on Manhattan. I am hoping that this means that they officially aren't going for a redemption arc though. I suppose a bloody death would be too much to ask for but dying would be enough. I liked the other story this time. Stuff happened! Charlotte was great! We got to know Quinlan better and things got wrapped up. More episodes this season should have been like this part.

I missed most of the episode because while the weather was only lightly drizzly my STUPID CABLE was still fritzing out. Only satellite has problems in rain? Lies! LIES! I tell you. So on the makeups only - Andrew is clearly the star of this season. His was pretty great. Picking Megan and a really great design = win. While I totally agree that Suzanne should have gone I don't quite understand the judges confusion about what was going on. The concept I got right away, it was just terribly done. It's fine that Kiersten is owning up to her mistakes but now she needs to show that she has learned from them. Again, people are trying out for this show when they are clearly not ready. Sour Pickles Yes, but I personally have the rule of respecting no boundaries when picking my TV boyfriend, so go ahead! Crush away! He's awesome.

I think it needed a tongue. But I think it helped hugely that it was the only one that you could figure out what sin the demon was related to. Throughout the whole reveal I was going" What the he... is that? What? Help me out show! Give me some text at the bottom of this screen." Suzanne, Suzanne, I DO believe that people should mostly wear what they want and heck with everyone else but you're a grown ass adult woman dressing like a 5 year old. You are testing my open minded-ness. Thank God Jill is gone. People can't help their voice and mine is nasally as hell but I was half convinced she would retire to a corner for a nap at any moment.

First: Yay for using Meghan and my Boo Matt! Good choices people! Second: I had no idea that it was such a big thing to remove stuff but it makes some of the interaction make more sense. I thought both Nick and Liz were lacking in adult social skills. Liz: Give your opinion that you want the colors warmer, you wish not to base out in white, if he says no at least you communicated your feelings. No passive aggressive "I don't know if I need help do I? " whatever. But given the taboo on removing stuff I will give her a little leeway. Nick: BS pep talks do not replace asking for their feedback on how he is doing and whether people know what the plan is. Communication needs to be two-ways not just you being bossy. But I did enjoy kicking ass and taking names Glenn this week.

Aw man, when they said makeup shops would compete I thought ACTUAL shops would compete against each other. *sad trumpet noise* Booooooooo Therefore the barrel's bottom was scraped again and we got some more newbies. Why would you go on Face Off if you've never done a chest piece before? I am sorry I have no respect for that. Granted I often disagree with the judges but only saw promise in one wolf in each group this round. [Science nerd] Wolves in their natural packs do not have alpha/betas/competition for dominance ! That's the result of observations on non-related wolves forced to live together in a zoo. Wolves actually live in family groups so if you see "alphas" ordering around "betas" it's parents ordering around their kids. Harumph [/Science nerd] And no one picked my boo Matt OR Meghan. That's just poor judgement. Double harumph. But I am glad to be with my fellow commenters again, lovely to talk to you all.

Yep, I also was saying "Shut UP Adam! Don't just whine, think up a damn idea on your own!" Then...........he thought up an idea and then I was like *muttering* "Okthatwasaprettydecentidea." snarkytart The producers passed by such an opportunity by not doing that. Sometimes it IS fun watching a slaughter. Suspense sushmence. and talking about granted they all might be getting the positive edit but I like them all even more after spending more time with them this season, the others have tended to lose their shine a little bit. Wet blanket part : I know it's a trope but the character using the wheel chair is based on a real condition. It just makes me a bit sad that maybe some parent of a child with the same condition would see someone make a horror character out of them. I mean people with burns are also shown as scary as well but for whatever reason I'm not fond of them doing that particular character. *shrugs*
