  1. The show has made me want to read the books as they are written by a psychiatrist. I feel that the books probably go into more depth with Max's other patients.
  2. My random thoughts after part one: Leah must be the one not wanting to marry as we see that she is more sociable than Max and men enjoy being around her. But your boss and your sister? Poor Max. Glad to see the writers acknowledge the handsomeness of our police inspector. Poisonings are usually done by women. I absolute hate how PBS cuts the episodes in half. Wish they could air the 2 hour BBC version.
  3. Leah's husband died in a war(?). Her son is off at boarding school.
  4. The whole treasure seemed like a MacGuffin. Hopefully BBC will renew this again. The next book in the series seems well tailored for TV.
  5. I'm guessing they both thought the treasury was in lost in the river. Happy to see there is one more episode left. Hoping that the BBC renews it again as I love me some Max/Oskar and I can hope that Clara finds another beau. I like her as an asset to the cases but they need to stop the pseudo-romance storyline.
  6. Can someone tell me what happened to the Chinese bar/opium den owner? Did she leave with the treasure? Why did Oskar just let her go? Based on her comments, I"m surprised our duo didn't piece her involvement in getting the treasure.I think I missed a scene somewhere. And a nice homage to The Third Man(again) with the villain running hurt in the sewers. The writers must default to the Harry Lime character whenever they need an ending for a villain. First the ferris wheel, now the sewers. I hope Max's sister Leah can play a bigger part in the mysteries. She seems rather a fun character and certainly better matched with our duo than the boring Clara with the on/off relationship. Plus I've loved the actress since her days on Ripper Street as Rose.
  7. I'm loving this series and I got my parents watching it too. I'm also glad that Max is not with either woman as he tends to be better as a single man. And as an Oskar fangirl, may he finally get some loving! I'd had to laugh at Max's family butting in his business. Very real.
  8. Surprised they got that through the censors, but maybe PBS doesn't know the British connotation.
  9. I really liked this even more than Dark. There is so much psychological stuff involved. For those who don't like puzzles it's probably dull, but I'm loving it and the songs fit perfect and everyone is really pretty-and good actors. What I thought was interesting was she had to correct herself from saying she WAS a doctor. Hmm. Honestly, I think the show is easier to follow than their last one but I'm guessing it will probably be better to wait until all seasons are done to understand it. I've read several people think it's dull but I don't see it. It's more like a mystery that drops clues and hints and doesn't reveal much until S2 or S3. At least the creators know the ending. I'll never forgive myself for watching all 11 seasons of the X-Files and thinking there was a cohesive story. And what they did to GA in the last episode was criminal. But I digress.
  10. I thought Charles was going to poison her drink but it's typical Agatha Christie-confront the killer fare. Unrealistic but it's a bit like Poirot. I watched the behind the scenes part after the credits and had to go back and watch again as I totally miss Mr. Horowitz in the funeral scenes. Some detective I'd make.
  11. I absolutely loved this and so did my eighty year old parents. Felt very Poirot-like, given that Horowitz adapted some of the stories to TV. Hoping it does well enough for another season as Miss Scarlett has really gone downhill for me after starting out promising. I'm also hoping that PBS airs the next season of Vienna Blood, starring Jack from MM.
  12. I'm betting those tunnels are time tunnels. Perhaps that's how the Weeping Angels came to Liverpool?
  13. If we can have Daleks every season even though the Doctor has defeated them about 698 times, we can have them. Also I have a little affection for them after seeing them in the Doctor Who exposition in London years ago. I think the Weeping Angels were the last villains that actually had staying power.
  14. Ah but the fourth episode is titled "Village of the Angels" and looks to be wonderfully spooky and co-written by the same woman who wrote the Mary Shelley episode last season. The only plot point that has gone seems to be Diana who went into the house with Azure and turned to dust-gave more lifeforce to Azure? Hopefully Dan eventually remembers her. Still think the Mouri and Vinder are linked to the Time Lords/Division some how that will be explained by exposition at the end. Until then, I'm enjoying and watching episodes twice. Quite a step up as I couldn't even remember the New Years episode despite watching it.
  15. Ok who is this new Chris Chibnall who's making decent and fun episodes and what have you done with the old one? Two episodes in a row that are funny/exciting? I'm genuinely shocked in a good way. Loved Dan/wok and the Sontarans have always been silly. Remember Strax? Mrs. Seacole was excellent-brave and resourceful without being the GIRLPOWER historical figure that some writers tend to go overboard on. I'm even enjoying Jodie now. It's a strange feeling to look forward to a Chibnall episode.
