Wishlist Thread: "I would like to see these mangoes."

Sorry, but I can’t help you—I gave up on this show years ago. (And apparently so have the mods. It’s a mess in here.) -

After the first two episodes, we still don’t know. Darlene said she is without a partner—avoiding name(s), gender(s), and the parentage of her children. Roseanne (or was it Jackie?) said Becky’s unnamed husband died. Harris’s age has been retconned to high school frosh, and Mark is probably named after his dad, uncle, and/or biological father. The actor who played Mark is dead, so TPTB could either recast the role, make Mark Becky’s dead husband, or have Johnny Galecki play Mark as the father of one or both of Darlene’s kids. Yes, that sounds farfetched—but so is Roseanne saying grace and voting Republican, or Andy being MIA. It would allow Galecki to play a character that’s nothing like Leonard Hofstadter. And Darlene could make a wisecrack about Harris’s height. (Sidebar: I love Emma Kenney on Shameless, and think she’s well-cast here.)

@applecrisp It was “The Evil to Come,” about the 2014 murder of Peggy Nadell in Clarkstown, NY.

Small Talk: About Big People
editorgrrl replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
Dumbledore likes sherbet lemons (hard candy w/ sherbet inside). Dib Dabs are sherbet powder packaged with a lollipop—like Fun Dip, but fizzy. (Fun Dip was originally called Lik-m-Aid, and didn’t have a dipper—one just used a finger. At my school, some kids dipped sandwich bags of Jell-O powder.) -
It’s a derogatory term, like “wanker” or “jagoff” or “jabroni.”

Kenneth Tigar first played Stefan Koepeknie in season 3’s “Werewolf, then reprised the character in season 8’s “Possession.” His characters were usually wacky: a man visited by a Revolutionary War poltergeist named Julius in “The Ghost,” a man claiming to be Jesus Christ in “The Photographer,” and a clairvoyant mugger in “The Psychic.”

Wow, Fatgirlrunning has an entirely different attitude than Whitney’s: -
Only thirteen episodes ventured outside the station: “Ramon,” “Graft,” “The Stakeout,” “Hair,” “The Hero,” “Grand Hotel,” “Fish,” “Wojo’s Girl” part 2, “Contempt” parts 1 & 2, “Chinatown” parts 1 & 2, and “Eviction” parts 1 & 2. The first five were all in season one; “Fish” and “Wojo’s Girl” were backdoor pilots for spinoffs. Also, Max Gail is currently on General Hospital. The characters of Marty Morrison and Darryl Driscoll are problematic, as is Wojo’s homophobia.

Whitney Thore: So She Thinks She Can Dance
editorgrrl replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
If Buddy (Whit's roommate) and Lennie (her ex-boyfriend) both have charges associated with drinking, it's hard to imagine she did not see them in an intoxicated state. That means she accepted/accepts them in that intoxicated state. I don't know of too many people who put up with drunks unless they're also a drunk. So... Is Whitney an alcoholic? Or does she abuse alcohol? And given the high calorie content in alcohol, is alcohol part of her weight problem? Almost a year later, we know @Complexity was right about Buddy’s substance abuse. But what about Whitney? Is she an alcoholic? -
Hired Friends: Whitney's Social Barnacles

Luby Francis “Buddy” Bell is 34. (His dad is also Luby, his mom is Edythe, and his brother Phil is two years younger.) In January 2014, Buddy assaulted a police officer at a Queens of the Stone Age concert in Raleigh, North Carolina. Charged with assaulting a government official, second degree trespassing, resisting a public officer, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct, he was convicted of disorderly conduct, put on probation for 45 days, and fined $380. -

This theory from the “Wishful Sinking” thread is interesting: This show is edited, so Schwartz could have ordered iced tea at El Coyote after the Las Vegas “business trip.” (It was unsweetened ice tea, so maybe dadbod Tom was on a diet? But then he ordered jalapeño poppers, so probably not. And he wasn’t the designated driver; they arrived on scooters.) Tom Sandoval’s 34th birthday was Friday, July 7, 2017; the Vegas trip was (supposedly) July 6–7. Since I’m attempting to establish a timeline, the SUR fire was Monday, June 19, 2017. In other news, Katie said Schwartz was “a great mactor.” According to IMDB, he was a faerie on True Blood in 2011 and an Italian exchange student on Two and a Half Men in 2013.
