I wouldn't rule out New England. That has also been brought up (and I thought about it before then though not necessarily before anyone else, just before it was mentioned on television). BTW, ITA about the annoyance of hearing about TB12's plans. After February 12 that's fine. Even if it's mentioned a ton from January 31st - February 4th that's no big deal. I remember being very ticked off last year when it hijacked the playoffs. I don't know how it was okay to talk about that nonsense right before the big games. The focus was on those teams & players. I already seen way more than enough over the past quarter century within a sport that's been around for over a century

Only time will tell whether this is if for Tom Brady or not. If he did step away, then he lost everything for nothing. The best ending would've been him leaving after that Super Bowl win in 2021. I think if that had happened in the second year, then that would've been it. I think he's definitely leaving Tampa Bay for sure. He would've done so last year but he was under contract so he had to survive this year. Vegas could be interesting, and really the best bet on where he'd play next

I'm not a Cowboys fan, but for people wanting to see the Niners fall, Dallas is a better bet than Tampa. Nobody was betting on Tampa to knock off San Francisco when the team is run by a man named Todd Bowles

I wouldn't say that to Steelers fans. Of course, you could since you're not a Steelers fan. To be more specific, see Baltimore 2008-2012

I just realized that if Dallas escapes Tampa & knocks off San Francisco a day after New York knocks off Philadelphia, they'll make history. To be more specific, hosting a conference title game in a normal year without hosting a prior game within the same postseason

IIRC, Dallas has been known to wear white a ton, even at home. Belichick, a former Giants employee, knows this. I believe he had his team wear white at home whenever the Cowboys came to visit

Thinking back a day or two on Al Michaels call vs Mike Tirico 24 hours later. Of course Tirico's energy toppled Al's energy, but I do have to give him credit overall for a great career. I can't say someone's wrong with his call in the 1980 Olympics being the best call ever. Furthermore, I occasionally watch the games for the game, not for the announcers. Finally, to be fair, say what you will about Tirico's call on that 98-yard TD. It was so great. However, in preparation for tonight's game, I tuned into a clip of an Al Michaels call featuring Tony Romo as part of a play that was an attempt to give Dallas a 23-21 lead if not final score. Now that was exciting!

Various games featuring the 2022 Denver Broncos. And the 2022 Arizona Cardinals. Well, no one wanted them to win, but preferred for the teams to finish the game as fast as possible
  11. Terrible news for Georgia. That totally sucks; RIP. On a lighter note / moving back to stuff related to the game, Jim Harbaugh is no longer going anywhere (per the Michigan President)

Dallas might lose, and San Francisco might not win next Sunday. On what may or may not be related, Tampa Bay activated Bucs Center Ryan Jensen off of IR

I'm not surprised. The game kicks off at 3:00. The conference title game template carried over to the divisional round for Sunday's games not too long ago. Even though it's not the late game, it's still in a decent spot. Also, San Francisco vs either Brady or the Cowboys is getting the nod for a decent window. In addition, the NFL likes the have the best team in each conference playing on Saturdays at least more often than not. Finally, with the Niners, who played the first game in the postseason getting the MNF window, it's fair enough that they get the last game of the weekend to give the Bucs or Dallas a chance to recover

The 2020 season. This the 3rd year they've had 14 teams in the postseason. The playoff expansion occurred the season before the regular season moved to 18 weeks

The NFL makes the civilians adjust, and when they do, they move the goalposts. They did originally have 3 on each day. The first Saturday afternoon game in a couple decades was a nice blast from the past. It was also not ideal in terms of ratings & interest. Therefore, we still have 6 games, but Monday night

100%. After the nightmare that was the CFB Playoff Natty (despite the team I picked to win & the team I rooted for winning), this is refreshing. Seahawks/Niners ended up as a blowout, but Seattle, who had nothing to play for, made it interesting into the second half before things changed

They started doing that crap during NHL games and some imbecile thought it would be a good idea to bother NFL coaches in the middle of the game. I guess whoever made that decision doesn't know who Gregg Popovich is

Unless I'm mistaken, the Giants are undefeated in conference championship games. Based on the NFL structure over the past century, I might not necessarily bet that as an all-time stat, but I think definitely in the Super Bowl Era or since the merger. Ditto for Cincinnati in the AFC. I agree I can't see the Giants winning against the Niners, but if history can repeat itself...well, never say never. I didn't think the Giants would beat teams like New England the way they did. Of course, those were better teams. I guess we may have to find out or not; San Francisco is still playing with a rookie, and their SOV isn't elite. At least most of their opponents during their winning streak don't impress me that much. I was very positive and certain that the Giants would win today. I went with them outright because they've trended upward & faced a team with a negative point differential that lacks defense. The Vikings did very good this year, but Cousins doesn't impress me in big games

That's right, JTMacc. CBS had 2 last year (and the year before IIRC). They're not playing 2 FOX games on the same day and having CBS and NBC on the other day

It also depends on Lane Johnson. I agree that New York has a shot, but if they do pull off the upset, I'll just advance San Francisco to State Farm Stadium for a football game to be played on February 12, 2023

I believe last year when the NFL decided to have weekday playoff games (specifically Monday Night) that the MNF teams wouldn't play a game off of just 4 days rest, even if it meant a 1 seed playing on Sunday. Recently the league preferred the top seeds to play on Saturday so that they would get an extra day's rest over whoever their opponent would be. Wouldn't be surprised if they went off of that in future at someone's expense. Of course, what's stopping TPTB from having both NFC games on Saturday and both on Sunday. Outside of the TV stuff, of course

Looks like Giants at Eagles on 01/21/2023. Yet another divisional postseason game. This one at Lincoln Financial Field. Not official, but a Saturday NFC East game is more probable than not
