Meh. It makes sense. 2024 is basically the debut of the "New Look College Football" so it would be odd to keep them there until 2025. Of course, why not let them go before 2023? Well, I would not let the best of the traditional Big 12 of football exit before playoff expansion. Sure the Big XII champion & runner up both looked awful in their final postseason game, but at the end of the day, waiting until 2024 is perfect

Looks like I better get these in before showtime (and I might be super too late anyway): For in-season awards, I'll go with Mahomes for MVP & OPOY, Nick Bosa for DPOY, Daboll for COY, and I guess I'll stick with Purdy as a backdoor winner for ROY. Hurts could sneak in as OPOY while Pickens could manage the ROY (as he played a full season with a new guy at QB). HOF: Joe Thomas, Revis, Ware, Willis, Johnson

I personally would love to see LBJ play against his son, to be honest. Not father vs son as the top story of the season, but the two on different teams that get to face each other as much as possible (maybe in the playoffs/finals)

I never got around to posting/commenting on LeBron maybe trying to go to Phoenix in the next two years. Or anywhere but LA. He might be stuck with the Lakers, but I think it's a waste to stay there. Despite the year he won the title, there's nothing for him for prove anymore. Not sure whether KD and James together will happen; if not, I guess I can forget LBJ as a Sun. Having said that, I sorta will be okay with Phoenix winning outright. Especially with a new ownership group. We'll see

To be honest, there's not going to be one big thing from the NFL that would result in me saying, "I'm done with football forever!" The league will move on & be fine with or without me. I'll be around 40 years from now or many years after I'm dead, whichever is longer. They'll be fine. Despite the frustration, that's a good thing. The sport is great. That being said, if I ever stopped it would be over a ton of cumulative things the league has done coupled with my own life agenda. The new rules, the playoff structure, neutral site conference title games, etc...it is what it is. I may or may not like it; however I adjust & deal with it. It'll come down to the schedule. The flexing, extra days (look for Friday football post Turkey Day being a weekly thing), and so on would have me quit (either some/several weeks or outright) if it interferes with other things I do on within a typical day or week. Examples are time with family, reading, and doing stuff that produces money. That's the danger the NFL runs. To some extent. People like me would move on as we're not going to throw away what's important for football. Otherwise, we'd lose both. And that's okay. The league will have other people come into the sport in addition to the many that will stick with it

And? Then there were none. But? Then there was Simmons, who a year ago was in a situation where I didn't know he would even play a game for Brooklyn. Despite that, he was a player in the aftermath of the break between the trio of Irving, Harden, and Durant. They are now all gone!

IMO, the league will not flex a Sunday game into TNF without warning. I imagine that there would be a reasonable point to warn the teams that it's going to happen. The NFL is not going to flex a game that's 7 days away, and make it to where a team will have to play on 3 days rest. It's not ideal either way, but it's not the worst thing in the world. I'd rather they don't do it, but if the league moved forward with it, that's a good thing for the casual viewer. I imagine the players will fight it, but if they do, they're going to lose

I don't know if there's any coach that can help Kyler. To be fair, he hasn't been in the league that long. So I don't think it's completely accurate that he's a guy that would get coaches fired a lot. On the other hand, he got paid, and there have been a lot of examples of people becoming less popular because of it. Or someone that experiences behavior that they're better than someone else. I don't know what to think of Arizona's situation, but while Flores is a better leader IMO than Kliff, he is a defensive guy. So they would need to find someone respectful on the offensive side
-
It's kinda sad. So much for acting like he's been there before. What's worse is that he was there as a player several times. You'd think Michael would've thought twice given how others (Sapp, Faulk) were kicked out in the past
-
I guess I was rooting for him to stick around. But for only ONE reason. Getting to 50 wins. That's the only reason. That's not a very good reason; it's time for him to go, period
-
Yeah it would have been nice for Brian to get a HC job. However, I disagree with what might have happened for Flores in Arizona. Not a great culture down there, and why deal with Murray when you can get a better opportunity to go elsewhere with a better culture & a contender toward the title. I think he has a decent shot at getting another look as more time passes into 2024 & 2025. Maybe a sorta out of nowhere spot in Green Bay, but being one step closer to where he was a year ago is not too bad
-
You'll get those changes. A lot more than any changes Pittsburgh has. Your HC will be too focused on his side of the ball to tinker with the other side, or in Pittsburgh's case, make assistants on the same side of the ball irrelevant

Per Brady off of his recent interview with Colin Cowherd, Tom is not expected to start with FOX until the 2024 season

The weekend was basically a Fun Fair for Grown Men. I guess it's not going to be a big deal when the top people get the $$$$ and the ratings come back beating everything else on television for the week(end)

Meh. All of the Mannings have their pros and cons. I can' say they're angels; really who is. The not so cool stuff isn't great especially with Archie & Peyton, and Eli's "act" in 2004 is so damn minor that I often forget about it. It's not like the Chargers have a great culture FWIW. At the end of the day, 11 times out of 10 I'd have a drink with Peyton (or any of the Mannings) before (or instead of) having one with a dude named Joe Mixon. That's that
-
It wasn't a great question, but it's not a big deal. I didn't have a problem with it, but maybe Holly could've phrased it differently. Maybe a question of replacing a legend in general, not just in Duke/UNC

ITA re: NBC 3-Way booth. In the sport you have the current ones (current lineup) for the college game & the NBA. All time (all of sports) you have the classic one for MNF, but Packer & company were phenomenal. Probably wishful thinking prior to his passing, but I was hoping he'd been able to make an appearance or tape a tribute to Nantz as the latter is calling it quits for the dance. Back to the games: just a couple picks, including Gonzaga, KSU, Purdue, and I went ISU elsewhere since they're tough at home in the deepest conference in the sport. I'll go UNC outright and the over. That way Duke can finally beat them and I can be wrong with yet another pick

The NFL Conference Championship Games Averaged Over 50 Million In Viewers Pretty decent numbers in advance of the upcoming Super Bowl. The AFC Title Game, which was about 53 Million, was up from the same conference title game (and same participants) from 52 weeks ago. In addition to that, the late window saw an increase from last year (Niners/Rams). This year's NFC Title game was South of 50 Million (about 47 Million); you can probably thank the blowout for that total. While the Super Bowl should do well (as is the custom), I doubt it'll set a new record in terms of ratings & viewership, something it did five times within the past decade and a half (but hasn't happened in nearly a decade)
-
AFC > NFC As for Derek Carr, he's far from done. It's just that it's time to move on from the Raiders. It's sorta like the Eagles. They have coaches that have WON but got kicked out. They won elsewhere while Philadelphia won with another coach. Sometimes someone might not be the guy. A change of venue may help Derek while McDaniels gets his own guy

I guess ESPN or whomever will be gearing up for Aaron Judge style break ins!

50 Years ago...the only super bowl that way better than the best super bowl played 7 years ago...saying no thank you to trying to win a Super Bowl 4 years ago...meh 6 years ago...ew! 17 years ago...the best day in the History of Planet Earth & will be forever!

To be fair to Joe Mixon, his actions were preceded by a female using a very nasty racial slur at him. More than enough that would get anybody cancelled, period. However, not to be fair to Joe Mixon, that's no excuse. It would be a reason for such a horrific act, but several people like him who have been the victim of similar stuff didn't react in the way Mixon acted (saying it was still wrong)

What's currently hilarious with the Archie (College) HOF talk was that I just thought about it earlier in the week and how it was a brief annual talking point (around this time), and how someone should mention Archie and HOF on an annual basis!
