I was wondering if it might be at the root of the mule kick technique in the first place.

What did you think about her programs from last year, carrier? I thought they were charming and made me really warm to her. This year's numbers are much more beige. The LP was done by Galindo, so I'm a bit surprised that it's a miss. I don't know who was the creator of the SP.

S05.E09: A Moorland Holiday (Christmas Special)

I know! That was just awesome. LOL funny. -
Ah, I see. Thanks, GQJ. You really are the Queen of the figure skating forum.

The men's event was great; the ladies ... meh. Although I'm happy for Polina, I don't like her programs this year. Anyone know why she's not working with Klimova anymore? I thought her programs last year were charming. It's so weird that the winning pair that's dominating the season is like the fifth best pair in the world. I really enjoyed all three Chinese pairs at the 4CCs, although I had the following question and comments about Sui/Han: 1) Sui really looks like Michelle Kwan's skating double; same body type, same knee action; 2) powder blue with fluttery blue hair ribbons made weird costuming for the darkly dramatic Tchaikovsky of their long. Question for our experts (Good Queen Jane, are you around?): what happened with their pair spin? Why did they get no points for it? I couldn't see anything obvious like a foot coming down that shouldn't.

I'm just catching up on this season now, but ... OMG, I did not recognize her from The Lunchbox. She looked familiar, but here she's like The Lunchbox woman's terrifying sister.

Is it the "bold/delicate" contradiction that does you in or the single subject/plural verb, stopeslite? Or both?

Get outta my head, Ohwell! I've remarked on many occasions that Murray's serve grunt sounds just like (the much-missed) Elena Dementieva. But it doesn't annoy me as much as it amuses me. And I remarked on another tennis board that Venus's dress, while a nice fabric and color, is cut perfectly for the geriatric tennis gal. Is it possible V was thinking of selling tons of them to the over 60 set?

That was a delightful match. I thought the Taiwanese woman, Hsieh, was amazing with her lobs and disguise. The announcers called her a female Santoro, and they weren't far off. As for the singles, blech. Four finalists I don't like and, worse, don't care about. Well, it's still been a fun almost-two weeks.

That's totally where my mind went too, toodles.

Well, Maria's record against Serena is almost in Berdych-Nadal territory: Serena has won the last 15 times! The last time Maria won was over ten years ago. And the last time they played in the final of a major was the French in 2013. So ... does that make it more exciting, wondering if Maria can break the streak, or more ho-hum because it will likely be one-sided?

Thanks, shok. I had read about the comments to the fans, but I had missed these nuggets.
-
I hadn't realized that, shok. I was aware that his style offended some, and that he was prone to audible expletives on court, but I didn't realize that he was being a jerk to his opponents. What happened?
-
But I think he was injured. He wasn't even going for a lot of balls he would at least have tried for normally. That said, congratulations to Berdych for holding on and getting it done.

I'm binge watching this season on YouTube (I'm in the US), but this episode isn't available. There's a video that's called Season 2 Episode 6, but it's actually a reunion episode that's VERY spoilery. Can anyone suggest where a Yank might watch this episode?

Am I remembering correctly that Tara had a wee DK?

I really hope Hanyu can regain his form (and health, if that is still an issue) because I would love to see that beautiful Chopin short program skated well. He seems to have a whole new sense of line, elegance and power of expression with that one. I thought he would be eternally an extremely talented floppy puppy and am glad to be proven wrong.

There's been something about Katsuji that keeps jogging my memory. I thought it was just that I had seen him on Chopped, but I just realized that he reminds me of Raul Julia around the eyes and in the sound of his voice.

That was a great dance! A grown-up, sexy rumba with fabulous hip action.

I'm confused. Did they leave us with a cliffhanger for the Sudden Death Tease or did my DVR just cut off early, because I never saw the conclusion. When I went to the website the video seemed to cut off at the same point. I was assuming they'd tell us who lost the relay but not how the ensuing cook-off came out. I know. Ugh. Do they really think the viewing audience likes him? Can he possibly do well with focus groups? Or is this some tyrant's (Colicchio?) exceedingly bad taste?

I'm a Yankees fan of fairly recent vintage (My Yankee fandom, that is. I'm super old.), but I've never warmed to Jeter, as much as I enjoy his play and his hotness. However, last night changed that. He allowed himself to be so much less guarded in his commentary that I could begin to see why so many people love him. It's too bad he had to be so very politic and neutral as a public persona, thereby depriving us of getting to know such a charming, warm personality. I mean, I understand why he chose that route, but it's still a shame. It was a really wonderful night that, against all odds, managed to surpass all the OTT hype. (A small thank you to the level-headed, avuncular Kenny Singleton for providing low key commentary.) I was so charmed by the stories of Jeter losing his batting glove, forgetting one of his elbow guards and having to go into the bathroom to cry when he wasn't on the field. Awwww.

Thanks for posting that adorable ad, shok. Both his face and his voice have cartoon character qualities. This ad is great, but it still doesn't compare to that hilarious series he did with Pau Gasol for some watch company. I don't speak a word of Spanish, and the last time I saw them on YouTube they had no subtitles, but they were a scream.

S19.E01: Week 1: Performance & Judging
Harry24 replied to radishcake's topic in Dancing With The Stars
This explains my reaction to her perfectly. I like Val, and I really like the new South African guy, but can't stand their partners. Oh, well. .Too bad she looks twice her age. I do, however, appreciate that she offers actual dance critiques. -
I believe last year the USTA prevented her from competing at the US Open because they thought she wasn't in good enough condition. There was quite an outcry about it, including protests voiced by Navratilova and Davenport, two all-time greats who had to deal with carrying more-than-the-ideal-weight early on in their careers. I really enjoy her stylish lefty game, particularly since so many players these days have the generic, big-hitting baseline style, and I hope she'll be able to put it all together and have a really successful pro career.
