I'm pretty fed up with Kelli calling girls into her office and berating them for being nervous and afraid. (Or bitching about it behind their backs.) That was unfair what she did to Megan. The "we need leaders" line was bull. A team that is nothing but leaders is a dysfunctional one. Kelli says she wants leaders, but I see her mostly choosing very young women who will follow directions blindly and without question, and yes ma'am everyone left, right, and center. Then, if they muster up some maturity in a year or three, she'll give them some responsibility.
Given that we're seeing so much "business mode" Kelli this year, it's bizarre that she has had so many moments appearing genuinely shocked that the girls could feel nervous or intimidated by her.
And you're right - the team doesn't need "leaders" nearly as much as it needs individuals who are really good at conforming to a narrow ideal. The girls that conform the best aren't really "leaders" as much as what I'd call "stepford girls".

Cassie Trammel is just not cute. She has no lips!

Yup. I can't even listen to what she's saying now. Her huge lips are distracting. And on that note... what exactly is her purpose this season? Last season she was kind of a coach for the strugglers, giving them extra help and tips. This season it seems like she's more of an assistant to Kelli.
I wondered the same thing! Is anyone else as suspicious as I am that Melissa's being positioned to become an assistant director, or eventually take over from Kelli or something like that??
This is why I think the judges' reactions during auditions when they learned who the top 3 were were heavily edited. The other 2 besides Colby made it into TC on their own so I don't see why they would have made faces.
I thought the judges made the faces just about Colby!
She sounds like Minnie Mouse. Brittany has come a long way since her TCC days.
Maybe it's because I'm Aussie, but that voice to me is incredibly irritating and sounds prissy & so put on!

Uniform question...why are the stars put on separately? How are they attached? I'd be so scared of mine falling off!
I can't believe that no one's stars have ever fallen off - or have they? With the physicality of shaking it for four hours...
And on the topic of uniform cleaning, can you imagine how sweaty & stinky they'd be at the end of a game? Ugh!

Producers, please: give us a full special on the finals routines & deliberations! I don't care if you have to substitute crappy music in!! It's the most crucial part of each season of MTT. Or even if DCC can put full finals routines online...

I think it was Colby's faces and body language when dancing that got her cut. The other stuff is just icing on the cake. Just my opinion.

I loved what Kelli said to Emily in the cut scene - something like 'training camp was made especially for girls like you, we want to give you the chance to make the team'. The way she put it sounded kind, sweet and supportive.

Is it just me, or did Colby actually smirk when Kelli told her she was too thin?
I'm glad we won't be seeing her next episode. Trying to figure Colby out has been driving me crazy... the woman-child behaviour is so inappropriate in the context - the coquettishness seems bizarre.
On rewatch I'm not sure I give her full marks for acting gracefully in Kelli's office anymore when it seems she is striving to be someone she's not, the rest of the time.
I do wish her the best in moving on and I feel sad that she has put herself up for portrayal in a way that lends her to ridicule.

I wish Holly's hair was different. It doesn't seem very DCC (not boofy enough maybe? Lol) and it's probably hard to change it up with that length during makeovers. It just seems to get in her way when dancing. But I love her!
Poor Emily. I wish she'd been able to find some mojo and overcome her shyness. I hope we see her next year with some more performance "pop".
Colby had some moments on camera this week that were extra unflattering in terms of looking "DCC fresh". Kelli must have really been annoyed that she made it by a popularity contest (or paying for votes) with the fan vote - Kelli totally lost her poise with the comments she was making about Colby, to the point that I thought she must have been taking it super personally?
Madeleine has a really cute personality and I hope she gets it together. A makeover might really make a difference for her, makeup can do so much to turn a baby-faced girl into a more mature looking woman!
Taylor... so much discussion on the season 10 spoilers thread where she got really trashed by so many, so I wasn't expecting to love her. I think she's gorgeous and I'm really impressed with her. But those kicks!! I think she'd be a fantastic DCC if she can find more height. Given that she's tried out for a few years running, she should know the kick standards and I'm really surprised that she's only now going to start working on them. Really? She comes across too smart to ignore something so important for something she keeps trying out for.
Oh Shelbi. I think Kelli's reaction to her quitting her job says everything about what Kelli thinks about her chances of making it. I hope the extra practice makes a difference, but Kelli's reaction said to me that it might be an almost insurmountable challenge in her eyes...
I love that Angela is a GL and conducts herself so beautifully. I'm an Aussie so it's nice to see her and Jinelle making us proud :-)

I hate to see any woman w/ a "good job" quit it for DCC. It like is reversing feminism 50 years or something like that :). I guess if it was a job w/ varying hours that conflicted w/ TC and games, you'd have to choose, but they practice in the evenings and cheer on weekends right? And the girl would know going in that this is the schedule, right?
Maybe it's harsh, but I think a TCC who needed to practice all day just to remember a combo taught the night before should be cut.

The rehearsal schedule on top of a full time job leaves very little time for anything else such as relationships or family commitments, I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

Sounds like DCC is such a big deal in TX, it's worth the risk? Most of them are so young, and early in their careers, that it shouldn't be too hard to begin again if they really had to... nothing ventured, nothing gained - and it's probably seen as being quite prestigious to even make TC.
From that perspective, perhaps it makes the "I want this so bad" tears a little less obnoxious. It's a big risk for the girls who are on the bubble. You'd want to be working hard, be in the shape of your life, and be getting those kicks up!!

On rewatching the episode, the most cringe-worthy moment IMO was when Colby got pulled out of practice by Melissa, and Colby said to her something like - I'm waiting for my breakthrough moment, I don't know if you've ever had one of those to be able to relaaate...
Oh my lord, it came off as incredibly condescending and arrogant to me!

I wonder about this too! And of course, the issues when one or more get cut...To be honest, I have always wondered how many of the girls who meet at auditions and become roommates end up not getting along.
Anyway, I always wondered how many of them started driving each other crazy but were stuck together until their lease was up.

Hi all, I'm a loooong time lurker years back from TWoP days. This season, I just could not help but create an account to post. Some of the rookies have curious backstories (Colby, Taylor) and I'm more invested than ever before!

And OMG, Taylor's kicks! How on earth did she get voted into training camp by the judges??
Taylor seems to have the full package apart from that, and looks like she has a strong work ethic.
I wonder if the show will have a story arc about her grid girl work with Traxxas, surely those racy photo shoots aren't going to wash with Kelli.

When Kelli asked about Colby's cosmetic work, and Colby played it down with "temporary" lip filler... I was like, the lips are the least of her problems, ...and what about all the rest of it? The whole episode I was distracted by that frozen forehead!
She must be attractive IRL but just not very videogenic - Melissa R commented on her beauty at the unofficial rehearsal and I could kind of see something fresher/more attractive in Colby in her talking head straight after that (more flattering lighting? Less guarded?)
She seems like a sweet person, and was graceful in the face of K's honesty. But there is nothing about her that says DCC to me! IMO she looks a lot older than her stated age.

Yep pretty is the last word I'd choose... she's striking though - and has great teeth and a dazzling smile. If she wore thicker foundation to even out her skin tone and more makeup I think she could get the DCC look, but around her eyes she looks red to me like she's constantly emotional.
Personally I like her look - it's just maybe a bit 'organic' for DCC.
