Also, they need to get him bigger shirts to wear. It looked like he'd gained some weight but was wearing clothes from earlier.

OMG, yes!  I was thinking this for more than just Glasses.  Many of them looked like their shirts were ridiculously tight.  I am sure those head masks with the belts around their waists contribute to pulling things a bit tighter, but I kept wondering how he got his shirts on and off.  Since his storylines are usually ordinary, I was looking at the scenery and anything but paying attention.  I kept thinking people must be helping him dress.

  2. DeLuca dying sucks.  I really liked him. However, DeLuca was barefoot initially on the beach, then he had shoes when building the sandcastle. Why the change?

I'm getting sick of the beach, it seems to just drag on.  How many episodes now? How many more do we have to watch?

I agree with someone above, Jackson and Maggie's boyfriend were selfish, they should have asked to hold Scout.  Especially Maggie's boyfriend, he even took the time to tell Link to keep moving.

Teddy and Tom, I can't believe she said she didn't love him.  There was no way Owen was going to choose her once she betrayed him with Tom.

How sweet was Zola?  We can't tell Bailey and Ellis, they are too young to understand.

McIrish and Jo, bonding over the baby.  She is so going to try to adopt Luna.

  3. After last week, I was so hopeful.  This one was just so slow.

I find it so bizarre that they knew of and identified a distribution company that has no internet presence and it was unknown.

Rowntree's covertness entertained me.  He has yet to learn subtle.  I can not believe he wasn't spotted.

I almost yelled at the screen, "Abandon Joelle!" except it is 4:42 am here and I would wake the kids.  Seriously, when can be rid of her?  When did Joelle become innocent?  She's a menace to society, or at least to Callen and the team.

Did anyone else expect some comment about the handcuffs?  The look on Anna's face was priceless.  I was so looking foward to a convesation with Arkady or at least the interview with Anna, to end with Joelle's finger was a disappointment.

  4. Well, that was interesting and a little unexpected in terms of the ending, here I was hoping to see a cameo of Arkady with a little bit of Arkady crazy and some random explanation of where Anna was, not that.  Having watched 12 years of NCIS LA, I hate to say it, but this seems to be shouting one of Hetty's schemes more than ever.

Deeks, his hair looks ridiculous, however, it still looks infinitely better than it did when it was longer.  I still think he is covering up the beginnings of going bald.  That outfit Kirkin had him wear at the end was worse than his hair.  I can not believe they "trust" Kirkin.  This is the same guy who double crossed Callen over a painting worth millions and just about ruined Kensi and Deeks' wedding.

I miss Nell and Eric in ops.  Not recent Nell and Eric, Nell and Eric of at least 5 seasons ago, if not earlier.  Fatima is in and out, I found the ops 2 kept everything well linked, now things always seem disjointed.  I get the Covid current world and the fact that both actors are pursuing other creative outlets right now too, but the show is suffering, I know that poor writing/lack of decent storylines isn't helping either.  Everything seems slow-motioned of late.

Haven't watched for awhile but Deeks' hair is a catastrophe.  I don't know if the actor is going bald and they are "styling" his hair to cover it up, but at this point, just give him a hairpiece of some kind.

I've been thinking this for a while, the going bald bit.  My guess is ECO is in denial about it and the show is helping him out.

Why do I feel they have run out of storyline ideas?  Yet another member of Sam's family missing or under attack, therefore, Sam goes rogue.  Predictable much?

There seems to be no direction anymore.  The storylines are boring and non-descript.  The only storyline with potential was the guy who got out of jail by pardon and threatened Kensi.  And then nothing comes from it, so far.  I get COVID has effected the number of people in the same place for filming, but seriously, it seems like NCIS LA have decided no more than 3 people together.  This just makes everything seem more disjointed.  There have been no scenes with the team together, which makes it feel like they aren't working together, which makes it feel to me like it isn't working anymore. I miss the banter between Callen and Sam and Kensi and Deeks.  The first two are pretty much non-existent these days and all the second two talk about is babies.  Did Deeks actually sell the bar?  I know he was talking about it.  The episodes have been so boring I have no enthusiasm to go back and rewatch them to check.

I never thought I would say this, but I miss Nell and Eric together. He and Fatima annoy me even more than later episodes of Nell and Eric.

Random observation, does CO'D look fitter than he has of late?

  6. Sabatino's hair was special. I haven't really liked him before, but he was good for the most part.

Deeks at FLETC was pathetic, seriously, who would let anyone behave that way and let them stay?  Did he have another hair cut?

Happy to see Sam and Callen back together.  That at least felt right.

How convenient the phone was outside and they didn't need to break in.  Why would someone in protective custody have access to a phone?  Isn't that just plain stupid?

I have to say, I think this was the best episode of the season so far, even with Deeks carrying on at FLETC.  Not that there has been much to compare it to, however, I at least could watch this episode again.  There were some one-liners that were actually funny.  There was no Nell in crazy dresses pretending to be Hetty, no porn-star Eric pretending to be a Shakespearean actor (thank God) and my one major flaw was no one was in ops at the end to co-ordinate everything, there were small flaws, but I can live with them.

If someone just provided you some valuable information you couldn't get anywhere else, why would you turn around and kill them? You just wasted a potentially valuable source of future intel since it was established that he had files on other high value targets. Either Covid has killed all the competent Chinese spies, or the writers overstuffed this episode with so much personal story crap that they forgot they needed to establish a motive for the murder.

This episode was so memorable, I don't remember someone getting killed 😞  and it was so poor, I don't even want to rewatch it to clarify.

I see the end is nigh for NCIS LA, just hanging in there as I have been there from the beginning and my OCD of seeing it all is not allowing me to walk away now.

  8. Oh Wow, it's hitting an all time low. All 7 seasons of the Gilmore Girls were better than this one.  Even the episodes where Lorelei got with Christopher and wasn't with Luke!  Eric's mustache looks absolutely stupid and I don't think a single line he said was even relevant to the episode. Are they trying to make Eric sound like he belongs on stage speaking only in a Shakespearean tongue? He sounds like a stupid whack-job.

The lack of face to face working time for the team is driving me nuts.  Did anything actually happen in this episode?

The wardrobe department needs a lot of work.  Deeks looks amazing, from the shoulders down, I wish she said he needed to tidy up more though, but the rest, wow.  Nell looked semi-decent last episode, but this week we were back to frump central.  Callen looked like he was going fishing, and has for a while now.  Roundtree looked even more unprofessional that Deeks does usually with a hoodie under a coat and Fatima, I don't know what to say about her outfit.

Deeks' interview, seemed really strange for him. humble, yes, and very short.

Nell sounds so panicky when she gives Hetty-style orders.

I remember that.  IIRC, Jo and Alex were on a break, and somehow Alex found out.  Instead of getting mad, he busted out laughing.  😂

Yep, Alex thought it was hilarious.  It was even at the coffee cart.  Others saw it too.  The inappropriate sex route is something that frequently happens on Grey's.

  10. Finally got to watch this episode.

Sam telling Callen he needs to ask for permission to come aboard was priceless and I loved seeing Otis.  It was good to see Cam.  I miss the Callen and Sam banter.

I used to love Kensi and Deeks, but they are all doom and gloom these days. The continual slightly witty banter is missing. It did pick up a little at the end, but they are quite flat.  With Deeks going to FLETC, please make them cut his hair and shave!  This will mean that Deeks will be out of the picture more (evidently for ECO to spend more time with his family), but that will mean that there is more opportunity for the bad guy (can't remember his name) from episode 5 to hunt Kensi down when she is more vulnerable.

Nell had a surprisingly decent dress on and I loved the touch of the Christmas tree brooch a la Hetty. However, Beale looked bloody ridiculous! That mustache looked absolutely stupid. Even his clothes were wrong for Eric. Pants, shoes, no flip flops or casual shoes?  The riding in on the uni-cycle thing was typical Eric.  I kept expecting him to fall off though.  Deeks was very restrained talking to Beale when he was talking about his ending homelessness.

The no masks at the hospital, or anywhere, really was strange, considering they admitted it was still 2020.  Not being in the US (Australia here, where no COVID has reached, thankfully). so the reality in my area is extremely different to the pandemic in the US.  We are only encouraged to socially distance and be hygienically aware.  After watching Grey's Anatomy, and seeing how they kit out in the hospital, the hospital and the clinic they all visited were so 2019.  It was very novel the bad guys had masks on.  Loved that Callen's foster brother took the 3rd bad guy down with the oxygen tank, it was good 🙂

I really liked seeing Callen with his foster brother Ray.  I love Callen back stories.

I still maintain I want Sam with De Champs.  I don't like Catherine that much.

  11. Ok, I watched a very dodgy Youtube version as I am away from home with no way of seeing it.

I loved the Meredith/Tom bits, it was almost as if there was some normalcy, just two people talking and although it was serious, it seemed nice.

DeLuca was very caring with Bailey.  I like him (the character) when they don't try to force a pairing with him.  Both with Maggie and Meredith just felt wrong.  I kept seeing Bailey regress back into her OCD ways, but she hasn't so far.

I may have glossed over the Teddy/Owen scenes and the Teddy/Richard scenes.  I will rewatch them when I have a better version.  Teddy is another whom I like better single.  If I have to choose a partner for her, I liked her best with her dead husband, the one she married to give him insurance, or Tom.  Her and Owen just seem wrong to me.  I liked him best with Cristina, but that won't happen, Sandra Oh is happy in Killing Eve, she's not coming back to be second to Ellen Pompeo.

Maggie and her man, yes, they should have been wearing facial coverings and quarantining, but both have been through so much, I get the need for comfort from each other.  Maybe they will quarantine together?

I missed Linc, and I can't understand why Amelia is at the hospital and not at home with the baby.  I know it is for the storylines, but if I was a doctor and had a newborn at home, I wouldn't want to risk bringing anything into my home.  Nor would I want to be parted from my baby.  The Linc's Daycare idea is awesome, btw!

It was good to get flashes of Jo and Jackson and NOT together (unless my youtube version skipped them 😉 ), they certainly don't belong together.  Has Jo decided she wants to join the Gyn-ie squad and wear the dreaded pink scrubs?  I really need to rewatch the last episode, I know she delivered a baby and loved the joy of it all.

It was sweet to see Helm doting over Meredith at the end, she has stayed devoted to her throughout, despite not having a chance.

I thought when we saw Dr Irish, we would see him with Meredith at some stage, but he just dealt with the trafficked girls with Avery and had a very minor part.  In terms of the trafficked girls, DeLuca and his sister at the end were good.  Hopefully they catch the red-headed lady.

  12. This episode was distinctly better than the one immediately before it.  I am looking forward to seeing how it pans out.  It fit for the characters to be in different places, and it gives the writers time to work out what is happening with Deeks and LAPD and NCIS LA.  It also keeps him linked with NCIS LA too.

  13. I found this episode really hard to engage with, so much so, I went an did the dishes.

The Sam/Callen dynamic seems to work, where ever they are, The rest all seems so Blah.

I thought Deeks was pulled out of the office of Special Projects by LAPD, I thought he still worked for them?  I expected to see him back at the dog patrol, yet, he seems to be spouting, "woe is me, I have no job."

Still trying to watch, I do have more dishes to finish :)

  14. So excited to have George back, I wonder if there are more beach meetings next week?  Maybe Meredith will see Koracick?  That character had so much potential, they just painted him into a corner pairing him with a pregnant Teddy.

I too, loved the 4 of them sitting on the log at the end.  I was a bit miffed at the sitting on the wet sand, leaning up against the rocks, especially if the water and the sand isn't "real", but just the dynamic between Meredith and George was brilliant, it was like going back and watching the first 4 seasons with the original cast.  They gelled, but I guess it had a lot to do with them all being at the same place in life, out of university, starting internships then residences.  Now, as we are 17 seasons on, even if it isn't 17 years IRL, we have characters at all different places, we've got the interns, the residents, the fellows, etc, and people are having babies, "unemotional" sex (totally not a great pairing in my eyes) and that original dynamic is missing.  Maybe because there isn't an 'evil spawn' who is hot to look at, but has the softer side underneath?  No totally driven Cristina, who finds a soulmate in Meredith, no George, who holds everyone together and the ever optimistic Izzy.  And Bailey, no-nonsense, I don't want to feel for you, I am your resident, who used to make me laugh out loud with her quips back at the interns.  *sigh* I need to watch the first 3 or so seasons again, before Izzy got cancer and George died. Random ramblings over until I think of other things later 🙂

  15. I really think the writers should have addressed Corona Virus.  Everything seems so off.  I am going to have to watch previous seasons.  Banter between characters is what is missing. Did they have background music in other seasons, or strictly relied on banter, because it all seems so silent, which is bizarre when watching and therefore everything is SLOW!

In terms of the episode, yeah, it was ordinary.  They did have some action and that was a bonus.

My first thought was her mother too, because she has so many unresolved issues with her mother.  I don't remember a closure scene with her mother.  But, you know, after 17 years, I'm sure there's at least 11 years worth of stuff I don't remember.    So my second pic would be George because I don't want Alex or Izzy or Lexi.  I'd take a Mark sighting though.

Ooh! A Mark sighting would be cool, I was hoping Lexie.  Then I thought the 4 she saw in her drowning vision in season 3 - Denny, the bomb squad guy, her Mum's old scrub nurse  and the woman who kept bleeding out.

Quite frankly it would make so much more sense if it did. I don't mind losing the escapism factor. And it would make this seem so much less choppy.

nope, but they need to, it is just so bizarre the way it is.

Where is Barrett Foa?  Did I miss them explaining his absence?

Surely, they could have given us another Hetty update?

I am really in the minority here...but I loved, loved, LOVED Teddy and Koracick together when she was pregnant. He was so funny, snappy and happy. I wish she would see that they were actually lively together and he would love her kid. I think he and McWidow are actors who can really deliver so much in between their lines. I don't hate Owen, actually like him, but he is so rigid. I actually liked him more than Christina during their relationship. Okay, all cards on the table....I have always liked Jo and liked Delucca. I am finally beginning to kind of like Meridith. I got into watching Grey's because of TWOP and their section called Dear Shonda...what gold. I laughed so hard, that I thought I should watch this show. So I binged on YouTube pirated videos through 3 seasons.

I loved Teddy and Koracick together too, I just hated the cheating on Owen. Jo with Deluca would work for me.  I always saw Owen with April after Jackson and April broke up, but she went back to the paramedic and left.

It's very hard to keep track of the timelines on this show.

I kept trying to makes sense of DeLuca's mental crash. What was the intervention for? I just didn't get it but I also didn't care all that much. I did like that he got some vindication for calling the trafficking situation. He deserved that win. Also, can we please send Caterina away? I'm reaching I'm reaching a level of annoyance with her on par with Minnick or Penny.

Linc and Amelia are cute together. I was a little startled by the scene of them in bed together. I'm assuming that was shot before COVID because I thought love scenes were off the table now.

I know some people don't like the covid stories but this is the reality we live in now and for the foreseeable future. I felt like the first episode was just a giant public service announcement to show people how bad things are and given where we are right now it's necessary. Maybe it will make some people take this seriously.

I found it hard to keep up with too.  I guess this was the writers/producers (or whomever) way of fitting in all the already created scenes at the end of  last season that were canned because of the Covid shut down.  I think it would have been easier if they just played them in order, rather than jumping around like a lunatic.

The Deluca story line - while I expect relapes, they did address the fact that he needed sleep to regulate his behaviour, etc.  I liked seeing him as not a resident.  It would have been nice to know whether he was a fellow or an attending and his specialty.  I think in the jumping around someone forgot to mention this.

I did like how they introduced Maggie's relationship, it worked well with the Covid story line and if the relationship works, maybe the new guy will transfer to Grey Sloan.  The tent at the end was odd though.

Linc and Amelia were cool though.  Not sure what I think of the baby's name, though.  I would have thought they would have gotten their own place as opposed to moving into Meredith's house.

Teddy's been written into a corner, maybe it is time to head off to Germany again for her?  Koracick (Sp?) was bumbling but entertaining last season. I don't know how I feel about him this.  Poor Owen, he was just grieving what he had lost.

I really get annoyed when Catherine is on.  I find her domineering and over the top most of the time.  The yelling with Maggie was insane.  After that, I may have skipped her scenes, so I missed the firing of Koracick etc.  Richard seemed to be out of place.  You could tell they were social distancing him a lot.  But at the same time, following his recovery was just as difficult as Deluca's recovery.  It was so disjointed with the jumping back and forwards.  Not to mention the nowhere in his story line in the past about getting that hip replacement in Boston.  ETA - chief of chiefs?  Why not Chief of Hospital?

Meredith seemed overworked and overwhelmed with everything.  Going from her old status quo of surgeries and talking to patients families and giving them good news to dealing with Covid and the constant bad news, along with not seeing her family, seemed to be taking its toll on her.  I genuinely hope that the collapse (or hit by Owen, but I doubt it) in the carpark was more exhaustion, but as others say, seeing dead people on Gray's is a bad omen.  I was hoping when they were hinting at a surprise return over the break that it would be a guest appearance from Cristina, then she could be there for Owen too and there could be some interesting 3 way discussions with Owen and Teddy, not to mention a lead in to setting Meredith up with the new Dr Hayes.  Seeing Derek, although cool, now has me thinking Meredith is more than just Covid sick, I am hoping not. Having Hayes find her may lead to something. Meredith with Deluca was just a bit off for me.  I liked her more with Riggs, here's hoping Hayes works out because I can't see Derek being back from the "dead" for too long, although I did like the idea that the collapse in the carpark was 5 years ago and the last 5 years was Meredith's dream.  🙂 so unlikely though.

Looking forward to next week being less disjointed and much easier to follow with potentially only Meredith and Derek flash backs and not all over the place like these 2 episodes.

  20. Random thoughts, in no particular order:

    Nell's dress is beyond gross.

Deeks' multiple personality schtick is nuts.

How did the Russian people on the plane not shoot at Sam when he followed the footprints?

Why did Callan ask if anyone spoke English on the plane when he speaks fluent Russian?

Did anyone else find it disjointed?  The whole "social distancing" issue seems to have made the episode just seem off.

  21. Why couldn't all of the episodes this season been that good?  No constant carry on rubbish about Kensi and Deeks having kids or too much of Sam picking on Callen about putting down roots with Anna.  Not even a single reference to the ridiculous Catherine and no alluding to Hetty pulling strings when in all reality, she isn't there.  Above all, Beale was actually almost normal again and no whingeing Fatima.

I did find it odd when they secured Ops, Beale and Fatima had to leave.  In the past, Beale and Nell would remain, or at least Hetty and/or Grainger did.  It was strange to initially see just Callen and Sam talking to Mac and then they decided who was read in.  They really seem to be passing the leadership over to them, from Hetty, but without Hetty being there.  They are both getting old though, and realistically, need to be transitioning out of the full-on action role.

I like the guy who was in last season's finale.  He seems to compliment the team too.  Rountree is so joining the cast for next year, even if it is in a lower role, however, the writers have thrown him in the deep end.  First being yanked out of a car by Sam jumping off a bridge, then being held at gunpoint by revengeful Afghanis.

  22. 6 hours ago, ymeagain said:

Nate was, I think, supposed to be in the finale (which according to Dani's IG is a cliffhanger). I also think it involved Anna, Arkady, and probably Katya. I'm hoping they get renewed just because I'd love to see all those characters back (not Katya so much). I agree Nate could run OSP. I love his character, and if he does come back--even for a guest spot--I need to see him have a session with Callen (the guy needs to let it all out).

I'm not sure about Roundtree yet, but Fatima is REALLY starting to tick me off. OMG, stop your bitching! She sounds like some rich brat.

I think ECO has so many projects going on (Dani's IG again), that he's probably AWOL from the set a lot, and it shows, If he's not interested in being fulltime in the show, just put him in the bar. It would be easier to find Kensi a permanent partner who'll be there regularly. I'd miss him like I do Hetty, but it doesn't seem fair to screw up the partners and the show.

I would love to see Callen take Finn under his wing and train him. What makes Sam think he's the only agent fit to train a new recruit? TBH, I'm not really liking Sam since he met Katherine; he doesn't seem like the guy who was married to the badass, down-to-earth Michelle (loved her).

This was a boring episode for me. I think the "humor" sucked and the comedienne was a bust. And again, the plot. Why would a tech operator be going on an undercover mission against a drug lord? What was she going to do, plant a virus in his laptop? And it sounded like her first undercover. Just as lame as Roundtree's assignment. No agency is putting rookies in the field on such dangerous assignments. And it took over 30 minutes to find out what the title and the case was all about--abused women. The ep in S8, "Queen's Gambit," was way better dealing with a similar theme.

The next episode looks better, but I'm tired of SEALS and the whole "How does Sam feel about going after one of his own" shtick. Sam hasn't been a SEAL for over a decade. If he has a problem investigating SEALS, he shouldn't have joined NCIS; he could've joined the Army CID.

At the moment, I don't see them as being OSP, I was under the impression that implied they used undercover means to solve cases, haven't seen a decent undercover op in a while.

I really hope next weeks episode is not a fizzer like the last 2, then who knows what will happen?

Fatima is whingy.  I wonder if it is the "dealing with being kidnapped etc" so early in her career?  Kensi was a fair way into her career before Afghanistan happened, she was an agent for at least 5+ years, so had seen and coped with a lot before that.  Deeks had been through plenty before the Season 4 cliffhanger/Season 5 opener and heavens knows what Sam had been through as a Seal, before becoming an agent, but many of these things happened when they were at a mature point in their careers and they had more life experiences and perspective.  I am not touching on Callen, any other person who had that many "issues" would be curled up in a corner rocking and humming, not functioning like he does.

I didn't mind the Roundtree character.  I think he could grow on me, but then I said something similar about Fatima and she irks me so much right now.

I miss Beale having someone to talk to in ops.  Deeks in there with him is just boring.  He and Nell had chemistry, even right from when the Nell character arrived, they clicked.  Deeks spends too much time analysing him, which is what Nate could do.

Nate needs to come in and shut OSP down and get into their heads.  Sam is coming across as mean to Callen right now, and I don't like him with Catherine either.

  23. That episode seemed slightly less meh than last weeks.  With no Nell, the Deeks/Beale pairing just doesn't seem to work, and I much prefer him with Kensi.

I really hate the Hetty will kill us references when she isn't in the episode.  These people are adults, the majority have been in the job for over 10 years, Hetty doesn't need to be micro managing them for that reason.  They don't need to be saying things like this, just to make it seem like she is still around.

I am not sure where I read it, (probably on the NCIS LA facebook page) but someone suggested Nate would be a good person to be running ops.  I actually like that idea.  He knows the team well and knows their capabilities and their back stories.  It would reintroduce a decent character who isn't going to come in with the idea to "break up the team" yet again.  However, if everyone else has other things on the backburner, in real life, there may be the need for the newer characters to train (Roundtree and Fatama - who is starting to annoy me) and maybe they could go back to actual undercover ops and not just solve cases like other CSI-type programs.  I miss the undercover, take over a new persona, aspects of the first 5-6 seasons.

I really thought at the beginning of this episode, they were alluding to the missing guy being the new Callen (they guy who could take on any role and was the master of disguise), something Callen hadn't been for a very long time.  But it didn't eventuate.  Very disappointing.

  24. This was a "Meh" kind of episode, and then I read Jordana wrote it and it explains a lot!  Her episodes are crap.  There is no other word for it.  I agree with the above comments, Sam has been pushing for something to happen and for Callen to settle down, and to just ignore it and not want to hear about it is absurd.  Why don't they get rid of her?

This episode seemed to feel like yet another filler, it had no rhyme or reason to it either.  Let's hope the next one is better, but it seems that Deeks is still out of action as it had Kensi and Fatima teamed together again.
