IIRC, Aaron may have a no-trade clause in addition to being able to get out of his contract to go to a place he desired based off of the last deal he signed a year ago to stay one more year in Green Bay
-
I'd say Green Bay was top notch amongst all the other teams in that era. Meanwhile, there are some Islanders fans (nobody on here) that would say there aren't any other dynasties in sports since no one won "four" in a row, yet for "some" reason omitted Boston

I sorta didn't want to click on it, but knew it when both of my primary (In Memoriam) polls saw action within the past hour, added to seeing his name trending on my SM feed. He had a great run, and a decent career.

I don't think any of the changes made the game better, but a couple of them helped speed up the game. I probably didn't give MLB a standing ovation for the shift ban. The 3 batter thing I wasn't a fan of, since it was strategic to have a certain pitcher take out a hot hitter. Saved a little time, but I doubt a ton of time worth the rule change. IMO it was meaningful pre NL-DH. Pitch clock? Whatever. Maybe they could've made it cumulative. The ghost runner I dislike in general but I'm okay with it since the teams have nine innings to win the game. The DH is probably one thing that I was okay with. I agree with Mean Machine on that one. I don't agree with the lowering of the mound, but that's not a big deal either. The expanded postseason was great. However, the lack of re-seeding is not good

To be honest, it goes both ways with Kelce and company. Yeah it's meaningless to get mad over people "not believing" and what not. However, it's not a complete myth either. To be fair, this is someone that takes the middle approach more often than not (seeing both sides of the story). There were people saying that they wouldn't even make the playoffs (which was dumb really); some had them finishing 4th (meh), and others had them not winning the division. Why? Because Tyreek left. This isn't "everybody picking against Kansas City, but the doubts about KC success at their recent traditional rate were true. BTW, Buffalo was at the top throughout most of the season. Kansas City was one of the best teams, and then Cincinnati started to get good again. Philly was tops in the other conference. Still, there were still several people saying that KC was the team that probably would get it done due to an eventual MVP season for Mahomes. That's not everybody, but it's not "nobody"

I heard Carr would end up within the NFC South, mainly Carolina. It would actually help if he ends up with a team with a decent defense. I doubt Derek ends up with Baltimore. From what I've heard, Lamar had a say toward Greg Roman's replacement. Furthermore, I don't know if he'd be okay dealing with Cincinnati twice a year
-
IIRC, Mike Tomlin had a year as a DC for Minnesota and beat out a legend in Russ Grimm in addition to Wisenhunt. I guess he won with someone else's team. The postseason outcomes have vanished, but to be fair, Pittsburgh has finished with a regular season outcome that at least most people wouldn't even come close to reaching (including 2013, 2019, and 2022)

The Patriots were actually gracious, IMO. Though sorta on a Novak Djokovic level, but they didn't really boast about things. Their fans do/did, but New England was kind of boring, cheesy, and just too ordinary to get to the level of boasting. I think the fact that they opted out of losing in a dozen ways was infuriating
-
There's no defense with Hackett. There's an ounce or two with Saturday since he's been connected to the organization in which he excelled. Plus, the latter was only there temporarily. Not once did I think he was getting hired (barring a surprising run toward perfection)
-
100%. I'm happy for Schuster & that he got the title. I guess he couldn't wait one second to go back to his old ways. At least with Kelce, he was an integral part of Kansas City's success
-
Andy Reid. Plus Patrick Mahomes. Apparently Eric is applying for other OC jobs. That way he can show his skills to where it's not a product of the best HC/QB. As mentioned by other people, I probably would stay with KC over going to Washington. Pittsburgh would be great for Bienemy. New England could've worked before Bill O'Brien's return. This sucks, and I (and others know what gives); it's a little hypocritical, TBH. No. All HC vacancies have been filled

Not too long after losing the top offensive assistant, Philadelphia loses their top defensive assistant: In other words, Arizona has a new head coach: Now former Eagles assistant's move to the Cardinals official. Both were expected to happen. Couldn't do it before Monday

Indy has a new head coach: Now former Eagles assistant's move to the Colts official

Edited because I'm slow. Also, I also didn't look it up. In addition, for some reason, the page didn't update with new content (that's on my end). I do want to comment on how simple it was, but not before thinking for 90 seconds. I know 4 teams that haven't been to the game at all, including one inside the AFC North. The AFC South is a joke. We know that the NFC East is, and the Chargers exist. The Jets sorta have a decent future, but Kansas City, Buffalo, and Cincy aren't going anywhere. Prior to that? Yep, the Jets still have 1968. Too bad the Eagles lost. That's only because the NFC East could've been the only division in the NFC in which every Super Bowl within said division won the Big Game at least twice

That is fair enough. I would like to see some action as opposed to taking the cheap, safe route (which is also fair enough per the rules). The thing is that it's a bit rare for the game to end with several kneel downs. Usually a team that ends up losing has a chance to make a stop, or if they're on offense, to make a play for a score to tie or win. Several times when 2:00 and the warning occur, the team that ends up losing has at least one timeout if not 2 or 3. At the end of the day, whenever a team converts to clinch the victory, there's about 50 seconds or so left. I get the cheap nature of victory formation, but it's still fair game and rare. If the winning team goes into victory formation once, that's okay for me
-
Couldn't disagree more. Sure that's a possibility, but not something I'd bet on. I think it's up to the teams to make a stop or play better. I love the art of position, and Kansas City had it. By settling for a FG that was the right call but not automatic. If a miss happens then that could be a big deal. I might've scored to go 42-35 including a PAT. If Philly drives the field and later wins the game that's football. The situations that allow a team to kill the clock is worth it. It also adds some meaning or purpose to one's use of a timeout

You mean like Prince did in 2007? Prince will always be relevant in any era (now posthumously). It would be interesting to see someone that's modern within the period in which they perform the halftime show (someone that was big for 10-15 years). Prince had made it big over a quarter century before Super Bowl XLI. The peak had come & gone at that point overall, I'd say a dozen years before the event. It was still good. Not sure if today's stars would shine with a Marching Band but it would be neat to see it
-
Someone mentioned a stand-up during the Super Bowl halftime show. I might tune into that, but I also would have to support the majority that might say no thanks to a comedian doing the halftime show. As for the Marching Band, they probably aren't going to do that exclusively. However, I could see a popular artist or group performing with a marching band. That would actually be rather tremendous to be honest

Speaking of younger players, Kansas City's young defense is only going to gain experience. So that might hinder other teams from trying to match the champs in terms of scoring. Add that to Patrick Mahomes rankings wins over cash, and as mentioned, KC will be the kings of the NFL for a very long time. I'd bet no that he'll play as long as TB12 or match the accomplishments, but it may be possible to do more in less time, or on a percentage POV, actually top what TB12 in fewer years in the even PM doesn't play until/beyond 40 Edited to delete half of my post as Fukui San responsed to mojoween came a split second or two before mine

I'm not an Eagles fan either (Western PA poster here!) so I didn't get as upset as most people. I don't think that was a great call at the end of the game. I do wish it wasn't made (I think KC still wins the game anyway); however it was a legit call. A bad call but not the worst. Even Bradberry said it was holding. Furthermore, Philadelphia couldn't do much against Kansas City defensively to stop Mahomes & company. Patrick was hurt too so it is what it is. Both teams did well, but someone had to lose the game

One more note before today's Super Bowl: 2-Time league MVP Patrick Mahomes would be the first person in 23 years to clinch both MVP awards with a decent, winning performance in Super Bowl LVII. I believe this is the longest drought since the 90s. From 95-98, it was always 2 different people winning the NFL MVP & the Super Bowl MVP. That period had Favre winning 3 times in a row (and with Green Bay being one of the league's remaining 4 teams left in the season). That also includes a Super Bowl win for the Packers. Between 2000-2022, 10 MVPs made it to the Super Bowl (2001, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013 2015, 2016, 2017, 2022). Each of the previous nine did not get the job done

Probably the least amount of "noise" for a Super Bowl in quite a long time if ever, but here are the numbers (courtesy of FanDuel): Super Bowl LVII Kansas City vs Philadelphia Eagles favored by 1.5 Over/Under 50.5 Philly and the under (my pick) While I was pretty much going with Philadelphia the entire time (since the conclusion of the AFC Title Game), I was a little bit surprised that the line stayed at 1.5 basically the whole time. IMO this has been a buzz-free 14 days in terms of Super Bowl hype; I guess Vegas factored into that! Seriously speaking, if the line did move, it would not have been by much (regardless of if it was in favor of KC or the Eagles). I figured that it would have moved somewhat as practice took place in the final days before the big game. I guess people are healthy enough to participate. Or not, but it is the Super Bowl. It's not easy to bet against Mahomes, but I sorta have for the past several years. I've been correct about as much as I have been incorrect. Eventually I'll end up picking Kansas City and Patrick as much as I picked TB12 and New England. Especially if he can easily conquer Cincinnati. KC has to sorta win Super Bowl 57. The Eagles haven't really been tested this season. KC has been in a losing effort more than a winning effort, but they actually have faced Super Bowl contenders with people that have a chance to be HOF QBs (Burrow, Allen, Lawrence). The issue here is that KC is less healthy than Philly. Yep; the Eagles have people banged up, or not 100% (Hurts, Johnson). These 2 weeks are a big deal. Looks like most of everyone will be ready to go. Andy Reid is nearly perfect when coming off of a bye. I think all (but one) of his losses occurred against a team also coming off a bye (including 2004, 2020). Not ideal to bet against him over that (though I did for Super Bowl's 39 & 55). Despite the history of top passing teams against the top passing defense, I can't see this game emulatings Super Bowls like 37 & 48. Unless people are hurt and/or KC does something insane that sets the momentum in favor of Philly. Unlike the past teams, the Reid/Mahomes duo is experienced & doesn't make a ton of mistakes. That should help make Super Bowl 57 a decent enough battle until the end. I'll still go with Philadelphia to win because they have a much better roster. It's not even close. Maybe KC isn't as banged up, but I don't think they're that great either. If Mahomes was healthy, AND if KC had a scary defense, I think I'd definitely go with the AFC Champs. The WR core isn't fully healthy either. Whoever wins, I'll be happy for. Both teams have a decent future going forward. However, for Super Bowl LVII, I'll go with the Eagles over KC, 28-21

A couple of notes in additional to Tiger news. The 15-time major winner is committed to playing in next week's Genesis Open. I believe this is the last golf event on CBS before the Masters (as is the custom). Justin Rose winning the Pebble Beach Pro-am was significant in several ways. First win in several years, and it's the first time a European won the event. That never crossed my mind (I assumed it had happened in the past). While it's the place to be this weekend, it's probably not the place to be if you hate traffic. With the Super Bowl nearby, the Phoenix Open is happening this weekend. IMO it's a pretty decent event with the "infamous" 16th hole that might headline the event more than the actual winner of the PGA event. Last year it was a "scene of sorts" with people throwing stuff (specifically cans of beer) on Day Three of the event whenever someone made a Hole in One on the sixteenth hole. Per Golf Digest, I wouldn't expect such a scene to occur this year. However, something happened that didn't need to happen earlier in the event that has my doubts on whether the staff can control certain behavior this weekend
-
It is, but so is playing all of the games and leading your team to the Super Bowl. Or should all MVP candidates miss a couple of games to show how much they're missed? IMO, I think Philadelphia suffered more over the loss of Lane Johnson than over Jalen Hurts

Despite Joe Thomas thinking Pittsburgh would be 4th for a long time in their division (which hasn't happened ever, since 2002), I sorta feel bad for Joe. While I don't know or think he plays every snap in his career pre-IR, there were a ton of teams that could've used him toward success (from the playoffs to a Super Bowl title). Happy for Revis. Not happy for Mahomes. Not bitter either; it is just that Patrick winning the top award is comparable to being half miserable that it's Tuesday over Monday in a typical M-F, 9 to 5 work week
