Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
KittyMom4 replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
Hahahaha, if only, that still would have been better than the concoction she made! I'm not sure what the hell she did to it but it was watery and had no flavor to it. Quite honestly I think she just threw canned tomatoes and canned tomato sauce in a pot with some salt and pepper and called it pasta sauce. I remember meeting my now ex-husbands's family when I was 21, my mother in law was 100% Italian and made gnocchi and homemade red sauce for dinner, I thought I'd died and went to heaven. The best thing I ever got from that marriage was the recipes for her pasta sauce and homemade meatballs, I make them to this day! -

@peacheslatour, don't feel too bad for me, now that I have learned to cook I have figured out that my mom's palate was pretty lacking. To this day I can't eat pork chops because she would cook them until they were cardboard. She also made what can only be described as the worst pasta sauce known to man. At the time, not knowing anything else it was fine, but now that I have learned what real red sauce should taste like I can't bear the thought of eating hers. -

Are you my long-lost sister?? My mom was the same way, the only thing she would allow me to do in the kitchen was peel potatoes and do the dishes, It took me until my late 40's to even attempt to cook anything that didn't come out of a box because I had no idea what to do. I've actually learned more from Chopped in the last 5 years than I ever did from my mom. And now that she wants to 'pass on her recipes' I don't have the time to spend learning it with her. -

Exactly what was happening at my house. Same here, the trees I had cut down were not 'planted' they were grown where they landed and were not properly trained or trimmed to grow in the right direction. I had one massive tree that was about 6 feet from my front door. When they cut it down the inside was entirely rotted. One big windstorm and it would have landed on the house. I will be replanting a couple new trees next year,, specifically placed where they can do no harm. -

I moved into a house with a yard overtaken by large, sun-blocking trees that were not in good shape, and allowed to grow and overhang the house and the driveway. One of the trees dropped a branch on my newly purchased vehicle causing $1,400 worth damage and the headache of having to borrow a car while it was fixed. Any type of wind or bad weather brought more branches and leaves strewn about the yard. There was hardly any grass, just patches of dirt (or mud if it rained). Forget any flower beds. I notified my neighbor that I would be having all the trees removed as one abuts his property and overhangs his house. He was appalled, "You won't have any shade!" You're house will be unbearably hot in the summer!" I suspect my neighbor enjoyed the shade on his property but if one of those branches went through his roof I'm sure he'd be ready to cash in on my homeowner's insurance! I am having all 5 trees removed as I type this and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to plant some flower beds and enjoy some green green grass! -
Omg, when they showed her in close ups on EoE I would shudder. I remember her season and at the final tribal she wore so much lip gloss she looked like she'd smeared vaseline from her nose to her chin. Yuck. Sorry if this has been answered but did they ever explain why Sophie was sick? From watching the Ponderosa video I wondered if eating all that sugar so quickly did a number on her.

Make that 3 of us! I started watching this show last fall after seeing it on at a bar I was at with my husband. I've been hooked ever since! It will KEAL!!!

@Bastet my basket still had a number of small items, it was a few years ago so I can't say exactly what but it was obvious I would need to put them on the belt. I was shocked when she did it, and to top it off I was in a regular line and she only had a few items so I didn't know why she hadn't gone to an express lane. -

@Yogisbooboo64 I had a woman start putting her items on the belt BEFORE I was finished loading mine at the grocery store! I turned to look at her and she smiled and said "sorry, I thought you were finished." I pointed to my still pretty full grocery cart and said "No, no I'm not." She grabbed her stuff and huffed off to another line. Seriously, what is wrong with people? -

@Sun-Bun Exactly! I go to a Wine & Food Fest ever year, the venue has 5 or 6 narrow aisles with vendors on both sides, and the event is to taste wine and sample food. It becomes ridiculous trying to weave between huge strollers and little kids bobbing along side their parents. Not to mention parents with strollers completely blocking the stall with their strollers while they taste and talk with the vendor so no one else can get close. WTH? You can't get a sitter on a Saturday afternoon for a couple hours???? And there there was the kid that threw up after tasting a few too many pieces of cheese, good god.... Same here @Beany Malone! The point of an evening out was to not have to wipe faces and butts! I think too many people think their spawn is sooo special that everyone one will understand and not be bothered. If you can't afford a sitter, you probably can't afford the event, and you certainly won't be able to afford the legal hassle when you get pulled over for a DUI with a child in the car.... -
Near my workplace there is a trestle bridge that is quite narrow, two lanes, and mere inches between your side view mirror and the stone walls. In the winter when it's dark from 4:00pm until 8:00am, it's like a pit under the trestle, they did install some meager lighting but it doesn't help much. At least once a month there is someone walking or riding a bike under the bridge and you can't see them until your on top of them. Its gotten so I slow down to almost a crawl on the super dark mornings and evenings as I come and go so I have time swerve or brake if I see someone. I pray no one gets hit.

The plaintiff's husband shouting "The pictures are bogus!" made me wish Byrd would go pound his little head into his shoulders. Those pictures were atrocious, it's no wonder the defendant went with someone else. Me too, I didn't know that could happen but my husband, who used to own a construction company, said it's a standard practice when you don't get paid. I hope they get an attorney. I think the missing front tooth said it all, what a hot mess she was, and taking advantage of the plaintiff is probably not the only heinous thing she's done.

You said it well. I specifically mentioned breweries because to me they are "Adult" spaces, the main theme is the beer that they brew, discussion about the beer they brew and those beers being served throughout the day. I have never seen any kid-friendly events at these places, I have never seen a brewery advertise events that would pertain to young children, so why people think dragging there young ones to a place like this is beyond me. Other than what you said, entitlement. -

I like that @theredhead77, I will use that in the future! The wait staff spoke to the children a couple times, and the parents did the "Susy, come sit down!" and then 2 minutes later Suzy was up running around the table again. When my children were small we did not go out a lot, money was tight and we couldn't afford a sitter AND a dinner out, so unless my parents were available we stayed home. Besides, if we did go out, it was to have adult time and not have to entertain the little ones. That doesn't seem to be a mindset these days.... -

I do not understand though, especially when the restaurant is a brewery, or the time of the visit to the restaurant is after 8:00pm. And what's wrong with books? Or, since you're there as a family, having the parents entertain the little ones? If you don't want to be bothered, THEN LEAVE THEM HOME WITH A SITTER! Gah! I once went with another couple to a brewery that served food, with a 7:30pm reservation on a Saturday evening. The table next to us had 6 adults and at least 3-4 children (prob 6-8 year range) who were seated shortly after us. Those children spent most of the evening running around the table, interferring with the wait staff and being loud and disruptive. At least twice my chair was bumped by a child playing 'tag' around their table. None of the adults paid attention. I was not the only customer who was bothered either. I don't want to turn this into "back in my day", I've seen very well-behaved kids and parents who pay attention at many adult-type restaurants and breweries, it just seems that those types are way outnumbered by the bad ones. -

omg yes, a thousand times! I have a friend who sells for MLM seasoning company, one time she posted a pic that literally looked like someone threw up on the plate! I had to hide the post so I didn't keep gagging as I scrolled! Thank god its not just me this happens to!! My daughter uses them and they're fine, we have the same size feet!!! -
Didn't she keep saying she was making $35 an hour?? I was so confused, she kept saying she was working in marketing at "Lanz An"and when JJ finally said "Lands End" I figured out what she meant, but then the whole "entertainment host" or whatever threw me off again. Sounds like she did not complete the application correctly or completely and that's why it was rejected, but that was not the defendants' fault. I think he should have gotten the full amount, even Byrd said it was a custom bike, the plaintiff should have got what he asked for, even if both he and the defendant acted like thugs. I don't think she was laughing at all 33 year olds who live at home, my take was she was making fun of this guy who went from living with family, to buying a car that he didn't make payments on, and then having to move back in with family. In other words, an irresponsible, immature, lazy 33 year old who doesn't want to hold a job, pay his bills or be responsible for his own life.

I agree, I get along well with my husband's ex-wife and he gets along with my ex-husband, neither of us would be comfortable with either of those two living under the same roof as us. I would offer a couple months at an extended stay before I'd ever let them live with me. I don't know what the plaintiff's thinking was but it wasn't a good idea, regardless of the car loan. LOL - it was bizarre watching her pet her wig! This is the best description of poor Marla! My husband said she should have had her 'fall' on the other side, kind of covering that wandering eye, instead she had it on the bald side with 3 inch fake lashes making it even more distracting!!

Me neither, he was totally off during this puzzle. I'm not his biggest fan but I have always respected how good he was at puzzles, and manipulation of other players. Gosh, I was so excited to see her play but I have come to the realization that it was her physical game, and Malcolm, that got her to the finish. That woman has no idea what she's doing!

The only thing I feel sorry for here is that poor dog. Idiot owners should be shot and dogs should be rehomed to responsible, caring owners.

I'm always amused by people who want a Kardashian Wedding on a white-trash budget, I felt for the bride about the cake falling but you get what you pay for. If she wanted a 4-tiered bejeweled wedding cake she should have gone to a bakery that could provide her with EVERYTHING she would need. I give kudos to the defendant for being upfront in saying "yea, that's not in my wheelhouse." but she should have declined to even attempt to stack it unless she provided the correct cake stands to do so. Did you hear the halterview where he said he doesn't date 20 year olds?? He was 60+ with a 13 year old daughter, wth????? My husband caught that as well and was surprised that JJ didn't latch on to that. Those defendants were despicable and nasty. Him and his PTSD service dog excuse which was a load of crap, and her with her sneer and defiant head slant, I wanted to slap them both. If I were those neighbors I would be fencing my pet chickens pretty darn quick because there was no remorse on the other side of that courtroom and I wouldn't be surprised if this happened again.
-
Right??? Neither one of those two seemed to have a brain cell between them, I'm glad no one got anything.
-
Did the plaintiff ever explain why she was upset that the girlfriend was there? Mr. Keps' thought was she thought she and the defendant were going to be 'together' while there. And I am a novice when it comes to Burning Man, but everything I've read makes it sound like a week of free love, music, drugs and alcohol, so I'm not sure why she was worried about the girlfriend being there if it's all supposed to be 'do whatever you want', but maybe I'm wrong about the purpose of the festival?

I'm with you, I prefer white. When I was getting my house ready to go on the market the first thing my Realtor noticed was my all white appliances, he asked if I was leaving them or taking them with me, I said I would be leaving them. He respond "Eh, the new owners will probably replace them with stainless steel ones." WTF. 1. Hell yes to this!!! If you don't leave a message with a reason you need to talk to me then I'm not going to rush to call you back. My mother is forever doing the "Hi Bex, give me a call when you get this!" even after I've told her to please tell me what she is calling about so I can gauge when I will have time to discuss it with her! If it's a 5 min conversation I can call on my break, but if it's going to be a 30 minute dissertation on some random topic I will wait until I get home! 2. Thank god our workplace ladies room has a great ventilation system, they won't let us use air fresheners due to someone's sensitivity to strong scents. -
Me too, that poor thing, that has to be horrifying to have as a memory. I think she was cray-cray all the way. He wasn't much better, but JJ did not trick him, she told him several times he wasn't getting the money and if he wanted the TV he could have it but he kept replying "I want what it's worth." like a stubborn idiot. First of all, if it was broken as he claimed then it wasn't worth anything. Another crazy ass woman who doesn't see anything wrong with her vindictive, insecure, jealous rage behavior. . And if it was true that the post she was referring to when she woke him in his tent was from prior to their relationship then HE'S the idiot for not kicking her to the curb then. Lesson #1 Ladies, if you feel the need to snoop through your guy's phone then this is not the man for you. Lesson #2 Ladies, if your guy lives in a tent down by the river, there is something wrong with you!!!
