  1. Apparently when he was in bed the bed broke and he couldn't get out...
  2. The new GoFundMe He is fat because of his thyroid, by the way It's hard to read. Lisa never learned to put a space between a period and a new sentence. There is a bottle of Dr. Pepper in the photo. https://www.gofundme.com/ezv9tkyc
  3. As I've been saying in this thread (20 and 30 pages back --don't bother to look for it) is that what is on his legs is not cellulitis. I've been saying it is something else that he calls cellulitis. I am glad the doctor is backing me up! They don't call me Dr. Opera for nothing. Cellulitis starts out on the skin, with a rash or a purple painful spot -usually on lower legs but could also be on or near the face-and then spreads through your blood and whole system. Cellulitis is an acute infection where you have a high fever and need heavy antibiotics immediately. Some people get IV antibiotics, some people injected and some take a series of horse pills. It is a type of staph infection. People at risk are the elderly, the hospitalized, the bed bound and people with cracked skin like excema. He must develop cellulitis a lot because being bed bound is a risk factor for it and having this elephantiasis is making him prone to cellulitis because the bacteria gets in through cuts and cracks in the skin. I think someone else posted upthread that he was hospitalized for cellulitis a couple of times. There was another woman on My 600 pound life who developed cellulitis after her skin surgery- the bacteria got in because her stitches were open. It sounds better for him to say "My cellulitis is draining" than saying "my elephantitis is draining" Also as for you EMTs- god bless you- and having to lift bigger people-- I know a guy in the funeral business (my neighbor the undertaker) who got a slipped disk in his back picking up a 400 pound body.
  4. I also got Mary Pickford! FJ was an instaget for me because I read an article only a week ago about the making of The Princess Bride movie. One of the daughters wanted a book about Princesses and the other about Brides. I just also watched the movie for the 20th time. I loved that atmosphere science category. I knew none of them- of course- but I feel they have should have more science categories like that and less questions about movies and television.
  5. Wow sorry to hear about your dad going through that- what a shame too that is so athletic and fit. Even though he had a poor outcome, I bet his overall good health was why they were even able to save his life, even though he lost his leg. Then you have this big wasteful lump-who some one upthread nailed it-- when they said that James is a person who just takes and consumes and gives back nothing to socieyy- just fine laying in his bed. Life really sucks some times. It doesn't seem fair, does it?
  6. DC gal in VA- that is pretty grim but nice synopsis of what her life is and what she does and has done. I mean they are co-dependent so it seems they sought each other out. It is true that the other guy raised his kids! What a lazy sack of shit. I also noticed in the very beginning of the show, when she walks over to his bed, she is limping. She is 56 years old and looks in horrid shape. She is also a physical mess from all this. I'll bet she has her OWN medical problem and aches and ouchies.
  7. It's because for 3 days before the appt they followed the diet and they thought that would be enough to fool Dr. Now. IT's like when the 650 pound woman lost 11 pounds in 2 months and was thrilled. She knew how bad she had been and how much she had cheated so she was more thrilled she didn't show a gain and could pretend that she was not cheating. Dr. Now had her number though because if she was not cheating she would have lost 50 pounds or more. He probably didn't drink anything for 2 days and figured he'd peed all the bologna, chinese food and cheese cake out.
  8. I have fibromyalgia too and I love sweets and can eat them all day long, day after day. I do exercise like a maniac (about 8-10 hours per week 3 hours or so is very hard effort) although it's often very painful. This is the only way to keep my weight down. The minute I stop exercising I gain 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Right now I stop eating after 7PM every night. This has helped the acid reflux and the weight. It's really hard but a lot of us eat for boredom, stress and emotions. I lost my dad a few months ago so turned to food for comfort but as soon as I hit a point of about 12 pounds over where I want to be, I get with the program. I get myself back on track. I used to not get myself back on track until I was 25 pounds over weight, but since losing that 25 pounds in 2008, I don't let myself get more than 12 pounds over before snapping back to reality. Middle age and a family history of obesity plus medical problems, it does seem like we are fighting a losing battle.
  9. no but the japanese don't eat pizza, bologna, sausage and hot dogs, chips, french fries and big macs to go along with the rice. They eat fish and vegetables with their rice.
  10. those exercises don't do anything. "I'll eat this cheesecake then Ahl double up on my exercises". Thirty minutes of that might negate a bite and a half. I'm sure the second he feels any discomfort he stops and says "ow my chest, ow my arm...I gotta stop...I can't..get me a drink..get me something to eat..ow my arms..."
  11. The show said it was 2 months but someone upthread said it was actually 4 months. I think Courtney is his step-daughter- one of Lisa's kids by her first marriage Good luck with your treatment- I am sorry you have to go through that-it's very tough. There is no way to prevent breast cancer, contrary to popular opinion. I think this is the only 1/2 century in the history of time that a person can get themselves into a state like this through their own actions. The human body is not supposed to work like this.
  12. I am sure he went right back to it as soon he was done with the cheesecake. He stopped because after all "I don't want to undo all that I already done". And then inhaled the cheesecake. THE CAMERAS WERE THERE! This is when you are supposed to pretend to be following the diet. What happened when the cameras were not there? Well we know because as Dr. Now says "the scale doesn't lie". Every meal, every hour, every day= cheated SOME
  13. seriously he said something about "hitting rock bottom" if he didn't get to Houston. He hit rock bottom once he started shitting the bed and growing cauliflower on his legs, not being able to sit up, having to use a catheter, can't fit in a car or through the door, need 2 full time caregivers. How can it get any worse?
  14. Even if some of them go from being house-bound and not able to drive at 650 pounds and get down to 300-350 their quality of life has vastly improved, even if by most standards they are still overweight. A few of them are just thrilled to be up and out of the house and getting involved in life although to society they are still obese. It's a very long road. And as stated James is worse than most because his feet, legs and body has been totally destroyed. I also noticed that they are liars because at first they said to the audience- I've been stuck in this bed nearly 4 years now. But then he told Dr. Now that he had been in the bed only 2 years. which is it? whichever one suits the conversation and sounds better.
  15. When Dr. Now said to him "James what do you think we can do for you?" he was addressing just that idea that Dr. Now could somehow fix this mess without him doing a fucking thing.
  16. They are staying in Houston because they don't have 10K to take him back to KY. Also he doesn't want to subject himself to the 13 hour drive. That is the real issue not to get help. In the beginning of the show he kept saying "I have 2 choices: stay here and die or get to Houston" No, bubba there is a 3rd choice: stop shoving food in your mouth! Going to Houston is not going to change anything!!!
  17. Not really they only raised $459 out of the $50,000 they asked for! hasn't walked since ..his hospital bed he had broke about a yr ago and he could no longer get out of the bed do to the bed breaking and then he just got worse from then on out...he was hospitalized In Louisville about a yr ago and was sent home and got worse when he was sent home...he has been on every diet there is and nothing is helping he drinks nothing but water and is very active for someone his size...
  18. They were trying to make it gross for PITY!
  19. not so much, I think they wanted to help them- I think they did hope for a good outcome for him. Obviously all participants are chosen for ratings. They feature the bottom of the barrel and they really can't guess how it will go. we have had similar enabling family members turn around and change. They were contacted by the producers on their first GOFUNDME page and this couple responded because they thought being on TV would get them exposure and more people would feel bad and donate. But the co-dependency was so ingrained I feel they needed more than just being handed the diet. I know they got support but they needed something extra, like a LIVE-IN Shrink. It was a pattern, he whines, then he bitches, the she appeases him, then he is nice to her. Can't just change this ingrained pattern by saying "you are killing him, you are going to die". Besides having a live-in shrink they had no hope to change their behavior - it was too far gone. If she didn't quit feeding him when she was changing his huge smelly shit pads and his oozing pores, just going to Houston is not going to wake her up either.
  20. I'm watching it again so he gained the 120 or so pounds the first time- and then swore up and down he was going to do it this time, so dr now but him on the hospital contolled diet, sent him home for 2 months and he came back and had gained another 3 pounds? Maybe it was 3 times he failed and lied?
  21. Because he might have to go the bathroom in the middle of the night and she won't hear him if she sleeps in the bedroom. Even though she said she would hear him he whined and whined about it so finally she said "ill fix a pallet on the floor then"...he wore her down with his whining.
  22. It looks like they were first contacted on his First GoFundMe page by the show. I think they thought it would be a free ride and money and exposure which would get people to donate more to his GoFundMe. I could just hear them- producer wants to talk to us, we is gonna be on TeeVee!!! They never thought about actually having to do anything!
  23. when he knows he is going to get caught in his lie (weighed) he says "Now is not the best time for me to leave my family"-- it's my favorite line in the whole show!! AS IF HE DOES ANYTHING FOR THEM!!! I also love the line "Live is meant to be enjoyed. I just need to balance that with what I need to do"...ha ha ha as he shovels in the cheesecake
  24. There are 2 gofundme pages and on the other one, lots of people commented. https://www.gofundme.com/h974k26s
  25. I liked the sun sign category. I did pretty well most of this show. I guessed Heineken for FJ. Here was my reasoning: Heine must mean 20 in Dutch (its veinte in Spanish so Heine=Veinte ) and Ken must mean Century (Ken=Cen) in Dutch!! Thank you very much! therefore Heine-Ken= 20th century
