  1. HA!!!! I agree. :) And yeah, what's up with all those hobbit houses consisting of pine boughs?? Did they not understand 'It's going to get cold here, MF'ers'?? And also, a tarp roof will probably not stand up to snow, DAVE. Nor will only walls on 2 (3?) sides. Go Randy and Britt! I'm still wondering whether or not the intro showing someone tramping through the snow wearing homemade snowshoes is real or not? Kind of like the wolf/dog. I *thought* that person was a woman because of the skinny legs, but now we know it isn't. Is it one of the guys, or totally fabricated like the wolf/dog?
  2. You're not. :) (even though I complain constantly)
  3. No fat Sam for two weeks in a row. I assume he'll be a bit more slim next week. :) Brooke: Boohoo. Boohoo. What? Alone means actually alone? Green tarp? What? Am I in a psych ward? Going on a hike because I want experience it! Crap. Now I might get wet. Oh, wait, I'm starving. Tap. Dave: Shot a big bird and it got away. Boohoo. Oh noes!!! Boohoo. It wasn't so hard in Patagonia when I preserved all those fish that I refused to eat. Move if you want to die, you little mice! I'll grind your bones to make my bread. Oh no! One crawled out of the trap before he died. I gut them tomorrow and eat them. yay. Now I might have to kill a deer! Larry: Boohoo. Mice! Mice! Scurry sounds! Nobody told us about the dreaded MOUSE even though I threw a fit about it before. I'll reprise my stupid act from my first season. I know! I'll use bear spray on my bed to annoy the mice. Never mind the fact that I sleep on the damn thing. OH! And then I'll also use up a few shots of air from my boat horn. Hopefully there're no really big animals I might have to worry about. Britt: Ho hum. I'll go fish and catch a bunch. I'm fed. Now I'll smoke some of them. The large animals outside my shelter keep me from sleeping soundly. Having fun with my camera, here! Randy: Well, I'm catching fish so I think it might be wise to smoke them on top of the amazing chimney I built. Cool. Adjusting well, I think. Happy thoughts. Got a grouse! That's great. Need the fat. They both seem 'off' to me, but from the previews it seems that Dave is building a perch on which he can more precisely shoot deer? Are we going to be subjected to some drama queen performance if he gets one? I hope not. That would be amazing if he got a deer. The man has serious bow skills. But what about his seemingly half-finished shelter? A tarp and half the place having somewhat walls is not going to do the trick here, and we all know he knows it. I don't know if Larry is actually talented and faking it, or if he's really just going to play for the camera until he has to tap. There's really no way to know with this editing. Also, congrats to Randy for being the 3rd person this season to succeed with a bow. Awesome (compared to the first few season when nobody was able to do a thing with a bow).
  4. ......and I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down........ :) Rather strange about Sam. My guess would be that yes, he is lazy. Perhaps it would be easier to gain about 80 lbs, talk to your wife about 'Alone' and how close you came the first time by doing basically nothing. I mean, now they have two children. It would be much easier to get fat, learn or read *nothing* about building shelters in Mongolia, not listen to anyone in episode zero, and just exist until you have to tap, than it would to deal with two little kids (or actually provide for them). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Contestants I don't like right now: Larry, Sam, Dave. Contestants I don't care one way or another: Brooke. Contestants I like: Randy, Britt. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I reserve the right to change my mind week after week. lol! It sucks really, because it's obvious that stuff is going on behind the scenes that production is not showing that would change all of our minds if we could see it. History channel, get a grip. The charm and charisma of this program was that it was real (organic, if you will, although that word makes me laugh). One of the first times I started to look side-eyes about the whole thing was the repeated clip of the dog/wolf 'attacking the camera'. It didn't happen. So............what? Someone hung a piece of meat or a favorite treat on a tripod and ordered dog/wolf to 'come'? Okay. I'll stop complaining now. Still one of my favorite programs. :)
  5. Well, shit!! Too bad prune juice wasn't one of the ten items. Team Randy, I guess. :) Maybe Britt. Dave is nuts, Sam is.........Sam (but it's nice that he's finally thinking about shelter), Brooke is carving spinners and ugly jewelry while Britt is hauling in fish after fish using grasshoppers, and fuckin' Larry just gets on my last nerve. -Very conveniently placed camera when fuckin' light-headed dandelion-swilling Larry passes out and remains still for? a dramatic effect? "Oh gee, I bumped my head! That could have been bad! I remembered that dandelions are a diuretic right before I (again) caught one fish and did some stupid fuckin' Larry dance! I'm so entertaining!" Oh, and nice to know (via previews) that you are reprising your 'OMG, mice in my tent' act. Snooze. -As someone mentioned upthread, I hope Britt is smoking those fish. -Forget about your act, Dave. Someone that proficient with a bow and arrow did not become so by standing in front of a target for 20 years. You're used to killing animals. It's a way of life for you as it is (and was) for many. So shut up. -Sam? I smell production. All of a sudden he has enough energy to build his shelter? The young man has a food source besides squishing one small bird with rocks. He must. Same with Brooke the feather girl. No kidding! That guy in Montana(?)! She kept running him down time after time to protect those babies even when he was trying to leave. Very scary. Agree. I think that my problem is that it's so obvious that many of them are playing for the camera. The exceptions seem(ed) to be Jesse and Randy. At least Britt is honestly funny. I now know that I prefer newbies. And 'Alone', not 'NotAlone'.
  6. Haven't they been separated for years? Like....years and years and years?
  7. I don't think it's going to rain much since this is late fall. The trees are turning color and I doubt that she'd last till spring.
  8. IMO, I think Jesse is second with the shelter. His logs were huge and I was surprised that one person could carry them. His log shelter is not as tall as Randy's is, but it's stout (as far as I can see). I wonder if Randy, Jesse, and Sam might have been just far enough away from the horrible storm, or perhaps they weren't hunkered down because they didn't have to hold on to tarps and pray. lol. Okay......not Sam. He was probably, I don't know, ........laying underneath a tarp and snoring. Agree. And isn't he the only one left who has not gone through this before? Oops, Brooke was on the 'not alone' season, also. I have to admit that I'm still team Jesse or Randy. I can't stand fuckin' Larry and his histrionics. I also don't think Sam can do anything but howl with wolves and sleep. Britt .....um......different guy than the first time he was on the show, so I don't know. Brooke? "Okay, now you're all going to think this will burn down", as she builds a 'chimney' with wood. It burned last time, so who knows. Dave just seems like he's acting a part to me. Okay, he's so good with a bow ...but now he's apologizing to the animals he kills? Now? He's far too proficient with a bow and arrow not to have killed anything before. I'm really looking forward to tonight's episode. :)
  9. Randy's cabin and fireplace/chimney rock!
  10. VI = Vancouver Island :)
  11. Right? While watching Dave starve himself in season 3, we had no idea that he had 50 or so fillets dried/smoked that he could have been eating. His stores probably wouldn't have been enough to make much of a difference, but had he eaten them a couple of weeks before he was pulled, maybe he might have lasted a bit longer? Or at least exited not looking like a skeleton? Also, is anyone collecting and drying the onions, garlic, greens? C'mon, History channel........we'd rather see this than people all freaked out by hearing wolves (which they aren't really and everyone knows it). Now if a bear finally shows up..............
  12. I laughed when he was talking about his extra rations (70-80 lbs) being attached to his body when he's living under a tarp. I don't think that will work in -40 degrees F. BTW, Sam....hooks need a barb, so your trapping wire hooks may be cute, but it seems like the fish will easily dislodge them, or your do-it-yourself line will break. Plus, man........fish bite early in the morning or when the sun sets. I don't think you have time to sit around with a beer cooler in the middle of the day and fish. lol! When he was building his cabin, he was both barefoot and in boots. He is apparently used to being barefoot in his usual environment of (?) Arizona or Utah? Not me. Even walking to the swimming pool barefoot in middle school almost killed me (okay, not really, but pavement can be hot even in Rapid City, SD.) I can walk in our yard barefoot on the grass when feeding the birds, but that's because it's soft and cool and no rocks or pebbles or anything else. I love this. He got a snake, too. I have friends who bow hunt successfully(deer). Would never even try it. I went to a Catholic girl's HS, and our choices for PE were 1) bow and arrows 2) ice skating 3) playing poker inside with Sister Bernice. I sucked at #1. About twice a month she would be all pissed off for some unknown reason and order us to go outside and 'hike'. The campus was about 100 acres and gorgeous, but somehow "You go OUTSIDE. You must go outside and hike. You must breathe. You go. You go" wasn't particularly inspiring. Some of the older girls would go up the hill and smoke. The rest of us would sneak back into the dorms and watch TV in our rooms for an hour. All was forgiven though, the nuns who cooked for us rocked. They actually blew out eggs, filled them with jello, and twice a week we had 'jello eggs' with whipped cream instead of salad. LOL! Yes, that was not dessert. What am I talking about? Oh. Me, too! It looks like he's enjoying himself this time around. Well, we all know some folks make it to winter. It's going to be interesting to see who might have been able to preserve food, and how they do it.
  13. Heartbreaking, but almost expected as Mongolia didn't seem to have the herbs she uses, unlike VI. :( Loving Jesse and even Randy. Glad we got to see some shelter building!
  14. I also want to see more of the shelter building, gathering, and day to day life. I suppose that one of the drawbacks of having the return contestants is that the majority of them have learned to ham it up for the camera. Some of them always did. Most of them are making money off of their participation on this show from seasons 1-4. Agree that fuckin' Larry is a drag. He played it up last time, and this time with his new ZZ Top beard, he's playing to the camera even more than he was in his first season. He's amusing in a way, but not what I watch 'Alone' for. Agree that Dave is hosting his own "ME ME" program in his mind. He *did* however shoot a grouse with a bow and arrow which is new. He still seems kinda nuts. I reserve the right to change my mind later. lol Sam is playing to the camera. (OH BOOHOO!!!) Britt is playing to the camera. Nichole is and was always being a *personality* and enjoying the camera. She's got a brand. I like her, though. So that won't last long. lol I can't even guess how Randy and Brooke will come across when we finally see them. I suspect that Brooke will be a camera ham since she was last season. I hope Randy does well. Team Jesse all the way!!!! He filmed his cabin building, and he's not a show-off. You know who I wish were contestants this season? Lucas and Mitch. Yes they tapped because *stuff* but they were interesting. Also.......what was his name? Mike? The guy who built a bunch of interesting stuff but tapped because he missed his wife (yeah, no......probably hungry).
  15. The only forum I read that makes talking about the previews a big deal is the 'Survivor' forum. In every other forum (only talking about my viewing habits) folks regularly talk about the previews. We certainly have here in the past years IIRC.
  16. Nope. Gonzo. :) He set some snares (funniest things I've ever seen), stood in front of his camera and sucked his belly in, proclaimed that he now has ribs.....and tapped. I suppose either he or his brother will show up on 'Forged in Fire' sooner or later.
  17. As in the past seasons, the contestants chose their 10 items. The food rations are one of those choices. Some folks chose one or, two or, three. Some people chose none.
  18. The only thing I could come up with is perhaps the past season was 'haunting' the contestant. Larry's all chill now with his new beard persona, but haunted by his breakdown......but F that 'chicky monk'. Dave was haunted by his starvation, but now actually has some luck with a bow (has that ever happened before?). Brad was haunted because he hardly had a chance last season, and............got nothing. He's an idiot. Britt was haunted because on his season he tapped out to go home and this time his wife told him to stay the heck out there. (???) Really stupid decision with the fish, but he was actually interesting and funny this time. Or maybe they're all being haunted by roving packs of dead wolves who howl a lot. lol! One thing I noticed: Dave seemed to be having a hard time with all the bugs and I haven't seen any of the others bothered by that, yet. Maybe his space might not be the best? Also, I'm not a guy.......but no underwear for 20 years? That sounds rather uncomfortable.
  19. Just go home, Brad, and leave the camera time to the big kids. :)
  20. This is such a good episode! The difference in the apparent level of interest in their shelters among the various contestants is stark.
  21. Anyhooo, May we live chat during the episodes? In the past some of us did, occasionally.
  22. Is there any chance we can retroactively control Jesse's camera and make it tilt down? :) Okay, sorry........ Not really. So, a couple of days ago I was searching all around because Carleigh's extended exit was supposed to be on the History channel. It wasn't until the next morning. What I did find was Fuckin' Larry on Youtube saying that:
  23. Oh great, people! So now I'm going to have to tell my husband that the reason I'm watching Nichole's segments again are to see if her boobs are being inappropriate. Believe me, this is going to provide him endless entertainment (probably for years). lol
  24. Thanks from me, too! I spent an embarrassing amount of time looking for that last night.
  25. I saw the same thing. Her spot had a lot of dead trees compared to the others. She might have to move a bit to find an area that's safe to build her camp. They said on episode 0 (?) that the river does flood, so she needs some higher elevation with more live trees. I believe that the article posted recently in the media thread mentioned that they each had about 5 sq miles. Hopefully she can find a safe place to build camp that's not on too much of a slope. Speaking of her, she still has her humor, and sheesh. The woman should be an educator. She's constantly teaching. :) BTW, no ant larvae for me, but that was a humorous segment. Just random thoughts: Sam: - Well, he has some excess weight he can lose. That's good. - Adorable children! - OMG, the first day and he's already breaking down in tears?? Get over it. I never want to hear it again. I mean......never. - Still howling at wolves and I loved it. We used to do that at home and it's a thrill. Coyotes, too...but they're easy. Carleigh: - She gained 25 pounds to try again. - She's so nice and such a tough girl, and then.......BAM. I think I cried. Jesse: - Said he was my favorite a couple weeks ago, and he still is. - He has a lovely spot! - Hefty trees he's felling (like a turtle). I think his home is going to be great! Yeppers. Looked too big to be the camera tarps to me, but some of the old tarp choices were huge. This is still interesting.
