One thing I'll say about Brady: I still think his segments with Jim Gray (Fitz is great as well) are tremendous. I enjoyed listening to them for sure before they left MNF on Westwood One. I don't think he was that bad or bad at all. He felt real during that time. I'll pass on TB12 replacing Olsen. Greg is very good. Probably the only time they'll have a non QB or HC/GM calling games (along with Cris on NBC). Totally detail oriented, he does his homework. In addition, he participates during the week. He isn't a 3-hour only dude like Romo

So last week around this time, someone on a radio show mentioned "something" about the future of Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers. To be brief, they pondered the "idea" of TB12 & A-Rod joining the same team. They'd leave their respective teams and sign with one franchise. One would play in half the game, and the other would play in the other half of the games. To be clear, it was a joke as they indicated it would never happen in more ways than one. I had to laugh at that concept, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. It could be close, but if there were any positives from it, they would be fresh, not as banged up. Basically it ranges from an in-team super war to a 14-3 record

Merylinkid, as much as I "joke" about your team (after all, there's a big piece of history between your team and mine), I feel bad that you got COVID. Fan feuds in sports are what they are, but at the end of the day, it's just a sport. It's just a game. Real life matters; without it there would be no football. Or much anything else. Get better & stay well.

I wouldn't mind it if he announced it between this time a week from now & one week from Sunday. Otherwise...I'd be so to the point where I'd buy Jerry Jones a drink (well) before buying TB12 a drink

Saturday's Jacksonville / Kansas City game resulted in 37 Million viewers (highest viewership since 2015) Looks like that's a record for an NBC divisional round game. The Baltimore / New England game generated 34 Million. To be clear that's the number for a Saturday afternoon game. The Ravens/Patriots game was in the same slot (first of four games & first of the two Saturday games around 4:30 PM EST). FYI: The 2015 game from the 2014 NFL season was NBC's first divisional round game in nearly 20 years (since the 1997 season) so maybe 37 Million for a day game isn't a record. So the record total in viewership is based off of the totals since the return of the NFL on NBC

Would you swap Cris for Dungy?
-
Yeah I believe the NFC gets first choice. I don't think that non-white jinx is in play anymore. I think Philadelphia or San Francisco are totally going for their home jerseys for the Big Game

I'm not rooting for this matchup. I'm not rooting against it either. I'm rooting for a great Sunday in terms of on-field product. I want to see a great game (both title games). Nothing like the nonsense from the Eagles & Giants. Buffalo got handled, but unlike many other teams, they were still in it until time ran out. Though I'll have to laugh at a Bengals/Niners Superbowl. FWIW, I did consider Cincinnati this year (along with the Niners, Chargers, Bills, and Bucs). They just sorta reminded me of Baltimore a decade prior when they were real close but you knew they would overcome and win it all the next year. Speaking of a decade ago, it was a similar thing. Niners getting to SIX vs Ray Lewis riding off into the sunset. That year was sorta annoying since New England could've ended things even though it meant Belichick tying (and eventually passing) Noll for most SB titles as a HC. Instead, they let Ray win, and then they ended up winning another Lombardi (and 2 more after passing > running). The only thing that sucks is the reality of the NFL version of LSU in the Steelers division vs Purdy doing something Ben (and even Flacco & Sanchez) couldn't do. Win as a rookie. Jimmy G actually won as a rookie but he didn't start in 2014. Having said all of that, San Francisco vs Cincinnati (would be a great game). For me, this is like 4 years ago when New England tied Pittsburgh. Me and a lot of other people weren't mad at all. The fact is, the Steelers are so far behind & have a ton of issues. Plus, they have a history of being behind the Niners & the Dallas Cowboys, so it wasn't a big deal. It's up to Pittsburgh to get better. The other thing is, like the Patriots, the Bengals have had success against the Black N Gold on their way to success. So if a team is going to run the league, at least they beat my team as part of that. And ITA; there's nothing to hate Joe Burrow for based on what I've seen from the guy. The guy's hilarious. FWIW, if he was this good and part of my team, I'd be enjoying it pretty much all the time Yep. I often think of that song "Before He Cheats" & I think NBC (or FOX) played that in one of their outros during a Cowboys game
-
Unlike the AFC Championship game, I'll wait until the end of the week/weekend to pick the NFC Championship game. I can see either team winning. The Niners were tested tonight, and they will be tested in a much more difficult situation at Lincoln Financial. If Purdy survives then I can't "site" luck for his perseverence. That's Philadelphia. I still won't say it's Brady 2.5 but you beat the best team against all odds and that's a plus. At least for 2022
-
What comes around goes around. Dallas played on a short week over a rested Niners team. Though SF should've been off this week (damn NFL!)
-
There's only ONE reason I would've been okay for Dallas in a Super Bowl. To see what Jerry Jones looks like in the present moment of a Cowboys Super Bowl loss
-
I think I did this for one of the last Super Bowls. Probably the Brady/Mahomes one since I didn't go anywhere. The year before and after I had to tune into the broadcast. The same thing may happen this year since I plan to be at another SB party. If not, I'll synch Harlan/Warner for the broadcast
-
Cowboys punted. OKAY then. See you next week when the Eagles WILL HOST the Niners for the right to face the Bengals the AFC winner!
-
Why? He hasn’t proven himself. Neither did Romo. Well, until he started calling games Despite my post, I actually & totally agree with you. I'm not a fan of 3-dude booths. You only need 2 men calling a football game. Three is a crowd. I'm just pimping a 3-man booth because FOX is slated to screw Greg Olsen in favor of Thomas. To be fair, Brady has done some media NFL stuff. His (MNF) material with Jim Gray and the Fitz is actually pretty good IMO. He's done that for years. Unlike Tony, he's done some stuff off the field fo the league. But year, I'm not a fan of 3 man booths. Furthermore, I HATE 2 people on the sidelines. People like Erin, Tracy, Melissa, Lisa, and even Michele when she was the person, do NOT need a second person working the sidelines. That may be the dumbest thing in the history of the decsions on who's on the call for a typical game
-
Ditto. I don't like to bring this up, but if/when TB12 retires, he's slated to be apart of the NO 1 team. I read somewhere that Greg would move to the No 2 role; if so, that's a little idiotic. Greg & Kevin have great chemistry; they work well together (though I have to respect people "missing Buck/Aikman" call a big game) TB12 should be apart of the top team; it would be dumb not to have him there, but why does Olsen have to get demoted. It's not like FOX didn't employ three dude from 2002-2005 for their Top TEAM to replace Pat/John. Furthermore, they went with TWO sideline reporters full time. It's not a (federal) crime to have Kevin/Greg/Tom as the top team with Erin/Tom on the field. On a related note, I had to laugh at the Social Media banter between a poster and Joe Buck. Joe and Troy forgot they're off this week; the Giants/Eagles game is the last game that'll be called by an inferior team in the divisional round and beyond. Starting next year, all four networks will get a divisional round game. So, it'll always be Jim/Tony : Kevin/Greg : Mike/Cris : Joe/Troy going forward. No more B Team in this part of the NFL Postseason
-
Curt "promised" it'll be a great 2nd half. Whilch is very possible, but what's just possible is San Francisco score 35 points to Dallas nothing to validate a 44-6 blowout. Which would be....YAY!
-
How bout them cowboys, I guess
-
That did not look pretty. Gross is the word RE: Pollard.
-
Shula lost with Baltimore before winning with Miami Parcells won with New York before losing with New England Mike won (and lost) with Green Bay before losing with Seattle Andy Reid lost with Philadelphia before winning (and losing) with Kansas City
-
Nope. I almost said Andy Reid, but similar to Parcells and Holgrem, he fell short
-
Me too. I'm pretty petty, but I knew it was going to happen. The second Joe Flacco connected with Jacoby Jones to achieve a tie vs Denver, I was like, "I believe in trends, so here comes 3 more Patriots SB titles." While there's not a valid connection, I did think that when that happened, Baltimore was winning the whole thing, and the first time they won the whole thing, New England, soon after, won 3 Super Bowl titles within a half-decade. Call me petty, but both the Pats & Ravens sorta sabotaged (legally) Pittsburgh's efforts toward being the city of champions & the best of the best of the best
-
I think I still have my copy of Super Bowl 51. Plus, there's PGA Golf on (though they'll be done before kickoff)
-
While Kansas City gets the extra day to rest (unlike last year), it's going to be Cincinnati vs Dallas, San Francisco, or Philadelphia. There's no reason for the AFC Championship Game to take place.
