  1. In the live version of Frank Zappa's "Tinseltown Rebellion" from Does Humor Belong in Music? there are multiple references to "Sunshine of Your Love", "Whip It", "Rock You Like A Hurricane", and "I'll Tumble For Ya." Blue Oyster Cult's "The Marshall Plan" includes the first few bars of "Smoke on the Water."
  2. Fun topic! Here's one without lyrics: Alice Cooper's "Unfinished Sweet" has a snippet of the Jame Bond theme right in the middle of it. I'm still not sure why he put that in a song about going to the dentist... Tone Loc's "Funky Cold Medina" makes mention of his song "Wild Thing". Bad dog!
  3. I decided to change banks a couple of months ago after my old bank screwed up my account while I was in the hospital. Did a little research, picked out a locally operated credit union, and went to the closest branch to get things rolling. As soon as I walked in I knew it was the right choice, because there was a 12" tall action figure of Super Saiyan Goku doing a Kamehameha on the counter in front of the end teller station. A few weeks later I talked to that teller, and he brings in a different thing every week to put there.
  4. To be fair, TV studios can get hellishly hot when the studio lights are turned on. It's common for the talent to wear a suit jacket with shorts if the audience is only going to see the upper half of their body. The trick is making sure that's all they see.
  5. MegasXLR is one of the all time great robot shows. Great VAs, great music (naturally, since it was produced by WB), likable hero with a snarky sidekick. And that theme song! I wanted a full length version of that song. So many great moments in that show too.
  6. If they can get the director and writer(s) from the Crank movies, that might turn out ok.
  7. Sorry to say, but I missed it. I haven't had access to TV for the last two months. Luckily that changed today. (I'll see if the AS site has the episode up.)
  8. Was it Spaceward Ho!? Turn based, networkable, lots of fun. The little planet icons wearing cowboy hats were memorable. I used to play it at work when I was on hold during tech support calls.
  9. Oops, wrong thread. But thanks for the "like."
  10. Watched the show tonight. Every time that one kid talked about spelunking it made me think of Spelunker Sensei.
  11. Don't worry. It's more fun when everyone complains about things. Otherwise we'd have nothing to talk about here.
  12. Haven't been able to watch Toonami for the last month. Probably won't be able to for at least a couple more weeks. Bummer.
  13. Interesting AMV, although I have a lot of catching up to do before I can recognize some of the shows there. Amusing that it's so heavy on action shows, but includes K-On! I know they can't include everything, but some rather essential shows or franchises weren't there. Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Black Butler, or Gundam for example. As a side note, it still tickles me that I can recognize that an unfamiliar show is produced by Studio Shaft just from the look of it.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm back. Been offline for a couple of months. I haven't had access to Toonami for a few weeks, but I've been watching an all-anime channel on a Smart TV that's been showing marathons of Bleach every weekday afternoon for 2 hours. Been reliving the glory days of seasons 2 and 3, and they're just as good now as I remember them being. So many "best" moments back when the characters were all fresh and the story wasn't getting bogged down. The first time Ichigo yells "Ban Kai!" while "Number One" starts up in the background still makes me bounce up and down in my chair. So good. Unfortunately it's moved on to the Bount arc so...still watching, but not bouncing up and down. The same channel also showed Robot Carnival one night last week. Good stuff.
  15. Mereoleona is basically the Captain Kenpachi of this show. "Use any magic you want! I will crush it by punching it while I grin maniacally!"
  16. I get the impression that they're easing into the new season, ramping things up as they go. Might be wrong about that. Loved the way that Saitama disposed of the giant bird monster off-screen, like it wasn't even worth our time to see it.
  17. Honestly, I wouldn't miss Boruto if it went away for good. The arc that focused on Sarada was excellent, but the rest of the episodes...meh.
  18. We interrupt this Great Ninja War to bring you some annoying filler. Sakura bumps her head and gets amnesia. Stupid stuff ensues. I have no idea how it got resolved, because I turned off the TV and went to bed.
  19. For the record, "Golden Wind" sounds like a euphemism for when grandpa has gas.
  20. The Hero Association is apparently run by idiots. There is a very specific set of things that will inspire villains to work alongside heroes, and "gosh, we sure are overworked" is not one of them.
  21. The guy with the long white hair is a Black Bull that we (and most of the other Black Bulls) haven't seen yet. His magical ability is the Black Bull's headquarters. He can basically rearrange the building so fast that it's a combat ability. The high point of the fight is when he turns the building into what amounts to a giant mecha.
  22. I guess those pants could take a lot of Tork. Thank you, I'll be here all week!
  23. I am so incredibly glad that One Punch Man is back. The recent Toonami lineup has had more than the usual number of "I'll watch it just because I have nothing better to do" shows*, so it's nice to have a major upgrade in quality. One show that I have been enjoying is MSG: The Origin. I didn't see any need for discussion since much of it was rehash, but the shiny new 3D combined with the old school look of the characters was neat. Plus it was a nice summary of all the important background stuff, including just exactly how Char became a manipulative bastard and why. * By which I mean Fire Force, Dr Stone, and Food Wars. Lupin I won't watch at all.
  24. Exactly how many times did Goku take a power upgrade during this tournament? 30? 35? Whatever. It was an unexpected bonus that Android 17 was the last one standing.
