So let me get this straight, this Deon cat was class of 1998, and was gonna be the next Patrick Mahomes?  The same Patrick Mahomes that entered the NFL in 2017?

    Do your homework, Flash writers.

That struck me is odd as well.  I get he was aware of his future, but that reference was just an odd one to make.  As someone else said, he probably should have made reference to one of the big name 80's or 90's QB.

I dunno, I guess it was a fun episode but I was distracted by some inconsistencies (those outfits didn't look like they were from the late 90s) and the fact that Legends does time travel/time loop episodes better.

That was what I was coming in here to say.  I graduated high school in 1996 (Wow I feel real old saying that) and nobody in my school would have been caught dead wearing that type of clothes.  That was two years before the episode was set. If you did dress like that in 1996, people would make fun of you.

What they were wearing was big when I was in middle school so we're talking 1990 to 1992 time frame.  They were wearing some Kid N' Play House Party clothes.

I wonder why they chose this whole Force battle to be the season's story.  The reason why I ended up yanking The Flash off my pull list was because I hated this storyline in the comics.  I hope they can do better than what they did in the comics, but I am not holding out hope.

Also, I have been racking my brain but for the life of me I cannot remember when Chester first appeared.  I know it was some time last season, but I completely blocked out his introduction.  Hell I did not even recall his name until last night.  Though I do have to say I liked the storyline with him and his dad.  It made him a more interesting character.  As someone else said, he is far to similar to Cisco personality wise.

  2. I like Leroy but for some reason I just don't care if he wins this season.  Mainly because I feel like it is a foregone conclusion that he will win.  It is like watching Cody win Big Brother All-Stars last season or Boston Rob win his season of Survivor.  There is just nothing to him winning because it seems like most are willing to give him the win.  If Leroy wins cool, but I really don't care if he does or does not.

Honestly out of the guys left I would rather see Corey or Kyle win.  As for the women, I honestly don't care who wins.  I mean I would rather Kam or Kaycee not win but if they do it would not upset me.  I would just be like, "Oh look they won."

This season is dragging but the other choice on MTV is Rediculousness and I would rather TJ surprise us and bring back the first 4 eliminated players to battle it out for Gold Skulls than watch one episode of Rediculousness.

I wish I could give this comment like four thousand thumbs up because no truer words have been spoken.

I know this passed a while ago, but I always laughed when MTV would show commercials for that Korean boy band group BTS having an episode of Unplugged with them on it.  Now I have only heard two songs from that group but I stand by this comment.  How can that group do an Unplugged episode when they are so overly produced and sing with auto tune?  They sound terrible with the auto tune, what fresh layer of hell must they sound like without it?

Plus as someone who saw Nirvana on Unplugged, I am highly insulted that they put the horse crap of a band BTS on an episode.😄

Jesus, the egos on Kaycee and Fessy are out of control. And they said Amber was acting entitled? Hahahahaha hahahahaha.

CT continues to get on my nerves. How patronizing for him to school Big T on getting in shape. Why not get his own ass moving too, instead of just watching her exercise? Like he hasn’t shown up out of shape more than once. Suddenly he’s a workout expert?

I liked Kaycee during Big Brother and during her first season on the Challenge (This is her second right?  Or am I mistaken) but yeah this season the ego is just getting to me.

I can understand people getting more excited for Jisela falling down the bus steps than this episode. Double Agents isn't bad per se, but it's been a disappointment. Once again, I'm chalking that up to players having to leave early. Otherwise, there would have been more people vying to stay in the game by now.

I watched that clip and I had no clue who Jisela was.  I don't remember her at all, she was the only one.

I am at the same point.  I mean I am still watching, but I question why I am still watching.  It's like last year's season of Big Brother after Janelle and Kaysar went, I keep on watching out of habit but I honestly am beyond caring what the outcome is.  That is why I have not been posting in the episode threads, because I have nothing valid to say (Though I guess I never have anything valid to say, so I guess that is a poor statement to make about not posting.).

You’ve just described Fessy’s BB game as well.  He was part of the majority alliance which kept getting picked off by the minority alliance  Kaycee was in, each and every week but one and every week he was shocked, shocked by who went home.  Btw, Kaycee was no mastermind.  She kept her head down, played a good low key game and didn’t try to win anything until it mattered to stay safe.  She also stayed loyal to the actual mastermind who took her to the end, but who then lost the vote because 1) he was behind the votes and 2) he had fallen in love and cared more about her than winning at that point.

But it's kind of hard to pair "goofy challenges" with "All Stars".  I don't even know how they can call it All Stars, tbh, without the more recent Challenge big winners like John, Wes, and even Ashley.  It's Old Stars, and that's what we wanted in the first place!

That was what I was coming on here to say, calling them All-Stars is a bit of a stretch.  But I guess if Big Brother could call that cluster fuck of a cast from last season All-Stars, then MTV can call this group All-Stars.  The Old Stars got a huge laugh from me.

I love Nany. I always hope she makes it far and eventually gets a win. I want to see her finally take home a win.

HOWEVER... I will say that I’m with you on Nany winning her skull.

I have my favorites but I like my drama better. I always want the least popular thing to happen because it creates drama. I kinda wanted Nany to lose because just about everybody in the house wanted to her to win. I wanted Devin to win last week because everybody in the house wanted him to lose. I wanted Josh in elimination because the majority alliance wanted him safe (...and because he’s Josh). I want all that because I love watching the game be flipped on it’s head.

Everybody’s expect Fessy to beast through a final. Fine! Then I want him to lose.

Nobody expects Big T to win an elimination so I want her to go down and win her skull... and even one better, WIN THE FINAL!

I am normally neutral/in favor of Nany.  I did want to see her lose because pretty much the entire house were backing her.  Like you said it creates drama.  Which, for the most part, is in short supply this season when it comes to votes and who wins in elimination challenges.  The majority seems to get it's way all season long.

I honestly don't think Fessy is going to win this season.  Editing makes me think it could be Leroy or maybe even Darrell.  Which by the way, is Darrell the only Road Rules person still doing the show on a semi-regular basis?

While I understand why no one wants Aneesa as a partner (she obviously isn’t in the shape needed to do well in a final), I hate seeing everyone trash her.

Aneesa will always have a special place in my heart because her Real World season was the first one I watched from start to finish.  Prior to her season I would watch an episode here and there but never an entire season straight through.  So I fully agree with you, while Aneesa is not in shape to run a final it still sucks to see everyone trash her.

There really is not much to say about this episode.  I guess I am in the minority here, in that I did not want to see Nany win her skull and I did not think of it as a feel good moment.  Mainly because everyone in the peanut gallery was cheering for her.  Also, Nany had the numbers to go in pretty much whenever she wanted to do so but chose not to go in and I think she knew she had the connections to choose when she wanted to go in.

Fun fact: Michele dated both Jay and Wendell. The latter was made uncomfortably clear during the last season of Survivor. I continue to find it interesting that Michele was rumored to be on Challenge 33, and then she and Jay were dropped days before departure. And I'm sure they won't bring up how Michele's buddies (including Wendell) conspired to get Natalie to lose Survivor 40. But I hope Natalie remembers that and smokes all of them.

Michele was also defying COVID protocols in the early days of the pandemic, so she'd fit right in with Josh and Kaycee.

I know this is not a Survivor thread but still.  Natalie did not deserve to win Survivor 40, hell she did not even deserve to finish in second place.  I am not saying this because I dislike her, I would be saying this about anyone who came back Edge of Extinction.  I am still annoyed that, that one dude (I always forget his name and I am too lazy to look it up) won his season after spending nearly the entire season on Edge of Extinction.

Still it is part of the game but Tony outplayed everyone that season and I am not even a huge fan of Tony.  But Natalie's name should not have even been anywhere near the conversation for winning that season.  If anything, Michelle got royally screwed because she should have finished in second place.  Because her and Tony had to play the actual game.

  9. I don't think I rolled my eyes more than when Kam said something along the lines of, "I like people to be humble."  Paraphrasing what she said but it was something like that.  I am thinking to myself, "Kam do you have any sort of self awareness in your body?"  She might be one of the least humble people there.

I hate seeing what happened to Big T.  I have a soft spot for her even when she was acting like a jerk when she got power a few weeks ago.  I just find her to be very cute and I like her personality and it sucks seeing CT dog her like that.  Not switching partners but the way he went about it and I have always liked CT.  Hell the reason why I liked CT in the first place was because he hated Adam all the way back in Paris and I could not stand Adam.  So even when CT was a huge raging asshole I liked him, but this took him down some pegs in my book.

For those who watch Big Brother did anyone get major Cappy gone/Jessie widows vibes when Nany and the other women were crying over Josh's elimination?  What is it about Josh that everyone loves?  I watched this guy for what four seasons of television and while he is not as bad as he was on Big Brother, I still view him as a piece of crap.  Yet everyone he meets has this odd undying loyalty to him.  I just don't get it.

Nam brother you are an awesome guy and I hate to see someone like you go out like that.  I hope he comes back because unlike Kam, this dude is the textbook definition of humble.  I always say if I were to hang out with someone from the show I would probably pick Leroy.  Well you could add Nam to that list, such a good dude and as a fellow suffer of back pain I know full well what it is like to have that happen to you.

Also, please don't let Gabby fall to the curse of Corey.  I have a thing for British girls (See Big T, Georgia, Melissa) and I would hate to see her go.

You’re correct. Anyone who isn’t sure, you can go back and check—TJ has never told them whether it’s going to be a male or female elimination day until they’re already in the crater with players selected. At one point Tori and Devin (I believe) even flat out asked him and he wouldn’t reveal. Part of the game is that it’s a calculated risk every time you go down there, because you don’t know if it will be you or your partner (or both, which I feel is a twist that’s probably coming soon). However, the players can make educated guesses based on the gender of the rogue agent, how many people of that gender have departed for medical or health reasons recently, and the number of skulls that have been given out. For instance, I think the feeling in the house that it would be women this time stemmed from the fact that the women were still behind the men in terms of gold skulls by two, even though they had just had two women’s days in a row.

Lolo is a disaster. The thing is, you can tell that she’s actually either been to therapy or read self help books because of the language she’s using—you’re not accepting my whole self, if you reject parts of me you don’t respect me, etc. However, she’s completely misapplying all of it. It seems pretty clear that Lolo is unable to see anyone’s perspective other than her own, so she perceives anyone disagreeing with her, or even not completely supporting her every move, as some sort of betrayal that she needs to bring to their attention so they can correct. She’s exhausting, I imagine to herself as well. I have no idea how she competes in high level athletics on a team. She has no people skills whatsoever. Nam is a saint.

I honestly don’t know what Devin’s goal was here. He basically handed someone who has it in for his partner an incredibly easy skull, and I don’t see how it benefited him or his alliance at all. For all his talk about how smart he is and how much he loves power, this might be the most ineffective use of the double agent power so far this season. I have no idea why Gabby went along with it. She basically used the power in such a way that she’s worse off now than when she started, a bit like Jay. She should have forced the tie and seen what happened. She couldn’t have been much worse off regardless.

That puzzle really didn’t look as hard as these people were making it.

Actually I am wrong, because I thought for sure TJ told them.  I would love to chalk it up to me getting the seasons confused or something like that, but I was flat out wrong.😄  By what you just said and by what Joanne says in the next quoted post below.

I just listened to the first episode's Challenge podcast with Tori and Aneesa and they said they weren't told, which is why they picked Wes and CT.  Traditionally in past challenges it has always been guys elimination first then girls. They were all shocked when it was a girl elimination.

I dislike them both equally the same.

Is anyone team Josh? Does anyone actually watch the show and root for him?

The only time I was ever team Josh was when he was on Big Brother.  And that was only during the first and last episodes of the season he won.  I was team Josh during the first episode as he was targeted for early elimination and I thought he was slow (I am not trying to be mean here or not PC, I just cannot think of a better term to call him without being an asshole).  I wanted to see him get a chance.  Then I over the course of the season I came to realize what an asshole he was.  During the final episode I was team Josh because he was, if you can believe this, in a final three with two people who were even more odious than him.

One was a woman with mental problems who tried to/actually did (?) try to run someone over with a car.  The other person was a hateful troll.  So yeah Josh was the best out of the worst.

I know Hall Brawl is a fan favorite, but all I can think about is spinal cord injury and brain trauma.

As @aghst said, Hall Brawl is often mismatched which makes me not want to see it.  I watch MMA and I would not bat an eye at the violence that happens in a fight, but there are weight classes there and they are trained athletes.  On this show you have people like shorter Amber going in against Amber B. and Amber B. saying, "Yeah I play rugby."  I thought it was a mismatch before that talking head, but once I heard that I was like, "Good god short Amber is going to be destroyed."  That to me is not interesting to watch.

Just like if they were to put Devin against CT.  I would not want to see that happen.

I’m very confused. I feel like in the first few craters they told the people whether it was male or female day. Then they appear to have stopped doing that. But tonight, all the commentary once they were at the crater seemed to indicate the cast knew it was a girls day. I understand Gabby’s decision IF they were unsure whether it was guys or girls day, but there was no discussion at the crater about that reasoning. Just about her being intimidated by hall brawl. Something seems amiss.

At the start of the season TJ absolutely told them if it was going to be a male or female day.  So you are correct and are not missing anything.  I think he stopped doing it during the third or fourth week.

Daily Challenge was good.  A bit of luck to find the right ones though the alliances were helping each other.

Lolo thinks her “intensity” is a great thing.  Sure it’s focus and work to be an elite athlete.  But “intensity” to others is her nagging, high-maintenance, over dramatic personality.  In this game and also away from world-class athletics, those latter attributes are a huge detriment.  Her plea didn’t convince anyone to vote her in.

I would love to see that daily challenge as an Individual Challenge on Survivor.  I kept on thinking about that as they were doing that challenge.

That is probably why a lot of great players make for terrible coaches/managers.

I love how Nany was all ticked off about Gabby not going in.  But Nany chose to keep herself out until now as well.  You can't get all indignant now that your window is closing to get a skull.  I mean she probably could have easily gotten voted in during an earlier challenge with all of the allies she has.  She has been playing the scared game as well.

Okay episode. I'm okay with Kaycee not being exciting. Compared to the dummies that have also been on Big Brother, I'm good with her.

Is Double Agents officially the season of mental health awareness? Now we got Theresa and her post-partum depression. I'm good with her as well. I'm thinking that I'm not into the show deep enough to where she can be considered an outright villain or annoyance.

Trivia Mission was boiled down to true/false, which was for the best. I was thinking Nam would be out early, mostly because Teege tends to go for American pop culture knowledge. But he won his heat . . . mostly because everyone around him hated each other and Kam couldn't keep her hands off the corners of her restraint thing. Darrell winds up winning, and Amber B. gets free Whoppers for life because of it. That ain't right, man. I'm thinking there aren't many Burger Kings in Germany, but Nam deserved that more than she did. Kaycee probably could have been kicked off the show for thinking wolves ate plants. And Big T was adorable while screaming for her life.

For all the talk of the rookies and their drama, none of them have a Skull. And even if Natalie had stayed in the game, I'd consider her a cut above them. Kaycee got hers, making it three for the veteran BB alumni. Devin will probably get extra bitchy about that in the first minutes of next week's episode.

Anyone else feel like playing "Partner No. 5" for Cory?

The was my first reaction as well.  I thought, "Well Nam doesn't have a chance here because it deals with our pop culture."  I was happy I was wrong though.

Kam irked me about the Kama comment.  For one I do not believe in kama because people do bad shit all of the time and nothing seems to happen to them.  Also, how arrogant does one have to believe that the universe will smite your enemies just because they wronged you?

Not happy about Josh getting his skull but in the words of the late Randy "Macho Man" Savage, "It is, what it is."

I wonder what the strategy is going to be for the guys who do not have their skulls.  Do Darrell, Nam, CT, and the others try to take the skulls of someone like Fessy who might be hard to beat in a final or do you go after someone like Josh or Devin who while you might have a better shot at beating them.  You would eliminated a weaker person who could  be in the finals with you.

Frankly, I think cameos are so silly. I don't care how much I might like a "celebrity", the thought of paying someone to send me or someone I know a two minute video to basically just say "Hi, I know you exist", is not in the least bit appealing, especially knowing that they will probably forget your name as soon as they stop recording.

Same here, I just don't get the appeal of Cameo.  Plus even if I was interested in it, you never know what you are going to get.  I was listening to a segment from a wrestling podcast and they played a Jerry Lawler (He is a wrestling legend, the guy who slapped Andy Kaufman on Letterman all those years ago.) Cameo.  He really put a lot of effort into the Cameo and it lasted at least five minutes.  They then played a Cameo from another wrestler (I honestly forgot who it was, but it was someone who was a star in the wrestling world) and that Cameo only lasted a half a minute long.  So yeah I think the whole thing is a waste of money.

I started watching this a.m. at work (just to hear something other than the air from the vents!) and caught Season 1 on Pluto myself. starting with the episode just after Gretchen had been voted off.   The challenges were MUCH more difficult and yet far more interesting than the current crop of obstacle course and solve the puzzle.  The run through the jungle to answer questions about local folklore, or the one where they literally had to answer personal questions at the Tribal Council to win immunity.  Not only that, the final three walking to the immunity challenge was much more spiritual than it is now.  I completely forgot how really good this show was at the beginning.

And as much as I dislike Richard Hatch for his post-Survivor behavior, there is no question he was a genius in his planning and machinations.  And I may be alone in my (almost) equal dislike for Kelly Wigglesworth.  Her confessionals of angst and pathetic tooth gnashing over being part of the alliance was a little much for me.  Without that alliance, she would never have advanced in the game, as she would have been seen as a threat as much as Gretchen was and been taken out probably as early.  That's not to say that I don't give her full props for her immunity wins.  I just don't like her.  Oh, and Rudy, Sue and Rich could just as easily picked another person to form the alliance with and she would have been gone after the merge.

I never watched the first season when it aired live (I saw bits of episodes here and there.  Mainly because I live in Rhode Island and with Richard being from here he was an even bigger deal than he was nationally.  So I felt obligated to watch a little bit of it.), my first full season was the Amazon (Though I did watch the final episode of Thailand and as stated before, I saw some of season one.).  In fact, the first time I saw Sue, Rich, Jenna, and Rudy was on All-Stars.  I finally did by the season one DVD shortly after All-Stars.

When I finally did see season one I immediately disliked Kelly W., I am not sure why but I just did.  Maybe it was like you said about how she would complain about being in an alliance.  I also fell hard for Colleen, I just loved her personality and she was cute as well which did not hurt.

My favorite first season challenge was the folklore one.  Because I would have been like Rudy.  I would not have paid attention to the story at all and then I would have run around saying, "I don't know."

  21. I wonder if the Nam thing was something to do with being from Germany.   I mean I only speak English (Some would argue that I hardly speak English correctly) but he has to speak at the very least two if not more languages (A lot of Europeans I have come into contact with can speak four or five languages).  When I get yelled at I sometimes get flustered so to be yelled at in your non-native language has to be tough to process.  Then you add on a grueling challenge on top of it, I really do not blame him for having lack of communication with Lolo.  Plus from what little they have shown of him on the show, he seems like a very easygoing guy who might just want to avoid confrontation.

Or he could be intentionally fucking with her, which is probably something I would do but he does not seem to be the malicious type.

In regards to Kam, like @luckyroll3 said, I tend to not mind Kam.  The Killer Kam stuff can be annoying but I watch wrestling and I always kind of viewed that as her gimmick.  But after this season I am starting to wonder if it has become more of a gimmick and she is going Cara Maria on us.  I hope not but who knows.

I thought Kam said that Leroy's back was basically shot.  If that is the case I highly doubt he would be back again win or lose.  As someone who occasionally gets pretty bad back pain, it is no joke.  Two years ago around Thanksgiving time I was in bed for about a month or so.  Then right as my back started to feel better it seems like lockdown started.   So while most people hated 2020, I hated 2019 and 2020.

I think that Theresa made a good move, personally. It may be short-sighted and it probably wasn’t good for Jay but she made sure there was one less strong girl there. I appreciated that she actually made a move as I feel like everybody plays a scared game these days.

There’s also a 0% chance that Ashley would NOT have voted in Theresa if she won IMO. I kind of think everybody’s a hypocrite. They’re just upset when these things happen to them. As far as I can tell, Theresa had no real ties to Kam and Ashley so I feel fine about this move.

Exactly and this is why this is laughable.  Everyone needs a skull to advance but they are upset when they do not control the opportunity to get it.  Then they bitch about someone throwing them into a challenge that they needed to do anyway.

Kam came across as being really entitled in this episode.

Thanks y'all. I haven't watched BB since season 2 (with Dr. Will), so I don't know none of these folks until they show up being assholes on The Challenge.

Honestly even though I become obsessed (TM Tommy Bracco) with the show almost every summer, you haven't missed much.  In the twenty years that you have missed there have been maybe four or five really good seasons (Seasons 3, 6, 10, and Fessy/Kaycee's season 20) the rest have been either somewhat watchable to just plain horrible (Too many seasons would fall into this section but Josh's season 20 and seasons 21 and 22 are really bad).

As I was saying before the final three during the season that Josh won might very well be the worst final three out of any show in the history of reality television.  It had three of the most unlikable assholes to ever grace television as the final three.  Okay I know this is not a BB thread so back to the actual show I am meant to talk about...

On another subject, I know I've complained a bit about how much athleticism The Challenge now requires, but truly that is just because I think we lose some of the personalities we might see otherwise, and I also accept that this show has evolved.  I get it.  But I really do not like seeing things like Hall Brawl.  I understand that any of these challenges can lead to injury, but some of these are just too brutal and the likelihood of someone getting hurt becomes LIKELY, not just possible.  I don't enjoy boxing or football or hockey (and other such sports) because I don't think it's ok to put human beings in situations that are going to harm them for sport.  I just don't see how they can keep doing these brutal challenges without someone getting seriously injured.  I'd rather see them jump around on tractor trailers where there's a chance someone might dislocate a shoulder versus people doing physical things like tackling when they don't know how to do it without a high likelihood of real injury.

I don't mind something like Hall Brawl if the two people are evenly matched or somewhat evenly matched.  Nelson/Fessy are somewhat evenly matched so I did not have a problem with them.   But I would cringe if say it was someone like Jay or Mechie going against Fessy or CT.

The challenge that took out Nicole and Liv I was not fond of.  Even before both of them got injured, I had a strong feeling that there were going to be folks getting hurt in that challenge.

I watch MMA and other contact sports and I have no problem with them putting themselves in harms way because they are highly trained athletes who know the risks (Well until recently a lot of football players did not know the risk but that is a whole other topic.).  I do not enjoy seeing people on a reality show being put in certain situations because while a lot of the contestants are in fantastic shape, they have not been training for this their entire life, can you really train for some of these challenges, and that's what makes me wish they would ease back on some of these challenges.

Josh continues to be arguably the worst and most annoying cast member of all-time. He starts arguments simply for camera time. Which isn’t unusual, but the guy has such a delusional opinion of his ability. He’s always searching for rivals, but his biggest rival will always be his fat tongue and trying not to choke or bite on it when he talks.

He is actually pretty tame on The Challenge.  He was a hell of a lot more annoying on Big Brother.  But to tell you how loathsome the people were on his season of Big Brother.  I absolutely despised Josh, yet once he was in the final three I wanted him to win so bad.  Because the other two people in the final three were even worse.  The guy he beat was the one who controlled Josh and told him what to do to get under people's skin.  The other member of the final three was a chick who I think might be a legit psychopath.  So yeah that tells you how bad that season was, when I was beyond thrilled that Josh picked up the win.
