I don't. The Steelers need for them to lose if we want to get in the playoffs. We also need Miami to lose. Of course the Steelers also need to win against the Browns. Bluegirl, you're a Steelers fan. You could've stopped at "I don't" when it came to discussions on feeling sorry for the Patriots or not LOL! It's been all good news so far. Really hope this guy makes a full recovery. Although I don't know if he will be able to ever play contact sports again. I think all Damar needs to do is be on a roster, or even spend one second in Mini Camp or training camp. That would be enough to win CPOY. Short of playing a snap or whatever, it's over for him. A decision he wouldn't make but respect, while the Bills & the NFL would have to prevent him from playing again. I think it would be nice if he got to play a snap, series or whatever Alex Smith did. Similar to Charles Barkley's reasoning, I imagine Hamlin would not want his final on-field appearance to be getting shipped off on a gurney. Of course, there's no comparison between the injuries to Sir Charles and Damar. At the end of the day, there are several that are ruined forever, and some die from the sport. Damar Hamlin living his life is what counts. Without life, there's no football anyway.

Nah. I'd rather go with the teams in question but with a different plan. Assuming both teams win, whoever wins by more gets that win added to their total. For instance, if Buffalo beats New England by 14 but Cincinnati wins by 10, then the Bills get the extra win. If the Bills win by 14 but the Bengals win by 17, then Cincy gets the extra win

After 2 decades, Cincinnati will repeat as AFC North Champions for the first time ever. That's aided by their no-contest result where a loss keeps Baltimore alive for their quest for their 7th division title. In the aftermath of that, if the Ravens beat the Bengals AND they occupy the 3rd and 6th seeds, the venue for their game will be decided by a coin flip

Not just risky, but sorta unnecessary. The league's worry about player safely might've been more toward their chances at showing up in court than the well-being of another human being doing something none of them have done before. Danielg342: I was referring to the other teams in the league when it came to winning more, not necessarily the Bills & Bengals. Most specifically, the Steelers and Ravens. We'll never know if Buffalo could've escaped, but a loss may have put them in a spot where they'd probably have to travel back to Cincinnati, as the Bills would've been the 3rd seed, even if they'd beaten New England

I don't know if I'd call it punishing Buffalo & Cincinnati. They didn't penalize them to the level of teams forfeiting a game. If the Bills and Bengals said they were done, that was a decision made by the organizations, not the league. Basically, Option one is the Top 2 seeds swapping but in the event of them meeting, the "new" 2 seed would host the one seed I agree that they could've waited, but I understand & respect why they didn't. As time passed, it made less sense to resume the game. Sure a lot of teams are going to be unhappy. All I can provide is... A: Be happy for Damar 2: Should've won more earlier, and D: Buffalo can still finish behind Cincy (SOV)

It's the best decision. Probably not the best time to announce it but the right call here.

Exactly. Plus, not everyone has a parent or guardian that is good at advising a player with that. In addition, not everyone was raised by people that were smart with their money

IMO, the union has pretty much been on the losing end more than the winning end after Upshaw died. I'm hoping that things will improve when they get a new "spokesperson" or leader. As harsh as I am, it's JMO

I've seen a couple videos on this. Most concerning is there cutting back on disability for players and denials plus not paying the cte money promised. Doesn't surprise me one bit, sadly

Georgia is favored by 12.5 over TCU. The champs opened at -13.5 but the line moved soon after that. The over/under is 62.5, up from either 60.5 or 61.5. While there's no hurry to pick, I might finalize my selection before the weekend. I don't know if TCU will lose by that many, if at all. I thought the O/U was too low, but that might be accurate

I'm aware about HIPAA & know it's a federal. Amazingly it's been the case for barely over a quarter century, but whatever. I'm quite familiar when it comes to this stuff, but not an expert either. It's important (for me) to self-educate and stay informed. Notabug, I appreciate your content & knowledge on this matter. I think it's great that we have someone familiar with the ins and outs, somewhat related to what's going on. There are a lot of people on Social Media that need to hear their voices heard, state stuff to fit the agenda, and try (& fail) to make it look factual. I tend to approach the better safe than sorry method when it comes to the laws of the land, especially HIPAA. It would/does make total sense that one's parents/spouses/kids would (have to) assume control with certain info when the person in question is unable to. What's important is family using it wisely and nothing more. Good thing Damar's mom is trustworthy. I don't know about his uncle; if it's me, my family would have an inner circle with extended family they trust & ones they don't. Not everyone's getting my info, but the wife, the kids, the folks, and siblings would. Maybe/probably my aunt, but that'll be it. Wouldn't be my choice if something happened to me, but no one close to me abuses my personal stuff. They're more aggressive than I am

No HIPAA doesn't apply but basic decency does. The Bills organization has staff members at the hospital. It's pretty clear they're coordinating with the family. The information shared by Damar's friend and the information shared by the Bills organization has been very similar. I have no idea what the laws in Buffalo, New York are as it relates to one's privacy. I don't know for sure meaning that if I had to guess, they may or may not be similar to the ones from Damar's hometown, which I am familiar with. Say they're similar & the proper protocol is followed. The family of Hamlin along with the Bills organization can only share the information that's disclosed to them. It's not just that it's out of respect or whatever, but the people working in a medical facility or professional building/office within the field are bound by HIPPA. So yeah, people can legally say whatever they want, but unless Damar signed a PRD Form, the doctors, nurses, and everyone else can basically tell his family & team, "I'm sorry, I can't tell you what you need to know." They'll be able to inform everyone of his status, but in terms of the particulars, they might not know because the staff is only telling them what they need to know, not what they want. No deep details, and Hamlin is well over 18 years old. BTW, $7 Million so far in terms of donations

Actually, there does appear to be an easy answer. The was a poster that posted something very interesting. I usually don't link to Twitter stuff unless it's "valid" material. I still will not since it usually shows up full by default here. It's basic: Push the AFC wildcard weekend back one week. Having Bills/Bengals that same weekend. Then the following weekend, the NFC Wildcard is off while the AFC wildcard gets to play. The divisional & championship rounds are a week later and Pro Bowl weekend is either done away with or moved to President's Day weekend

Exactly. Not counting a Chiefs game is dumber than the empty tie. Unless the game is the one won at Raymond James Stadium (it wasn't on the schedule this time 2 years ago). To be fair, both Buffalo and Cincinnati beat Kansas City
-
Here was what I was planning to post in terms of playoff seeding or my predictions (which went off of my October pick of the Bills to beat Cincy): AFC: Kansas City, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Miami NFC: Philadelphia, San Francisco, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Dallas, New York, Green Bay No point in posting even a brief version of the playoff clinching scenarios. Instead, here is where you can find the most detailed stuff. I believe it factors in both cases of the game resuming or being called off

Even though I "destroyed" the NFL earlier, I too have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Part of my anger & frustration was in the moment stuff, and some of the criticism has been brought on themselves. However, the NFL didn't "take out" Hamlin. And as mentioned, this could've happened to anyone, anywhere. Not even in football or any sport, and not to a (professional) athlete. It's an unprecedented situation, and it's sad. Hopefully it will not happen again. There are no guarantees; even without this, at least most people take care of themselves & make adjustments for their well being. No 2 people are similar so one may have to do more, but in this case, I have no idea what, if anything, happened that led to this. Nick Wright probably put it best, but he basically just said there's no need for any blame here for something unforeseen. It's just tragic, that it.

Whenever there’s a situation where one’s life is at risk or ends, amid the mourning, people often speculate on the cause or a business situation related to the tragedy. For example, if a celebrity dies suddenly, people will speculate the cause before at least someone would respond with, “Can’t y’all let it be? Let the guy RIP!” Or in this case, what will happen to the final MNF game. The reply would be, “A man nearly died on the field and it on life support. Give it a rest. Life is more important!” That is fair enough, and to worry about it in the (immediate) aftermath is not cool. However, the saying of moving on without someone is a fact. Furthermore, it’s possible to do both; it’s possible to plan the future (with several options) AND still care for a fallen victim. That’s why I sometimes roll my eyes on the notion that people aren’t allowed to speculate or make future plans. That being said, there were talks about a tie. At first, I thought that would be unfair, however I think I changed my tune. I’ll save that for later. There were “talks” about having Bills/Bengals in Week 18, with the other 15 games being pushed back. From there, the postseason (pre Super Bowl) would be pushed back a week, which would work since there’s no Pro Bowl anymore. The thing is, I don’t know or think all the games need to be pushed back. Definitely the Ravens/Bengals, Miami/Jets, Pats/Bills, Steelers/Browns, and maybe even Vegas/KC. However, games with not playoff stuff could still be played. No need to have just one game next weekend. They probably are not going to push the postseason back just for Bills/Bengals. This is/was my idea. Whoever has a higher Week 18 point-differential between Buffalo & Cincinnati gets a winning credit for that MNF game if it’s cancelled. At the end of the day, a tie works. It’s better than a forfeit, but it’s fair. The players/coaches and others decided that they weren’t going to continue. That is so understandable, so give them the tie. That would not help Buffalo if KC wins, and it would also eliminate Baltimore from the division. However, the latter blew half a dozen double-digit leads. Whatever happens, people will praise the league, rip the league or say, "Not ideal but fair enough." I'm in that neutral part

Eventually the speculation and the movement toward whether this game gets played will occur, whether people like it or not. I don't think today is that day, but maybe tomorrow. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop talking about or caring for Damar. As for those on Social Media, I think several of those folks need to worry about their own jobs and careers. Most of them aren't very good at their professions & have no room to talk when it comes to the well being of someone else & how actual real people handle it. Couldn't agree more with Danielg342 here. They're no need to speculate anything. BTW, the "If this happened to me at my job, my company would move forward without me as it nothing ever happened" line I heard (and seen in the past) is laughable. Every job & career is different, and it depends on what one does for a living. The fact is for most of those on Social Media and in the real world, no one turns on the TV to see a regular civilian perform his or her job on a typical day

If there's anything positive to take away from the aftermath of last night the following is it: Damar Hamlin's GoFundMe page, which had a $2,500 goal when it started a couple years ago, has now hit over $3 Million in donations as of this morning.

The effing year isn't even 50 hours long. I think I may be ready for 2024. I might be done with 2023.

I'll pretty much cancel out anyone that actually blamed the guy for what happened. Too bad IT exists. Not sure how one could blame Higgins. To be realistic, I'm not sure how anyone could spend seconds of their life posting or expressing blame toward Tee for what happened tonight. The Cincinnati Bengals were trying to win a damn football game. They have unfinished business & they're going to be up against it by teams in their own conference and whoever wins the NFC. This is coming from a fan of a team in the division. ALSO, I understand the stress in Cincy; the stadium was the site of the Tua thing and on a related note, the Shazier career ending injury.

I think everyone but us Bulldogs will be rooting for TCU. I would if I wasn’t a Bulldog. The have been truly impressive. Meh. I'm rooting for a good game. TCU winning would be nice, but Georgia repeating would be sweet. It would validate the consistent nature of the SEC. It would be the only time someone did so in the 4-team playoff era. Unless TCU wins the 2023-2024 CFB season. Speaking of sweet (and I guess consistency):
