"Tell Me Something I Don't Know": Trivia & Fact Thread
Sandman87 replied to Petunia13's topic in Everything Else
Up until recently an even older operating business was also in Japan; the Kongo Gumi construction company, which began operations in 578 A.D, and was involved in projects like building castles and temples. It was absorbed by another company in 2006. The oldest that Europe can manage is the Stiftskeller St. Peter, a restaurant inside St Peter's Abbey in Salzburg. It has only been (verifiably) in business since 803 A.D. -

I wonder if Old Man Jostar is ever going to remember that he can use Hermit Purple to get an image of Kira. -
An episode of Sai flashbacks. What else is there to say?

Asta and friends finally get to talk to the Witch Queen, and the forces of the Diamond Kingdom and the Eye of the Midnight Sun just happen to attack at that moment. The Queen heals Asta's arms, and ass-kicking starts to ensue. BTW, the Witch Queen looks like she's going to a costume party dressed as an artichoke.

Best moment of the Creamy Pirate/Clones episode: The grunting and chimp noises when everyone on French's Isle of Clones was going to bed. So very wrong. Actually, there was a lot of wrong in this one. And once again Chubby Webbers was the only one who figured out the important plot point. I liked the way that eating the gun turned out to be important later in the episode. The second episode was "The Moon Masters", which naturally made me think of the Mooninites scamming Carl and Meatwad with their Moon Master pyramid scheme. Best line of the episode: Psycho yakuza guy bellowing "Ass dog" in English (when he was getting the autograph). Incidentally, Concierge was voiced by Robert Picardo.

It sort of makes sense that Heart Attack is so tough. Kira can't control it directly once it's created, so I guess it sort of counts as a no-range power. I went to the local supermarket after work today, and when I walked in the door the music on their PA system was "I Want You." I've never heard the song anywhere other than at the end of DiU, so it was a bit of a surprise. -
A Tenten-intensive (intentensive?) flashback episode showing how she became an expert at using tools. No, not like that! I mean ninja tools. In other words, filler.
-
Watching the rerun of "...and the Fellowship of" tonight, Helpy did some foreshadowing of the last episode: "I serve the Greater Good."
-
I would have felt more for Gon if he hadn't been a complete assmonkey for the last few episodes. I get the feeling that Pouf's scheme is going to blow up in a spectacular way. Loved that Knuckle and Meleoron were hiding in plain sight among the waiting human victims.

Two consecutive episodes of nonstop action! I don't know if I can take it. Universe 9 tries to gang up on Goku all at once. Vegeta reluctantly lends a hand, resulting in total defeat for 9. The Omni-Kings waste no time in utterly eradicating Universe 9, along with everyone in or from it.

Sword Art Online - General Discussion

As soon as they said "It's forbidden to go to that other place over there" in the first half, I knew exactly how things were going to turn out with them. Chekov's Gun, and all that. -
Doh! Beaten to the punch! Then again, I prefer soda instead of punch. Been enjoying watching the reruns leading up to the new season. So wrong, yet so right.

It started as a crowdfunded short called The Begun of Tigtone, and then there was a series of really short Tigtone's Journal mini-episodes. That would be worth seeing. The guy who does quests against Nothing meets the guy who fights evil even when it's not there.

I finally have electricity again, so I can respond to this: You're braver than I am. I'd probably start out the drinking game by using the bottle to break the TV.

It's a shame that Shino has gotten played for comedy and pathos so often. He was kind of frightening back during the Chunin Exams. Wasted potential.

Well, considering that they basically spoil that whole thing (which I previously called btw) in the closing credits, it's not much of a record scratch. I suspect that "date" in this context means that Sasuke got lucky while he was unconscious from his injuries. Tsunade has one of those diamond things too. When Pain attacked the village it turned out to be some sort of massive chakra storage thingy.

The season finishes off with a bang as Tigtone combats an evil singing sword, then nearly gets his butt kicked by Nothing. Looks like the KingQueen's queen is the one wearing the pantaloons on that body. King is a wimp. Can't help wondering what deep emotional revelation Tigtone made to Helpy. Maybe it was something like "When I was a child, my parents wouldn't let me go on quests!" And given how Tig-Child behaved, I wouldn't blame them. Owl-chemist and his Chemis-tree are wonderfully bad puns. The sword's Giant Weapon Body had a realistically proportioned war-hammer as its left upper arm. I'm pretty sure that's a violation of the video game rule which states that all war-hammers must be freaking huge sledgehammer-looking monstrosities. The advice wizard becoming a child was an lol moment. "Wemembew Tigtone, you have some twansfowmation potion weft!" Wait, did Tigtone just beat a god to death with his fists? Damn... Some of those monsters at the end of "vs. Nothing" reminded me of Terry Gilliam cartoons. Quite possibly the defining lines for the entire series: Helpy: "Which quest do you want to do first?" Tigtone: "ALL OF THEM!!!"

The hand-guy killed the annoying spikey-head kid! Turns out that he's so cheap that he gets his tailoring done at a shoe shop. Turning things into bombs isn't exactly an original power. I've come to expect a little more from this show. -

I'm strangely ambivalent about the prospect of another season. -
Both of tonight's episodes show us that Helpy has a dark side. A very dark side.

The severed hand guy finally gets his story started, and he manages to remind me even more of the Tom Lehrer song I mentioned before. He's even carrying a severed hand around in a sandwich shop bag! Hilarity ensues when there's an accidental bag swap. Looks like the spikey-head kid is in serious trouble, because the guy is a stand user, and his stand is called Killer Deadly Queen.
