A month's holiday would still mean 13-14 months before the spring schedule, which is more than enough time going on previous series. If it's true that S11 isn't debuting till autumn 2018, there's probably a bigger reason.

I don't know, spring is still 14 months away. RTD and Moffat's seasons took 9-10 months from filming to airing. Even allowing for pre-production, seems possible to get it on air for spring if they did start over the summer. Broadchurch has finished filming and will be finishing post-production within a few weeks, and Chibnall has known about this for two years so hopefully has not accepted any other new work. I do wonder how much of the rumour is legit and how much of it is speculation - I read something elsewhere stating that Chibnall will be working on Broadchurch until summer, when it will have finished airing months earlier.

That really makes no sense and honestly I haven't anyone suggest this as a reason. BBCAmerica are a separate network from the BBC proper, and they have nothing to do with production of the show. The chances that the head of scheduling for BBCA is even aware of the fact that a decade ago one of the actors had a "beef" with one of the directors is pretty small. Even if they were aware of it, why would they remotely care? The people Chris didn't get on with left the show years ago. It's not like he ever had any beef with or any negativity towards the show itself. The only reason BBCA don't show reruns of his episodes is because they've decided, and God knows why or what focus grouping they've done to come to this decision, is that those reruns won't be successful enough or get good enough ratings or perhaps won't do well enough for the money.

I know Chris a little bit. I've never spoken to him about what happened during his time on DW (though from all accounts the info in Joe and HauntedBathroom's posts is accurate) but he's so positive towards DW and DW fans nowadays I don't believe there is any bad blood or negative feelings anymore. I know he was willing to be in the 50th and only ended up dropping out due to there not being a finished script. I don't know why BBCA don't rerun his episodes but it has nothing to do with Chris personally. It's not like they need to get permission from or even tell the actors before doing reruns.

I honestly doubt they could shoot this year. Olivia Colman is pregnant, and David Tennant has a pretty packed schedule (currently shooting his new Marvel TV series, then a movie, then back to the Royal Shakespeare Company at the end of the year).

Re Joe not taking the stand, I listened to the Serial podcast and one of the jurors was interviewed and said they found Adnan not taking the stand suspicious and that it played a part in their judgement. Juries will inevitably consider things even if the judge has told them not to, I think; it's human nature.

Human Nature/Family of Blood is an adaptation of a previous Doctor Who story, and in the original 'Human Nature' the Doctor's companion happened to be white. I guess they didn't want to re-write the episode to set it elsewhere, after casting a non-white actress in the new companion role. They didn't create Martha as being non-white, it just that the actress they liked best for the role, happened to be non-white.

And a bunch of them are in the Marvel universe, too.
