  1. *hums "Dick in a Box"*
  2. "Didn't she kill one of those guys that was talking about Robb last season?." That felt more reactive to me--she did use strategy (the fakeout with the coin) but she was really flipping out with the knife there, you could hear her crying. This was much more controlled, especially the way she quoted his lines back to him.
  3. It's worth noting that this is the first time Arya has (personally, as opposed to having Jaquan Hagar do the deed) killed in cold blood. One more milestone on her journey of transformation from Lady Arya Stark of Winterfell to...what? What is she becoming? Also, I want to know if that landlord/tavern keeper was killed or hurt in that melee? It looked like he was in the mix there. If the Hound does end up taking her to the Eyrie, Littlefinger is there. I wonder what his reaction will be to the horrible circumstances of Cat's death? And will he recognize Arya as Tywin's cupbearer?
  4. Cersei disappoints. I was remembering what she said the Ned, that she and Jaimie shared a womb--and this is how she treats him? Yes, Cersei, you suffered through a siege--Jaimie LOST A HAND. It is known (TM Irri) that Cersei is not *quite* as single-minded as Jaimie (hello, cousin Lancel)! but still, you'd think she would be a bit more understanding. Shae is Dead Whore Walking. I called this two seasons ago, when Tywin said the next whore I find in your bed, I'll hang. It's actually bad writing because it's difficult for me to believe that a character as pragmatic ("let's GTFO, Tyrion" after Blackwater), or as aware of possible peril (the knife under her skirt) as she would be so clueless about how stupidly she's acting. It actually interferes with my appreciation of her character. Arya is going straight to hell but I can't blame her. Score one for Lommy Greenhands. LOOOOOOVED the convo between Jaimie and Brienne. Love, love, love their changed dynamic. Love it. When he asked "am I related to you?" I wanted to add "because I'm suddenly attracted to you." Except that their relationship is so much more than that. Not that he wouldn't be better off with anyone Cersei. I disliked the old Daario (he came off as cheesy, Fabio-esque), this one is better. Oh Tywin. FUCK YOU for that opening scene. Rot in hell. I wanted to love you because of your interactions with Arrya in Season 2 but seriously fuck you. Melting down Ice was bad enough but burning Grey Wolf? ROT IN HELL.
  5. My friend is currently working on a project with Mindy Cohn, so I ordered him over to my place for a carefully curated FOL marathon. I included several episodes from Season 1 for the camp factor, including the infamous pilot ("YOU are STRANGE, Cindy!") and some of my favorites, like: *Tootie almost getting kidnapped by the pimp (Tammie Lauren does a *fantastic* job in that episode, everything is so subtextual) *Blair standing up for Jo to her country club jerkass friend (fantastic episode--love the message of girl solidarity and whoever wrote it really nailed how WASPs talk) *Blair trying to dump her emotionally abusive BF (LOVE this episode. "Of course I want to go!...But I don't--*want*--to want to go...I *don't* want to go.") *And the one where Mindy makes up a story about an Eastland student who gets an abortion, is threatened with expulsion unless she reveals her source, and then a real life case falls into her lap. (Which I think is the best-written episode in the whole series.) One of my favorite series ever!
