  1. After my completion of New Who, I've been going back and watching a lot of Classic Who.  I just completed Tom Baker's first season as the Doctor (Season 12), which included the awesome Genesis of the Daleks serial.  I can see why Tom Baker's portrayal is so well regarded.  Sarah Jane was a great companion, a lot more proactive than some of the previous female companions.  And I thought Harry Sullivan was an underrated companion as well.  Up next for me is Terror of the Zygons.

Of the first three Doctors, I like Troughton the best.  I can definitely see where Matt Smith was influenced by him.  Troughton was a joy to watch.  I particularly liked The Mind Robbers and The Enemy of the World.  I almost think Jamie was a terrific companion for him, more like a buddy to the 2nd Doctor.

I agree, what I have been able to watch of him he is my favorite out of all of the Doctors.  If I had to say my top three I would go with Troughton, Peter Davidson, and Jon Pertwee.

I liked War Games but I can understand why people would find it boring.  It did drag a bit in the middle, but I loved how they forced him to become the Third Doctor.

In regards to Genesis of the Daleks, that might be my favorite serial from the original show.

  2. Can't speak for anyone else, but to me her unattractiveness has very little to do with her physical appearance. Her passing similarity to an 80s-vintage Geddy Lee is simply a snark bonus.

ETA: Similarity, not appearance. Hadn't had my coffee yet.

Crap I never made that connection but now that you have said it, yes she very much does look like Geddy Lee.  Thank you for the laugh.

  3. As for Jocasta, she needs to get it together or just self evict.  I refuse to talk shit about her alliance, because it feels like I'll be struck with a bolt of lightening, locusts or a plague or something.

Thank you for this, I laughed more about it than anyone should but it is a funny comment.

  4. Oh my God, is that Rocker quote legit? Like, from 2014? This country, I swear.

I still don't quite know how to react to the return of the Twinnies. They are scrappy as heck, which I appreciate, but their screeching or shrieking or whatever you call it makes Rachel Reilly seem like a deaf-mute in comparison.

Not that it makes much of a difference because nobody could defend that quote, but I think he made it in the late 90's-early 00's.  I think I was in college when he made that quote because I remember talking about it and so it had to be right around that time.  I am thinking 1999 for some reason but I do not know for sure.

  5. Wait are the Twinnies actually going to be on the show?  Is that a legit spoiler?  If so I am not sure I will watch, especially if they both make it deep into the game.

  6. It seems a little unfair when it comes to picking Have Nots this season. The HGs have pretty much exempted Christine, because she's gluten intolerant and can't eat the slop, and Frankie, because of a circulatory problem. I know at one point in the beginning of the feeds, Christine said she would still be a HN, despite not being able to eat slop, and I have no doubt that BB would make some exceptions and give her something else to eat. Haven't they done it for other people who suddenly have issues with slop? Frankie tried to nap in the HN room, and ended up with some seriously frozen fingers. The HN room was most likely chosen long before, but it seems a bit unfair that two of them get a pass. I think at one point, Christine said she even told BB during pre-interviews that she would be fine with slop if she got in the house, but of course, she also knew she couldn't eat it. And Jocasta is probably getting a pass because of her current issues.

It's stuff like this that makes me wish they would just do away with the HNs and hold some other type of food challenge, limiting what they can have or can't have, rather than force slop on them. Instead of the HN room, institute a curfew for them (actually, that would kinda suck for the feeds). Keep the cold showers, but the slop is useless. As much fun as it was to see Zach turn into the biggest, whiniest baby less than 24 hours into being a HN, all you ever hear is the HNs bitching about the lack of food choices, the crappy beds, the cold showers.

For those wondering, it sounds like Caleb, Amber, Devin, and Donny will be the HNs this week. Caleb and Amber volunteered, and then Caleb tried to get out of it, saying he didn't want them to have to stay in the HN room with Devin. Dude, you should've thought about that before you threw your name in the hat, bro.

I agree with getting rid of the Have Nots Challenge.  Or if they keep it maybe punish them in different ways so that it does not screw with their sleep.

I think they should just stop with the slop.  Make them eat bread and water like they did in the first couple of seasons.

  7. I'm confused about the theme song. What theme song? I don't remember a theme song with words ever being a part of the show.

    What am I missing?

I never saw season one but I remember reading that there were lyrics for the season one theme song.  So when I was reading this thread I thought they were talking about that.  I guess I was wrong about him singing that song but I still believe that season one's son had lyrics.

  8. I hate those stupid Sprint family (Heck even the autocorrect on this site hates the word because when I just wrote it, the autocorrect corrected it.) commercials.  Why the hell is there a woman married to a hamster?

I do have to admit I did laugh during one of the commercials when the guy said his name was Gor Don and not Gordon because I know people who insist on having people pronounce their normal names in a messed up manner.

  9. I was never a huge fan of Cochran but I was so happy when he flipped because I disliked the other members on his tribe more.  I also hated how they treated him like crap.  The only one I felt bad for was Dawn.

That being said I am not sure that Kass' situation was the same or at least from what we the viewers were shown.  It looked like Kass was in a sweet spot as she seemed tight with the other brains and she might have had a good path to the finals.  She threw it out the window because her feelings were hurt not because her teammates constantly treated her like crap, but because she was marginalized just once.

Cochran's flip reminds me more of Shambo's flip.  In that both where looked down upon by their initial tribe and so when they had the chance to jump they took it.

  10. I actually got into Survivor because I stated watching the American version of Big Brother (Though I did see the merge episode in season one, but that was mostly because Richard is from my home state and I wanted to see what was the big deal about this guy who everyone was talking about.).  I figured if I could get into Big Brother, then I would be able to get into Survivor which everyone told me was much better than Big Brother.  Well that proved to be the truth as Survivor: Amazon got me hooked and I have only missed one episode since (When Willard was voted out during season ten.)

I was once one of those snobs that looked down at reality television as complete trash (Even though I am a wrestling fan, no I cannot explain that either.).  Which in some cases it is the truth but I will still watch pretty much any competitive reality show they put on television.  Hell I just sat through the entire season of Bad Girls Club All-Stars 2 and prior to that I watched every episode of Opposite Worlds, so that tells you I will watch damn near anything.
