  1. Yes, I've seen pretty much seen everything Luke has done. He's my favorite actor. :) I still remember when he posted the first photo of him with blonde hair, and everyone freaked out. I hated it at first, but then once it started to grow out a little, I actually like it! And I think it's very striking in black and white photos. But his natural dark hair is the best. And now it's got a nice salt and pepper to it. :)
  2. Ahh that's probably my second favorite clip of him singing. I'm never deleting it off my DVR! Second favorite would be him singing Delilah, and third is him and Hugh Jackman singing Gaston on a UK talk show. He loves to sing. :) Dakota said Luke would break out into song when they called cut, and would make up songs about the scene they were filming. Honorable mention goes to Luke singing When We Were Young by Adele, back when he had blonde hair. Sorry, but Luke singing is one of my favorite things in the world, and I could make a list of probably 20 videos.
  3. I miss the show too. It comes to Netflix outside the US in two weeks, so maybe we'll get some new posters then. They've been promoting it a little, and Luke Evans posted this BTS shot. I started watching The Terror on AMC, but it's not nearly as good as The Alienist. If this show doesn't get some Emmy or Golden Globe noms, even for set decoration, I'm going to be very annoyed.
  4. It left a large seal for her, not a rat. I was on the fence about whether it was an actual bear or a monster. I thought this show was suppose to be based on fact, so I didn't know if they would actually add a monster to the story. It reminds me of the smoke monster in Lost.
  5. For some of them, I think it is a uniform, but the Zweig boy was brought to Laszlo because he wanted to dress as a girl, although he wasn't a prostitute. And Georgio was kicked out of his home because his father called him a girl. So I think those two were either cross-dressers, transgender or gay. John and Laszlo had a discussion about it regarding Georgio, but they didn't know the answer, because really only Georgio could answer that. And because there's one more episode after this, I'll put this behind a spoiler cut...
  6. Poor Joseph. And poor monkey. It's not surprising that Joseph is at the institute, and is having nightmares. But I'm glad they didn't end the show with that scene. It would have been too dark and depressing. I also hope that Ezra gets sent to live elsewhere!
  7. There's no need to be so sarcastic about it. I was just trying to be helpful by stating that perhaps Jack was meant to have a bigger role than what was shown. We clearly have different feelings about that scene. I liked it, you clearly didn't. Although I would have gladly traded it for a final scene with Joseph. Even if it was just a quick mention of him. Sorry but I don't remember the writers saying that John was an alcoholic long before Julia left him or that his brother died long before he met Julia. If you can remember in what interviews they stated that, I'd be interested in watching them.
  8. Do you remember when or where Daniel stated that? I agree about Carr. He seems super cranky. I just hope TNT has the rights to the characters and can continue the story how they want. I cannot picture Laszlo dating at all! I feel like it would be a series of comedic errors. I'd also love to hear why people think John and Sara should be together. I don't really feel any romantic tension between them.
  9. I didn't take it the way you did at all. Jack says something about how John is quite familiar with seducing women. John replies, If you're referring to Julia, I believe you're more familiar than I. John is basically saying, I didn't seduce Julia, you did. John and Julia were engaged, probably had a typical courtship, and more than likely didn't have an intimate relationship. John was just sticking up for himself. He's not the one who seduces women, it's Jack. Also, I wonder if Jack was cut from earlier episodes. There's a cut scene where John and Gram are at the silent auction, and John is glowering at someone. I wouldn't be surprised if he ran into Jack there. I also have doubts that John was an alcoholic before Julia left him. He told Gram he was just seeing himself through a rough patch, which implies he wasn't a heavy drinker before. Julia leaving him probably brought up all his abandonment issues, and made him turn to alcohol and sex with prostitutes.
  10. I would like to see John's relationship with Joseph. I don't know if he would necessarily be living with John and Gram, although that could be interesting. He more than likely would be staying at a place similar to Laszlo's institute. But he could come for visits and he and Gram could could play cards and eat fig newtons. :) I'd like to see Sara still working at the police department and hopefully having more responsibility. Maybe there could be a few other women working there too. Teddy would still be there, and would be more tough and gregarious. Perhaps John did start writing again and is going to try to get published. He probably has less work as an illustrator with the camera becoming more popular. I don't really want to see him with Sara, so hopefully they're just friends, with Sara focusing on her career I'm not sure about Laszlo. I imagine not much has changed for him, although hopefully he's more open and friendly. And of course another murder comes along, and the group, including the Isaacsons, reassembles to solve it.
  11. At the end of the 'Inside the Episode ' video for season 1, episode 10, the director/executive producer says:
  12. Egg creams contain neither egg nor cream.
  13. Sorry for the crappy quality of this pic, but I thought the tic was pretty awful looking! Especially since it looked like it was really painful. Also, I find anything that reveals the teeth like that to be icky. I wasn't sure where to put this, but Luke posted this video from filming his last scene with Dakota. The end of the video is 100%, quintessential Luke Evans! :) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bgy0EVIhFsm/?taken-by=thereallukeevans
  14. I thought it was a great scene because we got to see John standing up for himself. Normally he's all wide-eyed and speechless, but here he had no problem standing up to a well-to-do socialite, which I'm sure won't help his own social standing. Astor had an affair with John's fiance, and he has the gall to ask John to have a drink with him? Astor's lucky that John is such a gentleman. I think the scene helps to show that John is content with who he is now, and knows who his real friends are and knows what's important in life.
  15. I think there's the mentality, even now, that any disgraced officer reflects poorly on the police as a whole, and lessens the public's faith in them. So I can see Roosevelt wanting to put a positive spin on the whole thing in order to make the police look better. In one of the previews, they showed John coming to Laszlo, begging him, "Help me save this boy". I wish they wouldn't have cut that scene. But it seems that they cut out quite a few scenes. Do they ever have director's cuts for TV shows? :)
  16. Wow, that was some nail biting drama there! I loved seeing John be so worried about Joseph, and how relieved he was when he found him. I would have liked a little scene of them together at the end. I think I'm the only one who didn't want to see John and Sara get together. Although that kiss was super sweet and tender. I liked how Sara said that John was really only in love with what he doesn't have, and he didn't deny it. John taking her carriage was cute! If they had shown more of that version of Sara we had seen in the end, maybe I would have been more on board with them as a pairing. I thought it was a bit overkill (pardon the pun) at first to have Sara be involved in her father's suicide, but then when she shot Connor (yea!!!!) and Teddy made his comment about how she could always do what had to be done, it made more sense. I'm kinda disappointed that we never found out why Japheth murdered the boys, and what water had to do with it. And why he doesn't like tabbys! I guess some things are just meant to be a mystery.
  17. I think Sara understood why he slapped her. Not that it makes it OK. Dakota said she talked to Daniel about that scene, and neither of them took it as an act of violence, but of just him not knowing how to react to all the emotion he was feeling. But I still hope he apologizes at some point!
  18. I thought this quote from Carr was interesting. It's like he only wanted to continue the story if it could be made into a film or show. But from what I've read about the 3rd and 4th book, it would be hard to film them as part of the same series as the 1st and 2nd book. I'm sorry but this made me chuckle. Luke Evans has had some big roles in some big movies: Beauty and the Beast, The Hobbit, Dracula Untold, The Three Musketeers, Clash of the Titans. But I'm glad you are enjoying his performance! :)
  19. TNT calls it a Limited Series, and here's an explanation: So there's still hope for a season 2!
  20. I definitely want a second season, and the actors have all said they're up for doing another. A second season would definitely be cheaper to film, since they already have all the sets built. They could do the second book, which takes place a year after the first one, or they could write an entirely new script. But I wonder if the author would allow that. It seems like TNT only has the rights to the first book. But reading this article, it seems that Carr is interested in having all the books made into a show or movie. But then he also said “My contribution was neither sought or when it was volunteered, paid attention to.” so I'm not sure how willing he would be to hand over his second and third book for adaptation.
  21. If they don't save Joseph, I'm going to riot. This episode was very intense. I need some time to decompress. I'm proud of John. He didn't get his ass whooped and is turning into quite the detective. :)
  22. I'm bummed that they cut out this scene with John being all heroic. I'm not really sure how it would have fit into the scene, but maybe they thought it was too out of character for John.
  23. I watched all the episodes again and took screenshots to compare. I am pretty sure the Swede is the one who also shot at the carriage. He's definitely the one that was following them on the train. He was dressed the same and had the same ring. Maybe he followed the carriage, and saw that John and Laszlo escaped, so he went back to NYC, told Connor that they were still alive, so they went to Laszlo's house to finish the job. It doesn't really make sense though that they were just going to drug Cyrus and Stevie instead of killing them.
  24. The killer only took one or two drawings from it, but left the notebook behind. I don't think we ever saw Connor pick it up.
  25. I think it's a matter of preference. From what I've read, most American Indians prefer the term American Indian over Native American, and many don't mind just Indian. However, American Indian helps distinguish them from people from India.
