Fair enough, but how would you feel if your job, with it's high stakes and extensive application and training period was filmed, chopped up for tv, your experience molded into a dramatic story-line, and aired, and then you had to listen to a bunch of people who don't really understand that application and training process or the daily grind of your job (but think they do) dissecting your every move and going on about how you you're doing it wrong?I just think it's different when you're the one under the microscope for all the world to comment on.

I think Judy had a very human and understandable reaction. While viewers have every right to watch the show and form their own opinions, for Judy this isn't tv. This is her job every day, day after day for almost 30 years. She does not edit the show and does not control which stories are told and how. So yeah, she's had enough of low-information viewers Monday morning quarterbacking her decisions and her qualifications. I can't say I blame her. I don't believe that just because people are on tv or are celebrities that they don't have the same emotions and frailties as anyone else. For the most part, she handles it with grace. Occasionally it gets to her. I have no problem with that.

Nope. This is 13 seasons now. They give the girls media training and it’s a big part of the job to handle everything with tact. Judy knows very well not to bite.

I’ve been there, deserved it less and copped FAR worse, and managed to keep my mouth shut and be gracious.

Judy - sit the f down and be grateful for your platform

Go check #rccltalent #rccl...there are way more questionable pics posted by the entertainers.

    Eeek ... I don’t think I will then haha

I generally don’t like the DCC swim pics at all. The only pic I have liked is Holly P in front of the surfboard... girl looked strong and in charge - a whole different feel. The other pics usually look too much like playing coy and ... approval seeking (?)

What is fine and dandy in the dance world is a bit different than what I usually see though. Dayton’s pic is a bit too much for me but I’m glad she has your support @ShellyB. You have to use it and work it when you have it, and that’s how you land jobs I guess - you’ve got to get noticed!

Dayton has worked hard for her amazing bum, and looks great, and can show it off however she likes....

but still, I will just avert my gaze for a moment haha

Here’s what I am thinking: since the episodes were listed wrong on our tv sets, CMT/the producers are re-editing the shows because of whatever is going behind the scenes, things that we don’t even know about or because of what has been leaked. It will be interesting to watch what WILL be shown after all the behind the scenes drama this year.

Interesting theory. VK’s excess weight at Cameos was unforgivable - surely her cut should have happened immediately after the cameo shoot but in real life it probably didn’t; perhaps putting cameos in episode 11 rather than ep 10 gives slightly more “face validity” to K&J keeping her so long afterwards.

Anyone else looking like that would have been cut then and there in the studio

Haha. She can add that into her audition solo next year. Banging her head on the table in Kelli’s office, pulling her hair up while pretending she might actually get cut,   maybe she could add ignoring some texts in there.

    Belly dancing?

The editors are doing as good a job as they can of making her look really dumb.  This is past Vivian level dumb. - I’m hoping Victoria has a poem too.

I’m hoping for interpretative dance - specifically, an over-wrought lyrical gyration on top of K&J’s conference table in the office

She makes it too easy. This pic SAYS.SO.MUCH.

She's actually pretty from the cheekbones up.

She really is an exceptionally pretty girl in many ways... and has probably, unfortunately, believed too much in her own publicity.

If Kelli and co had so much to say about the inadequacies of VK's interview skills and her need to find her "words" and "stories," why on earth have the editors made VK the principal voice of the entire rookie class and show??? You know she's not ready, so, how about letting us hear more from the articulate and more mature rookies, some of whom actually make the team and the audience would like to get to know? Just saying.

    Observation of the day!

i can’t wait to watch... have to wait for iTunes....

ohh my...this will be a tough episode to watch.  I remember hearing that this was a particularly rough night for *many* of the girls.

    Several girls suffered heavy critiques?

    ouch...

was not loving that moment when Tara stood out in a bad way. K&J don’t look like they’re going to  let that slide.

are they projecting their frustration with VK onto everyone else maybe??

Much better than last year's photo in terms of overall composition - especially the front two rows. My only complaint is that I think they should've raised up the second to last row more. You can barely see those poor girls. Of course, this would also mean that they would have to raise up the back row as well, but I think it would provide better visual parity for each girl.

I thought the exact same thing about the second top row.

Hiding my face in shame, but I had to look up the #metoo movement because I could not remember what it was. Now back to your regular snarking posting already in progress.

    HAHA!

One time in high school, I was so confused about why people were going on and on about “Youth In Asia” issues in a particular class I had.

The teacher was so incredibly boring and it all seemed so irrelevant... I switched off and didn’t see why anyone needed to take a position on it.

It wasn’t until years later that it dawned on me that they were talking about Euthanasia :-/

(For perspective... 20 years later I have an honours degree, two doctoral degrees and teach third year undergrads at university... lol)

While I see your points, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Whitney’s actions risked alienating a good portion of their fan base, much like Taylor’s ignorance of the #metoo movement risked alienating women. If these women are to be held to a higher standard as Kelli insists, I would love to see consistency across the board.

Thanks for seeing the spirit in my post... I went to delete it thinking that it was just not going to be helpful lol!

You’re totally correct about the alienation of fans issue. It really became a problem when the pics went public; it was a private party, and people didn’t have as much awareness back then that what happens in private doesn’t always stay that way - things that touch on a hot button issue will totally go viral and the meaning can change completely.

Nowadays people are so much more aware on several fronts - but I believe that’s why Kelli focussed on the ‘social media/things go viral’ part of the issue rather than touching on why blackface is not ok in current society.

I don’t live in the USA so these conversations are such a curiosity to me. It isn’t seen quite the same way globally - but of course, in the American market in which DCC are situated, more sensitivity was most definitely required.

I wouldn't say never, but I wouldnt be surprised if it, or cheerleaders in general get nixed sooner rather than later (though not for a while I suspect). tey're not there to entertain, not really.  they're there to titilate, let's be real. they're there predominantly for men, most of whom wouldn't know a well-executed dance routine if it bit them on the ass. if ti was about the dance, they wouldn't be so proud of uniforms that are less than a yard of fabric. girls wouldn't have to maintain stringent weight and appearance criteria.  its about sex. and in today's climate, increasingly, that's getting to be a harder sell with people, especially women, becoming increasingly uncomfortable with, and angered by, being viewed solely as a sex object.  now, of course thats not to say that there aren't still more than enoug women happy to stride out there for the 'legacy' and 'iconic' uniform, but for all the show keeps harping on about how many hundreds of girls turn up to audition, I'd swear the audition pool gets smaller and smaller every year, and the fact the bikini calendar is outsold by the sideline suggests to me its not as much of a revenue earner as theyd like to think it is. In the last two years alone, the amount of stories, in large newspapers not just blogs, about nfl cheerleaders being a misogynistic relic that has no place in today's society have become countless.

On top of that, the amount of really poor press from former nfl cheerleaders, across numerous teams, and increasing lawsuits against teams, sooner or later, they'll either have to clean up their act and pay more and stop encouraging things like EDs, OR they'll throw in the towel and end their cheerleading squads, like the Buffalo Jills after lawsuits

    Yes.

If they want to keep the DCC going - they should get real already and pay them a proper entertainment professional’s wage to legitimise the whole transaction.

I don’t care for the argument that they can only be paid for what they specifically “bring in” - they add something to the entire organisation as a whole (and don’t they harp on that side of things about how important the DCC is to the organisation?) and provide pageantry and all the rest. Just pay them properly and be done with it.

True. I found it easy to ignore her (KD) for that reason.

I hate dogging on her, but love it at the same time. :) She is the 2018 version of Kathryn Dunn. ?

Nah - really?? I see VK and KD as being in completely different boats: I wasn’t particularly irritated by KD. Icky is a whole different level of entitled and unprofessional than we’ve ever seen before, and don’t get me started on that unkempt tangled mop on her head!

KD may have been overly emotional and subsequently overreactive to people’s opinions of her, but she never crossed boundaries of appropriate conduct quite like the Ick does every 2 seconds...

To the best of my knowledge, we have not continually seen Charlotte praise Icky throughout the episodes, so I am going to say that's pure speculation until proven otherwise.

Yes, it’s hard to know how much Charlotte stops by to watch the cheerleaders through TC.

All we have is several episodes back - Charlotte icing out our hero, Scott the weatherman.

We can only guess at the behind-the-scenes silliness that prejudiced Charlotte to her raptures over the Ick back at the start.

  19. And let’s face it... Icktoria is the gift that keeps on giving. If you were a producer you would be following her around like glue wouldn’t you?? You know you’re guaranteed to get cracking footage of her behaving outrageously, and she is either too stupid or too immature or both to realise how it comes across.

Perhaps the heavy camera time did nothing but confirm to her how “special” she was, only to reinforce her entitlement.

I have no doubt that the production crew shamelessly played to her ego and she fell for it.

And let’s not pretend that we’re not all secretly living for the disgraceful spectacle she is making of herself.

I made the mistake of going back and watching tryouts. I had forgotten Charlotte and Kelli reaction to Victoria falling out of her turns was “awww.”

Its no wonder she has this terrible attitude. She has been getting a pass on everything.

Honestly, with Kitty being the only sticker she had, I really wonder what her score from the judges was. We know Jay gave her a maybe and the weather guy gave her a no or a maybe.

And who can forget Brenda’s tears. Probably another yes there.

I thought one of the guest choreographers loved her too (forget his name) but perhaps not given the lack of sticker from him !

  21. I’m getting really sick and tired of seeing Icktoria’s apron flapping about when she dances.

The weight gain appears to be affecting her dance - it looks like she is attempting to hide it or limit the jiggle by dancing small.

Her attitude is an absolute disgrace - how is she STILL there?
