I can't remember if its more in the books in the show, but it always seems if Morse had just listened to Lewis at the beginning of case, it would have been solved right away. Heh, which would have made for a very short book and tv episode.

I'm at the 3rd (and final episode) of season 1 in my rewatch of Morse and honestly, he isn't at grumpy as my memories of "Old Morse" are. Heh, of course, its just season 1. FYI, if you will be in London this fall, Roger's play with Ian McKellen - Frank & Percy - is moving to the West End from 8 September - 3 December. And I've got a ticket!!

FYI, Rachel will be on tonight at 11 p.m. ET to lead the discussion of the Republican debate.

2/5! Those stupid rabbits finally did some good (I hated that book when I read it in high school).

I started rewatching Inspector Morse last night and wow - the actor playing Young Max really looks like Old Max.

Goodbye to the world of Morse and Colin Dexter. It’s been a good one. I bawled when they played the Morse theme at the end. We didn’t get the ending I wanted - with Morse buying the car. Seeing the car is not the same thing! Robbie Lewis shoutout! And the three Easter Eggs for longtime viewers are I believe 1) Morse in the choir as he was in the first episode - I think it’s the very first scene 2) Morse in the hospital bed as he was in the finale and 3) he walked across the same lawn where he has his fatal heart attack.

Thanks to IMDB "At the very end of the story, Morse is astonished by the sudden reappearance of Jack Laskey in the role of DS Peter Jakes - who quit the police force and went to America at the end of the "Arcadia" episode in Season Three." I forgot about another Brideshead shoutout - one of the gang of idiots stuttered just like Anthony Blanche. And, oh Thursday, Win did not want you to transfer to another city. You should know better by now than to ignore what she wants.

I should have known Kenny was the killer - it’s always the most famous guest star. Lots of Brideshead Revisited shoutouts - the teddy bears, one of the gang’s last name is Mulcaster, and the actor who played the Sergeant in the tv series played Lt Hooper in the Brideshead tv series. Only one episode to go!

I don't know if I can quote a spoiler...but going by the books...and it's confusing what is considered canon or not - book or tv, I think at the end she was just out of town at the end, but he did leave her 1/3 of his estate (or I'm mixing up women). Heh, I do need to look at the last book again when I go home tonight.

That's her! According to the Morseuniverse before Endeavor (and my memories) she was the one that got away. Heh, though she was one of many. He did always fall for the wrong women....except at the end. He was dating someone who did love him back (the one who got him to tell Lewis his first name).

I knew we had heard why before so I googled it. According to Morse himself, John Thaw "Viewers may still wonder why Morse, with his educational and cultural background, became a policeman.
