  1. YES. Harriet was a horrible person many times, but it was amazing how everyone acted like it was so wrong of her to want the store to make a profit, or for them to be paid for what they spent, including the confederate money episode. Her creditors were coming after her, did everyone just think that she should have said, "Oh well, please foreclose on my home/store to pay for all of CHARLES INGALLS' stuff"?
  2. I have to say, boring as he was, I'll take Jeb's blandness over James' active annoyingness. I wanted to smack him every time he was on screen. And both the Carter parents were useless.

Niles had the best reactions. I liked the episode where Bebe and Frasier sleep together, and she answers the door to Niles wearing one of Frasier's shirts and announcing they're all "sitting down to a family breakfast," and Niles doesn't change expression, just reaches over and rings the doorbell again.
  4. I need to read that, too! I've always had a soft spot for her because she reminds me of my mom.

"I'll just add that to my list of reasons to die" is one of my favorites. And sometimes I randomly say to my husband, "And you should know how to catch a banana!"
  6. Harriet was so unbelievably awful in that episode. I know there are probably times she was worse, but that one always got to me. First buying Nellie a stupidly expensive horse that none of them were going to take care of, and then after Laura tired out Bunny the morning of the race in order to go get Doc Baker because HARRIET'S SON was sick, Harriet refused to reschedule the race and tried to claim Laura forfeited. I just saw that one recently, which is why it's so fresh in my head. She just seemed so mean, for no reason other than the sake of being mean.
  7. Hersha might have been closer to the book Ma, who was pretty stern and serious a lot of the time. But Karen Grassle was the Ma that everyone loved. I watched the Luke Simms episode, and randomly thought about how much fun it would have been to see the scene where Nellie casually drops into a conversation with Percival that she was married to a pig farmer for about half an hour once.
  8. I was watching Mary Is a Big Fat Loser at the State Math Competition. Did we all know that Vera from Alice is the lady who checks Mary in to the contest???
  9. It was just ridiculous that they never added on to the house.I mean, he built the entire house in three weeks, seems like he could have slapped on addition pretty easily. They were planning to do that when Granddad came to live with them, and he asked Charles to hold off. Seems like at some point Caroline would have said "no more orphans until we get another room or three!" During the last few seasons, after Mr. Hanson died, didn't Charles and Jonathan run the lumber mill together?
  10. I wonder if it was related to the fact that Harriet told her that they bought Nellie the restaurant so that she could get a husband, which might have changed her self-perception, too. Her mom had always acted like Nellie was the queen of everything, so to have Harriet admit that maybe Nellie needed something this big and expensive to get a man could have been a blow to her.
  11. Most episodes that I can't watch are because they're stupid, but that Daniel episode is one that I can't watch because it's so cringey.
  12. And Matthew Perry's dad. He also plays one of the James brothers in the episode where they kidnap Mary, I think.
  13. I can hear Jenny (Jinny!) in my head happily announcing, "You're not a wild boy, you're just a mute!" in my head, and it's making me cringe. Thankfully both she and Laura had the amazing gift of being able to both learn and teach sign language in approximately 3 1/2 minutes, probably from the huge variety of books on the subject at the mercantile.
  14. I watched the Laura and Almanzo get married 2 parter yesterday. Funny how Almanzo insisted on putting off the wedding because they didn't have their own house (saying it might take a year), but in the previous episode he was insisting they get married the next month. Where did he propose they were going to live then? Also, I will go to my grave with rage against Harv Miller.
  15. That's because we Hester Sues don't have time to ponder questions all day, we have tables waiting for coffee refills, and bad dating decisions to make!
  16. Just wait until the quiz identifies Mary and Laura, and then you'll have help!
  17. Here is a helpful quiz in case you've ever wondered what LH character you are! https://littlehouseontheprairie.com/which-little-house-on-the-prairie-character-are-you/ I am Hester Sue, and I'm okay with that.
  18. I had no idea either! And I am not trying to be snarky, but I got completely distracted by the inclusion of how he was "sitting in the van, playing his bagpipes." What?
  19. Same, I love the show. I think it's a sign of how much we love it that we've watched the episodes enough times to notice all these things!
  20. Charles when doctors say Albert is going to die: *grabs Laura by the shoulders and shakes her until she says "My brother is going to die!" Charles when doctors say James is going to die: *yells a lot, grows a manly beard, builds a phallic monument, talks to hallucinations*

I recently watched Agents in America III, the one where Bebe goes out on the ledge so Frasier can talk her down while they're renegotiating his contract, and I am wondering if they *actually* slept together, or if Bebe just pretended they did because Frasier was too drunk to remember. He wakes up alone on the couch not knowing what happened the night before.
  22. So much pissiness in Days of Sunshine! Laura's hissy fit was a little over the top, but it was also pretty crappy of her family not to tell her her house had been destroyed. Recurring theme that drives me nuts on this show: "Oh, let's not tell the person whose life this affects, because we know better! Mary doesn't need to know she's going blind." And Stone Soup was ridiculous. Ma had 687 kids at that house, and I refuse to believe that she wouldn't have insisted that they spend some of their time helping at Laura's house, or that James and Albert wouldn't have decided that on their own.
  23. Yes! Remember how they framed a whole episode earlier in the season about Laura having to go apologize for the cinnamon chicken prank, and this seems way worse to me and her parents just laughed it off.

How is it that every person Frasier ever encounters recognizes him from the radio, sometimes even without hearing his name or voice? 😄 ("Dr. Crane? From the radio?") I mean, I was alive in the 90s, and couldn't have identified any of the people from the radio shows I liked!
