I think Dan is safe for a week. Or not, but they have a short week. That, and the teams that defeated Atlanta are a combined 12-4, including two undefeated teams. Speaking of undefeated teams, it is literally possible that the NFL can have four 17-0 teams by January 24, 2021, which would guarantee the league's second perfect champion. I think that is definitely not happening, but there's a chance! The only way it can happen is if Green Bay, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Seattle all win out. BTW, that would suck for the Steelers in terms of seeding; they play the entire NFC East. Seattle might be in trouble too, as they also have the NFC East on their schedule

How long is Dan Quinn under contact with Atlanta?

New England could've gone back to their 1996 Package for a uniform change. I guess I understand why not, but I think those weren't too bad, and beat these awful ones. Speaking of awful, it is just that for New England as they've left points and opportunities on the board, but to be fair, so has Kansas City (despite getting to 20+ yet again)

The thing is Jets ownership sucks. Houston's is more respectable

I initially didn't have a problem with them making a joke about [the mask or masks]. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of them. If someone out there loves everything involved with the masks, the concept of one, that is his or her right. Just my opinion. That being said, either Al and Cris could've (or should have) shut up about it & dealt with it, or maybe they should have stayed home (or out of Santa Clara). I dislike them too, but like several things, I've turned things I disliked into things I admire. In this case, I might not admire it but I respect it enough to wear one when deemed necessary and imperative. While some don't have a choice for the most part, I usually minimize, or maximize my outings and appearances. Wasn't too surprised about their comments and how often they came up. Look, I actually enjoy hearing Al & Cris call games, but it's not a popular look right now (this after the constant talk about people's massive contracts a couple weeks back)

The NFC East has been horrendous for a decade. 9-8 combined record in the postseason. FTR, and to be fair, that division is responsible for 25% of the league's World Champions in that same timespan. Also one of two divisions with one than one team that's reached and won the Super Bowl (the AFC West is the other)
-
Well, to be fair, the Rams probably didn't need to play well. The same could be said for the Giants, no matter what happens on Sunday Night Football. At this rate I'll feel awful for a 14-2 NFC North team losing on the road to a 3-10-3 NFC East team come playoff time

This has happened in the original 80s version. IIRC, it was a contestant that also hit Double Your Bucks and a spin for only $250. Not easy to do since that space doesn't show up until the second set, and even in the mid 1980s the cash and prizes were significantly higher than that

Looks like the Sundays will turn into Cornhole Sundays this autumn!

The fact is the NFL is too stubborn to have had a Plan B. The idea was for the general public to "assume or not to assume" that it would work & would plow through. Sometimes being King gets into the head which leads to boasting and stubbornness, and sadly, that leads to a dive. Not a shocker that the league is struggling right now. It pretty much was a safe bet that it would based on the pandemic not letting up, around the time that they stopped at nothing to move on as scheduled. That started with the Draft, and then still maintaining their schedule, including Thursday games throughout the year! Too bad. They obviously can't play as scheduled; whenever a lawsuit surfaces, one where the defendant is vulnerable, only then will they choose the side of safety, caring, and caution. Sometimes at the inconvenience of someone else. Can't fault the NFL; I'd imagine they would plow on as best as possible. The NFL is still great, and better than MLB, who pretty much made it through into the postseason. So I don't think it would look good if the league failed to do so. The problem is Baseball knocked off over 100 of their games; football hadn't even considered knocking off 7-8% of their games!

As mentioned by people in the Pittsburgh media, the NFL might have gotten lucky rescheduling the Steelers/Titans game but if this happened again, they might not be so lucky. Still, I would forget playing at all this week. I hardly think the Patriots would allow the league to have them playing a game on a super short week against a team that had more than a week off
-
They better. The NFL is going to do whatever they feel is best, whether I say so or not. We'll never know if the Patriots would've won with Cam, but their QB doesn't play defense. I don't think they would've, and really it doesn't matter since New England isn't likely to win out (but they could win most down the road). The Steelers fans are going to be pissed if they don't postpone this game, and IMO, rightfully so. Either way, the NFL is in trouble if Kansas City has an outbreak

Come to think of it, I don't think there's a lot of worry for the possibility of Trevor Lawrence as a Jet. Similar to Burrow in Cincinnati, it sucks to have to be the face of a mess of a franchise. The good news is that both New York and Cincy have had success in the past, so there is hope. The Bengals might win in January well before the Jets make in into January (not counting a Week 17 or Week 18 game). As for Adam Gase, I don't know what'll happen to him, let alone the franchise. As mentioned there was no good reason to hire him. As for the Jets, and this applies to any other team in the league, you don't want to be a complete dumpster fire and have either a Thursday night game (in Week 4 but any other time throughout the season) or a bye in Week's 5 or 6 (or most any other time in the season). Maybe in prohibited from seeing the Titans future plans, but I don't see where it's set in stone that the NFL would push the Steelers/Ravens game back a week, move Baltimore's bye week up 7 days, and have Tennessee host Pittsburgh in Week 7. Otherwise, it would've been scheduled by now Soon after I posted here to talk about Tennessee's future, amongst other things, two more players have tested positive
-
Not a shocker, or even a surprise. But it figures that it has to be an AFC team "tanking" in a year where there will be an obvious choice for one's next franchise quarterback. I do remember the Jets getting Flacco after he was booted from Denver. It just didn't cross my mind until tonight. I bet Baltimore could sure use him right now (maybe not now, but in January when Kansas City could still be alive and well)
-
Or they can have back-to-back 4-quarter, 7-minute, 30-second games! It's not like they didn't shorten a period of football from 15 minutes to 10 minutes. Of course, you have College Football where a team is spotted 75 yards whenever extra is needed. Joking or not, the difference is that the NFL doesn't schedule teams to face each other three consecutive times. Barring a division foe or the postseason, no one really faces each other more than once
-
Maybe they can do like baseball and have teams play back-to-back 3-quarter games... How?
-
If you mean this coming Monday, then no they can't. That's due to some legal stuff, including airing the game whenever and on what channel. They considered it, as CBS airing it on Monday at 5:00, so it would've been over and done with before Falcons/Packers. The NFL has to be better with this, because while they're currently cautious, they haven't done a great job
-
Meanwhile, NHL players play more than once a week regularly, sometimes back-to-back. Actually, several times they'll play two games in as many nights. So while there might be a reason for a team's failure, there isn't a big excuse for it. Yes, no bye weeks for NFL players, and while that may be catching up to them, it is what they signed up for
-
It is what it is. I'll be honest: it's better than playing on a Tuesday. Sure people would make mention that all 32 teams have to deal with short weeks, and that would be a stupid comment. It's accurate, but it isn't a perfect comparison. Both teams would be playing a short week similar to what a Sunday-to-Thursday would feel like, but the difference is they'd be facing teams that had normal rest. Monday I would've been okay with; that a normal day of NFL football. Not a big deal right now. It sucks, but teams have had early bye weeks in the past, as early as Week 4. Or if you remember, in 2008, Baltimore had a Week 2 bye and almost made the Superbowl!
-
Yep. I read that somewhere. There is a way that Tennessee and Pittsburgh can make it up without any major disruption. It does involve the Ravens; while it'll be okay, another team can have a similar outbreak. That includes a team on the Steelers schedule. If that happens, then it gets very difficult to impossible to reschedule to where everyone plays 16 games (before January 4th)

The Twins are the Cards when you compare them to the Pirates. At least Minnesota has won a playoff series within the past 3 decades!
-
Though it appears that Minnesota is taking precautions despite being on the road (so as not to affect Houston; and even so, 3 of the top AFC teams already played Houston). Just read from the Steelers that the game is planned to be played on Sunday, as scheduled. The contingency moves the game to Monday night. They mentioned nothing about cancellation. Totally not the same as the Marlins thing. Probably night and day between the Marlins & the Titans. Even if Monday can't work, it would probably move to Week 7 well before a cancellation. Not that maybe people testing positive (yet) but too soon to actually bump it

I had the Texans/Steelers and they had the Watt brothers commercial for me. IIRC, they ran it more than once, but I did see the Belichick one as well

I have actually been thinking of this for a long time. I think the play or pass option had already been retired, and it's there just for show. A couple recent examples were whenever it looked as if they were short on time, Steve just "motioned for the contestant to go back to his or her family upon obtaining control. The other instance was a very tough survey with 8 answers (that ended up being worth 19 points) where Number 7 was the answer given that won a family control. That would be when you'd pass; the family did not pass on that question, and got one more answer before the bank was stolen. The other family stole it with 6 out of 8 unrevealed answers. Not an easy question; not sure that family needed to play when none of them knew any of the answers. Shapeshifter, those face-off issues are spot on. It's fair for Steve to do it his way, but there are certain circumstances where he could emulate what's worked in the past. He should be saying, "Two answers might beat it" whenever Number 3 is revealed in "Face Off" instead of standing there to do nothing. Though it is the contestants responsibility to know the rules; this actually occurs in the Main part of the game. Harvey does give players time, but they do get buzzed out for not responding in 3 seconds. It's odd; he did use the 3-second line early in his tenure. As mentioned, it helps to be better prepared, though they have had people on the show that didn't even know what Family Feud was

The Giants have been rebuilding for about five years now... So has Washington. That's generously speaking; if someone asked me how, I'd say "I don't know". If I had to bet on it, I'd say Washington isn't in a rebuild; they just suck as a football team
