Answering my own question, I think it was all production driven drama, much like Tarik's having a ticket issue with his flight from Bangkok. What a coincidence that it happened in his ex's home country and would get a reaction from Hazel! I actually looked online at flights from Virginia to Manila and the cheapest one involved three flights, not five and NOBODY routed through Thailand. But all this fakery is ratings gold and I'm hooked.

You may be onto something here. Just how good is that translation app? It could be misunderstanding and inaccurately translating everything Pole says to Krini. And who knows how well the Krini to Pole translation works. Google Translates often totally botches a written translation and no matter how slowly and clearly I speak, my Siri comes up with some hilarious responses to my voice commands.

Between constantly being subjected to the Jon barfing in the street scene and Dr. Pimple Popper commercials, I watch a lot through my fingers Wouldn't that have been something they would have talked about, religion, veiws on premarital sex, Star Wars vs. Star Trek, favorite foods, etc... before proclaiming undying love for a total stranger? She was probably "too shy" to discuss such things in the couple of weeks they've been penpals. All Tarik cares about is that she's BEAUTIFUL and kind. I re-watched the previews for next week. Angela appears to give Michael what SHE would probably consider a playful slap when he makes the fat comment (although I don't condone any type of hitting) and she says something that's bleeped out. Michael must have been extremely humiliated to have a loud aggressive woman act this way in the crowded marketplace in front of other Nigerians.

If Hazel claims "no sex until marriage" I can see Tarik immediately taking her to the courthouse in Manila for a quickie wedding. I like how Melissa wore the same dominatrix top to the restaurant that she wore in the photo she sent Ricky.

Here's my theory about Melissa. She had no intention of showing up at the restaurant until somehow the production company tracked her down and offered to pay her for filming the restaurant scene. That was the end of her obligation. From the previews, it looks like she's ghosting do-rag wearing Ricky on their date the next day and we might never see her again, however they'll keep filming Ricky's attempts to find her and his excuses for why she's MIA. After all, he charmed her! But, if she's ever filmed again, it's because they're paying her to bring the drama.
