I hated her from her first scene and that never changed. She is “trapped” because she is too lazy and entitled to work for a living? I’m sure she would get a good amount of child support if they got divorced. I have no respect for women like her.

You have no idea what her responsibilities are as a mom and how much time that takes.  If they are like most families he can go off and do this thing and never worry about the kids.  She can’t. Child support doesn’t make them equal and neither does alimony. Plus, she is dealing with a cheating husband.  Not a good situation for her either way.

  2. If Lionsgate has already paid for the majority of the season 2 production I would assume they would be willing to accept a bargain price to help offset some of the cost.  Either way, I hope and expect someone to sign on.

I still think those are his kids.  I really don't believe she was saying those were her trainers kids, just that she has her fun but stays in her terrible marriage FOR the kids.

One review of the finale felt that they may not be Cameron’s kids based on the scene in which he did not seem interested in talking to them in the hotel room while he was flossing.  I am not sure I agree with that but it could mean something.

  4. I thought Daphne was the most likable character on the show.  Right now she feels trapped in a marriage to a jerk and has found a way to make the best of it. Eventually she will find her way out when she feels the time is right and she has the strength. Sometimes you have to see reality clearly and work with it.

    New theory (completely spoiler-free):
Alessio (regardless of his true relation to Lucia) kills everyone who slept with her at the Hotel.

Wait, did Tarantino write the last episode? 😜

  6. It is interesting that Daphne and Cameron are not faithful to each other but really seem to love (and like) each other while Harper and Ethan are faithful, but miserable.  I have really had enough of Harper's and Ethan's relationship. End it already.

Kind of amazing how well Gigi's doing after what looked like a fatal car crash there. She got hit head on by another car and five days later she's totally fine.

Oh, and it looks like yes, Tess and Shane are indeed opening another bar around the corner from their first bar.

The crash looked nasty but it was a side hit, not head on which may be why she was less injured.

Are we to assume that Bette (Jennifer Beals) is not going to be on the show much and that's why she shipped off to Toronto to be with Tina? Maybe I missed that in the pre-season discussion.

I don’t think they’re the trainer’s kids.  She loves her husband, and there’s nothing obviously physically deficient about him that she wouldn’t want his genes for her children.  I could see some kind of accident happening, perhaps, but not more than once.  I don’t know why she showed that picture.  She could’ve picked up on a vibe from her hubby and Harper, after all, she knows he cheats.   But I’m not sure if she saw what was going on under the table.

I agree they aren't the trainers' kids. Maybe you quoted my post instead of the one I quoted.

I think she showed her that picture to let Harper know that he focus is her kids and that's how she, in part, deals with her husbands cheating.

She also plays Jean Smart's housekeeper in Hacks.

Kimia Behpoornia who plays Azmina was also on Hacks, albeit only 1 episode.

I didn’t even recognize Rose Abdoo in this.

  10. I know I am in the minority of both really liking the 10 episode run and not being bothered by “plot gaps.”

With these types of shows I am much more interested in the character development and interactions between the characters. The plot has some importance but once Alan was a prisoner in Sam’s basement it became all about him, Sam, the mom and Alan’s therapist. Sure, I was interested in how it was going to end but that was more of a side note. Alan’s captivity allowed him to assess his relationship with his son and where he may be at fault. He also helped give the viewer insight into what a deranged mind like Sam’s was thinking about and how that could be swayed. That stuff is fascinating to me much more so than the “Law and Order” whodunit plot components.

(This is in no way a diss to those who are more interested in plot stuff. We all like different stuff.)

The sister, btw, added an interesting note, I thought, too. She's clearly not as angry at Ezra and just told him to get some rest and promised to put up the rest of the fliers, but at the same time doesn't seem like he'd consider her to be on "his side" about his conversion.

I do think there is a big difference between parents accepting their child's "unpopular" decision and a sibling doing the same.  While Ezra's sister may not agree with his conversion to Orthodoxy, it doesn't have the same impact on her life as it does to Alan and Beth.

  12. I thought the "session" with the deceased therapist was the best therapy session of the show. Alan made some real strides in his understanding of the family dynamics and how he may have been as responsible for Ezra's defiance as was his wife.

In addition, Ezra too seems to be feeling some regret for how his relationship with his dad has deteriorated, in part due to his decision to join the orthodoxy.  Showing both scenes, one after the other, was very powerful.

Also the wife of Ezra doesn’t cover her hair so that was confusing. Idk I hope they explain the candy scene later.

Ezra's wife wears a wig and they made it look pretty bad so that we would know it was a wig.  At least that's what I am seeing

Regarding the candy, it certainly didn't look like it was Kosher. I thought that the eldest son left the table because he was upset at how desperate and sad his dad looked. It could have been about the fact that Ezra brought the candy in the house but I thought it was more about Ezra himself.

Of course he knows.... that's why he calls her "kiddo." He is letting her know he knows

If he did know then why not track her phone and outgoing calls to find Chase?

And wow, those boardroom pitch scenes had to have been written from some real-life inspirational scenarios by Samantha Riley, Lucia Aniello, and Paul Downs, because the fakeness was so beautifully presented and so gross. All that over-the-top praise and the cloying tones and 90% of it was just empty air, signifying nothing.

I continue to loathe everything to do with Kayla. It just doesn't work for me. It breaks my immersion and feels sitcommy and unreal. She's adorable, it's her personality that's killing me -- she isn't remotely believable as a character for me. And I just feel like she is someone who is low-key victimizing poor Jimmy at this point, and I was embarrassed for him that even quitting the firm will not rid him of this utterly horrible and inept person he can't stand.

The only reason I tolerate Kayla is that Jimmy plays off her so well.  Paul Downs is amazing.  The moment he realized that actually teaming with her was beneficial to him was great.  I could feel his inner turmoil.

Related note: I have to wonder if there is some meaning to Ava being this tired and looking tired "even while asleep" that may pay off further down the road? Since her Mom mentioned it before and now the subletter said the same thing. I hope she's not sick or something. It's not like we're seeing her working too many hours or not sleeping. She just seems really really tired?

I am hoping that no one realized that Ava used the same line twice.

What do you mean by Henry “understanding the tape”?

Henry decided sitting with Claire that the next time he got to have a conversation with his Mom (in the past) he was ask her Claire’s question. Older Henry went back to the past (let’s say 1986 for example), asked his mom the question, and it was on the Q&A. Older Henry knows he does this because 24yrs old him decided to do it, and he has memories of listening to the answer on the tape.

24yrs years old Henry and Claire listened to the tape for the first time together on their second date.  Did 24yrs year old Henry know THAT SPECIFIC TAPE would contain the answer to Claire’s question? No because he hadn’t listened to it yet (which he tells us at the start of the scene), but he wasn’t going to be surprised by it, as he is deciding he is going to ask his Mom Claire’s question, and he knows this tape is of a Q&A of his Mom’s.

24yrs old Henry has spent the majority of his life knowing he was a time traveler- things like that aren’t going to confuse him. As he said in this episode “days are always in a shuffle”(like a shuffled deck of cards).

Time is a loop in this universe- while it looked to the audience that Henry “changed history” with his decision he didn’t, he was always going to ask Claire’s question, it was always going to be recorded on that tape, and they were going to sit together on the second date and Henry was going to decide next time he was in the past to ask him Mom that question, and the loop starts again.

24 yo Henry asked Claire if he wanted to meet his mom and ask her a question.  How did 24 yo Henry know there was a question “from Claire” on the tape if he never heard it before?  Lucky guess? A couple days ago he didn’t even know Claire.

Are we to assume that in that period between dates he traveled and met up with older Henry who told him what happened that night?

I guess that’s the point.  Anything goes.

  17. Something I am confused about. If 24 year old Henry didn’t know Claire before meeting her in the library then how did he understand the tape of his Mom answering Claire’s question posed by older Henry. I would have expected 24 year old Henry to be completely confused.

  18. I thought this episode was great.  Finally, Ava enjoys herself and feels free (only to have Deborah be the buzz kill).

I really think that was the point of the episode, to show that sometimes the person on top (Deborah) gets mashed while the person who has been tortured has her moment of joy.  It didn’t last long and it will reverse but it was nice while it lasted.

I really don’t care for anything Marcus does.  They haven’t done well with his character.

I'm usually a fan of Mandy Moore and I've loved her on this show, but I don't know what that super wide eyed, almost dumb look she was doing last night was all about. It was like she was very much AN ACTOR ACTING all of the sudden, and didn't have the natural effect that her performance usually has. It totally threw me off. Like girl, relax your face a little!

Excellent points.  The episode did a disservice to both Rebecca and Mandy.

Doesn't Ava have a house in LA?

Maybe, but who is to say she has any equity in it.  She is a struggling writer.  Hard to believe she has amassed any wealth.  Plus, Deborah isn’t going to take it from her.

  21. Jimmy adds a lot to the show, similar to what Paul Downs added to Broad City.  He is a really funny guy and his character is great.

The Deborah lawsuit is silly since Ava has no money.  Let he sue all day. She didn’t it just to show Ava that she can forgive her but she is still powerful and almighty.
