  1. A dark fantasy running on Toonami as of 4/13. Not a show for kids. At a ridiculously saccharine orphanage where the children each have a serial number tattooed on their necks (cue ominous music), Emma and Norman try to return a stuffed animal to one of their friends who is leaving for the outside world. They stumble across the fact that the orphanage is, in fact, a sort of ranch where the children are being raised as food for some kind of horrible creatures. Time to make an escape plan!
  2. A local alternative energy company is advertising that they will "upgrade your entire solar system." Presumably their deluxe package will make Pluto a planet again. Mom still tells the story about the time I walked into the house holding a snake and saying "look at the daddy worm!"

    Toonami: Anime for Insomniacs

A place to discuss all things Toonami. ------------------------------------- Toonami has announced that they'll be showing Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann beginning with the August 16th broadcast. The show ran previously on SciFi during Ani-Mondays. For those not familiar with it, TTGL is a giant robot show that's approximately the opposite of Evangelion. It's high energy, optimistic, and a lot of fun, with a "holy crap!" factor that escalates with almost every episode. Generally speaking, a lot of ass gets kicked by all and sundry.

    Toonami: Anime for Insomniacs

New topic for The Promised Neverland.

    Hunter X Hunter

Now I expect an episode where he accidentally flashes his goodies while getting out of a limo.
  6. The next generation sequel to Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. Please spoiler tag anything that hasn't aired in the U.S. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Latest episode: The class rep. turns out to be the mysterious bad guy! She unleashes a snake/tiger/ape monster that's going to suck all the chakra, and then detonate, destroying the village. Naturally Boruto wants to stop her without killing her.

    My Hero Academia

I don't think so. He seems to have at least two personalities.

    Hunter X Hunter

An episode focusing on the minutiae of the process for the upcoming election. Maybe the next one will be even more exciting and have the Zodiacs discussing the advantages of various tax accounting practices. I'm sure Rat would be all over that.

    Sword Art Online

Every time someone says "Eugeo", it makes me think "Yu-Gi-Oh!"

    My Hero Academia

Attacking a training camp for kids has to rank pretty high on the villainy scale. So far the kids include one who turns calories into super strength, one who produces endless weapons out of thin air, and one with a powerful "demon" that has to be carefully managed to prevent it from going out of control. Starting to sound like Naruto here.

    Dragon Ball Super

Master Roshi takes out three other combatants, nearly killing himself in the process.

Adult Swim: Now With 20% More FOX Cartoons!

Just got done watching Lazor Wulf. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a "Boring."
  13. A place to talk about Adult Swim, aka [adult swim], aka [as]. Note that Toonami has it's own separate discussion thread here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There's a promo running now for the new season of Black Dynamite starting this coming Saturday (11/18) at 10:30 pm. Also being promoted: Mike Tyson Mysteries on the 27th. No really. I'm not kidding. Apparently [as] thinks there's a demand for a Scooby-Doo-esque cartoon featuring a tattooed ex-boxer.

    JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Now that I've thought about it, the Posy Cat looks like something from one of Dali's paintings. You know, one of the ones where you squint a little and suddenly something looks like something else. Like this one. "I'll take a fingernail...and clip it."

    Black Clover

I suspect that thinking wasn't much involved. Yami just does what he does. Vanessa's power controls "the red string of destiny", so naturally it looks like a cat. Because cats play with strings.

    JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Kira vs. a dead cat that's been reborn as a flower. I hereby dub it a Posy Cat. Also, Kira's newly acquired kid is still a nosy little creep.

    Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Nice to see that the only ninja in existence who has any common sense is now the Kage of the Hidden Cloud Village. Recall that back when he was one of the ninja who had to chase after Killer Bee in Shippuden, he decided to go downstairs and use the front door instead of leaping out of the window.
  18. A thread for talking about those seriously, all-out, pants-peeingly funny moments on TV. --------------------------- I've been catching up on all the MythBusters episodes that I've missed, and tonight they were testing the speed and distance that sneezes can achieve. Jamie: "When Adam sneezes, we need to see how far the stuff that comes out of his nose travels, and so to do that I'm going to add this cherry flavored red kids drink mix to the snuff that he inhales, and when he sneezes hopefully we'll see little red dots on this lovely strip of white paper." Adam: (snorts snuff/kool-aid) "Oh...ah...oh...it's irritating...and sweet and fruity!" At that point I started laughing, and could not stop. Everything they did after that for the rest of the segment just made it funnier. It's making me laugh now. My stomach hurts...

Adult Swim: Now With 20% More FOX Cartoons!

All right, it's the night where Adult Swim does their April Fools thing, and I'm watching something that's (apparently) titled Gemmu Settu Machu Pichu. Think of a cross between Prefect Hair Forever and Xavier Renegade Angel, with bonus trivia facts thrown in from time to time, and you'll get the general idea. Amazingly stupid in kind of a clever way. Anyway, it's about a guy who's challenging various Inca and Aztec gods to tennis matches while being pursued by Interpol. To the extent that it's actually about anything, that is. ETA: The correct spelling of the show's name is Gemusetto Machu Picchu. It consisted of 6 episodes, at one hour each. Talk about a merciless April Fools gag.

    Sword Art Online

Was anyone surprised that Asuna's flowers got dug up by the jerkwad noble kids? Thinking about last week's episode, they're not handling the brain copy freak-out problem very well. It took me about two minutes to come up with a couple of possible remedies. Making a copy of someone who wants to be an AI, for example.

    Naruto: Shippuden

Naruto meets Killer Bee, who isn't much impressed. Then he meditates at the Magical Waterfall of Meeting Your Dark Side. Unsurprisingly, he meets his dark side.
  22. Sandman87

    Dragon Ball Super

Hit squares off against the Universe 11 Pride Trooper who looks and talks like Jaxxon from the old Marvel Star Wars comic, but without the guns. Goku and one of the other Pride Troopers get involved. Surprisingly, no one is disqualified once the dust clears, although the Pride Troopers get the worst of it before withdrawing.

    Black Clover

Surprise! The Witch Queen is a total...witch. Who'da thunk it? On a positive note, she unleashed Asta's inner devil before sticking the knife in, giving him a massive power-up.

    JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Darn you Terrafamilia, you stole the joke that I came here to make. Loved the non-sequitur ending: "Meanwhile, Koichi does something random and ordinary." I guess we can look forward to some sort of dog-walking related adventure next week.

    Toonami: Anime for Insomniacs

That description sounds like they lifted part of the New Orleans vampire coven subplot from Preacher.
