Sorry, I've been catching up after being on vacay! These two people definitely deserved each other. She reminded me of a woman I, regretfully, sat next to at a bar one time. She was drunk and bitter about a divorce and ranted about it for quite a while, until the bartender cut her off anyway. There was a lot of that anger in the Plaintiff, something was off. And he seemed like psycho, she's lucky if all he did was throw out some old bikes and slash her tires. I thought the same thing, especially with kids, I've seen it in my neighborhood driving home from work. Kids weaving in and out on the street, earbuds in, not a care in the world. I did think the Plaintiff was an ass for suing him though. Did you hear the halterveiw??? "God doesn't like ugly" WTF with your jacked up teeth and meth-head scrawny body. Shut it. I hope CPS takes those kids sooner than later. The Plaintiff was probably the only stable home they've known in their short lives $4,000???? That's some mattress. The Defendent said it was used and since we only got to see a couple photos I wondered why JJ gave her so much but she might have known more than we were shown. That Plaintiff was D U M B. Glad she didn't get her money back. hahahahahaha! I loved JJ questioning his schooling and him proudly (and stupidly) grinning like a dumbass discussing his 'credits'. Whatever dude. I don't think she was impressed, I felt she was just trying not to piss of any fans who may believe in that quackery.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

It's not just the elderly, I have to deal with this at every wine/food sampling event I go to. There's a big Wine & Food show held in the Northern NY every spring, over a hundred vendors of wine and food. I will always be stuck behind someone who thinks the vendor is just there for him/ her, trying to have an in-depth conversation about the grapes used or some other obscure thing, while the rest of us wait for our turn to take a sample. ARGH! And don't get me started on the parents that bring their double strollers and block an entire booth while they sample! My sister-in-law uses a baby voice to not only talk TO her dog, but to also talk ABOUT her dog. "My wittle poochy-woochy went wee-wee on the cawpet wast night..." WTH? -
Can I sit with you? I've never understood the draw she has.

A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here
KittyMom4 replied to potatoradio's topic in Everything Else
I couldn't agree more, my office has been pretty good about not allowing religious materials of any kind be displayed in the common areas of our building. What you do at your desk is up to you. They also put a ban on allowing employees to place fundraiser items in the common areas because of theft, believe it or not. You have to keep it with your person so the company doesn't have to waste time & manpower watching over your candy bars or trying to find out who took them. -

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

THIS!!! I would think we worked with the same pigs but my building is only 2 floors. Still, the number of times I've seen someone drop a napkin or plasticware on the floor NEXT TO the garbage and not take the time to pick it up infuriates me! We have a day porter (I refuse to call her a cleaning lady or a janitor) who is the nicest lady and the shit she must have to deal with from grown adults with high-paying jobs is ridiculous! Don't get me started on the disgusting things I've seen in the ladies room! When the Chairman of the Board bends over to pick up a leaf/piece of paper/straw wrapper from the carpet to put it in the garbage you'd think the people who work for him might catch a clue, but no. Me neither, there is one guy who walks through our office whistling the entire way. Why? I could understand if he did it while walking into the building but you're in an office building, it's annoying, irritating and rude. It would be like if I decided to break out in song as I walked through the office, and trust me, that would make you poke your eardrums out! Pet Peeve: over dramatic back-to-school-my-baby-is-growing-so-fast parents. In the past 2 days I've listened to at least 3 of my coworkers lamenting to the nth degree about this annual rite as if their children were leaving for college or the military, when they are just entering the next grade up. I'm not heartless, having raised 2 girls and still wondering how my oldest is 29 already, but I don't start hyperventilating, breaking out in tears or feel faint about it. Some people are just a little over the top about their kids growing up I guess. -
I had a 4 year old daughter and was pregnant with my 2nd daughter, due 11/24/94, I wanted her to get the death penalty as well. To this day I can't watch anything about her without a fierce rage boiling up. Such a selfish, cold hearted bitch who could only think of her wants and needs, her and Christopher Watts can rot in hell together. Edited to add: ...and any other parent who feels the need to eliminate his or her wife/husband and children in order to be free to move on to the next "love of your life". Assholes.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
KittyMom4 replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
Same here @Katy M! One was high school classmate (30+ years since I graduated) who would constantly comment on other people's posts about their health (colds, allergies, migraines, etc.) with her natural "healing" advice. She is not a certified homeopathic doctor/advisor and had no schooling in the field whatsoever, yet would 'prescribe' herbs and supplements. One of the supplements she 'prescribed' to a poster concerned about their cholesterol levels was Niacin. I commented that I'd had a very bad reaction to this supplement that included hives and uncomfortable flushing so I advised the poster to discuss all the side effects with her doctor first. It was a while before I realized that my classmate had unfriended me but I'm pretty sure that was the reason. Don't miss her at all. -

@Brookside, this is not aimed at you, it's just my peeve because I see it with famous people so much these days and I don't want my daughters to feel less womanly if this happens. My pet peeve is the belief that you HAVE TO get back to your pre-pregnancy weight in a certain time frame, or at all. I had my first child at 22, I weighed 120 before, I gained 30lbs and I breastfed. Guess what? It took me 3 years to get back to that weight, and then I got pregnant again a year after that, gained 25lbs, and breast fed again, lost some weight over time but never got down to my pre-pregnancy weight again. Who cares? I'm 51 now, I run every day, eat healthy and feel sexier than ever at 145lbs, stop making it about weight ladies! I've unfollowed numerous people for reasons such as over posting about monotonous life happenings, to overtly misogynistic posts to constant sympathy/attention seeking posts. It doesn't mean I don't like those people, I just don't find their posts relevant to my life. So @MikaelaArsenault don't take it personally, maybe your interests aren't their interests, doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. 💜 -

I'm with you. -
I hear ya @funky-rat, I was selling my house earlier this year and had a some furniture that my daughters didn't want but was still in good condition. I listed the age of the items as well as any damage (I have cats, they have claws), and I posted pics so they could see the issues (nothing an upholsterer or crafty person couldn't fix). Imagine my surprise, and annoyance, when the couple that wanted the couch and chair showed up and kind of hummed and hawed saying they didn't realize it was going to be "that" damaged. It's 25 years old, wth?? In the end they took it but then messaged me saying they going to give me a bad rating. Whatever.

@Brookside, same here! There's no sign like that in any of my doctors' offices! It's an unmentioned "suck it up and wait" attitude. Which leads me to the one time I walked out on a doctor, and let the receptionist & nurse know that I would not be returning. When my oldest daughter was an infant, 28 years ago, I was referred to the most arrogant, self-important, judgmental pediatrician known to man. Every appointment was at least a 45 minute wait, and then once I finally got in to see him he would tell me how busy he was and rush through my appointment. One time I left in tears because I had asked a question about weaning my daughter off the breast and he berated me for 10 minutes about what a horrible mother I was for not continuing until she was a year old. She was 6 months and I was going back to working full-time. The next appointment I sat waiting for an hour, I went to the desk only to be told "he'll be with you soon". After another 30 minutes I went to the desk and asked again, the b*tchy receptionist turned to me and said "He will be here when he gets here, he had an emergency out of the building!" As she was saying this the nurse walked up nodding her head in agreement, so I looked at both them and said "You mean to tell me I have been sitting her for 90 minutes and he isn't even in the building, and you didn't feel the need to offer to reschedule?" No response except glares, so I told them forget it, I'm done here, I will be transferring to a new pediatrician who actually has time for his patients, with a staff who understands that everyone's time is important, not just the doctor's. Years later I told this story to an acquaintance and she exclaimed "Was it Dr. So-and-so? And I said "yep!" and she told me she had the exact same experience with him. I was glad to hear it wasn't just me. -
@funky-rat, so true, and the man I'm referring to thinks he is oh so smart when it comes to stuff like craigs list/e-bay, etc, he was bragging about this car and the deal he got for weeks to anyone who would listen and when it was realized that he got scammed suddenly it was "poor me, I didn't realize...." Let's just say it was hard for me to have sympathy #1 because he's a braggart and #2 because the money was barely a dent in his bank account.
-
I beg to differ...one of the high level execs I work with, who was in his mid-60's at the time, purchased a car off Craig's List that was supposed to be some sort of fully restored classic (1950's or 60's) convertible car, He had several texts/emails with the seller and had pictures of the vehicle. It was shipped to him from the south (we are in upstate NY), and upon arrival. lo and behold, the car was not what was described. Needless to say the exec was out a boatload of cash, and had to hire a lawyer to get a judgement that I don't think he ever saw dime of because the "seller" had vanished. Older is not always wiser.

This happens to me all time at gas stations, I practically have to cup my hands around the screen and lean in to see what it's asking. -

I am in a agreement with @BookWoman56, @2727 and @theredhead77 said, if I send an email and get an OOO reply I either go to the person directed or if it can wait, I wait until the recipient returns. I also feel if you are able to get emails on your phone and choose to reply after hours or while you're away, that's on you. I opted to not connect my work emails to my personal phone because I am not salaried and am not required to be available 24/7. I have coworkers, also not salaried, who did opt to get their emails and on occasion will complain about being 'bothered' after hours. It's only a bother if you choose to look at them and/or respond to them. If I am needed after hours, my boss and my coworkers all have my cell phone number and I will answer because if they're calling, it's urgent. -
It gets people to tune in, @Brattinella, and more ads can run and all that jazz. It's like the opening of Capone's vault that was so hyped when Geraldo was opening it on live TV, people tuned in, even though there was really nothing to see.
-
@Brattinella our guy practically starts singing! "Look out, it's gonna snooooooooow on Friday! or "Wear your gulashes, you're gonna be swimmmmmmin'!!" When it's boring weather he always has to put a negative spin on it "Sun's gonna shine, but the pollen is gonna be bad so stay indoors if you can!" "There won't be snow this week, but you better batten down the hatches for next week!" God forbid you just allow us to be happy that the weather is good or at least not horrible.
-
Lol this is so true, one of our local weathermen is such a douche when he is on, he is mister doom and gloom when it's going to be good or normal weather, but if there is even a slight chance of some sort of extreme weather he is practically gleeful while reporting it. It's gotten so I only watch the 24 hour forecast, on mute and then ignore the rest.

@GHScorpiosRule, I feel your pain and would like to add to it "parents who think their comfort trumps their kids safety"! This past holiday weekend we were in a highly visited vacation area in northern NY, my husband and I were seated at an outdoor bar with patio area, which is separate from the outdoor restaurant area. The bar area has all high-top tables with tall chairs accompanying them. The dining area has regular tables and chairs. A couple came in with their two small children and instead of choosing a seat in the dining area, they chose a table in the bar area (you can get food in both areas). I watched as both children almost fell off the high chairs (no armrests) a few times until both parents ended up with a child in their lap while they ate and drank. -
Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

You and me both, to me they look like someone took my grandma's old curtains and made them into a purse. Some of the patterns were pretty but I still wouldn't spend $$$ to purchase one. Wow, I did not know this. -

I'll join your table! I have a coworker is enthralled with name brand stuff, LV, Coach, Vera Bradley*, Versace, you name it, she'll buy it. I struggle with paying such high prices for something that I will eventually ruin as I am not kind to my bags and purses. *She used to carry Vera Bradly laptop bag, tote bag, lunch bag and purse in varying VB (ugly) patterns, it gave me a headache to look at her for too long. -
A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here
KittyMom4 replied to potatoradio's topic in Everything Else
My annoyance today, and for the rest of summer, is with that one coworker who thinks that because its beautiful outside and they own a boat they should get to leave early because "gotta get out there while it's nice out!" Hey, it's your vacation time, do what you want, but don't then expect me to cover your work when you get behind.
