  1. Maybe it's because her rookie year is over, Kat looks happy and confident in her recent Instagram. In MTT we always got her "concerned/concentrating face" which was not as flattering to her facial features.

Totally Team Kat this year, I'd be surprised if she didn't make it!

  2. Danielle has really gone on to great things as a DCC after her last minute rescue invitation to TC a couple of years ago. I wonder if now of all times, in a squad low on tenure, K looks back on that decision and is soooooo freaking glad!

  3. I agree that Sam going for DCC doesn't seem like a good fit - (from the outside looking in of course!)

She would get to enjoy a lot of the DCC perks as it is, rubbing shoulders with the girls and on the periphery of some of the fun stuff they get to do because of her mum. That might be enough for some people without going through the pain; she would know more that most people what Cassie's had to go through, and she'd *have* to be aware that she'd cop even more pressure and prejudice to be totally perfect. And even then, suffer the weight of the inevitable controversy on social media with all of Dallas looking on! It would be a huge storyline on the show, and it could be vicious and totally not worth it. Even if she was great, there'd be backlash.

If she went for it, I'd think she was exceptionally brave.

  4. !

I'll never understand these gals that try out without having watched every season and having memorized Thunderstruck. Wouldn't you want every advantage? Am I overthinking this?

If DCC truly was your "dream" then there is no way you haven't watched MTT 5000+ times. Or be on every forum going around about DCC, and their FB page, and all the rest.

    Surely?

It's curious that no one shrugs off those gaffes by saying 'oh well, I was in the area, just thought I'd come down and try out just for fun, I wouldn't have a clue about football but I'm willing to learn...'

  5. As for a reunion and/or "where are they now" show: I think I read on this board that Judy says it would be too expensive.

Yes, that would be true if it involved sending camera crews all around the country. But really, all they would have to do is be a bit creative with all the resources they already have! There is so much file footage from all the seasons, plus tons of recent photos/videos on social media. Just using that, a creative editor could put together a then/now package for some favorites who are no longer in the area (Nicole, Brooke, Abigail, Deryn, etc.), and add some interviews for those more easily reached (Kandi, Cassie, Misty, some all-Stars, etc.). And of course, some updates on those who tried several times but didn't make it, including Kalli Fullerton (now married and working on her Ph.D) and Meagan F. (sadly, still battling leukemia). Even the girl with a million last names who tried out all the time.

Heck, I'd even like an update on the infamous Minchew sisters.

You're right. But I reckon that if they can manage a "DCC brides" episode, they can sort out a "where are they now" show!

The snark in me just knows a "where are they now" show actually means "where is cassie now".... so probably useless to all but diehard fans of MTT! (Maybe why the network says 'too expensive' lololol)

  6. I think Holly's body is fine, but her hairstyle does nothing to lengthen her neck, or to give her the appearance of extra height to lean her out. That bob length doesn't really do much for any girls that I can think of, and I thought the same about Madeleine's hair. IMO, really short (eg Jordan Baum one season) or long works well with the uniform - in between, meh for me.

When those girls have every inch of their bodies under scrutiny and the cameras can be so unforgiving, surely the "makeover gurus" can come up with something better to make the most of what Holly brings to the table!

  7. I doubt it. Because whenever they make appearances, they are in their uniform or in some type of DCC gear.

I only mentioned being in 'other clothes' due to the long and painful sequences shown in many past series about fashion "do & don'ts", haha, so I assumed that they must have lots of "out of DCC uniform" things to do. But I don't know!

I don't understand the fuss over Dermablend. I have a hip tattoo that Dermablend doesn't even begin to cover.

I've never actually seen that product. But could hardly believe sequences on the show where a girl has used it to cover up a whole tattoo and its left no trace of what's underneath - totally amazing!! But maybe not so much then, lol

  8. I was just looking over the 10 Most Beautiful in Dallas piece and is it stupid that I shocked to see a tattoo on Jacie's wrist? I would have thought that tattoos would be a no-no for K&J!

In DCC uniform it'd be covered up no probs, but do you think they have rules about whether it has to be covered during other appearances when they wear regular clothes?

They've shown sequences during uniform fittings of girls that have covered up tramp stamps with dermablend. (TCC Ashley Kelly ?). A wrist tattoo would be a cinch in comparison!

  9. . I like Melissa's role this year and that she has added help by seasoned vets. The nature of Melissa's "job" is to help the struggling ones. By the nature of the system only a few potentially that she works with will click with the addl help and make it.

I think that Melissa has explained things and broken it down for the girls in a much more practical way this year with the video playbacks. Much more helpful than Judy's standard ambiguous feedback!

  10. Taylor said some silly things at her cut - another poster here called her out on the entitlement mentality - most of it I can give her a pass on though, I think DCC meant so much to her, that in her obvious emotional pain she just wasn't thinking rationally. It'd be hard to swallow being cut so late in camp and then have cameras and producers all up in your face to capture the reaction. And she knew how much they liked other aspects of her performance - so it seemed like a real shock to her that they finally went, nup.

I love how Courtney had it all figured out before the final two got called in - talking about K&J's office strategy, how the first girls get called in and just get warnings, and it's only last ones that get cut. It was refreshing to see someone talking like that, because I'm sure that those sort of rationalisation conversations happen a lot among the TCCs as they try to work out where they stand in the group.

  11. I really dislike how Kelli has brought girls into the office this year with the intention to cut them, and starts with a "how do you think you went this week" or "how are you feeling about tonight". Does it matter? It seems so cruel to set them up for an extra twist of the humiliation knife by leading them on like that. How confusing and embarrassing - it bears uncomfortable parallels to emotional abuse.

ETA: Tobybelle pretty much said the exact same thing earlier! I'm thinking exactly what you said. I don't get it. It totally drove me insane in this episode. There's no way to answer Kelli's question in any useful way; the sword of Damocles is hanging over the girl's head, so cut to the chase and use that time to be constructive with solid feedback instead of pussyfooting around and pretending to care about the girl's opinion of how she thinks she's performing!

  12. This reminds me of when Mackenzie Lee tried out and her kicks weren't the best (they were also lower and a bit tight). She used ankle weights and Brittney Evans to help her get her kicks up. I don't remember the entire sequence, but it's available in a previous episode. Taylor could have really benefitted from at least watching that episode for that segment alone.

There have been pics on Taylor's social media of her doing similar things to try to get her kicks.

But I can't see any improvement at all from the start of camp and there's not long to go. It'll be a painful cut for everyone if they leave it til the last minute. She seems like a hard worker and a popular TCC. Poor girl.

I thought the same thing in a previous season when they were calling out some girl for being "heavy" and they told her they already had her wearing the shorts in a "Large".

I'm curious what material their blue shirts are made of. When Kelli ties them so tight for maximum cleavage I'm always afraid those ties are going to tear right off the shirt.

It seems to me that they start fittings with a generic uniform of whatever basic size, then make adjustments and alterations from there to get the exact custom fit.

  13. Is it all just speculation that Angela was promised SG to come back or did I miss something?

I'd say it's total speculation. The only thing I know for sure is that she was definitely planning to retire, but was then convinced somehow to come back. I think she was considering retirement a year before that, too.

  14. Re Angela: I'm sure I recall reading here - probably the season 10 spoilers thread - a discussion of returning vets, with a few posters commenting on the loss to the team with so many seasoned vets retiring. Not sure if it was reported as fact or educated guess when someone said that Angela was totally going to retire but was then convinced to stay on by K&J who were desperate not to lose too many good vets. I wonder if they all but promised SG? It didn't seem like Angela believed she was entitled to it - but may explain the confusion and disappointment she seemed to feel.

Also, the producers totally pumped her for those sound bites about coming back for SG and maybe her reaction was pure embarrassment and feeling upset, knowing she had just been made a fool of quite publicly and that it'd be broadcast to boot.

I also wonder whether she has had to meet certain visa requirements in the past that she had to turn down appearances due to working too many hours in total?

The guest coreog should have read that situation better and figured maybe some subtlety and sensitivity would have been appropriate... but she looked like an idiot overall so I suppose those kind of normal responses to a person are beyond her.

  15. I actually thought Rose looked mutinous when she was called into the office and then cut. She didn't say anything mutinous, but I could read it on her face. It cracked me up because I was waiting for her to explode Meagan Flaherty style, but she held it in. Of course I could have been reading her face wrong, but that was how it looked to me.

Yes!!!!! If you're right, Rose is a super smart girl. Good for her, holding on to her dignity like that.

Post cut, Rose is really growing on me... Although, ahem, I just remembered the "rosebud" thing. Seriously, WTH. That is some seriously twisted ego nonsense.

  16. I somewhat agree, but I just watched a bunch of them and none of them were anywhere near as bad as Rose's. It's just the way her body moves. Even something simple like the high kick, her placement is all wrong, and that is what stands out to me in a very negative way. I just struggle with the concept of, "Well, she's really bad, but she's pretty and tall so maybe we can make her less bad by football season." I just think a lot of other people deserved TC more than she did, but of course everyone feels differently on this subject, and it is altogether a moot point. It just baffles me is all.

Based on rewatching that fan vote video, I don't understand why they couldn't give Rose more specific feedback than just "awkward" in her time during training camp. (I'm not a dancer so my vocabulary would be all wrong - but even I could say, your placement isn't precise enough, hold your core tighter etc rather than just ".... awkward".) It wastes everyone's time. Rose likely didn't stand a chance anyway, so it's just confusing for her, wastes screen time, and robs time and opportunities from other girls.

  17. I don't think they're positioning Melissa in to take over or be a permanent assistant. I think she's just the most recent, most familiar, still lives in Dallas name, so it's to both Melissa and the DCC's advantage to use her in this mentor role right now. I also don't think Kelli, Judy, or Kitty are going ANYWHERE for a long time.

I agree on Kelli, Judy & Kitty having lots of years left. It just makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes when Melissa's role as shown on screen appears to be so generic this year. And at some point, they *have* to be thinking long term, setting a direction, and wondering about 'fit'. But of course there's no reason that that would be happening publicly, on-camera!

It's easy to read too much into it all when a total of only hours out of a whole season is portrayed, amiright?

  18. I'd love to know how old Kitty Judy and Kelli are for sure. Kelli & Judy I can almost figure out if they started cheering when they were 18. Judy tweeted to me that Kelli started cheering the year she retired (but never actually said when that was) when I asked if they had ever actually cheered together.

I was pretty sure they overlapped a year. Judy's tweet could mean that, or that Kelli started straight after.

    EDIT: ^^^^ nice detective work.

  19. I never really noticed before, probably because she always had her hair down, but she is looking older. She must be in her 60s. Even so, she shows a lot more pep than Judy, who is younger than her.

Yes, it was a shock to me how senior Kitty looked with the hair up/cap on. I totally understand people reacting strongly to her style, there are so many cringe moments but that *does* make good TV. Love her or hate her, we're all paying attention to what outrageous thing she'll say or do next! As for me, I do admire her passion and that she seems to really get personally invested in bringing out the best in the girls. As a poster pointed out above, there is far more abrasive stuff that goes on in the entertainment/sport/dance worlds. People I know in the modelling industry in China have the worst anecdotes I've ever heard WRT how the "talent" is treated. Makes Kitty look like a kitten!

I'm not sure Judy lacks pep as opposed to having a much more even, gentle way about her. But that's probably what you meant. (I reckon she is a great mum, Cassie's so lucky.)
