  1. What's everybody's take on the pitch clock? I fear that my reaction is of the "Get off my lawn!" variety. Just the thought actually makes me nervous.
  2. Enjoying the shit out of Mike & the Mad Dog (how else can I say it?). Francesa...eh. But I love Chris, even when I can't stand him. Glad they put this together. eta: Crap. I forgot that Tony Russo (Chris's dad) phoned the show the day after Chris left ("Can I still call ya?").
  3. There is the Grand Canyon between that first and second sentence. I'd go along with the 1st, but only with the insertion of "currently," before "Higher Education". Check the politics of the faculties of American higher education, and I believe you'd find it heavily weighted to the Left. So = statistically provable. As re: the 2nd: I feel many on the right feel many on the left want to keep people "poor, uneducated, and pliable", and thus beholden to the party who many on the right feel promises as many freebies as the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
  4. Shit. Wade gives up the winning run???? Edited to add & take out: A few DMs thrown my way to remind me that Robinson Cano came to Yordana's funeral. #boocano should be, and is, hereby revoked. Yeah. That was weird.
  5. They'd actually impress me if they took all that energy to protest a place where that shit actually DOES go on. From Twitter: "Nora - نورة @noraj27 Woman in front of me at passport control in Saudi Arabia prohibited from travelling because she didn't have her male guardian's approval."
  6. Now that you mention it... Monday night, KC @ Seattle, a tweet from the TV guy re: the radio announcers: "Ryan Lefebvre points out how Denny Matthews hasn't had to say the name 'Boog Powell' in years."
  7. I'd like to thank @Twins and @Tigers for their #Midwest4Life rejection of the Yankees' attempt to siphon votes today. Yeah, but we don't give a rat's ass about them. I was referring to when #8 is on the field. Announcers don't make that mistake much anymore when *Moustakas* is the player involved. But what a lot of sweet stories my initial comment has engendered.
  8. I don't think it happens much anymore, but there was a time, other teams' announcers would be shocked that Royals fans appeared to be booing their 3rd baseman. Nah. "Moooooooooose!!!" One guy had giant antlers attached to his Jeep. The Moosemobile. Welllll, at the time, with all those innings, it was...mentioned. And, of course, Chapman was a rent-a-player, so why would his manager be *as concerned*. *ducks flying objects*
  9. "We're not the enemy of the American people. We'll just hunt you down and ruin the life of Americans who make fun of us online" -- wow, CNN. I hope this guy you threatened, lawyers up.
  10. Let me introduce myself to the East Coasters. I'm a Kansas City Royals fan. This is our version of the bat signal for Mike Moustakas; nickname, "Moose". Our 3rd baseman, Homerun Derby participant, also in the Final Five All-Star vote-off. #votemoose We've got a statue of his Game 5 throw to home in the Royals Hall of Fame.
  11. Here's a sweet story: John Farrell will be in Kansas City tomorrow for son Luke's MLB debut. *sniff* Sorry. Must be the BBQ smoke.
  12. That joke has a very long, very...eclectic life. The first time I heard it, I was a kid, and it was KState v. KU. A remote possibility for the Lou insertion is that he was a Royal before he became an Other.
  13. Great piece by Joe Posnanski on Steve Palermo. The former MLB umpire, hero, and longtime Kansas City resident died in May, and his memorial service was this week. Poz knows how to place an anecdote, for sure -- if for no other reason, check it out for the one about a pitching great's first outing as a rookie, and what Steve said to calm him down, pre-game.
